[Q] What ROM do you guys have? - Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G

Since there are 4 or 5 ROM's for our phones... what ROM are you guys running? Stock? Curious

There are that many? Lol I am on a rooted stock, but play with Erik's customized ROM.

There are only two that actually run from what I understand. I am currently running erikmm's rom and it runs well so far.

Im on Stock too. :silly:

Running stock and unrooted until T-mo/Samsung release ICS for this phone.
I rooted my previous phone (Exhibit 4G) and got rid of the T-mo bloat, can't wait to do the same for this phone. Only reason I haven't rooted is I worry something may interfere with the OTA update whenever it's released.

HA! Me too! On both counts! Got rid of the exhibit and got the blaze instead. Never got voicemails on that undeveloped thing. It's too bad as besides the voicemail issue I had it was a solid phone.
You should be able to get an OTA update even rooted with CWM (it is still the stock rom after all) - but you may end up needing to download the zip and do it yourself. It shouldn't be too hard to find the zip here on XDA for the stock release once it's out. I actually prefer doing it that way- it's faster -as with other devices I've owned the OTA update wouldn't go through until 3-4 days after its release (sensation 4g, streak 7). I have rooted and got CWM on my phone and removed the bloat and LOVE IT.
Coming from a 1st gen Exhibit 4G makes me thankful that so many great devs are actively developing for our Blaze. Thank you!

I still come to wonder.. What happened to the guy who was building a ROM before the blaze even released.?

Yes, very. Don't mind your brother, he's just that mad that the Shift has CM7
I'm gonna be honest, im a idiot and never did a full wipe, i just did basic wipe, Wipe dalvik cache, cashe, and data/system once and installed the rom i wanted and off i went. That was the main reason i had soooo many damn issues with roms in the past. With doing the correct way now thanks to a few guys showing me the right post, i would say either CM7(the new one 7.1.0) or Nightlies.
I normally am a sense UI lover and refused to get rid of it. but the new update on ASOP im addicted to it. i love the new ring lock system, and everything else like battery life and amazing speed with either scary or v9.

Skyrocket is now officially supported by AOKP

first off R4INS noticed this so rape his thanks button when you see him which is the 4th post of this thread
If you go to AOKP and look for skyrocket then you can download it. I would also imagine that you can find it in goo manager
Rootzwiki thread
I don't see it listed under the build 40 download page or under supported devices.
Do you have a direct link to where it shows it's supported?

It's there. Right above the stingray. Skyrocket, AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2.
Awesome to see all the official releases for the skyrocket that are starting to come out. At this rate, we won't need an official release from AT&T / Samsung to have fully working roms. Probably has something to do with the similarity between T-Mobile's S2 & the skyrocket.

There's always a benefit of root my friend. First and for most is removing bloarware (AT&T preinstalled apps that take up memory and space in background) So many other reasons why root is best. How I describe it to people is like this. Taking a Governor off a car is similar to rooting an android phone. Technically there is only one ROM made from OTA ICS right now here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1960679 but there are others in the development section built of previous ICS "Leaks" we obtained. Such as SCV7, Swifty Trix, CM10, MIUI and a stock based off OTA as well. Hope this helped explain a little. Enjoy the power of the Dark side!

Umm, cm10 is a true opensource rom and not based on any leak/OTA, it is compiled from scratch. The only files taken from ICS are a few libraries and kernel modules and the like, and those have no bearing on version of ICS they were taken from.

I am probably not an ideal tester, due to lack of technical knowledge regarding Android, but should you need a tester of the moderate abilities, and knowledge I would be more than willing to be of help if I actually was help. I currently am running the build of CM10 that is currently available, and am impressed with it, but look forward to your build with much anticipation. No, and no. No on 2nd system because it still uses the same underlying stock ICS kernel.
If you took the OTA, then you are stuck on ICS. This has been the case with major android releases and not being able to go backward for a very long time.

Regarding the lack of 4.3 TW roms

Let's face it, ML1 has been a divisive update for a phone with a community that was already dying when MF1 came out.
I had been hoping that Beans, the Synergy team, or someone else would take one more crack at our phone, but sadly I don't think it's going to happen anymore.
We should be happy with what we have though. A stock rooted knoxless 4.3 rom to nandroid back and forth from and a healthy AOSP community that should carry us through at least another year or two (or until you get a new phone).
In the end, this phone and its glorious 2GB of RAM deserved better. By all means there's nothing preventing it from running the next few versions of Android so long as Qualcomm keeps providing fresh code and drivers. But I guess Samsung and Verizon had their own plans of obsolescence.
We just got the rooted stock 4.3 in the last day or so, correct?
I'm pretty sure you'll see some magic happen over the next few weeks and we'll get updated versions of your favorite 4.2 TW ROMs. I'd be shocked if we didn't get a few. There are still many developers with this phone who love Touchwiz, so why would they sit on their hands and not make it better?
Patience is a virtue.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I think in a bit of time they'll roll out. There were a few devs that said they'd update to it, but in no way should they be held to that. We just got a base last night, so I'd wait a bit longer. Besides, xposed can do great things for a stock rom.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
It should be trivial to update/reissue the 4.1.2 roms to 4.3, but a lot of assumptions need to be made going forward.
Until somebody figures out Safestrap or Loki for the people who took the OTA and are now enknoxed, these roms should require MF1 or older. It would be horrible if somebody released a zip with the bootloader included.

Bootloader was not included in the stock rooted released last night. And I think those that jumped the gun and took the OTA may sadly be out of luck simply due to it being much less time intensive for a Dev to build of the recent stock release. Unless I am misunderstanding you.

I know the stock rooted doesn't include the bootloader, but that didn't stop me from triple checking before flashing it a few minutes ago.
I'm of the opinion that those who took the OTA are screwed just like people who did the same for the S4.

Agreed. Realistically it didn't take long at all for 4.3 to be cracked open. That will be what devs work off. Anyone on xda that knowingly took the OTA either purposely hung up their flashing habits or are really hedging their bets that someone will take the time to help the OTA folks. I just don't see that when there is this new stock release out there as a base.

Whip one up for us.

Chances are, the locked bootloader probably won't get any attention at this point. S3 is an eol device and cracking the bootloader is probably too big of a task for devs to work on now...

It's the truth, its going to take somebody porting safestrap because there is no motivation for hashcode to do it for us (most likely use the vulns in the s4)

Not really sure of the point of this thread. People were warned in advance of the ota not to take it. Now after a few weeks and some incredible work by a group of guys, we have a flashable 4.3. I guess you need to break it down into further detail to me what your compkaint is. Those who were patient and did not ota are pretty stoked right now. Those that didnt listen, well Happy New Year to all.

Kinda OT, but does Safestrap support kexec on the S4? I have been trying to port Safestrap to the S3 and *almost* got it working (everything up to and including creating and installing slots) but I can't get it to actually boot a slot. Even if I could get it to do that, w/out kexec I doubt it would get very far.
O.T.A.
I am so glad I didnt take the OTA,I dont know how I would make it without my flaching fix..I love checking out all the new roms. That new 4.3 tw that just came out on the 31 is smoking fast. The only bad thing is it started a new addiction,Xposed Framework!!LOL Im late to the party on that but Im glad I tried it(My Wife isn't):good::good:

From my knowledge it does not use kexec like what we used to use but a kind of hack to the boot.img that loads the system into memory.. The thing tho is that the s4 and n3 use the same vulns

Sane here. I jumped over to see what all of the excitement was about... Back to AOSP one day later. Couldn't stand the lagginess.

I've got my 4.3 TW flying. Set all animations to 0.25 in Dev options, and did the same in Nova. Also modded my debug.composition.dyn to gpu in the build.prop and it's rivaling my cm11 rom I was on. I know it will never be CM smooth, but the signal and camera improvements do it for me.
