Hello,
I flashed the latest LRX22C image on my nexus 5 today.Had flashed it clean, wiping data, cache and system etc except the Internal Storage. Then I flashed the SUPERSU 2.37 ZIP .Everything was fine for about 4 hours. Then suddenly when I pressed the power button to turn the screen off,it was not turning off and the "Switch off" mode was popping up instead .Then, when I got a call,it switched off.The phone won't turn on again. It starts, the Google Boot Splash appears and the bootanimation starts for like 2 seconds and it switches off.Same thing for bootloader mode.
Please Help me!
EDIT: Now its turning on by itself and switches off in 2 seconds!
Sounds like a bad power switch to me, but of course that is just my opinion. :good:
sounds like a mech issue.

I have the same problem on mine now... Basically my phone powered down around 45%. Battery. At the time i thought it was dead... But it wasnt. When i would plug into external power, either usb or through wireless charging it would power cycle continuously at the android splash screen.... (1 to 2 second intervals - even if i booted into fastboot) Interestingly it would never go to the battery charging mode. But automatically boot on charge... It did this for about 6 hours then i gave up and left it unplugged for a day. I plugged it back in and it started power cycling again, however this time on its third boot it came back to life . thats when i discovered i still had 40% battery... I dont know what exactly made it boot but it did. Oddly also on boot, it started optimising apps and finishing install again. I checked the md5 before I installed the update so no issue there. Since it powered up i have powered the phone off using the power button long push and let the phone power down. After doing this when i plug the phone in to usb charge it goes to the charge screen. No issue. That said, if i try to power up while tethered and charging it will not allow it. It just stays at the charge screen. As soon as i unplug the usb the power button allows the phone to power up and work... When booted up it charges as normal when plugged in. Im convinced there is an issue with the power management drivers or drivers for the button controls. My phone worked fine until the 5.0.1 update was installed. On my nexus 5. Anyone else or just us two? Ive had a hard time finding people posting on this issue.

I was taking a video, and finished it, when suddenly the phone froze up and turned off. I've been using MIUI, and while it's mostly pretty stable, reboots and crashes happen, so I just rolled my eyes. But since then it's been completely dead. I couldn't turn it on, even after taking the battery out several times, can't put it into recovery or download modes, and it's been connected to the charger for about ten minutes now and still nothing.
I haven't flashed anything for ages, haven't done anything odd with the phone at all, I have no idea what could have provoked this. Please help, I can't imagine what I'd do if my phone was permanently dead.
Samsung Galaxy SII with MIUI weekly ROM (currently 2.4.27)
Things I have tried:
Long press power button to turn it on (obviously)
Same thing after taking the battery out for ages
Press Vol up + Home + Power to put it into recovery
Press Vol down + Home + Power to put it into download
Plug it into charge
Plug in data cable connected to computer
Take out battery for a while, then replace, plug data cable into computer (but not phone), hold volume buttons while plugging in phone (internet guy told me to)
Everything above shows absolutely nothing on screen. Charging heats it up a little.
I honesty don't know how to describe my problem so I guess I will just tell you whats happening and what I know about my phone.
My phone:
Unlocked Verizon Galaxy S3 running CM for recovery, and CyanogenMod 10 for the ROM (Updated with Odin from Jelly Bean).
The issue:
1) Whenever I press the power button the phone completely shuts off. It doesn't just go to the lock screen, it turns off.
2) The phone will not always turn back on.
3) 85% of the time when it doesn't turn on, it boots into the first splash screen and turns off.
4) When I try to put the phone into download or recovery mode the first screen will pop up for about two seconds and then the phone will turn off again. The phone will either shut down on the cancel/download screen for download mode or the first splash screen with the blue text at the top for recovery mode.
5) The other 15% of the time it will reach the CyanogenMod screen, freeze, then shut off.
6) When I put it on the charger, the stock charging icon pops up but then the phone stops charging and shuts off. (It will charge correctly some times)
These things don't just happen if I press the power button. I used a custom app to turn the phone off without the power button and the problems still occurred.
Things I've tried:
1) Replacing the battery.
2) Switching chargers.
3) Leaving the phone on the charger for a while.
4) Taking the battery out for extended amounts of time.
5) Just leaving the phone alone for a while.
No, the power button isn't stuck... I don't think it is
I am aware that the motherboard might need replaced. However, most of the cases I read about involved the phone not turning on/charging at all. If I could get the phone into recovery mode I would clear the cache and see if that worked, if not I would just factory reset the phone. If I could get into download mode, I would flash a stock firmware and be done with it.
This is my second android phone and I've never had this problem before. I did my experimenting with my old Motorola Droid so I could make sure I knew what was safe with my S3 but apparently there is something wrong.
I greatly appreciate any and all help and please do help me
[EDIT #1]
I began hitting the power button against a hard surface and 1 out of 7 times it works. Perhaps the button is stuck.
[EDIT #2]
I am now able to press the power button without the phone turning off. I will still make a back up and sync all of my important media and prepare to have to factory reset and flash a new ROM.
So I left work today at 5, paired my phone with the bluetooth in my radio, after I installed Skyfall last night. Pandora was supposedly playing and connected to the radio, but nothing was playing. I toggled the radio a few times and noticed that now only media was playing but no phone. I turned off the bluetooth on the phone thinking that was the problem.
The phone immediately disconnected from my pebble, expected. The bluetooth quick toggle was spinning like it was busy, so I waited. When the light turned green I put the phone in the cupholder. By the time I got to the next light the phone was off, not connected to anything and a bit warm.
The entire 40 minute ride home the phone was hot, and would not turn on or connect to anything. I tried holding the power button down for 10-30 seconds at a time to reset it, but it would not reset. I have tried this multiple times.
I'm home now, connected to the charger but have no charging light, and it still won't turn on. It has cooled off a lot in the past 10-30 minutes
Past couple days I've tried flashing a few things. After the last reset I installed Skyfall, power saver mod, faux kernel, set cpu (and changed some settings) and restored my app backups. Everything was running fine until I tried to connect to the bluetooth on my raido.
I can connect the phone to my computer, and windows recognizes a device connected, but neither ADB or Fastboot see the phone
Am I missing something on the hard power off?

Have you tried holding down power and volume up? When I was using the stock rom rooted with the insecure kernel my phone was running hot and I turned it off and it wouldn't power back on. Nothing worked until I pressed power and volume up - give it a shot.

I swear I was trying this in the car... and several attempts after... But that worked! Maybe it was because I had it on the charger when I did it this time?
Why would they ever make you hold two buttons for a hard reset ><
Phone is on now, Thank you for your assistance!
They gave us back our SD Cards... Now give us back our removable batteries!

Awesome, glad it's up and running.
My LG G Flex 2 H950 was working fine, running google maps and playing music, plugged in to the car charger. Within minutes of leaving the car the phone was dead - I could not power it on. I can usually get it to show the LG logo by trying to start in Recovery Mode (holding the power and volume-down buttons for several seconds) but then the logo just disappears after a few seconds and the phone does not power on. But sometimes when I try this the red LED blinks on the phone screen and the logo may or may not appear. Sometimes (50%) when I plug the phone in to my Windows 10 desktop, the computer plays a tone to indicate a new device has been connected, but no icon appears in the list of hard drives or devices.
I think the battery is charging normally - when I connect the phone to a USB volt meter it usually (but not always) shows a normal amount of amperage flowing, and just now when I tried to start the phone it showed the battery charge icon on the phone screen (it doesn't usually do this) and showed 100% charge.
Is there anything else I can try, even if just to get the phone running long enough to backup my text messages etc?
Is there any way to test what's actually wrong? I'd hate to spend money on a new battery or charging port etc for a slim chance to temporarily fix a phone that seems like it's dying.
Thanks for any advice or suggestions...
Hey, i've got the same problem since today. i was watching youtube videos when the phone suddenly stopped working. did you already find the problem?
Sorry for my bad englisch ( Dutch)
No - not solved, phone still dead. Still would love to hear any advice...
I used to have the exact same problem as you - bootloops at the LG logo, no recovery etc. After some reading it seemed that the battery was the root of the problem, and after replacing the battery my phone was back to life - no issues ever since. I recommend you check if the battery is the issue by connecting it to a normal charger (i.e. not charging from a PC) and powering it on, by holding the power button at the battery charging screen. If it powers on normally then it's most likely a battery issue, which can be easily fixed. Cheers!
Hi,
Yesterday, I updated my Pixel 3 to the latest version of Android 10.
Today, my Pixel 3 was on like 3% battery, so I turned down the brightness. All of a sudden, the phone just turned off - black screen, and started rebooting constantly until the battery was completely dead. At home, I plugged it into the charger, waited a bit (phone kept rebooting) and after a while, I tried to boot / soft reset it multiple times. When I got to recovery mode and pressed one of the volume buttons to choose factory reset - boom, phone reboots. So, I tried Fastboot to at least get it recognized by my PC. It stays in Fastboot for a few seconds, then reboots.
Can anyone help me out? I need this fixed ASAP, I'm a delivery guy and need my phone to do my job
I had that once. Had to let the phone completely die, then keep it on charger for a few hours.
I got that problem yesterday too. Then I tried to stop the loop by holding Power button and up or down buttons. After that I entered Safe mode(not sure which of the two combinations worked), restart after and everything was fine.
