[Q] Not turning off , rebooting instead . - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Stock .30 ,
when docked , if i turn it off by clicking ok it will often shutdown and boot up again . When you press the power button , hey presto , home screen is there . Occassionally getting a gmail notification when I thought it was asleep .
Even did a forced shutdown only to find it woke up again .
Doesn't happen undocked .... bugger

Its probably doing that because it thinks its being charged by AC power. If turned off and undocked, if you plug your TF into AC power, it will turn itself on. Try doing a factory reset. If that doesn't fix it, you may need to consider returning it if you are still within your store return date. And if you go that route, i would exchange both the TF and the dock because its difficult to say which one is the culprit.

Cheers mate , you are right , I have only noticed it when on AC power .
Feel better now .
Thanks

Help- on/off power button malfunction.

Orbit2 - the on/off button at the top is non responsive . It means when my backlight turns off I have to reset the device to use it again. I have disabled the backlight timeout for now,but it is an extra drain on the battery and im worried if the device turns off I will not be able to turn it on again. Any solutions ?
Is this an problem anymore?
Got the same now, an opened the device.
The button is mountet at 4 points, at mine 2 are brocken => no contact, no function...
After being quoted 100quid to fix it, I changed the settings so any button will take the device out of sleep mode. It is not fixed but this way works ok .

I have the same problem but can't find the setting that will allow me to un-sleep my phone with any button.
I use rom: 3LIT3_VIII_Full NLD
I think that these setting has been disabled in the rom.
Is there a register setting?
thanks
I do not know anything about roms.
You can turn off sleep mode in the battery saver I think. But means your battery gets used more quickly . The other way I tried was in the settings where any button will turn off sleep mode. This way was better.
Same problem! Although me being the idiot that I am have just dropped the battery and have no way of turning it back on. Any ideas?? Anyone?
Just plug your charger in press the camera and reset then you should get the spl screen then press the reset to boot into windows. This will only work if you are getting power ie from your charger or usb.

Is your phone led lighting up when plugged in ? If not could be usb not working,if it is could be your camera button knackered to so can't get to the spl screen.
Then plug your phone in then do a hard reset except dont press the send button then you should boot into windows without loosing any data.

[Q] Odd issue I started having all of a sudden

Just over the past 2 days my GTab would go to sleep and refuse to wake up. Hitting the volume rocker did not wake it up and neither did hittng the power button. So I set the screen timer to never and set it in my Malata dock and had it sitting there running clock. After 2 or so hrs. (was not in the room) tab shut itself down.
Took about 30 min of hitting the volume and power button repeatedly before it decided to reboot.
Is this something to be concerned about? is my tab about to brick itself? It just happened all of sudden and I was caught of guard.
I have been running TnT lite 4.2 since purchase with no issue outside of market. Now all of sudden this.
Should I roll the rom back to stock and start over? or is there something I need to be looking at?
I know I can adjust the screen timer, but is there an actual "sleep" setting I can adjust?

Hey, I don't know if this might help. I read this on the Nvidia dev. page a while back concerning the Tegra 250 & Tango board which is what I believe we have in the G Tablet (I could be wrong!)
"Due to a problem with the battery charge controller on some Tango units, you must charge the battery ever 2-3 weeks. If you find that the battery is plugged into the charger but remains at <7% charge, please try charging the battery for 6-12 hours. If the battery remains at <7%, please contact NVIDIA as the battery needs to be replaced.
In certain power saving configurations, touching the screen or "Android buttons" at the top of the device is not adequate to wake the device. To work around this, try inserting or ejecting the SD Card to wake the device. Failing that, you will need to reset or power cycle the Tango. Alternatively, please set the screen timeout to 30 minutes (Menu->Settings->Display->Screen Timeout)."
I have no idea if this will help, but hopefully it will.
Good Luck.
Thanx for that info. I did try pulled the SD card thinking that might force it to reboot, but it did nothing. The unit was is in fact shut down, not sleeping. It took alot of button pushing to get the unit power on. Now that it's up and running again, I have gone through all the sleep settings and it still happens. The longer I let it sleep, the more likely it shuts itself down.
Gonna call viewsonic today and see if I can get any help from their and.

sleep of death? my tab wont respond to anything

I had my tablet for 2 days now but it all of sudden, the tab became unresponsive.
I was using it this morning and it went to sleep (I didn't lock it with button), and when I went back to turn it on, and that's when I found out it was dead.
the tablet does not respond to power button, charger or computer.
Anyone have a similar fault?
I can't believe I have to send this back to hk now for repair.
Have you tried turning it on to either download or recovery mode?
What is that mode?
I got it to turn on finally while tryibg bunch of random combos (volumn down + power) and (volume up and power)
etc
Try holding power button on for up to 20 secs worked for someone on the av forums
my tab every two days just freezes.... i have to press power for a few sec for it to reboot
Had a similar issue recently. When my device went to sleep it wouldn't wake 'normally' I could hear the volume up/down sounds but no picture. had to hold down for an extended period to reboot.
I checked what was using the most battery and it turned out to be "media" I had some issues w/ my ext SD card recently and noticed when I removed it all was fine.
so that was my solutions (as for why my SD card is giving me grief, that's anther yet to be determined issue) but atleast it 'wakes' normally and my battery doesn't drain like crazy.
I have the same problem - Tab go to sleep mode and death. Nothing is working. Have anybody idea what to do with it. I have only 1 idea - take it to service
Edit - Problem solved ;-) Conect Tab to PC while pressing VolDown. It start charging and after while you can start device.
I've got a similar issue. When you hit the power button to wake it from sleep, nothing works and you barely see the bottom taskbar. Reboot obviously fixes it. It happens pretty randomly every other day or so.
Hi , i was just thinking it may be of some help if you posted more info .
What ROM you are running .
What ROM you loaded before this one .
How you loaded the ROM you are currently running .
The reason I ask is that these problems may be ROM related and if thats so
you may help others to avoid the same problem .
Oh by the way , I have had this same problem show up with other devices and also
with computers not booting and it was caused by a SD card .
P.S good luck wish i could help .

[HELP] Stock 5.0.1 phone power up issue

Hello,
I flashed the latest LRX22C image on my nexus 5 today.Had flashed it clean, wiping data, cache and system etc except the Internal Storage. Then I flashed the SUPERSU 2.37 ZIP .Everything was fine for about 4 hours. Then suddenly when I pressed the power button to turn the screen off,it was not turning off and the "Switch off" mode was popping up instead .Then, when I got a call,it switched off.The phone won't turn on again. It starts, the Google Boot Splash appears and the bootanimation starts for like 2 seconds and it switches off.Same thing for bootloader mode.
Please Help me!
EDIT: Now its turning on by itself and switches off in 2 seconds!
Sounds like a bad power switch to me, but of course that is just my opinion. :good:
sounds like a mech issue.
legit isue
I have the same problem on mine now... Basically my phone powered down around 45%. Battery. At the time i thought it was dead... But it wasnt. When i would plug into external power, either usb or through wireless charging it would power cycle continuously at the android splash screen.... (1 to 2 second intervals - even if i booted into fastboot) Interestingly it would never go to the battery charging mode. But automatically boot on charge... It did this for about 6 hours then i gave up and left it unplugged for a day. I plugged it back in and it started power cycling again, however this time on its third boot it came back to life . thats when i discovered i still had 40% battery... I dont know what exactly made it boot but it did. Oddly also on boot, it started optimising apps and finishing install again. I checked the md5 before I installed the update so no issue there. Since it powered up i have powered the phone off using the power button long push and let the phone power down. After doing this when i plug the phone in to usb charge it goes to the charge screen. No issue. That said, if i try to power up while tethered and charging it will not allow it. It just stays at the charge screen. As soon as i unplug the usb the power button allows the phone to power up and work... When booted up it charges as normal when plugged in. Im convinced there is an issue with the power management drivers or drivers for the button controls. My phone worked fine until the 5.0.1 update was installed. On my nexus 5. Anyone else or just us two? Ive had a hard time finding people posting on this issue.

[Q] xperia z3 not respondig

hello,
I had left my phone to charge at night, then this morning it was not responding. Power button was not waking up the phone. Then i forced to reset by power and volume buttons. Vibrated 3 times and completely shut off. Now it is not opening.
I already tried, reset button in sim cards slot. It is not working also. Please help me.
Did you try connecting it to PC Suite or FLashtool? Check that once and also try charging another hour and then force reset the phone. Also I think there is a reset button somewhere under the sim card slot. Try that one too.
Hold volume up and press power. Wait for beep three times. Give it a few seconds and then press power alone, should boot.
Thanks guys, i tried both but still i have sudden death. reset button and power+volume buttons not working. Also flashtool could'nt find my device.
Thats not good, any led when plugged in?
I had a similar instance after flashing unofficial cm12. Phone was cooling down from taking a run through an obvious cpu bug that really killed my battery. I shut it off to cool down with 20 precent still left in the battery. And the phone started to act this way when I went to power it on. No led power indicator or anything even with usb connected. My computer did respond to the usb being connected as if a device was there though. I waited about 10 minutes with the phone in front of some cool air and then did the volume up power button reset which worked then. Still quite a scary incident.
