I was running stock 2.3.6 and attempted to root it using Odin. During the process, it was stuck on cache.rfs for a long time...I took the battery out and turned on the infuse again. This time it said I needed to do recovery mode. Kies woulnd't recognize the device. So I went back into download mode and tried GTG Ultimate Unbrick. This isn't working because it keeps getting stuck at factoryfs.rfs. It's currently there now, and its been here for at least 15min. I've tried closing Odin, retrying, removing battery and SD and trying but nothing is working! I'm not sure what to do. :/

If you can still get into download mode, you aren't hard bricked. That's a good thing
As for recovering your device. This has happened to me multiple times. There are about a million different things I've tried. 1. Simply use a different USB port, 2. Try a different cable it it's available, 3. Use a different version of ODIN, 4. Try using the heimdal method, 5. Completely uninstall the drivers for the phone and then reinstall them.
Try all of these, not necessarily in that order. I tried last time and it turned out all I needed to do was switch computers for god knows what reason. Good luck!
I'm trying Heimdall right now. Will let you know how it goes..
So as I click flash, it starts...but then it says drivers not found so I click their "Reinstall Drivers" and then after 5min, the installation fails.
I got past the driver error. Now what it tell me is:
Uploading KERNAL
0%
>Then it says
KERNAL upload failed
Ending session...
I have managed to successfully run the Heimdall. But now it turns on and goes into recovery everytime. I wiped data and cache. SOMEONE HELP PLEASE?
I have had a similar experience. My flash would freeze at random points and never complete. This was using my laptop with windows 7. Tried a different computer (same brand, same OS,same USB cable) and it worked fine. This was the case for SOC and ODIN.

Hi
I may have bricked my phone.
So I did what everyone did this morning and flashed ep1q via cwm.
I got the boot loop.
Then I tried via odin.
Odin gets stuck at Initialization.. I waited for 30 mins before yanking and trying again.
I have now tried just to get a working phone using PIT file and stock roms.
When I turn on the phone I do not get the samsung splash screen. I get a computer and phone icon with a line connecting them.
Anyone have a suggestion?

now did you get it to work with a stock rom?
get your file from another source.
if you are on a desktop try putting the usb in the back of your tower.
make sure you have the correct drivers installed
maybe try a diff usb cable?
just a few ideas. hope it helps

No clarification needed. We have all seen that screen. It means your recovery is broke, you need to ODIN a stock image and start over. Check out the thread entitled "How to Fix Your Phone"
Can someone please help me?
Every time I try to flash a ROM using ODIN, it gets stuck on the movinand.bin.
My phone also says, "RX_TIMEOUT" in red.
I can't get past this. I'm stuck. Can someone please give me some assistance.
Make sure you put the battery back in after you get it in download mode. And use the stock ee4 and the pit file when you flash.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk
I've done both. I use a PIT file, and a stock EE4 to return the phone back to factory state.
Everything seems to load up fine, then gets stuck on factoryfs.rfs.
Phone again shows RX_TIMEOUT.
Is it possible that it has something to do with running it in bootcamp on a macbook?

ok.. i was on s7/hellraiser with infusion kernel. since running this rom, my pc no longer recognized my phone. i tried flashing a rom thru cm7 but got stuck on the samsung logo. after, i tried flashing back to s7 & infused, as they are both on my sd card, thru red CWM, but im still getting stuck at the samsung logo. my pc wont recognize the phone to odin back to stock so.... wat can i do??? plz and thnx
Did you try using Heimdall? Some have better luck with that. A factory data reset might fix your problem, because you seem to be flashing a lot of roms over each other. The bootloop might be fixed by a reset, if not try again with Heimdall. Otherwise I don't know what to tell you
Edit: Try using a different USB Port on the computer or even a different PC all together. Also try using another cord.

sounds like a driver issue. install ubuntu and use heimdall. that'll fix any driver problems
try pulling the batter and inserting it with odin open, the usb cable inserted, and holding down the volume bar. after that doesn't work delete and reinstall the drivers. or go with linux and never have a driver issue with the phone again ( may have driver issues with video and wifi and attached devices though)

in heimdall once you load all the files (no pit because you don't have bootloaders) click flash or start or whatever. if the phones isn't connected it will let you know.
there is also heimdall oneclick return to stock. set the. jar file as executable and launch in terminal. the thread on oneclick should explain the comand needed and how to install heimdall backend from inside heimdall oneclick (if you don't have it already.)
did you install the android SDK
Please help me. My Infuse 4G doesn't boot. All I see was light on the button. This what happened. I want to go back to stock and use [ODIN][UCKE3] Return to stock (Updated 06/08/11) by gtg465x . I right click on Odin and run as Admin. Odin see my phone on a download mode. I select infuse.pit on PIT, PDA in Pda, and Phone in Phone. then click Start. It got stuck at factory.fs (don't remember the name actual name). It stuck there for so long, maybe like an hour. Then I decide to unplug and pull battery out. close the Odin and redo the step again. This time the status bar went half way and then got stuck again. I left it overnight just to see if it's actually finish and it never did. Just stuck there. Turn the phone on and i only see light on the button. Is my phone dead? I can still able to get to download mode but the phone won't boot.
I done return to stock so many times and was successful. This was the first encounter I had where Odin stuck and never complete it flashing.
Try things like reinstalling the drivers, another pc, another usb cable etc.
Thanks. Will try that and also i will try this [ODIN][UCKD5] Odin - Stock (100% or Root+3e) - (Update 06/05/11) since on FAQ #4 seem to be in my case. But if members had other recommendation, please post. thx in advance

Getting stuck on the factory.fs is pretty common here. You might try charging for a bit to see if you can get it to show signs of life. And that link up there^^^(UCKD5 Stock+Root+3e) has worked for me when gtg's didn't. Read the instructions for it carefully as you don't have to check as many boxes. You only need to load the file into the PDA slot. Also if you didn't have the drivers installed your phone wouldn't show up, so that's not your problem (although you could try re-installing them for **** and giggles)...
If THAT doesn't work try Adam's Heimdall one click HERE
If all else fails try a different PC. I had to and it worked like a charm.
Good Luck

plugged it in before the problem and if it doesn't find threw phone restart they computer and re put the phone in download mode and try again and keep doing that till it recognizes the phone and it should work then

Some times just trying a different USB port on the same computer will help to. Not sure why but on my laptop the USB port on the right my Captivate did not like for flashing but the one on the left side always worked right.
Thank you all for helping me out. My infuse is now back in business. I use [ODIN][UCKD5] Odin - Stock (100% or Root+3e) - (Update 06/05/11) but this one got my phone to always boot in recovery mode no matter what i did. So i decide to try Heimdall One-Click Back-To-Stock UCKJ4 + Easy CWM install [2.3.6] (FOR AT&T USERS) and then flash LinuxBozo's Defuse 1.5 kernel. Successfully flash it . However after using Heimdall One-Click, ODIN did not see my phone when it's in download mode. Besides that, everything went well.

Give us more info. What are you flashing from (FROYO or GB)? Why KG4 kernel? Are you trying to change your modem?
This.. charge your phone to full then try and enter dl mode if its not letting you in you may need a USB jig if your on a Samsung device. I'm only assuming because Odin usually uses Samsung stuff from my experience.. otherwise need a lot more info

Will your ROM load?
i loaded the md5 on pda then i started it but it got stuck and my phone powered off, that's it.
So you have a galaxy s4g? Can you get into recovery with a full battery?

yup i have a gs4g but when i try to enter recovery the same message appears firmware upgrade fail
Will you ROM load?
nope it won't load
Even though you can't get into recovery... plug your phone in and see if ODIN recognizes it.
You should try starting ODIN again obviously with your phone plugged in. See what happens.

If you are able to get Odin to recognize your phone, i would redo the whole thing again, maybe it was just a bad flash.
If it happens again, try re-downloading the kernel, and redoing it again.
What step were you on in the guide? IF you flashing the kernel should be step 11. Sounds like your phone ran out of battery. If you plug it into the wall charger does it charge?
i was in step 11 and my phone was 80% charged before i entered download mode. When I plug in charger the same screen pops up and odin doesn't recognize it now.
are you entering DL by the battery pull method? Odin should see it that way. I've had to try a lot of times in the past to get odin to recognize the phone but it always does.
yup the battery pull method, i've tried like 6 times but no luck
plug into a different usb port on the computer. close odin reopen it and try six more times.

restart ODIN. Reread the thread you were using and check and double check the settings.
If you can boot your ROM. And still on stock. Use this thread.
My infuse was running aokpcb rom. i made a backup of my previous rom, AEON v1.3.1. i restored using nandroid back to AEON but when i reboot its stuck at the samsung screen. I tried GTGs Odin back to stock multiple times using different ports but it always gets stuck at factoryfs. i even rebooted the computer and tried it again but still no good. I've used Odin back to stock a couple times before so im used to the program. now ive ran out of ideas and i would greatly appreciate the help. THANKS

+1 odin sux. it's funny how some independant guys can reverse engineer what it's doing and write something better.
Happens to my Infuse all the time now, even using Heimdall. I just pull the battery, get back into the alternate download screen, reload the drivers (if necessary) on the pc and re-run Heimdall. It always seems to get stuck twice, but works the third time. The last time I took it to stock & did a "factory data reset", just to see if that would clear up whatever the issue was. Unfortunately (?), I haven't tried going back to stock since.

Heimdall is great when properly set up and WHEN IT WORKS. What I do, and this'll bring it back from pretty much anything, is use gtg unbrick, and if it doesn't boot from that flash, (and mine doesn't because its a rogers ) , i then flash the Odin stock lb3 pack, and boom back to normal no matter what I flashed. I imagine if you're running an at&t model , you shouldn't have to do the second step. Be sure to remove the battery and reinsert at least once on any from flash to be sure its not booting correctly before going to another step. Also be sure drivers are correctly installed through kies or kies mini. I find this is easiest with Odin because it clearly shows you in bright yellow that the download connection has been established.. many times i' very had to reinstall the kies drivers, I don't know why.. but try this , and like I say once you see yellow in Odin in phone download mode, you know you're set. Once again, like this kies/gtg/try booting/if no boot/pull battery try boot again/ if still no boot Odin lb3 stock and then flash a recovery kernel to regain cwm..
