I just downloaded the latest update for windows phone, and they said that one of the improvements was that I could export contacts from my phone to the SIM card now. But I still can't find a option or something that lets me export my contacts. Can someone help me on this? Thanks in advance!
Yeah, me too Seems that such an option exists for a limited number of Windows Phones.
Also there is no Location Services Icon in the status bar when an app uses my location, do you have the same problem?
At least the WiFi Bug seems to be fixed.
Same situation here with my Titan.
Don't see the option to Export contacts to SIM and the icon doesn't appear...
2nd generation windows phones also got Voice notes and ringtones via mms. 1st Gen did not... used cabsender on my titan... i got the options... same packages to wifes surround and coworkers trophy, and they only get picture and video for attachments.
en, i can't do this too, it's hard to use wp7 to do such a simple function:crying:

The weird thing is that I have a LG E900 (1st Gen) and while I don't have the option to add a voice note to a message (MMS), I do have the option to add pictures and videos and ringtones.

Hi all,
I'm writing a program that imports our contacts into the Contacts db on the phone so they show up in the Contacts app, are available for caller id to draw from, etc. I've got it working the way we want on the emulator and the Motorola Droid. When I go to Menu --> View, I can see our application with a check box next to it, and when it's checked, our contacts show up fine.
However, when I try the same thing on the HTC Evo, the contacts don't show up in People, and I don't have our application listed in the View menu. The contacts show up when I do a search within People, and when the contact calls the phone, their contact info shows up fine.
The contacts I'm testing our application with aren't in the phone already ;-) They're special test cases with unique names; that's how I'm able to determine they are actually coming from our app.
I sort of get the feeling this is a HTC Sense issue, but I don't have a way to confirm that right now. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.
I remember reading somewhere that its not possible to do video or picture messaging on windows phone 7 is that a carrier issue or did microsoft leave that out? will that be implemented in the future?
picture messaging works fine, its video messaging that is missing. Not sure when its gonna get added. Seems that was MS decision (though carriers could have pushed for it).

Picture messaging works fine, you can receive video messages, but you cannot send them (except that you can forward video messages that you have received).
Not on this phone
Interesting, no my htc surround on at&t does not receive video messages not to mention not being able to send them. This is my biggest beef with wp7. A good laugh at lunch would be appreciated. Dumb phones can do this. Is it too lowbrow for Ms and their metro UI? It may seem trite but the wp7 is a visual medium. Video messaging goes hand in hand with social networking and is sorely missed.
Have most WP7's always been able to receive video messages, or is that something that came with the NoDo update? I don't remember it ever working and the next day after installing the updates I received one.

There is no way a carrier pushed for the lack of video messaging in WP7, when every other smartphone OS on every other carrier does it.
Video messaging is never an issue for them because there are size limitations in MMS and most if not all phones compress (rather heavily) the video, anyways, just as they do teh photos.
It just sucks because a lot of people still have feature phones and Picture/Video MMS functionality is a must for communicating with these people.
Ask winpho support on twitter & they said they had no info when vid msgs were coming...Pisses me off.....

MMS messages can be sent & received but they just show a static image & don't play. This has been the case since before NoDo.

I have a problem with the native sense people/sms app. I have two contacts both having similar numbers i.e. one is +9198XXXXXXXX and other is +9199XXXXXXXX
HTC app does not differentiate between the two. Thus if I receive a call or message from one it shows under the name of the other. In case of messages app even the received from number shows as that of the other contact!!!
You can imagine the problems I am having when having to communicate with these two people. I even tried a third party message app like Go SMS but since the contacts are linked at the contacts app level Go does not distinguish between them.
Can anyone help please.
Hey I am having the same problem. I have my father No. +966505xxxxxxx and my brother has +966555xxxxxxx. The Sense is unable to differentiate the two and when my father calls me, it shows me my brother name... Using Stock ROM...
Have you checked to see if the contacts are linked? In the contacts app go to menu> more> linked contacts

No they are not linked...
I had this problem in old Nokia phones.
My iPhone identified the two contacts.
But sensation cannot identify the contacts as 2 different ones.
Not linked. Dont have this problem on the Samsung Galaxy S II. So I think its an HTC issue
No mention of the new start screen purportedly coming in with the 7.8 update....so....its "Tango" eh?
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-US/howto/wp7/basics/update-history.aspx
Change Log:
Update 7.10.8773.98
Messaging. Adds new messaging capabilities to your phone. You can now attach multiple pictures, videos, audio notes and ringtones to text messages.
SIM card. Adds features related to SIM card contacts. You can now export phone contacts to a SIM card and selectively import SIM card contacts to your phone.
Other quality improvements. Includes many other improvements to Windows Phone.
This update is not available in all markets or for all phones.
8773 is Tango. (there's also 8779 - which is still Tango with some (?) improvements or fixes)
Interesting though, I visited the page earlier today and 8107 was the latest update shown there.
@ZetaZynK is correct. WP7.8's feature list isn't announced yet (aside from the new Start screen). Tango, which is what you listed, is already being pushed to some phones. WP7.8 won't start arriving until probably late in the fall.

Here is something that doesn't make sense to me. Okay it's cool that you can now add a ringtone as an attachment but if you send it from your WP to another What the ????? All you can do is listen to it but not save it to your ringones on your phone? Really? What's the use?
i don't think so, :cyclops:but 7.8 is closer for us
I just got my HTC HD7 Tango update in two installments and I still don't see the phone to sim contacts feature. I initially thought the Tango update will come in three installments as someone posted here some time ago but I got two....is there a problem? and can it be the reason why I don't see the phone to sim contact transfer feature?
Anyway my build number after install is (8773).
Which build is the (8779)?
