Hi friends, it's me again.
I really wanna use ICS in my Galaxy SL, and I wanna do the impossible for make it works at 100%, obviously it doesn't gonna work perfect, but if the bugs can be solved with third party apps and works partially good, I'm happy haha.
Well, there's 3 bugs in CM9.
1- Video recording
2- Hardware acceleration in videos
3- Wi-Fi Tethering.
The last 2 bugs can be solved with a third party video player app, and with an app like ''Easy Tether''.
The problem, the video recording.
I know that can works with ''Videocam Illusion'', but I wanna know if it can works with another camera app, like ''Zoom FX'', ''Cymera'', ''ProCapture'', or another camera app. If not, what are the correct settings in Videocam Illusion to get the best video quality? I know that if I configure it at the best, it doesn't gonna work, but I think that the default settings of the app sucks.

No matter what the camera is going to stay buggy unless we get kernel 3.x . Videos are working fine for now and you just need to cut down background apps for better performance. Hillbeast is now focusing on booting the kernel after which we have a bunch of hungry developers who are going to help him build the kernel from there.

Today i saw that LG optimus one has a fully functional cm9.
I dont understand how can such an ancient phone can have so good compatibilty.

If they made the kernel then i don't see why it won't work.

Video recording is a known issue with ICS for our phones. As far as I know there's no fix for it yet, part of the reason why I went back to GB.

I suggest you get a mod to close this thread, haha. Alot of people will probably complain about this. But yeah, like the guy before me said, it's an issue with ALL ICS-based ROMs for the G2x and O2x. But knowing how skilled our devs are, it'll probably be working soon. ;D All we can do is wait.
I posted this in the normal Q & A, didn't get many answers so I wanted to get more specific.
So here's my issue: I have an HTC Sensation 4g (brilliant phone) which is rooted, and custom rom'd with CyanogenMod 9, the Nightly build. I have the latest version installed, and I love everything about it. I have one small issue though. I really miss the old camera from the Sense Rom. Is there any way to get the old camera back? Or is there a camera I can download that will basically replace it?
I loved taking 1080p photos with my phone, but now I feel like the quality and size of the pictures I take have dropped when I switched to ICS CM9. I read up on some mods to get the old camera back but they claim you need Sense installed on your phone. (Which I believe is a memory waster) I got rid of it to move on, but I wish I brought the camera with me.
Any suggestions?
The way sense is built, it's just all put together. You can't take one component and use it alone. You need sense to use the stock camera, no other way. If it was that easy, believe me, you would have heard about it already.

Would you know of an app that had the "Full screen" style camera that records video + takes pictures? That's all I'm really looking for.

Unfortunately, there aren't any "camcorder" apps in the market. Only camera apps. That takes still pictures with effects and stuff. All you can use is the camcorder that comes with the ROM you're using.

blackwing182 has an aosp based miui rom in the dev section that you may be able to extract a working camera from. I'm not saying it will work, but it may be worth a shot...
uCam is a great camera app and has all the functionality you need. It's free too

Also give lgcamera a try from the market. Camcorder app is pretty good in it. You can get real aac 128 44khz audio out of it. In my opinion I use that for my camcorder app even on Sense rooms just because the audio doesn't get clipped like the Sense camcorder does.

Since I cant ask in the thread directly... I thought Id make a thread.
It says media acceleration was added in the latest release, but I thought the official drivers were needed for this... and since LG hasnt released the drivers? How is this possible?
I only ask because im on hellfire 2.2 gingerbread and would like to make the jump over to the ICS since many of the issues are being sorted out.
Anyways if anybody can let me know, that would be great. Thanks

If media acceleration has been successfully implemented... what about the domination release by Owain. Would that have it as well? That looks like a great release as well.

Media acceleration is like the video player and stuff, it works. This doesn't mean the camcorder works, it doesn't. The camera does work though. And yes, its in any ics rom you find here.

The media acceleration is good for video playback, it's just that you can't record with the camera. (You still can take HD pictures.) You should be fine as long as you use your phone for RECORDING videos.

I finally decided to try Eagles Blood on my phone. I really wanted to try ICS out. To be honest I love it, but a couple of issues are pushing me to return to my previous CM7 install. One was the playing of videos (MX player does not work) I got that fixed. Found a player that works.
However, another big issue is the video recording. It is still broken. Does anyone know a good fix?
Is there a hack or workaround available?

Is the root cause known?
The medium answer is hardware acceleration doesn't work on any ics or jb roms except Adampk and Mazout's cm10, on which the radio doesn't work. Work in progress. The long answer is way over my head.

This may help you, the cause of that is because is still missing the proper divers in order to the hardware acceleration to work properly
Tegra havent release for this phone yet, some day some how we may get it, devs had tryed everything to get this far :good:
Thats a shame that this fast phone wouldt get any more updates fron their maker.

Thanks everyone for the great effort. My wife managed to solve this problem. She dropped my phone into the toilet. I moved on and I bought a Samsung Note 1. I hope for everybody else's sake that this issue gets solved it was a great phone, I loved it very much.

As i know, i don't think you can, but try to use the Camera FV-5,looks very good to me

im not quite sure what you mean, but the hwcamera from either honor8 or p9 are not working on a CM ROM. it needs libs to actually be shown as an installed app.
i tried every proper camera app: cameringo+, retrica, fv5, camera-fx, open camera
and even silly ones: 360, candy camera
all of the above either dont run at all, produce sub-par results since they dont address the camera api/kernel properly, and none can capture video properly at min 30fps.
as long as this very decent camera in this phones pricerange isnt properly used in custom ROMS, im not even bothering with any builds. its just a waste of time, when the core selling point for this phone isnt working properly.
id love to keep using resurrectionremix, since i love that ROM, but as mentioned above - waste

This is something you deal with when you CM/aosp based roms. People think they can have their cake and eat it to. This is not the case. CM has had bad camera code for years and they really can't do anything about it without recording their libs and system from the ground up.
