Hello there, I have a HTC Sensation Z710e which is from Vodafone and has all their branding and sim card locking stuff, lovely. I want to be able to take this phone and make it look like an ordinary unlocked phone so I can use whatever sim card I would like and also without the Vodafone branding on the device, I am a little scared about rooting my device and flashing new radios and ROMs A few months ago I received the update for ICS if that is of any use to anyone. If anyone has any good ideas on how I can completely make my phone completely stock it would be so appreciated.
Thank you
Jake

Hi,
The link in my signature will show you several guides to either s-off,or flash custom ROMS,whilst still s-on.
There is also a link for flashing a RUU to get stock.
Read,read read.
There's methods to unlocked your phone for free on the dev section. But your better of paying £15 to get it unlocked online. As for debranding your sensation just search xda for debranding sensation, or just root it and install a custom Rom.

Why go and pay £15 pounds when he can do it for free? After s-off he only needs to run the diagfile from the bootloader. Should give supercid as well for free and minimum hassle
rocking out with my android powered ics sense-ation XE B-)

Hello everyone,
This is my first post and sorry if this question was already answered, but I couldn't find the answer to my particular question when I searched for it. I just recently got my Sensation for T-Mobile a couple weeks ago and rooted it but do not have the S-OFF because of the OTA update to 2.3.4 so I used the HTC unlock method. Is there any way I can get the s-off because I am finding it difficult to flash a lot of ROMs I want to try since a lot of them either never load or they just go into an infinite boot loop? Thanks for all your help and advice and I'm hoping I can gain more knowledge thru you guys since this was a big leap for me from a Blackberry 9700.
I recently rooted my HTC Sensation and got the s off following the directions provided here on xda. Then installed Revolution HD. No issues with that either. I just followed the directions there also. Did it not work for u?

No, it didn't work for me. My friend told me that the alpharev method used here on the forums wouldn't work because I downloaded the OTA update to 2.3.4 when I first received it out of the box. He told me that only the htc unlock method would work to root my phone but I wouldn't have S-off. My phone is currently rooted right now with no s-off so certain ROMs won't flash or they will butt I'll hey errors in them.
I find that strange. I'm no expert but my Sensation was running stock Android 2.3.4 before I rooted and it reads that s is off. I went to revolutionary.io/ download for Windows filled in the info for the beta key save the zip file and and launch it then enter the beta key. Then just follow the prompts from there. Did u do that?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA App
Yup, I did exactly that a number of times but it didn't work. That's weird. Maybe someone else on here can help me get full s-off on my sensation. What's your service provider ? Cuz mine is T-Mobile and it came stock 2.3.3 but I did the OTA update and was able to root it but get no s-off
hi,
just to share my experience ... On Asian Starhub
i have updated to 2.3.4 via OTA before i root and s-off, and eventually supercid.
Followed the guide step by step.
The rooting , s-off and supercid process is smooth as butter ( as some dev quoted ).
Flashed Bulletproof 1.4 and now InsertCoin 3.3.0.
Perhaps u can provide more phone details like your current Hboot version and which part of the process you are stuck so that some experienced member can help u out easier.

Same here. 2.3.4 OTA and I am fully rooted with S-Off. Followed the guide step by step. Used Revolutionary.io with no problem. Be sure you enter your beta key in exactly, its case sensative. I'm also on TMOUS.

So it worked ok for the Sensation XE? I'm about to upgrade my phone from the Desire (s-off, root, leedroid hd 3.3.3 data++) and was wondering if the revolutionary route would work (really want the XE!). Had no issues at all with the Desire and would wait to upgrade if there were issues.
Thanks.

Sorry if I'm asking the obvious or if this has already been covered, but did you first go to the HTC dev. site and follow their specific instructions for unlocking the bootloader? If not, do that first, then use Revolutionary to root/s-off, wipe your phone to factory (I always wipe dalvik cache and cache partition, too), then flash whatever ROM and kernel you want.
Let me know if that helps any.

Very cool. Can't wait to upgrade to this phone. Sensation looked great before, but these latest two (LE screen too big for my tastes) are looking amazing!
Ok guys, thanks for the input. I'll be sure to fill you in if I'm havng any difficulties...I'll try it again today.
I'm also on Tmobile 10 plus years. After following the steps and entering the beta key added the Su zip and it kept s off. You are prop missing something in between. Make sure u are entering the right hboot of your phone otherwise the beta key will be incorrect. Did u set up connection to HTC sync when u did it?

Ok guys, I tried getting s-off again tonite. Mind you my phone is already rooted but has s-on. I have a custom ROM flashed on it currently, I ran the revolutionary app and it suddenly closed on me and i also got an unforseen FC on the home screen of the phone. I flashed back to my nandroid backup of my stock rooted ROM and still the same thing. Suggestions? I saw on another post I should try doing this on a different computer. I tried different methods of connecting the phone via usb with mounting it as a drive, charge only, htc sync but to no avail. I did have htc sync running and it did sync up properly.
I tot we should uninstall HTC sync .... Only leave the HTC drivers alone ....
Maybe someone can advise on this ....

Yes, uninstall HTC sync, leave HTC drivers alone.

Is there specific drivers I need to install? It doesn't say in the guide.
When u install , then uninstall HTC sync . The HTC sync drivers will be removed but HTC drivers remains . That's the drivers we want to keep. Alternatively , u can just install the HTC drivers. But u got to search for it elsewhere. I think its HTC 3.7.0.01 drivers or something .... ( if I can remember correctly )

Is SUPERCID always required if you want to flash a ROM?
I have a sim free UK XE, unrooted etc. I haven't felt the need to root/unlock/flash just yet, but no doubt it's just a matter of time before I do. One thing that puzzles me is SUPERCID, is it always a requirement to enable the freedom to flash ROMs, even with a sim free phone?
No it's not required.. It's only required when flashing a different region RUU... It has no role for custom roms
Thanks for clarifying that, one less thing to mess about with.

G'day champ,
Welcome back, begin with the guides provided below.
1. S-off, unlock, recovery, root & SuperCID
[Guide] to Installing S-off, Unlocking, ClockWork, Root, SuperCID & S-on
2. Install the latest firmware, 3.32 is needed for the latest base.
[Firmware][Mar 30]User-Friendly Firmware 1.17/3.12/3.24,3.30 & 3.32 Unlocked
3. Flash a ROM, Android Revolution HD(ARHD) is the most popular(for good reason)
[ROM] Android Revolution HD 6.5.5 | ICS | High Quality & Performance | 3.32.401.105
After all that, feel free to learn what you will, there's plenty to learn, it just requires reading, and problems, there's guides all over the Sensation forums, generally within the first couple of pages.
Thank you for all that. What is the firmware step for??

For what reasons exactly
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
You can root without doing supercid. Supercid is optional.
It allows you more flexibility though. Useful if you want to flash other areas/carriers rom. Personally I prefer to keep original cid.
Recently I couldn't receive ota update to ICS because I was supercid, then reverted to the original one and suddenly I received the Ota update notice.
It's up to you whether supercid or not and it's not a real concern because you can revert at anytime.
What is your current hboot version? Power off, pull battery, press & hold vol down and power to enter bootloader and read it off.
You have to check your hboot is supported by revolutionary- the tool to give you s-off.
sent from HTC Pyramid using Tapatalk
And the OTA thing... Say i update my phone..will i lose root n such..
Thanks.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
Yes you will lose everything and bootloader will become 1.27 (which is unsupported by revolutionary) Unless you have S-OFF before the update that is.
As for SuperCID, Its optional but HIGHLY recommended, As said before, it allows you to flash any firmware from any region....
If you dont have it, You MUST make sure it matches your CID or it wont boot... It can also be tricky to find one for your region (depending where you are)
It only takes a second, And its permanent and reversible
When i switch from rom to rom... Do i superwipe then flash rom everytime??
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA
You can do, but its not necessary, Have a look at the installation guide for the ROM your going to flash.... Usually if you are updating the same ROM wipe isnt needed..
If you are going to a different ROM altogether, A wipe is a MUST
Hello everyone!
It's seems to look like another "would you upgrade the phone of your GF to ICS" (which can actually lead to tensions *skip lame part*), but it's not.
I have in my hands a sensation Z710e from Korea, still running gingerbread.
Being now in Europe (more precisely in Belgium), I would expect to have the ICS stock upgrade (cf. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1570785).
But no update showing up on the phone. I guess the problem comes from the build (1.46.911.4 CL149869 RELEASE-KES) or the baseband (10.57.9035.00U_10.14.9035.09_M) which are Korean and not European.
Questions:
- Will I ever get any update of this phone, in Europe, OTA?
- Is it possible to update the baseband/build to have an European baseband (and follow OTA updates)?
- Is it dangerous (it's not my phone I don't want to brick it)?
- Should I follow this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472298 with such a korean phone? I have no S-off for now, and phone version doesn't seem supported http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/revolutionary?
Thank you in advance.
I'm not sure if or when you would get an update but I have rooted and s-offed two of my friend's phones including the sensation. I did the sensation a few months ago and they are happy with it

S-off, change your cid to the local carrier and you should get the update. You'll want to s-off before the update anyways because you can't once your hboot updates.

I'm not sure in that one actually, I thought you meant changing the country by installing a local ROM. Personally I think I would super cid, s-off, and root and then install the local stock ROM or any of the other ROMs like Android revolution and then you could unroot and turn s-on if you wanted to, but it is all extra stuff to do.

GB to ICS Update India postponed to May 14th
dude dont worry you will definitely get the update... we in India are scheduled for next month
S-OFF takes 10mins.
Change CID take 10 seconds lol
Do them 2 steps and the Update should come through.
You dont have to CID, Just change it to unbranded Europe. But superCID is better and isnt any more complicated
Hey Bharat...
Who told u about our update next month? Ive been hounding those guys for days and they seem to have no clue...

i see...funny it never mentioned that in that post/forum
I believe that thread was made before ice cream sandwich came and the new partitions it brought. I assume most of the people who ever used the thread had a sensation from gingerbread, or bought one that came with gingerbread and sim unlocked before the jump to ics. so it doesnt really come up :/
once you are s-off you can flash back to gingerbread easily enough though. make back up of your rom, then visit the firmware thread and download the revolutionary firmware. also download your current firmware. place revolutionary firmware onto the sdcard and let it flash from the bootloder. then follow the sim unlock guide. after that works then flash back to ics using the firmware your phone had. either .32 or .33
if your rom doesnt boot after its all done then boot to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache.
Thanks for the help but I ended up just downgrading in a way to the Samsung Galaxy S 4G ...cause T-Mobile ended up blacklisting my sensation :/
