Doesn't work on any ICS ROM at the moment - why can't people read the damn threads before posting the same stupid questions over and over again?
Ignore this and see my post below and the ones from Skanob and Dan-Fish

no possibilities to access sdcard without using the bootloader?

I'm going to ask a really stupid question and risk looking like an arse.
I have read, over and over again, that USB Mass Storage isn't supported under ICS. I'm not actually sure that this is true. Assuming that USB Mass Storage refers to the ability to access your SD-Card by connecting your phone to your PC using a USB cable then it works perfectly with MIUI v4 and I'm fairly sure it worked with Fallout (although I couldn't swear to that).
There was some confusion in the early days as it wasn't supported on the Galaxy Nexus, but this is actually because ICS only supports UBS MSM on devices with removable storage - they won't let you access the 'internal' memory with this process.
If Primo doesn't let you access the SD-Card in that manner then it suggests a problem with Primo - maybe caused by not having the official kernel v3 available to build off?

Ice.Cream Saga is an ICS rom whic fully supports USB Mass Storage.

Works on all ROMs unless stated otherwise. I've tried it on fallout and it works perfectly

[Q] USB harddrive connect to car - broken after OTA 2.3.4

Folks,
with custom ROMs based on 2.3.4 I experienced that I can no longer connect my Sensation via USB harddrive mode to my car's USB.
It worked with stock ROM 2.3.3, even though I had to deactivate USB debugging and turn it on again...
Yesterday I had the time to cross check:
- restored my stock ROM 2.3.3 NAND et voila: USB connection to car is working
- installed 2.3.4 OTA (Vodafone DE): USB connection to car not working...
Connection via USB to PC is working without any problems...
Anyone else experiencing probs here?
(my car is a BMW with the latest navigation system btw)
++ EDIT ++
Problem solved with Pyramid3D 7.2.0 ROM based on 2.3.5
See post 11 in this thread

Yep!
With 2.3.3 I had either to disable it when it was enabled or vice-versa to get it running... but it ran!

Dude, sure I did!!
there was a issue with with non stock kernal, maybe u need to update to latest, alternativly there was a app listed in mikes rom, to over come the problem
I am on pure stock...
Using a non-stock kernel... Maybe an option... But browsing through the threads I didn't find anything related to this issue - remember, harddisk mode with PC is working.

Did you have to do any configuring on your HU to get it to recognize the phone the first time?
Maybe clear those configurations on the HU and start over?

Yep, tried everything possible...
No config needed on car, plug-in and off it went with 2.3.3 - just toggle USB debugging on or off in phone...

Will give P3D ROM based on 2.3.5 a try...

Pyramid3D ROM 7.2.0 installed

This time even without switching debugging on or off
Hope it stays this way!!
Dies anyone know which system apk the USB disk Feature is in?
Would try to compare 2.3.4 with 2.3.5...
But maybe it's a kernel issue as well!?

[Q] Problem with mounting SD card and Internal SD

Hey guys, just recently got a G2x coming from a MT4G.
I'm on the latest CM7 nightly and for some reason I'm having a big problem getting both of my SD card and internal memory to mount. I know I have the drivers installed as I had to do so to be able to root the phone.
I plus the phone into the comp via USB and my computer doesn't read anything.
Even when I go to the latest CWM recovery (5.0.2.6) and go to Advanced and mount my USB through there it still doesn't read it.
Any reason why this is doing this?
I mounted it fine when I was on stock ROM yesterday, but having no luck mounting it now.
Any response would be greatly appreciated!
Are you using the same USB cable? Same USB port as the one that worked yesterday?

Thanks for the response.
Yes I'm using the same cable and the same USB port as yesterday. I'm dumbfounded
I know fauxs aosp rom doesn't have this problem and I think it should mount both sdcards on recovery mount storage, not too sure if it will mount internal SD on latest nightly while phone is on with debugging.

Yeah I tried it while debugging was on and off and no luck. So I just gave up and flashed WeaponG2x and it worked perfectly.... Now I just tried EaglesBlood and it still won't work!
This is so frustrating... I'm loving the phone so far but this is killing me.

Yea I hear ya, I hate how they partition these phones internal storage. Pretty much everyone that has or uses an android smartphone prefers to buy a much larger external microsd card, be it anywhere from 4-32gb. I'd rather they not partition storage and let us use that space for installing apps/games on internal then put our music or movies/media on external sdcard.
Plus issues like these where USB drivers wont detect the internal/external sdcards is very annoying and confusing when coming from a phone like we had.

Yeah seriously. I've never had this problem with any other phone. You think it's a driver problem that it works on stock based ROM's but not on CM7 based?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Yep exactly, very poor driver support from LG, read up on it on the general section and even here on q/a threads, there's tons of people that have had these issues.
Could have been avoided too if LG wouldn't have messed with the internal storage I bet.

HI
When i face this issue, i close all apps with task manager, clear ram, wait for sd to scan till 100% and attach the cable again.
Easiest and best way out is to use DualMount SD app.
its one of the best app to use, you dont have to then wait for card to get unmounted and then wait again after mounting to let scan complete before being able to use it with the lag.

Not sure what you are asking sir, I have installed these, which means I have either tested or ran the ROMs in the Dev. as far as sd card issues, there is none, now for CM9, the mount is different than Gingerbread...EMMC which means: Embedded Multi Media Card, vice the GB "ext SD" label.

Many of us with JB and 8013's are not able to us OTG devices on our Notes. I tested it yesterday with three different ROMS and none of them supported it. or a game pad.
or a umts modem... which is the problem:
I did look at the dmesg output, when I was under ICS mostly because of the current consumption, but also looking for the IR port.
I see now a big difference there, using the German JB 8000 Rom with the 8010 files.
Somewhat (perhaps a Init script) does load the OTG usb kernel modules, then load a usb modem (mif related to umts) and after a while there is a termination of a certain unknown pid, probably because of the modem not responding, which is then unloaded and also does switch off that OTG usb port and unload it's k. modules. Seconds later the whole thing is repeated again and again...
Surely also a reason why it's consuming more power, and probably the reason why other OTG devices have troubles.
I would like to help, but I don't know how android works on that (kernel) level, I had some knowledge about usb on linux 5 years ago, so I don't know how it has evolved.
If someone of you, Dear Rom Backers, could lead me to some (hardcore) knowledge about the whole startup(/wake) process.
I could investigate a bit more.
Other problem I did encounter with JB, somewhere a memory leak, my RAM slowly does fill up in a way, where I can't reset it, without rebooting.
OK I have my otg cable now, and can see the problem, but not the cause.
When I get near to something that can adb in I'll have a look, if anyones' got any pastebins of dmesg and logcat in the meantime please let me know.

Absolutely. I have an N8000 using the correct official N8000 JB firmware for the device and USB works perfectly. That's why there are different firmware versions for different devices - simple.
I have a small unpowered USB hub attached to a cheap generic USB OTG connector. I am typing this using a USB wireless keyboard and mouse and I have a Note 10.1 with 160GB of storage. 32Gb internal - 64gb using internal micro-SDXC card and 64gb with a second micro-SDXC in a micro reader attached to the hub (seen as a usb drive 1 so presumably can add more). That's 160gb seamlessly available in all programs for Video, Music, documents and whatever. Eat you heart out fruit-boys!!
