Hello i just purchased the Samsung Galaxy SII LTE from Rogers, and the code is SGH - I727R, assuming R is for rogers.
Is this the exact same phone as the Skyrocket, and the R is just for rogers, meaning all the rooting information and roms for the skyrocket, will work for my phone as well?

yup, exactly down to the R
the only difference is the USA ATT version you get more junk apps added
while the Rogers version you get a fewer junk app included
but everything else OS, hardware, boot, is the same
i-727r is the Rogers edition.

So from the DEV thread there is a warning that the ROM on this forum is only for AT&T I727 only will also work with the Robbers version?
yes you might need to flash a rogers kernel to be safe either the stock or Da G's tweaked kernel.

yes, it works
and backwards as well, i727 can flash i727R Kernels / ROMs as well
I have a i727r on rogers and I can comfirm you can use any AT&T i727 rom/kernel on the phone though I think the AT&T developers should start using the rogers rom since it has more open features + CIQ is not on it (dont know fully)
so can you flash the att galaxy s II roms on the skyrocket with no problem at all? everything works like it would on the regular gs2 if you were to flash it with a custom rom? thanks

Whoa ok so you can flash the t mobile gs2 roms on the ATT skyrocket right? But not the ATT gs2 on the skyrocket? So why is that that you can flash custom tmobile gs2 roms on the ATT skyrocket?

Skyrocket and tmo gs2 yes. The att gs2 has a different (better) cpu/gpu

Today, as I'm sure you are all well aware of, official ics 4.0.4 made it way to the Rodgers version of the Skyrocket via Samsung Kies. My question is, couldn't devs take the update and remove the CIQ thus allowing its use for ATT / Unlocked users?

What do u mean att update is out. I am of the understanding a new leak is to be unveiled by design gears but that isn't the official "Final" build from Samsung

Give it time, things take time. The as the new update showed it is a newer baseband for rogers as well. The att and rogers are close to the same (radio is not) it just released today give the devs some time to cook things up

Edit: my bad its the 777
looking for an update to gingerbread 2.3.6 , i went back to stock and it gave me version 2.3.5 , i used the stock tar from sammobile, and now it wont update to 2.3.6 for som reason and i dont see it on sammobile?

Second. Only US carriers have CIQ.
Well, that's true and it isn't at the same time, Rogers has it installed (can't speak for all phones), its just not activated.

Run LogCat you can see CIQ instances all over rogers phones

It's possible, but it's agreed you're better off selling the phone and buying one that's more compatible since I believe it was confirmed that you won't get very good data speeds - at least that was the word in the last thread I read.

At the back it was written Galaxy S2 LTE and when i started it there also ! But in the settings its written the Device model as i727 ??? How can I check which one it is ?

You have an i727. The s2 lte is the i727. Mine has the samething that you do, s2 lte on the back.

It doesn't matter what text is printed on the phone. As long as the model # is i727 and it (not the logos/text, but the phone itself) looks like a skyrocket it's a skyrocket :good:

mine does not say att either .... its says samsung sII on the back
on system sgh i727 but haaas lte stuff in it..

Also just FYI, some replacement screens (when changing LCD/digitizer) only have the Samsung logo at the bottom. They don't have an at&t logo.
I wouldn't miss the at&t logo if it were gone ...
