Glad Google is updating all the Gapps... just wish they would announce them then push them out right away.
Lookin forward to the new maps 5.0 and this.... grrrr
Im wanting Maps update too.
Dude, it was posted tonight and it says over the next two weeks.
Fifteen minute refund window....what the ****.
Not nearly enough time to rip off paid apps.*
*that's a joke put the torches down*
Seriously though, 15 minutes? =/
15 minutes?? Wow, could they not have made it at least a couple of hours? 15 minutes is utter crap

15 mins makes the refund feature useless to me. 15 mins to decide if I should keep the app or refund it? I might as well go back to previewing my apps via "pirating." 24 hours was perfect! Why are they ruining the refund feature.

Yes but App Store is also the easiest market to pirate ever. My grandpa could jailbreak an iPhone and download apps for free that's how easy it is.
I'm not condoning pirating at all, but now for a lot of apps I'm going to get apks off the net to properly test them out. If I like them I'll support the dev and buy the app from the market. I agree that the refund period doesn't have to be 24 hours, but at least make it a couple.
15 mins ? thats insane.
I know devs want smaler windows..I agree.
But 15 minutes ?
Something like Locale ,Tasker , scheduling apps , etc would be impossible to evaluate in that time. 15 minutes for Games Im 100% ok with. But other apps...give me 1 or 2 hours jeez.
15mins is way too short to fully test an app...
It took me an entire day to test the WidgetLocker.
Sent from my Nexus One
I'm with everyone else, 15 minutes is a bit ridiculous. I wonder what the hell logic was behind that. Guess I will be trying out apps through other means first. Thanks Google.
Sorry to derail the complaining about the bullcrap 15 minute refund window, but does anyone know if this will be pushed to custom roms like CM, or are we going to have to wait for an apk? Thanks in advance
agree ..
I think users need enough time to test it. You know in android world, all the devices, OS version are different and the apps have no good quality control vs iphone has unique h/w, and much strict quality control in the app store. This make users feel more hesitate to buy... a loss to both users and developers.

Yea Tasker is a great example of an app that would need many hours to test properly. I couldn't even figure out how to use it in 15 minutes!
But I disagree about games. I can't even count the number of games that I liked initially for 1-2 hours but returned because they grew tiresome and repetitive.
I think a 6 hour window is fair... 15 minutes, like, it takes 5 minutes from the time of purchase just to get something installed and figure out the basic configurations of stuff giving like 10 minutes to play and test the app?
Apparently the reduction from a day to 15 minutes is transparent to the buyer... but the market looks amazing in those screenshots

I'm not even sure I like this new version... Bits are better. The "wheel" at the top should function as one (spin to change from apps to games for example), and it would do well to be smaller.
It's not all good news though..... Not only are Google bringing in this revised App but they are also changing the returns policy on 'Paid Apps'.
At the moment it is 24hrs but very soon this will automatically change to 15mins..... Yes, FIFTEEN MINUTES!

I can understand that for many it will not be an issue but for me it does suffer an impact.
A lot of my paid software has to be tested with other Apps and other people.
There is no way I can achieve this within 15 minutes nor would I wish to challenge one of my medical team to stop what he/she is doing just so as I can ensure the new App is tested within the new time lines.
Run of the mill games and non business applications should be fine but larger business orientated applications will I feel suffer.
They may end up having to take other measures to ensure sales targets are met.

I'm not totally convinced of that - most apps are pretty cheap (even the business ones) and I think a business can afford to drop £20 or so on a copy of an app for testing purposes, whereas perhaps a "casual" user might not.
For example, if I'm looking at rolling out Android phones to lots of users, and I want to check out 3rd party exchange integration solutions, it's going to cost me less than £20 to get full copies of both Touchdown and RoadSync.
YMMV of course!
I suspect we'll start seeing more free trial/time limited versions of software popping up.

Dave

They will suffer if they don't introduce what you are saying (which I totally agree upon).
Under this new time limit there's effectively four problems:-
1. Large Content Application Downloads
Apps that have significant amounts of downloadable data i.e. Maps, Game data files etc can depending on your speed take ages to download. As such there is no realistic way you can download all the data and test it within 15mins.
2. Time & Location Apps
Some Apps rely upon a time of day or location (alarm clocks, location based sound profiles etc). 15mins isn't enough time to evaluate these Apps.
3. Utility Apps
Apps such as over-clocking, battery resource monitors, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth location-based togglers etc. How do you manage to test these within 15mins.
4. Buyers Confidence
If you have an entire day to download and try an app, you're less likely to feel rushed to test, or pressured into keeping the app. By offering an entire day to "try-before-you-commit-to-buy" Google and the developer community are conveying a sense of confidence that the apps found in the Android Market are of such high quality that you'll like them -- after all, if you don't like them they'll give you your money back! That's a pretty confident sentiment, and it sets potential buyers at ease.
By rolling that back to just a quarter-hour, Google is essentially reversing that sentiment, making users less likely to make the purchase in the first place. Do the math: 15 minutes is a reduction in time of 98.9583%.
As a short-term measure I would like to see Google change the time-limit to say 2 to 4hrs.
Long term I agree I hope we now get to see more Apps being offered with a trial bases, i.e. you can test an App for seven uses, after this time if you wish to keep and use you pay for it.

1. yup, games with large downloads after installing will be an issue. An hout would be better. 24 hours effectively allowed you to complete a game so that was too much.
2. yeah but they generally have lite versions.
3. agreed.
4. Yeah, but 24 hours was way too much. 15 probably too little (although like GANJDROID I *generally* refund within 5 mins)
15 mins is better than nothing right? If the market started with 15 mins we would be happy. Fact is we were probably a bit spoilt by having a whole day.
On a positive note, I think that google wouldn't have done with without significant pressure, and I'd assume from large game companies. So, we might expect an influx of mega-high quality games as a result, something I'm (just about) willing to give up 23 hours and 45 minutes for!

Yeah even the touch button doesn't work. I can't install it (no sideloading with ATT, and I haven't done anything to fix that) So I just copied it in with root explorer.

According to this you can map the controls to make it work? Anyone try it yet? I think I'm gonna download the game later and give it a shot, my battery is dead right now....
UPDATE:
I bought it, and it shows up in the Game Launcher!
Trying to download the game data now but its locked up, probably because a ton of people are doing the same thing I am doing right now.
Bought it. Never thought 270mb could take so long, but once downloaded, it's one slick game. Play controls work great.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sega.soniccd
Only $2 US dollar.
The graphics looks like on the screenshots? They could've updated it like Dizzy which looks amazing.
graphics are pretty nice. I played this game on a gameloft tablet about two months ago and I had commented back then that I might as well be playing Sonic on an emulator. I actually take that back now.
I'm a sucker for all things Sega, so of coursd this will come to me. I like the price too...
Good deal, but it's taking longer to download the 270 MB for this than it did to download the 1.5 GB for FIFA 12! Oh well, they say good things come to those who wait... and wait... and "Download Failed, Retry"... Grrr!!! but OK... and wait... and wait... and... Dang it, another "Download Failed, Retry"... What??? starting over with File 1 of 8??? But I was on File 3!!!... and wait... and wait... and... and... FINALLY !!! YAY !!!!
WOW, it was so worth the wait !!!
After all that, just watch. Tomorrow they will have it for 10 cents!
I can't download the data. Using wifi and 50Mbit broadband. It's been on 2% for like 5 hours

Last night I had it on 50% of file 1 but it was late and I wanted to play some dungeon hunter so I canceled it figuring I'd do it this morning (and that was after like 10 tries). Before going to bed i set it and it got to 15% and I as like ok this will work. I woke this morning and its STILL at 15%!
Canceled it and tried to restart, now it won't start at all.... FML
I will wait a couple of days. The download is ridiculously slow and plagued with issues.

Yeah I figured maybe try again over the weekend. Releasing it the same time on both iOS and Android Market is great except the servers are probably flooded with everyone and their mother trying to download it.
I managed to download this in about 30 minutes over 3G.

I was thinking that at first, but then you'd have to find a sega cd emulator, the rom file, and configure it. For 2 bucks I'll bypass that, for the flawlessly smooth built for Android experience that this provides. Not to mention the graphics fill the screen without being stretched.

ok so i see you listed the version number, I'm guessing that means you didn't do the newest update =/ I use my phone as my internet connection and updated foxfi because it gave me an error saying i had to update it to use it.
Now i'm stuck with a 2.51Mb limit before i have to restart foxfi, Any work arounds for this? Im not trying to spend $7 for an app thats been free this long. It strikes me as someone getting greedy, And $7 is pretty steep when i can root the phone and tether for free. Just not trying to root my S3 atm.
Thanks, and sorry i'm not trying to hijack your post just a honest question

Its cool. Lol. I wouldn't update because of the limit and felt the same way about the app being free then 7 bucks.I don't mind supporting the devs for their hard work and have many bought paid apps that I have purchased. But this just didn't seem right. But as of yesterday the old version quit working had a pop-up saying it wasn't supported and wouldn't connect. So I guess it got blocked to force you to buy if you want the program.

darn, im wondering if theres a way around it or another app. Because like you i dont mind supporting dev's and i have also bought many apps, but this isn't right its been free for this long this is someone who is just getting greedy and trying to force people into paying them money. The app had over 1million downloads, If that many people use it and he now forces them to pay 7 thats 7 million dollars. I dont blame him i wouldn't mind having 7 million but still i'm not putting in on him being greedy.
Lol you guys are spoiled. The developer has a right to ask for money for his app... People have been using something he has done on his free time for free for a long time... Who knows what is going on in his life but maybe it's reached a point where the money is needed. For what it offers, it is easily worth 7 dollars one time. The only reason i have not bought it yet is because people are reporting it doesnt work on 4.1 anyway, so we'll see.

Well i'll straight up say i'm far from spoiled, I've spent money on apps that i didn't have to just to support the devs. But when you go from "i'm doing this for the people and its free i just made it to help out" to "i'm charging 7 dollars when i've changed nothing" that just a bit greedy to me, I work hard for my money and i'm not about to just throw it at someone because they got greedy. I've done my homework downloaded a widget called hotspot toggle and i tether threw my phone's built in hotspot for free. Easy to use, turns on faster, and i haven't seen any issues with it yet. So i guess good try to the foxfi guy. Hope you guys find the hotspot toggle widget useful

That will never completely happen. Open source is seen as a security threat to many companies. BB is dieing off and will soon be a software only company. Apple will always have a place due to their security as well as most people prefer something that just works. I cant say I blame them as I have thought about it myself and you would be amazed at how many Android devs use an Iphone as their daily device.

Yeah it took my friends taking me out for the weekend. Here if you leave town you have no signal at all. No phone and no data for hundreds of miles. So it was kinda easy. I really didnt miss it.

That's what I'm starting to do now, hangout with friends instead of being on the computer all day.

File location
I stumbled across this thread during my search, but while I found the answer somewhere else maybe it could help the next lost soul on it's search for revelation:
On Android 7, the accounts.db are now located on
/data/system_de/0/accounts_de.db And
/data/system_ce/0/accounts_ce.db
You'll need to copy both of the files to your new device, it worked for the most accounts. The only account I had to reconfigure was my email exchange
Hello, i was previously using galaxy note 5 with android 7 and whatsapp plus was working fine. Now i switched to op 7 pro with android 9 and every time i try to use WA plus, it says that i am temporarily banned for 20-40 mins.
Any workarounds?
What the hell is WhatsApp Plus? There's just WhatsApp that I know of. The thing where you paid a dollar once a year ended like 3 or 4 years ago. Other than that, I have no idea why you would be banned. Maybe just uninstall and just install the normal WhatsApp from the play store
Those WhatsApp Plus apps are malware magnets.
I used one version of that app like 5 years ago. They banned my acc for 10 days
It was FB greed when thy bought the company didn't want 3rd party enhanced apps doing what they couldn't. But to make the story short, it doesn't have anything to do with the phone, may just be you unlucky.
Those who don't know what app is that, well, imagine that google decides to ban all YouTube Vanced users.,?
It was already in the media a couple of times that whatsapp has been banning users with non official app. You got unlucky i guess.

Its a great app, has a lot of features that are surprisingly missing from the vanilla app. Been using it for a long time and quite frankly was addicted to it

There's no WhatsApp plus in the play store. Do you mean "Message Plus for WhatsApp"? I'm thinking you don't have an official app.
Edit... Hahaha I just read the post above this one. That's what I figured, pirate app bit you.

Careful, cause it can lead to permanent ban if you continue to push it.

If you have a custom WhatsApp APK, then you have a pirated app. It's cool we've all used them at some point.
