They are claiming July-August for ICS. I'll believe it when I see it.
They did say earlier this year it would be near the end of q3 when they pushed the ota out. I would say if they are honestly trying to get the update out then it will be at the end of august or later. They almost always delay by 2 months usually.

I know there is no actual for this, but, is there an about time frame for leaks before they release official? I guess I mean, is it feasible to say that there may be a leak by the end of June? I know, purely speculation. But fun to guess.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
There is no way to know that because if we get a leak then we get a leak. The only way we can get a leak is if someone puts it out there for us.

Man, I disagree wholeheartedly. Stock ICS blows any of our roms out of the water...in power management and usability. Add in the features in, say, AOKP and wrap it up in Apex Launcher and it's pretty much the best mobile experience I can imagine.
If only that Nexus I had for a month got better reception...loved the software.

Why isn't it on the new GB ROMs? From what I (thought I) understand, it only worked on Gingerbread and that's why we couldn't have it on Froyo.. Is there a difference between AOSP GB and the GB we have now (non-CM7)?

... Honestly it's a leak... I honestly wouldn't expect everything on a leak software. They may add it back in the future when it's near completion or at the end of completion. Maybe there was a bug happening and we got the leak it was removed to help troubleshoot if it was that or something else.

I agree with this here. HTC has to strip probably as much as they can or else sense plus extra GB features would slow the phone down considerably. Just my two cents.

Fwiw I don't believe any Htc leak has the animation(nexus excluded). I doubt we'll see it straight from Htc.

Samsung, moto and htc official GB builds don't have it. The thing is sammy and moto have the code in services.jar but its disabled in framework so all they have to do is make a simple edit. On HTC builds (like on Desire HD) they have to add the code in services.jar manually. So HTC is leaving it out for some reason and its not because it would "slow down" the phone. It is disappointing though. These are such light and cool-looking additions that set GB apart, wish we would see them in Sense as well. Damn HTC...

I never said because it would slow the phone. I am saying it was disabled possibly to reduce a bug until they can correct and test before putting out back on. Until more leaks come out or until we get their final release we will not know if we will have it or not.

Was going to post this. It was an awesome surprise when I first noticed it!
it was purposely removed by HTC, but who knows why. all new HTC phones like the Desire S that come with Gingerbread also do not have the cool CRT animation.
even the samsung Galaxy s2 which comes with gingerbread does not have the animation. samsung removed it. this is totally stupid as the animation fits superbly with the platform and should be common to all devices. android needs to come together and be consistent, not fragment further. and such a cool little addition has no downsides, so why remove it...
I agree I don't see why these damn manufacturers cannot give us these little things that we really enjoy. That animation is iconic and should always be on every Android device that has Gingerbread, and beyond.
Why is everyone using touchwiz and adding launchers??? The stock roms are huge. I understand ics is on the way but why has no one gotten at least a nice stock 2.3 rom no I'm not a noob no I'm not flaming but it makes no sense to me when we could drop a huge chunk of bloat by compiling cm7. I really wish AT&T would stop screwing around it's customers. Don't get me wrong I love AT&T but they release SGS2, then the Skyrocket, and now next the Skyrocket HD. That right there maybe messes with alot of devs. They get started on one, then an upped version comes out.
I have to say though, the Skyrocket i727 is thankfully getting some love. Look up this guy "seanzscreams". He is truly awesome. He has pumped out about 3 roms, keeps them updated and replies to people having trouble with them. I'm running one right now and have not had any problem. Very stable and great speeds+battery life.
Noticed that the T-Mobile SGS II is getting it's ICS update today. Considering both the phones are pretty much the same inside, can the T-Mobile ICS rom be able to be ported to our device the Skyrocket?
I'm sure the answer is yes.

Were either of you expecting something else? If you thought it was going to be stock ICS then you're either on the wrong board or purchased the wrong phone.
It gets really old reading all of this whining about Touchwiz. This is the SKYROCKET forums. It comes with Touchwiz, always has and always will. Frankly if you two hate it so much why in the world did either of you purchase this phone?

Bionic already has 4 ICS leaks...and blame HTC. Anyway, the Incredible S (GSM Dinc 2) got ICS today. Here's the thing - the Thunderbolt was replaced by the Rezound a long time ago, and it's honestly not that great of a phone anyway. It was the first LTE phone, but the specs were far behind other phones that came out before it. It will be nice when it finally does get ICS (and it will, but remember the 2.3.4 update took a very long time as well), but most people (like me) who bought this phone will have already moved on, or be well on their way to a better phone by the time it finally is released. As far as being forgotten by developers - not forgotten, but they have moved on to better phones. The Thunderbolt is old hat - 1Ghz Snapdragon w/ 768MB RAM, the developers have moved on to better things, for the most part.

HTC didn't cancel the Desire update, Canadian carrier Tellus canceled it due to bad performance. Even with Tellus jumping the gun and canceling the update, HTC has said it would move forward with developing updates for all Desire models.
Quite frankly this is a big part of the problem, instead of the carrier pushing HTC to do better and not accepting failure, they decided to screw their customers.

Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
I personally don't think jellybean is going to run worth a crap in this phone. The vsyncing that was thrown in jellybean is resource intensive and I don't think the hardware of the thunderbolt can handle that. Ics will run good I'm sure but jellybean throws a wrench into things because of vsync timers.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Wouldn't devs just be able to disable the VSync feature? I mean, CM has a lot of under-the-hood tweaks. I'm sure with full source they'll be able to port forward the ICS code, worst case. I can't imagine 4.0 to 4.1 as being anything but incremental.
That vsync feature is one of the things that makes jellybean great because the phones that can handle it and can utilize that feature will see great improvements to the smoothness of the ui.

Unless HTC and VZW release ICS for the T'bolt there can't be a leak with a working ril, can there? Any ril that works for the T'bolt would exist ONLY in a T'bolt ICS release unless a dev can build an ril from scratch?

Agreed but there won't be a leak if HTC and VZW don't create a ROM. The rumored soak test has produced no leak so far, I heard (who knows if it's true or not?) that the NDA had sufficient teeth in it that none of the testers would leak it.... so *IF* the soak test really happened or is happening then we can believe in one hell of an NDA because there is no leak AFAIK.
FWIW, I really don't care much, HTC's website says IF the T'bolt gets ICS it'll have Sense 3.6 and will NOT get sense 4.x because of performance issues and that makes me think two things:
1. The T'bolt really doesn't have the horsepower to run ICS with Sense 4.x and so
2. We're better off with a good ROM and Gingerbread than we will be with ICS.
However, I can upgrade in... well, never. So.... I'll keep running my current ROM(s) and see what happens and what shows up on Ebay!
If Desire HD can't handle ICS, what's with the Desire C??
Well,.....I call BS on the Desire HD or the Thunderbolt not being able to handle ICS or Sense 4.0.
It's clearly a marketing strategy to sell new devices and nothing more.
If it were true that the Desire HD could not run ICS and Sense 4.0 acceptably, then why in God's name would HTC be releasing the Desire C?
Has anyone checked out the specs on that ICS Sense 4.0 device?
CHECK IT OUT
So yeah, I call BS!!!!
That desire c is really low end hardware but yet can run the newest software. Definitely a marketing strategy on htc's part by not giving us the best software. Our phones are more than capable of running it. Another example is the one v. Same specs as ours
