My friend had the Atrix 4G, it sucked. Crashed at least once everyday.

Anyone else have opinions?

Well if I remember correctly, it has a 1gb of ram and CM9 support, but I'm not 100% sure. That sounds good to me

My step-son has been using the Atrix since its release and he absolutely loves it. There has never been an issue with it. I prefer the O3D personally.

Thrill all the way. Attic way to slow
Sent from my LG-P920 using xda premium
I actually own both..I loved my atrix 4g...I wanted another when I added this line but they weren't available anymore. That being said I like my thrill better mainly due yo larger screen and old eyes..both are fast thrill has 3d..atrix has an extra partition with partial desktop Linux installed that allows you to plug in HDMI to HDTV and have Linux on TV and phone is mouse pad and touch keyboard.. very cool..so I guess the answer depends on what you like to do with your phone.
Also atrix has unofficial cm9 I used to build mine from source and yes it also has 1 gb of ram..it isn't slow if you run custom roms
Sent from my LG-P920 using xda premium
Lol I mean cm9 and the Linux TV was what grabbed my attention but not only that the fact it will also get ICS screams to me that it will race right past the thrill once both are on ICS ill be trading my friend so ill still have access to the phone as I should really really like to see the final product after ICS is out and miui is available

Not to mention miui is available on atrix. My wife runs notachrix it is gingerbread but very stable so I don't have to worry about her having probs. Ics roms still have 2d driver issues and she plays those damn farm games..lol...you will Like it just pm me before you unlock the boot loader if it is not already done..it is a pain in the butt.
Sent from my LG-P920 using xda premium
Not to get off track here but what is so good about miui? I have never seen anything there that made me think anything but Iphone.
Well, I own both, so:
Atrix on stock gingerbread sucks. Also, it feels flimsier than the P920. My atrix is currently in the drawer, waiting for parts...Case scratches easily, too. On the nice part: ICS 4.0.4 rocks, but you get no fingerprint support...Phone fast as hell, especially when overclocked @1450MHz....
As for the P920:
Bulky, but sturdier than the atrix, screen looks better, despite lower resolution...Camera is better too (but IMO the flash on the atrix is better)...P920 also feels faster, be it stock or overclocked...Wireless communications also seem better.Negative side: Battery lasts shorter on my P920 than the atrix
Shortening it: if you want a developer's phone, get the atrix, if you want a nice-looking, feature-rich phone, then LG it is.

It might be an easy port since its the same exact hardware minus the radio/antenna, but as far as simply flashing a G2x rom on the O2x then its a problem. It should not work unless its been modified.

Here's a thread warning about flashing an O2X rom onto a G2X. I'm assuming the warning goes both ways.

I'm sorry to hear. I can say that the O2x rom actually looks pretty interesting though. I'd love to try it out.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
o2x roms will work on g2x phones BUT it also flashes a baseband from the o2x that will jack your phone up wont allow you to make calls and there is no way to repair this yet on the g2x
I would really love to try stock optimus2x rom it looks slick kinda surprised no one has ported one over yet
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
same thing is going on with the vibrant and sgs4g their the same phones but if you flash roms from vibrant to sgs4g or sgs4g to vibrant it will brick your phone but the devs found a way so they can flash roms from those phones it will be nice to do something like that between o2x and g2x.
o2x roms and themes are very cool

It's just touchwiz or something really similar. You could replicate it with CM7's Captivated theme and a custom launcher.
I have a mytouch 4g slide and im gonna trade. It for a g2x and gettin a hundred dollars
Should i

If you don't need a physical keyboard hell yes.
Haven't really looked at the dev sections for the slide. Compare the 2 and go from there. Plus u get a 100 and a bigger screen. Go far it.
Btw be sure to ask both sides. You will get biased opinions from both. This will help u decide the pros and cons and each. Good luck deciding

Physical keyboards are over rated, a good phone is not.

Locally, I've been seeing an awful lot of people abandoning their mytouch 4g's on craigslist, not the most encouraging thing when you're shopping for phones... Not so many people selling Sensations or G2x's though.
don't be worried about the transition from physical keyboard to touch screen. i was really worried since i've only ever had keyboard phones but i definitely don't miss them. i probably type a lot faster on my keyboard phones but i'm still getting used to it
You get a better processor in the Tegra as opposed to the Snapdragon.
A bigger and better ISP display.
You get a thinner phone.
Better dev support.
Capacitive buttons which I prefer.
And 100$!?
Answer is; hell yeah man. Go for it!
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
yea, phones with moving parts, and ones that have alot of non-capacitive buttons tend to be easier to break. :/
Take the deal!!! You are definitely on the better end of this deal.

Screen bleed and random shutoffs while charging are my 2 biggest complaints. Everything else is great with this phone. That said. Im not married to it. Ill drop her for a prettier model. But its better than the mytouch for sure. I would not trade it for a mytouch. Maybe an sgs2 but not a mytouch.

Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using XDA App
Seems like there's good and bad G2x's floating around. Same with the MT4G.
MT4G dealt with ****ty screens and bad eMMC chips that would insta-brick shortly after rooting.
And the G2x's seem to have random freeze and reboots.
But I guess I'm the lucky one. Had a MT4G that was perfect, then traded it for this G2x that has yet to reboot or freeze. And my screen bleed is very small at the top right corner. I can't notice it unless the screen is pitch black with at least 50% brightness, which I never even put it that high at all anyways.

Random shutoffs while charging are kernel related. My Asus Transformer which has a tegra 2 chip also did this when I got it. Flashed a new rom and kernel and goodbye random shutoffs and black screens of death.
Same with the G2x or any other tegra device. I've had luck with MIUI and Fauxs kernel. A few CM7 nightlies experience charging lockups but they get fixed pretty quickly.
I've only had issues noted above when using a stock based rom.

Transformer - Latest Revolver w OC/UV Kernel

im trading my evo 4g into sprint for a nexus s and i want to run ICS on it but with the current state of ICS on the evo im a little weary. how is ICS running on the ns? can i run graphic intensive apps like FPse and other "higher" end games? are there any major issues i should know about? thanks in advance!
tried fifa 12 but the grass was all purple and **** but still playable on stock without oc. duno whether there is a fix for this.
fpse no problems
ICS on the EVO sucks big time. You'll be amazed at it on the Nexus S, especially since its made by Google.

It should work with either 2.3.3 or CM7 as well.
Make a backup in CWM just in case, then flash the zip.

as much as I don't want to hijack this thread (even though this thread is almost pointless considering there isn't very many ports off cameras for our phone.) I'm not sure I agree with that one SadPanda... Build quality I prefer HTC they have a good group of devs, including a fully functioning ICS build. I've played with an amaze 4g rooted running a CM7 and compared it to mine (it wasn't overclocked just 1.5) mine was overclocked to 1.4, I think, it might have been up to 1.56... either way just regular use for me and my friend (no games) no big difference at all, if anything the amaze was faster with browser and loading things that required data since it is HSPA+.... next to each other he reaches 18mb down I got 12mb barely. Overall the Amaze is better IMO... I've been trying to sell my G2X for a descent price so I could the Amaze but no one will go for it lol.

Will this work on an ICS build
They are both great devices, the Amaze may be a better build but thats really only because its newer.
I got bored with it due to the lack of dev and true AOSP. You can only dress up sense 3.6 so much before it puts you to sleep.

As far as ICS goes... I don't think there is anything for us, is there?
Found this on HTC's side, it's being reported on Droid-life, as well:
http://www.htc.com/www/help/android4faq/?cid=android4blog
They are claiming July-August for ICS. I'll believe it when I see it.
They did say earlier this year it would be near the end of q3 when they pushed the ota out. I would say if they are honestly trying to get the update out then it will be at the end of august or later. They almost always delay by 2 months usually.

I know there is no actual for this, but, is there an about time frame for leaks before they release official? I guess I mean, is it feasible to say that there may be a leak by the end of June? I know, purely speculation. But fun to guess.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
There is no way to know that because if we get a leak then we get a leak. The only way we can get a leak is if someone puts it out there for us.

Man, I disagree wholeheartedly. Stock ICS blows any of our roms out of the water...in power management and usability. Add in the features in, say, AOKP and wrap it up in Apex Launcher and it's pretty much the best mobile experience I can imagine.
If only that Nexus I had for a month got better reception...loved the software.
