I was taking a video, and finished it, when suddenly the phone froze up and turned off. I've been using MIUI, and while it's mostly pretty stable, reboots and crashes happen, so I just rolled my eyes. But since then it's been completely dead. I couldn't turn it on, even after taking the battery out several times, can't put it into recovery or download modes, and it's been connected to the charger for about ten minutes now and still nothing.
I haven't flashed anything for ages, haven't done anything odd with the phone at all, I have no idea what could have provoked this. Please help, I can't imagine what I'd do if my phone was permanently dead.
Samsung Galaxy SII with MIUI weekly ROM (currently 2.4.27)
Things I have tried:
Long press power button to turn it on (obviously)
Same thing after taking the battery out for ages
Press Vol up + Home + Power to put it into recovery
Press Vol down + Home + Power to put it into download
Plug it into charge
Plug in data cable connected to computer
Take out battery for a while, then replace, plug data cable into computer (but not phone), hold volume buttons while plugging in phone (internet guy told me to)
Everything above shows absolutely nothing on screen. Charging heats it up a little.

So this is a weird problem I just started having today.
After putting my phone away during practice, I came back to find that it had only 1% battery.
It died en route to my room, and when I first plugged it in to my PC, it turned on and worked normally. After a while it turned off.
Now, when I try to turn it back on, the htc Raphael screen comes up, and it makes a short vibration, then goes to black for about 1 second, and then repeats. It has been doing this nonstop.
However, it only does so when it is plugged in to a power source. When it is not plugged in, it is completely unresponsive.
I have the elite RC2 ROM that I flashed back in November.
Any suggestions?
hard reset to start things off.
Hold down the volume down button, center button and then press the reset button with the stylus until you see a screen that says something like "this operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press VolUp to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel." then press volume up. Remember you will lose all data, phone numbers and anything else stored on the phone.
i know this problem
I have had several, i solve it taking press the power button long time during the boot.
Of course, the phone must be plugged in to a power source.
Problem solved.
I left it unplugged with the battery out overnight, and then plugged it in to charge, and it did not attempt to startup.
After letting it charge again it worked as normal.
I suppose the battery was so run down for some reason, that even plugged in, it did not get enough power to complete the boot.
It works now. About to flash Elite RC3 and a new radio.
Hello,
I flashed the latest LRX22C image on my nexus 5 today.Had flashed it clean, wiping data, cache and system etc except the Internal Storage. Then I flashed the SUPERSU 2.37 ZIP .Everything was fine for about 4 hours. Then suddenly when I pressed the power button to turn the screen off,it was not turning off and the "Switch off" mode was popping up instead .Then, when I got a call,it switched off.The phone won't turn on again. It starts, the Google Boot Splash appears and the bootanimation starts for like 2 seconds and it switches off.Same thing for bootloader mode.
Please Help me!
EDIT: Now its turning on by itself and switches off in 2 seconds!
Sounds like a bad power switch to me, but of course that is just my opinion. :good:
sounds like a mech issue.

I have the same problem on mine now... Basically my phone powered down around 45%. Battery. At the time i thought it was dead... But it wasnt. When i would plug into external power, either usb or through wireless charging it would power cycle continuously at the android splash screen.... (1 to 2 second intervals - even if i booted into fastboot) Interestingly it would never go to the battery charging mode. But automatically boot on charge... It did this for about 6 hours then i gave up and left it unplugged for a day. I plugged it back in and it started power cycling again, however this time on its third boot it came back to life . thats when i discovered i still had 40% battery... I dont know what exactly made it boot but it did. Oddly also on boot, it started optimising apps and finishing install again. I checked the md5 before I installed the update so no issue there. Since it powered up i have powered the phone off using the power button long push and let the phone power down. After doing this when i plug the phone in to usb charge it goes to the charge screen. No issue. That said, if i try to power up while tethered and charging it will not allow it. It just stays at the charge screen. As soon as i unplug the usb the power button allows the phone to power up and work... When booted up it charges as normal when plugged in. Im convinced there is an issue with the power management drivers or drivers for the button controls. My phone worked fine until the 5.0.1 update was installed. On my nexus 5. Anyone else or just us two? Ive had a hard time finding people posting on this issue.
hello,
I had left my phone to charge at night, then this morning it was not responding. Power button was not waking up the phone. Then i forced to reset by power and volume buttons. Vibrated 3 times and completely shut off. Now it is not opening.
I already tried, reset button in sim cards slot. It is not working also. Please help me.
Did you try connecting it to PC Suite or FLashtool? Check that once and also try charging another hour and then force reset the phone. Also I think there is a reset button somewhere under the sim card slot. Try that one too.
Hold volume up and press power. Wait for beep three times. Give it a few seconds and then press power alone, should boot.
Thanks guys, i tried both but still i have sudden death. reset button and power+volume buttons not working. Also flashtool could'nt find my device.
Thats not good, any led when plugged in?
I had a similar instance after flashing unofficial cm12. Phone was cooling down from taking a run through an obvious cpu bug that really killed my battery. I shut it off to cool down with 20 precent still left in the battery. And the phone started to act this way when I went to power it on. No led power indicator or anything even with usb connected. My computer did respond to the usb being connected as if a device was there though. I waited about 10 minutes with the phone in front of some cool air and then did the volume up power button reset which worked then. Still quite a scary incident.
I dont think my Nexus 5 died because the last I saw it still had above 20% to 30 %, but it did just turn off on me and now it will not turn back on. I tried holding down the volume up+volume down+power button for more than 10 seconds and nothing. also tried vol+ + Power and vol- + power. Here's where it start to get werid. I tried to plug it into my PC, but it doesn't recognize it. It's just trying to install the "QHSUSB_BULK" driver (and fail). Also when I place my phone on the charger, nothing happens. I know you cannot take the battery out which really annoys me. After few hours, I tried just turn on with power button and voila, it worked. but i don't know why. it happens randomly. i am root user and tried different roms but still happening. any ideas?
Your battery seems to be near limit of it's age. Try calibrating battery..
Hi!
A couple of days ago I got an HTC 10. First I unlocked the bootloader using the official HTC method found on their site. Then I rooted it and for a while it was fine untill I tried to put it in to download mode by using the holding down the volume down and power buttons for a few seconds. At first it would just restart in normal mode so I tried a few times and then decided keep pressing the power and volume down buttons until it goes into download mode. When I did that the phone buzzed three times and then just shut itself off. I haven{t been able to turn it back on since then. I tried all of the methods I was able to find on the internet with no luck. Here is the curious thing though, for the first hour or so after that happened the phone would very briefly buzz after I have been pressing power and volume down buttons for about 10 seconds but still wouldn’t turn on. Then I connected it to my computer and my PC would recognize that something is plugged in by giving me an audio notification but still wouldn’t be able to communicate with the phone. After that I plugged it on and waited for a few minutes, when I checked on it it was pretty hot to the touch, so I unplugged and tried to start it up again and this time it wouldn’t even buzz. Right now I am trying to charge it and it is not getting warm nor has any indication that it is charging.
Did I just **** up a perfectly good phone or there is still something that can be done?
Thanks!
Hi,
have you tried a soft reset? (Power button + Volume down button for 12 to 15 secs)
