Yes, I've had that too while I was running Slim. Have you tried Aokp rom? I usually use wifi tether from play store works good.

Hmmm.. that's weird. Try using Wifi Tether For Root Users, its just as good as using the baked in wifi hot spot.
If wifi tether gives you some kind of error, follow this:
1. Turn off Wifi Tether, if its running.
2. Go to setting -> Device-Profile & check "Generic ICS.
3. While in setting go to -> Setup-Method & check WEXT (ad-hoc)
4. Your good to go.

Many ways. I think the common link is the wifi config file. I usually just delete and force a new file creation. Too complicated to explain.
I am coming from Sprint and usually after being rooted kernaled rommed you can unlock sprint hotspot so you can teather for free. Is this the same for Verizon or is there a special way it needs to be done?

Download and install that app. Start the app, go to settings. Change device-profile to Samsung Fascinate and setup-method to softap for samsung (master). Change SSID and add encryption if you want. Then use that app to tether and it should work fine.
Thank you very much I will try this out. I will not be charge for this right?

I have not had that issue, now or in the past using 3.0 pre 12. Might be because I'm not using the encryption.

Reason I choose not to run encryption is... Using a PC I have no issues with encryption. When trying to tether my nook color
it will not work with encryption enabled. So instead of changing settings everytime I bounced from one unit to another, I simply disabled encryption and rely on access control. Sometimes I have my pc and nook going at same time also.

Wait so it will not work with the generic icons? That is a shame, because the generic icons allow saving of phone numbers to default to Google not the phone. To me this is more valuable than att hot spot. They make me pay for a 3gb LTE plan without offering LTE in my area, I never exceed 1/2 gb on a given month.

Try the wifi tether app available for download on Google code. Set its setting to generic ICS and it'll still let you tether just not through the wifi hotspot app

No the device I'm trying to connect can see it but won't connect and I get no errors on the apps that I have tryed

huh that is a strange one.
Only time that I have seen that was a problem with profiles.
On the app try and use a different ssid (wireless name) that you have never used before and try again.
That seemed to fix it for me in the past.
