How to Unlock Verizon Hotspot after being rooted kernaled and rommed? - Verizon Droid Charge

I am coming from Sprint and usually after being rooted kernaled rommed you can unlock sprint hotspot so you can teather for free. Is this the same for Verizon or is there a special way it needs to be done?

Download and install that app. Start the app, go to settings. Change device-profile to Samsung Fascinate and setup-method to softap for samsung (master). Change SSID and add encryption if you want. Then use that app to tether and it should work fine.

Thank you very much I will try this out. I will not be charge for this right?

Does the encryption work for you? When I set it up it hangs on authorizing when trying to connect, when I remove encryption it connects fine

Works fine for me. I enable the second encryption option and leave the first unchecked.

I have not had that issue, now or in the past using 3.0 pre 12. Might be because I'm not using the encryption.

Reason I choose not to run encryption is... Using a PC I have no issues with encryption. When trying to tether my nook color
it will not work with encryption enabled. So instead of changing settings everytime I bounced from one unit to another, I simply disabled encryption and rely on access control. Sometimes I have my pc and nook going at same time also.

You don't need a new ROM to tether. Just root with superoneclick and install barnacle and/or pdanet.

Native tethering is better than an app. Also, I think the carriers are detecting and cracking down on tethering apps.

I've never had a problem using barnacle or pdanet for the many years I was on T-Mobile. I always used at or just over my allotted 5GB of data, too.

Real USB Tethering for Stock ROM

Hi there,
We've just developed on Motorola Defy an app for real USB Tethering,
Can anyone test it on DroidX?
It can share your Motorola's internet connection to your pc!
It's a real tethering not a simply MODEM Tethering, you should NOT pay extra cost to your Carrier!
The app is TOTALLY FREE, thread on xda:

[Q] Error setting up Motorola a/c.

Have been facing this error since they day i flashed stock Deodexed ROM on my atrix and whenever i click on system updates or on social networking app asks me to setup an a/c which i am not able to.
It shows its communicating with the server but after few sec it shows connection failed i have tried connecting it through 2g, 3g, 4g and even WiFi with few other roms too but just helpful.
Hope i get a Soln for this error.
Try downloading Cheesecake and switching to the default production server from there... worked for me.
Or the actual file you will need to look is in /system/etc/motorola/com.motorola.blur.service.blur/defaults.xml
It should read:
<map><string name='blur.service.update.check_order'>fota,bota</string><string name='blur.service.ws.useApnProxy'>0</string><string name='blur.service.ws.masterCloud'>master-blur.svcmot.com</string></map>

Yes, it looks like you are on the master-lab.blurdev.com server as default. You can try and change it in the xml to the line that I posted in the previous post with root explorer, then reboot, see if that does it..
Or like I said, you can just switch the server in cheesecake back to the production server.. but not sure if that's a permanent fix or not... but it does the trick.
I have suffered from this problem for a while when trying to build my own rom - and that default.xml was the file I changed to make everything ok.
Damn cheesecake - soo good, yet it can mess you up..
Finally cheesecake made it i am now able to check for updates and my social networking app too is working. Thx.

I may get a GS3 but only if I can do a couple things ...maybe one thing. Can we remove the annoying, persistent WiFi notification in a stock ROM that's rooted and clockworked? Thank you!

There is also a dialer code you can type in that will give you the option to turn it off.
Why would you need to be crazy to get a GS3?
Edit: IIRC it still shows up in the same spot after the code, but it shuts up about saying you should use Wifi and such
(been a while since stock, my bad)

I've read of some XML edits that can remove it but it'd need to be stock. I run stock, rooted so it'd need to be removable from the stock ROM. I wouldn't wanna see it in my notification bar or the pull down. And crazy cause I've had about a dozen phones in a year. I have a problem.

No internet access even after factory reset

My friend just gave my brother her Optimus V and according to her a few days ago it stopped getting WiFi access. She had it activated, but won Iphones. He says it was just working on our friends secure network. At our house it connects to WiFi, but has no internet access. I did a reset. Didn't change. Got a new ROM, changed the SD card, wiped data, cache, dalvick, installed new ROM and gaps. Still no internet access. Its an open WiFi which my computer and phone are working fine on

Nope. I don't know who's it is but its our main internet connection. And if I had not been miss informed that it did work on others except this one I might not have bothered anyone with it. But if anyone else can figure it out it would still be help full. Every other device can connect to it and this one used to. And it can connect to any other network

Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda app-developers app
Ok, so if you've deleted cache and all that, and you deleted & re-added the network, and even reflashed a ROM and it still doesn't work, I'd say the next step is the router, which you (apparently) don't have access to. I would like to reset the router, and even check its settings, ideally.
Have you tried a different ROM, or flashing back to stock?

I wouldn't flash that oldbbfix.zip. Your issue is a wifi one, and that file may make you lose cell signal.
Well luckily we don't have to worry about signal just Wi-Fi. Still no go yet. I'm gonna hopefully access the router. Me and my friend did it once
