Tegra 3 games are so enticing... - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I know we have the more battery efficient (and in a lot of areas more powerful) chipset, but everytime I look at those Tegra only games I get jealous. I mean is there a possibility our chipset will be able to produce the same quality of graphics when these games are released for the Tegra devices? I would hate to have to trade up over something so trivial, but I really like to game.
I'm thinking that the battery life can be greatly improved on the Tegra devices with custom ROMs and Kernels. I mean the new Nexus tab has a Tegra, so it must be a reliable piece.
Thoughts?

This.

Out phone was the first phone with the S4, you need to give developers the time.
A TON of phones, including the Stateside Galaxy S III will be having the same chipset/gpu as ours, and developers will not want to miss out on such a huge population.

I have some tegra games on my phone. I use chainfire3d to trick the play store and get to download and play the games

How well do they run?

I can't wait to get my Nexus 7. Tegra 3 games on a 7" screen are going to be seriously amazing. I really hope Gameloft releases Nova 3 for it, because it is seriously the best FPS ever made for mobile devices. It already kicks ass on my One X, it will be bad ass on the Nexus 7.

Just order the Nexus 7 and use it as a gaming device. Problem solved

Lag in games, software issue or hardware issue ?

I keep reading about the one xl lagging seriously in games, but that was on launch, was this fixed or was it really a hardware thing? I post on Internet say the gpu is not very power and what is probably causing the lag
Also is the battery life really better than the international one x? as you can assume in torn between getting the lte version or the international version
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I haven't run into any lag problems in any games I've played so far (ranging from GTA III to Angry Birds Space). The GPU in the XL is actually quite powerful, the Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 is quite peppy.
On my AT&T version, I find some lag on Words with Friends and also the Farsight Pinball app. I think it is due to their app coding needing to be updated to work better with ICS though and not due to poor phone hardware. Battery life is slightly better than my SGS2 in my opinion.
I get lag frequently while playing Baseball Superstars 2012. I didn't have this problem at all on my rooted Rezound on ICS.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I found that with a modified host file [AdBlocker] games like Baseball Superstars are laggy before I went to 1.85. However, It is possible its not 100% compatible with our phones yet. Some tethering apps aren't :/ Or weren't when I checked.
I'll disable Adfree later tonight and give it a go. Thanks!

I don't think it's ics's fault or the lack of optimization for it, my Galaxy Nexus has no issues with games, I think perhaps games for the s4 gpu haven't been optimized or indeed the gpu is not powerful enough to run games at 720p

Dunno if this applies to us, but I saw this on the main site:

No issue with mine, and yes, the battery life is longer on the XL

HTC One X+

How do you guys feel about the One X+ that's looking like a T-Mobile release? Are you questioning your decision on buying a Galaxy S3? Or you are 100% fine with it?

I think it's an AT&T release but no removable battery and sd card...no thx

No, its a TMO release...Honestly I'm very happy with my s3...Don't really question or regret it even if the 2 phones were out I'd still go with the S3 in the end I'd take expandable memory (sd card) over processing power any day...but that's just me I don't really use my phone for games more so music and media.
I'm happy with the Galaxy S3, even though the HTC One X+ will probably be packing a quad core. I don't think that there will be much of a difference in everyday use.
I for one can't wait for it to be released, Super LCD 2 running jelly bean plus quad core this ish is gonna be a true monster no question about it

Quadcore? No. The same version that at&t has we will get. I previewed the one x and the note. Took the note obviously. Stateside will not see a quad til s4 pro. The stateside s3 is revolutionary, 2gb of ram, expandable storage, removable battery......c'mon. There is no comparison.

Why Idc about the one x+?
Coming from the one S I find the gs3 screen better. It Sucks in daylight but it doesn't bother me. Another thing is battery. They one+ is reportedly rocking the same size battery as the one x. Higher clocked processor with more cores = terrible battery life. Another reason is HTC in general. Coming from the one S I still don't think they even have full s off because Htc hasn't released the source code (last time I check people still couldn't make custom kernels) whereas Samsung released the gs3 instantly. Last reason is the sense ui. It's wack compared to touchwiz Imo.
I make enough money to get a new phone monthly if I wanted to. I won't be buying another Htc branded phone for a while. Not until they get better at supporting the dev community. I'm even still in my 14 day return period and I won't be returning it. Now release a gs3+ with an s4+ pro (quad) and you win me over lol.

Quick google of it says it scores a 58.5 in nena mark. Now scores are only a measuring stick, but my stock GS3 gets 59.9, so its not like its betting blown away. Im more than content with my GS3.

Not entirely true. Tegra 3 processors have a 5th core clocked @512mhz that runs all the background stuff if the cores aren't needed...thus giving it a better battery life. And, the GPU made by NVidia is awesome. Our Adreno 225 is just no match...sorry to say guys....but if that one x+ does come out with Tegra 3 and JB right or off the box...looks like I'll be making the jump. I'll still keep my s3 tho...like I do with all my phones.

Hmmm,...Im not seeing much of a difference. In fact, the S2 Snapdragon wins at least as many as the Tegra 3. Granted, if its at 1.7 GHz, it will make a little difference.

Ehh, I prefer Samsung over HTC...so...not really. There's really no need for quad core phones. Some people don't even have Quad Core PCs. :/
I was an HTC loyalist before the Galaxy S3 came out and the One S wasn't gonna cut it for me so that's why I pulled the trigger on the Galaxy S3 but little did I know how much I would love this phone! Now I'm not gonna lie, when I found out about the One X+ I was mad, but if you think about it, the X+ will probably not have a removable battery nor a SD Card slot which are deal breakers for me. Sure Tegra 3+ will be amazing because I'm a gamer on the phones, but 2GB of RAM, Removable Battery and SD card slot is too hard to give up! I love my GS3

I'm super happy with my SGS3. If you need high benchmark scores to make you feel like cool kat, then you should probably go with the HTC, however, WE all know that benchmark scores don't mean squat when compared to real world usage. That being said, those of us whom have already grown up are quite contempt with our Samsung phones. Believe me, I used to be a die hard HTC fan, always getting the latest and greatest of all their devices. Although one can only take so much before they just give up all hope and walk away feeling betrayed. After all of the random reboots, frozen screen, crashes, loading screens, glitches and disappointments, I decided that enough is enough HTC has let me down for the last time. I am now a born again Samsung lover, I feel sorry for ever straying in the first place, however, I am more than thankful that the SGS3 has brought me back to where I belong.... In the land where all is right

I think you should go with nexus 10

exactly its a dual core go in reality isn't the galaxy faster with its quad Core? I don't care about resoultion I Care about Power and speed which ;g why I bought the galaxy note 2
Well,
more cores doesn't directly means that it has to be faster 100%. Apps need to be coded properly so they are scaling good with more cores, and I think all you will get is just more points in some Benchmarks, thats all.

Actually its dual core is better than a quad-core cause it has a different architecture, for overall smoothness I will suggest you the nexus 10 but for gaming I wouldnt go for this cause the resolution will kill all the performance in games(cause the gpu is not good enough) and expect poor support for tablet on android.
If you really care about gaming I suggest you an iPad 4 as it has great and more optimised games plus it also has the best gpu on any portable devices such tablets and smartphones.

FWIW, the versatility of the TF700 w/ the keyboard dock is very unique. It has replaced my laptop for sure. But, out-of-the-box performance was lacking. However, there are some excellent devs on here for it, which have negated any lag/performance issues.
That said, I was going to wait for the Nexus 10. The TF700 was a gift. I wouldn't trade

My Galaxy Note 2 was a piece of junk ( had to take the first one back WiFi issues, the second one couldn't even watch a YouTube video without the hour glass popping up every minute, battery life poor) compared to my iPhone 4 until I took a chance and rooted my phone.
Galaxy Note 2 Verizon
Beans ROM v0.10 newest
Perseus Kernel
SD swap
The phone is very fast now I didn't over clock it because it moves so fast when OCing I think its going to blowup.
The battery life is beyond perfect with the Perseus Kernel.

S3. iPhone 5 is good but is extremely limited. S3 just blows everything out of the water.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk HD
The S3 beats the iPhone any day of the week. Take your pick of category. Memory expandability, screen size and quality, battery life and changeability, features of the phone itself, the S3 is hands down the better device. The iPhone 5 is a complete failure, with no innovation of any kind. If Apple does not really go all-in with the iPhone 6, making some seriously impressive improvements, they will loose the market.
Suppose I have to mention that I prefer Android over iOS, as I find Android and both its general UI setup and its freedom of customisability and apps beats iOS any day of the week.
Android is operating system that is not significantly less useful than iOS and it is free and open source software. Why would I not choose android?
That said, the Galaxy S3 is still too expensive for my liking, so I'd go with the next nexus phone perhaps.

Note Pro BAD graphics?

Hi,
As the title is saying, the graphics performance on this 800€ tab is TOO BAD.
I have the exynos version, so I don't know How the snapdragon version is.
Any suggestions? Any experiences? Asphalt 8 is unplayable!:banghead: It runs much better on an single cone device! Do you think Samsung will ever do something?
Lots of regards, prohackerbro

Bad on asphalt 8 yes, the high settings seem to practically bring the exynos processor to its knees while on asphalt 7 game play is buttery smooth. Whether gameloft will do any further optimization for this tablet remains to be seen. I'm not a gamer so I could care less but I feel for those who expect high performance from a tablet this expensive. It sure would be nice to play games on a large screen device like this using a game controller.

I would suspect it's the game not being optimized to run on the hardware. I can think of a handful of other games with great graphics that have no trouble running on this tablet. I would think if it was the hardware, those high detail games would have issues too.
That and gameloft has kinda been slow to update its games for newer hardware. I can think of a couple of their games that had issues with new devices, took them months to release a update, after that the games ran well.
Yup. Certainly the resolution will be an issue too but again, the game developer has to make adjustments to account for it.

This is an example of a game badly optimized for the exynos. The exynos is almost identical to the snapdragon in terms of power and performance however snapdragon gets more dev love. Any game that is properly optomized though will look gorgeous on this tablet and play very well. I havent had any game iv chosen to install play any less than fantastically. If you want c ok ntact the devs of asphalt and ask for it to be fixed. It isnt samsungs fault. Snapdragons have lte built in so it was more effective to go with the exynos for the wifi model.

XCOM Enemy Unknown is another example of bad optimization on Exynos devices. Low fps, stutter and lots of crashing.
Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
I'll be getting my P905 (the snapdragon version) tomorrow, I'll be sure to give you feedback on this matter when I get the time.
I find this rather funny, because the Note 3 Exynos has exactly the same problem.. As does the S4 Exynos..... And from both the Snapdragon device has no issues at all.
Lesson to be learned here: Don't buy a device with an Exynos if there's a Snapdragon edition as well.
I've never had any problems with any Exynos-based chip. That said, the Snapdragon version is always better IMHO.
