Movie rentals from the play store. - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This is going to sound dumb, but can someone explain how this works? When i click accdpt and buy, it says 30 days, start watching within 30 days of purchase. Then it says 48 hours, continue to watch for up to 48 hours after starting. I am leaving on a trip tomorrow and i would like, my daughter to be able to watch movies on the plane without having to bring the portable dvd player. I dont care that i have to rent them. Will she be able to watch them on the plane both down and back in a week? Does the 30 days mean you can watch it as many timds as you want in that time frame?
Thanks

it's up to 30 days to start it. once you've started, you can watch it as much as you want for the next 48 hours only.

Does Google still not let you play movies if the device is rooted?
I remember it used to be that way, not sure if it still is.

Lookin forward to the new maps 5.0 and this.... grrrr
Im wanting Maps update too.
Dude, it was posted tonight and it says over the next two weeks.
Fifteen minute refund window....what the ****.
Not nearly enough time to rip off paid apps.*
*that's a joke put the torches down*
Seriously though, 15 minutes? =/
15 minutes?? Wow, could they not have made it at least a couple of hours? 15 minutes is utter crap

lucky we even have a refund feature. Don't think the App Store has one.

15 mins makes the refund feature useless to me. 15 mins to decide if I should keep the app or refund it? I might as well go back to previewing my apps via "pirating." 24 hours was perfect! Why are they ruining the refund feature.

Yes but App Store is also the easiest market to pirate ever. My grandpa could jailbreak an iPhone and download apps for free that's how easy it is.
I'm not condoning pirating at all, but now for a lot of apps I'm going to get apks off the net to properly test them out. If I like them I'll support the dev and buy the app from the market. I agree that the refund period doesn't have to be 24 hours, but at least make it a couple.
15 mins ? thats insane.
I know devs want smaler windows..I agree.
But 15 minutes ?
Something like Locale ,Tasker , scheduling apps , etc would be impossible to evaluate in that time. 15 minutes for Games Im 100% ok with. But other apps...give me 1 or 2 hours jeez.
15mins is way too short to fully test an app...
It took me an entire day to test the WidgetLocker.
Sent from my Nexus One
I'm with everyone else, 15 minutes is a bit ridiculous. I wonder what the hell logic was behind that. Guess I will be trying out apps through other means first. Thanks Google.
Sorry to derail the complaining about the bullcrap 15 minute refund window, but does anyone know if this will be pushed to custom roms like CM, or are we going to have to wait for an apk? Thanks in advance
agree ..
I think users need enough time to test it. You know in android world, all the devices, OS version are different and the apps have no good quality control vs iphone has unique h/w, and much strict quality control in the app store. This make users feel more hesitate to buy... a loss to both users and developers.

Yea Tasker is a great example of an app that would need many hours to test properly. I couldn't even figure out how to use it in 15 minutes!
But I disagree about games. I can't even count the number of games that I liked initially for 1-2 hours but returned because they grew tiresome and repetitive.
I think a 6 hour window is fair... 15 minutes, like, it takes 5 minutes from the time of purchase just to get something installed and figure out the basic configurations of stuff giving like 10 minutes to play and test the app?
Apparently the reduction from a day to 15 minutes is transparent to the buyer... but the market looks amazing in those screenshots

I just started using it (US). It seems pretty cool.
Android and iPhone apps are now up in the respective markets.
I used a proxy and signed up. But dont see the point, since the free account only lets you sync music from your PC. To listen to the streaming service, you need the 10 dollar per month package.

Well here in sweden i'm been using this service for over a year. And it is (by far)the best i've ever used. Sure they don't have every single artist, but there is so many I don't really feel the need for more.
I like it on my but $10 is a bit much for mobile streaming.

After all, $ 10 is too high a price. Available only 15 million songs. You can listen anywhere, anytime and can listen many different devices (mobile, pc etc.) I would rather buy the $ 10 album containing 12 tracks... No. no no .. I should have to think first what to say.
American network operators the pricing and quality is ****ed up. But many believe it is a lesser evil than $ 10 per month.
Spotify will not stay online
Anyone else having trouble on the Transformer? My dell streak will work ok, but the transformer keeps dumping to offline even though wifi is fine and all other apps are staying connected.

Known bug in Spotify on Honeycomb. Solution is easy but harsh: never make playlists offline available.
As long as you stream everything - you're okay. If you make a playlist offline available, it'll sync the first time and after that it'll keep saying it's disconnected.
And it's definitely worth the 10 bucks, I've been paying it for months and months (in Europe) and it saved me a ****load of money or time. If I had to buy all the music I've listened from Spotify, I'd had to sell my TF to pay the bills. Maybe even twice...
If your musictaste is pretty "conservative", not always looking for new stuff and getting addicted to it - it might indeed not be worth the money.
It's totaly worth it to have a paid subscription, i pay for premium
I use spotify all the time (at home, party's, cell phone etc)
The majority of the music i listen to is on spotify and i don't listen to comecial radio music

Deleting my offline content worked. How long has this been a known issue? I hope it is on a priority fix list.
I can have local content offline though without the bug happening.

After using the desktop(MAC) client i really like the service. It makes me really want to get the premium app. Question does the android app stream my music on my computer to my android or does it simply sync it to my android?

The android client works like the PC client
I still can't get it work. Every time I choose a song, I get an info bar with no info and an OK box to click. It reads my TF on my network, but it won't stream any music. I had no online playlists (I deleted everything just to make sure).
It works well on my PC--a lot of great music that seems to stream more quickly than Google Music.

Google’s “Longest Day Deals” Offers Up $0.99 Cent Apps For One-Day Only

From TmoNews...
Help Google mark the summer solstice with their “Longest Day Deals,” a promotion reducing several popular Android apps all the way down to $0.99. Highlights include NBA Jam, Grand Theft Auto III, Draw Something, Shazam Encore, Mass Effect: Infiltrator, and more. Better act quickly as this is a one-day-only deal so don’t waste any time thinking about picking these up, just grab them before the sun sets.
Thanks for the heads up.

They had a few decent music albums worth a purchase. It's a shame I can no longer use Google Music on my phone, though, since I've flashed too many ROMs without first being warned that I wouldn't be able to re-authorize my device after too many flashes. I'm going to have to put those on my phone the old fashioned way.
I didn't see much for apps worth purchasing, though, but I did get Mass Effect.

Video camera saving un readable unplayable video files 0 seconds.. Possibly not final

So today was our oldests 6 birthday party and gf shot a video with the Atrix 2 ..this has occurred a few times, we go to drop box it and watch it later? Does not play shows 0 seconds. Details shows 600 kilobytes, a short video but special nonetheless. I guess my question is is there any way we can salvage this video even partially? Could this be an issue similar to when you use to make CDs back in the day and they would not play unless they were finalized? I'm thinking the app is terminating before she is Pressing the stop button. is there anything we can do to save these videos? You are all awesome and you've helped me a million times in the past ..maybe one more time?
Using XDA premium app (awesome birthday gift from gf) on my still stock.. and beautiful Virgin Mobile Samsung Galaxy s3 (but not for long)
600KB seems very small for a vide. Sounds like the video was not recorded at all.
Did you try watching it on a PC (use VLC or something)
Also, make sure you have a fast SD card (class 10 or better).

VLC you say? Well we don't have a computer right now but I'm going to go plug this in maybe at my friends house or the library to see if we can do that. Thank you for the good idea. Yes I got her the 32 Gigabyte hi speed card for her birthday she loves it. Hey thanks I'm going to check this out and see what I can find out. You are awesome. I didn't know there was a computer program that would watch partial or im properly recorded videos .. I recently got a gift Samsung Galaxy S three for virgin mobile so I will definitely be back soon

well I would to have that kind of battery and same goes foe smart watch
cool
smart watches are a cool idea but have a long way to go and charging a watch every 2 or 3 days seems like a bit of a pain.
nice!
That's pretty decent. I normally just use my smart watches for controlling my computer. Best use I've found so far.

They will implement either Wi-charging or body heat charging like you have with emergency flash lights when they power up when you hold them in your hand, and a watch is actually on your body and is in direct light, win-win,
you never pay money for coffee
Broo this is awesome... Keep it upp !!!!
