[Q] Can't unlock phone - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am trying to Root and unlock my Phone a Nexus S
I am using this h**p://www.youtube.co*/watch?v=GSD92Qjt5Og
Lock state show up as Locked
When Phone reboots there no option to unlock it
The Options I have are
Reboot
Reboot Bootloader
Recovery
Power off
HELP

For some reason I'm getting an invalid URL. Might be a copy paste and edit fail on my part though. Did you grab the drivers for android sdk, download adb and try the fast boot method? A google search for Nexus S fastboot OEM unlock should help. I'm on my phone and have the links saved on my PC sadly
Sent by pocket technology.

I got it thanks

Soft bricked Nexus 0with locked bootloader - HELP :(

Hey guys - I hope some of you can help me out
I have stocked Nexus 9
No developer options enabled, no USB debbuging, no allow OEM unlock!
I received OTA upgrade with which I proceed to install
But it failed somehow.
Right now it only tries to boot - reboot once and goes into the dead android sign with Unknown Command from where I can access recovery Mode
I can access bootloader but it is locked
Therefore I am not able to fastboot anything
I cannot unlock it as I did not allowed that in the settings
Is there any way around it?
Cheers

[Completed] ONYX (OnePlus X) doesn't boot after unlocking bootloader

Hello everybody,
My phone had some weird glitches, factory reset didn't work, and the capacative buttons didn't work anymore, and I had to restart the play store to install the apk after it downloaded the app. I made a new User, the buttons worked again and I could normally install apps. But it was a temporary fix, and as I couldn't factory reset I decided to unlock my bootloader because that resets your phone. So what I did is:
1. I installed all the proper drivers
2. I opened an commandprompt in the adb folder
3. I typed adb devices, it said unauthorized, I authorized it on my phone, and it said that it was authorized after that.
4. I typed adb reboot bootloader
5. I waited untill it went into fastboot mode and typed fastboot oem unlock (I had the function to unlock the bootloader enabled in developer options).
My phone rebooted after this, now it only shows the OnePlus logo and powered by android, it doesn't boot further. I can't return the phone as I bought it second hand. When I connect the phone to the laptop that I used for it (The usb cable was connected directly to the motherboard, incase that matters and it was an original 4 pin samsung cable), it recognizes it as an Android device, so I think it's a soft brick.
How to fix this? Thanks in advance.

The Unofficial Official Nokia 8 Bootloader Unlock Method

If you try to use the bootloader unlocker apk from Nokia and your Nokia 8 has an android version that's past a certain version, the apk will flat out fail with a "Device not support." error message. And chances are, your Nokia 8 will be at an incompatible android version. So to unlock the bootloader, you will need to downgrade your phone to a legitimate version of android 8.1.0 so the apk will not error out and get you a verification code. This guide will show you how. NOTE THAT THIS METHOD WILL ERASE ALL INTERNAL DATA ON YOUR PHONE.

This update zip is what you need for the TA-1004: https://android.googleapis.com/pack.../f9cb380bd9c2bf1b6ddebcab9dcf389843eb2d39.zip
It may be different for the TA-1012, but according to that earlier post, it does not seem to be the case. Nevertheless, just to be safe, here's the zip for the TA-1012: https://android.googleapis.com/pack.../139c94fd08f52fbd3b852ab4ef5c6515fffb784e.zip (I don't have a TA-1012 so I wasn't able to test this particular zip.)
So basically, to make sure there's no problems, make sure in the Developer's options on the phone that OEM unlocking is enabled, then put your SD card into the phone. Plug the phone into your computer. Copy the update zip that you need somewhere onto the SD card. Disconnect the USB cable. Shut down the phone. Then, while holding down the Volume Up button, reconnect the USB cable. You should see a sad android with "No command" displayed. Now release the Volume Up button. Then hold down the power button and then JUST PRESS once on the Volume Up button. You should be at a recovery menu. Using the volume keys, scroll down to the 'Apply update on SD card' option and select it. Select the zip that you copied over to the SD card earlier and then let it install for a while. It will probably pop up with a 'timestamp too old' error, but just ignore this. The update will install anyway. Then once it's done, do a factory reset on the phone and then shut down. MAKE SURE THERE'S NO SIM CARD IN THE PHONE.
Now that's out of the way, boot the phone up again and just click through the first-time setup screens but DO NOT ENABLE WI-FI or any kind of internet connection. We don't want the phone to update itself back to Android 9. Now plug the phone in again. Copy the bootloaderunlocker apk from Nokia's website onto the phone. Install it. Put in the email address you want the unlock key emailed to. Then voila! You'll get the verification code. Put it into the form on Nokia's website and you'll be emailed an unlock.key file. From there, the site will tell you how to proceed.

Because I don't expect people to dig around in all the Nokia 8 Guide threads to find the exact and, to my knowledge, only way to unlock the bootloader. Furthermore, I found this solution in a sort of unrelated thread, which would make the solution even harder to find for the average user.

I understant but not.
Here it's not the place for lazy ones. Or for apple boys.
Unlock, modding, ROMs are for people with other approach. So this kind of topics make more noise instead to help.
Just my 2 cents.
BTW - thank you posting "downgrade to oreo" procedure.
it s the offline one ( my choice was to use "register to beta" and" unregister").
no need SD card or something, just a good wifi connection and patience.
Thanks for this. I just noticed that the "OEM unlocking" is disabled and greyed out on my TA-1012 device. Will it still work?
I cant get into the Phone without establishing an Internet connection, any tips?
Thank you so much OP this method worked perfectly I finally was able to unlock the bootloader
There seems no way for me to get past the Wifi selection page, how did all of you got into the system?
Ok solved this one, had to Update to P remove the Google Account linked to the Device and downgrade again.
It's Part of the Factory Reset Protection that you cant skip the Wifi and Update Screens.
Thank you for posting this guide, it got me to unlocking the bootloader on my TA-1004 after I received the described "Device not support" error.
I enabled "OEM unlocking" before downgrading my firmware and the option was grayed out for me afterwards. However the bootloader unlock still worked correctly other than being forced to us a Mac as none of my windows machines would show the device in fastboot mode.

If only Nokia 8 had support for custom roms. Im stuck on the december security patch of Pie because it has a prerooted boot img posted somewhere on this forum. Ot would be fun to play around with a google-free custom rom like lineageOS. But sadly devs dont seem to give a damn about the phone

I think we can thank HMD for that by making unlocking the bootloader so difficult. I only ended up buying the Nokia 8 because I got it for such a good deal ($220 CAD) and needed a temporary phone to tide me over until I can get something better. I feel sorry for anyone who paid full price for this phone and I don't blame developers for moving to something more accessible.

Yes i understood, make sure you are using latest adb drivers.
More on it. Make sure you have USB debugging on from Developers options. Also make sure oem unlocking option is on.
1 - Connect your phone to pc while powered on.
2 - From adb folder open command prompt and type adb devices (If your device is detected in adb mode while powered on)
2.1 - if not detected in adb devices.. then go to developer settings and revoke USB debugging authorizations. then again repeat the above process in point no. 2.
3 - if detected now then type adb reboot bootloader, let it reboot in download mode.
4. then type 'fastboot flash unlock [your unlock key]' if this doesnt work then try 'fastboot -i 0x2e04 flash unlock [unlock key]'
5. after that either 'fastboot oem unlock' or 'fastboot -i 0x2e04 oem unlock'
See if this works.

Factory reset by wiping cache and data via recovery. Start over and try again.

Is there a way as of 2020 to unlock the bootloader?

Yes, I have searched the whole forum and after finding mixed answers I decided to post a question myself. I have used the Huawei Bootloader Unlock app from the Play Store in a P10 Lite and it worked fine but it says P20 is not supported. I have read on methods like disassembling the device but that's out of my range. So the question here is: Is there ANY way (apart from the disassembling one) to unlock the bootloader?
Thanks.

I asked DC_Unlocker Support if they could Unlock my Bootloader on my P10Lite with android 8 ! And they told me after Android 8, and Emui 5+ the P10Lite Devices aren't Supported now.
If their would be a Way or if anyone has an other Idea... DLoad, Flashing Roms Rollback didn't worked for me.
But i would really like to try other Ways if their would be a Chance for a Working Way to Rollback on Android 7. Couse than DC-Unlocker would Work and could Unlock the Bootloader and Root the Phone, Flash TWRP and Doing much other things.
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I'd love to know... I have my unlock code, but I have no idea how to use it. I got my code from Huawei before they stopped providing them.

First of all, enable the Developer Option
1. To Enable the Developer Option, Go to your Settings –> System -> About Phone -> Now Tap on the Build Number 7-8 Times until you see a toast message “Developer option enabled“
2. Now go to Developer optiosn in the settings and Enable OEM unlock
3. Download Minimal ADB and Fastboot
4. Turn off your phone and Press Volume Up and Power button simultaneously to open Fastboot mode or enter the command [to enter command, you need to connect your phone to PC using USB Cable]
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
5. now unlock your device’s bootloader with this command line.
Code:
fastboot oem unlock *****************
You need to replace the ****** with the unique unlock code.
Once it is done, you can reboot your phone. Now you can install TWRP Recovery, Custom Kernel, Root or even install Custom ROM. Enjoy!

Wow thanks! I'll get on that this weekend!

Device state locked.

This post is more like an explanation.
So my phone got bricked today, stuck at logo. I managed to access recovery and format data, but its stuck at formating data for more than 6 hour.
The only choice left is to unlock bootloader and flash firmware. Now here's the bull**** part.
When i try press fastboot oem unlock it says failed, device state locked. Device state can be set to unlock only through one method, by booting>going into settings>developer options>turning on oem unlocking. Doing this set your device in unlocked device state and thus allow it to unlock bootloader through fastboot. But, if your device got bricked and can't get into phone and your oem unlocking was off (average person will not set it to on) then you're ****ed, cuz without it you cannot unlock bootloader, thus you cannot install twrp or flash firmware.
This is so dumb, not even adb can set the device state to unlock. Read the last paragraph - (https://source.android.com/devices/bootloader/locking_unlocking)
There are so many post like these but no answer. so this post is for those guyz.
guess, i'll use feature phone for rest of my life
That an Android device's bootloader is locked by default isn't dumb, it has good reasons.
BTW: Flashing device's Stock ROM doesn't require device's bootloader got unlocked before.
tried flashing stock rom using adb sideload and fastboot. both failed. adb states that it cannot as it is a downgrade. fastboot says that device state is locked.
Yes, im aware that it is present for a good reason, but someone who's phone doesnt boot up has no way to unlock bootloader or do anything.
I'm not sure that I have the same problem but I have Samsung sm-t500 on the download mode says : device state lock and Im searching for FRP software but I think it won't happen because I tried too to connect via ADB and still can't connect.. But mine is still not bricked.. I will be very happy if you can give me some advice
