[Q] *** iKream ICS port *** - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Just wondering if its possible for anyone to port this rom over to HOX ? The second droid link is an updated version & has a nice urban theme which is pretty sweet. Would appreciate it, if anyone is capable of doing so. Thanks in advance...

So let me get this straight. You are the only person in the world that prefers and does not try to viciously remove MotoBlur from their device? Shudders

So do you want the bugatti or the ford focus with exterior customization to look like one?
Unless... This must be a troll thread ;]

Didn't know it was so wrong on asking if its possible to port a Rom. Roms are ported all the time. I guess haterade was on tap today.

It's not wrong. But here's the problem. That phone and ours have NOTHING in common. Not to mention without kernel source there's not much we can do to port other platform's roms. Also Moto Blur *yech*

Lol no hateraide, xD Haven't heard that one in a long time. Just... Going from what we have to what you want, Seems like such a downgrade [such as Windows 7 -> Windows 2000] between the two It wouldnt really be worth the time. If you are just looking for a theme as such, then you might want to try a launcher such as Nova and checkout the themes available for it. I'm sure you'll find one you like :]. As for me, I prefer sense. Nova has gotten laggy before. And call me judgemental or a prick [or whatever else], but On a phone with "1 Gig" ram and a 1.5 [1.8 in my case] Ghz Processor, I want and expect zero lag. Ever. :W

If the ROM had a source, then I would have tried. The thing is though that it is based off of their stock (file modded) and not built from source, so we can't build for our device by only using the binaries since our devices are nothing alike.

Yea hear ya guys. Just more so interested in this theme. We really only have two themes for hox at this time. And this one is pretty sweet.

MIUI for the HTC Aria/Liberty/Gratia

Before you say that I shouldn't whine for things and that I should try something myself before I beg for something, I have something to say. I've been going a whole week at this trying to somehow port this beautiful MIUI rom to the Aria. I have tried theme porter by taking a translated MIUI rom for another android device and I tried to use attn1's CM 6 rom and try to swap things here and there to make an aesthetically pleasing rom, but when I tried to flash, no luck. Nothing happened. Yet, I saw someone else do this for G1, but I am a novice, not like I know a lot about porting. I know a big problem is that MIUI is for HDPI devices, and I tried to convert but was met with meager success. Now, my request is that maybe someone like attn1 or another android rom expert port MIUI to the Aria. Like I said, I attempted my best but was met with little success. The best I could do was create a pseudo MIUI launcher system, still need to work on the dock.
Here is how my Aria is set up right now (launcher only)
i56(dot)tinypic(dot)com/2uib12c(dot)png (darn picture restriction)
I also have the iphone lock screen and keyboard, lets face it, iOS is more aesthetically pleasing while android is all about the user and customization. This is the very reason I want MIUI, a great bridge taking the best of both worlds.
MIUI would be fun to mess around with. However, the Aria does not have a huge set of developer support. And I don't think that Attn1 is willing to devote the effort required to port MIUI to our phone.
I've been trying to do the same. Except I have an incredible too, that has miui on it, that I've been trying to port it from.
The only problem is the framework and mdpi issues. Its gonna take some time to get this successfully running.
Sent from my incredible Incredible.
i personally only want miui for the toolbar, many home screens, and some of the built in apps. I do not howerver want the app icons and iosy look.
btx here are some devs working on putting this on another mdpi device... the hero, our good old htc cousin...

So r u saying that we fan flash g1 roms?
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
No you can't flash g1 roms because the hardware is entirely different, but the screen size and resolution is the same between them so as far as porting a rom goes, its a better place to start than a rom for something like an evo.

I'm guessing it either can't be done or the task is way too tedious for a ROM that pretty much might be overshadowed by CM 7 (2.3 if we get that)

The odds are better than the odds that you took time to read the Development board where there are 2 ROMs available
and most likely a 3rd one soon by the dev that did the Liberty ROM the Tesla ROM.....
But if all you care about is this CM ROM; go get something else.
I'm sure there will be one eventually, but if you want it within the next month, I'd look elsewhere, as there are no guarantees as to when it will come or how functional it will be.
Lol @ Shotgunsams great response.

@shotgunsam...... Ummmm roms available. There all spruced up TouchWiz tweaks.
I am meaning a true Rom not built ontop of touchwiz.
Either i was looking for hope of one. Since the fascinate never got one.

Uh, did you read the descriptions of the ROMs? DroidXCon gives you LauncherPro, other launchers soon to come, and imnuts has a streamlined ROM with the default AOSP launcher. Both completely remove TW launcher, according to the descriptions.
I too would love to see CM7 for this device. But the fact is, there are a few great ROM's available already, which is incredible considering the phone has only been out for two weeks! I really appreciate the hard work of the devs, and can't wait to see what's available in the coming weeks.
I got the DI when it first came out. First it was when will it get root. Root was a ***** becasue it was so random it worked with some sd cards and some it did not. There were methods of clicking your sd card in and out which actually worked for me. Not a day latter everyone was *****ing about roms. When will we get this or that rom. Look at almost 1 year later and there are crazy amount of roms. It takes time be patient and look forward to what is coming. Crap I am typing this and I don't even get my charge till tuesday. I hate touchwiz I will root, rom, replace launcher with one of my choosing. If I hate something will just get another phone 6 8 months down the road but really not concerned about it at this point. I think in time it will be like every other phone tons of awesome roms from great developers. Liberty was one of if not the best roms for the droidx which I own. Just knowing they same people that worked on that rom is doing stuff for charge has me stoked.
Guys im not knockin the devs. But everything is built off TOUCHWIZ just cause you get rid of the launcher its still touchwiz under the hood.
The fascinate never had a locked bootloader either and noone ever got a stock android rom working. So i was just asking if it would be possible here. Anyways no biggie....

No way of saying will it get cwm7 or not. I will say the Droid x has a locked boot loader but Liberty rom was amazing. They put a ton of details and tweeks so that you could change things they way you want. As much as you could anyways with a locked boot loader. The developers of that rom did a great job with what they had to work with. Now if they are dev for this phone and it is fully unlocked. Wow no dobut will they put out a awesome rom for it. Now I have every intention to installing the best roms out for this phone when I get it tuesday. Developers deserve not only our thanks but donations as well. Thank you guys that put in all the hard work making our phones run crazy cool.
Unlike other skins tw is small and really is easy to remove. I've deleted alot and it still is functioning. Sense roms=200MB touchwiz=100MB and idk about blur

Well Samsung released the kernel source pretty much immediately didn't they? Also didn't Samsung say they were going to be better about releasing that kind of stuff, and also keeping bootloaders more open? So this could be a real possibility. Although if you know what your removing, I would assume like HTC Sense, you can pretty much take a TW based rom and completely remove TW and have it work fine.

The reason the download is so big is that Samsung didn't clean out the kernel source tree after building, and tar'd up the source files as well as the built binaries (and all the other generated files). After you download, do "make distclean" and you'll save yourself some space and get rid of the useless files.

Apparently a lot of people are having trouble understanding the question. lol
I been wondering the same thing though. I have a good feeling about CM getting on bored eventually, it's what I'm looking foreward to the most with this phone. I miss having my notification bar on the bottom of my phone like I did with my D'Inc... lol
The only reason I say I "think" that it has a good chance getting CM support is because it seems, besides the Fascinate, they have been doing a great job cracking down on Samsung phones lately in the past few months. Besides the more phone supported by them, the better and the more recongnition they get. Until then ADW Ex is working fine for me.

Coming from the original Incredible (CDMA) Rooting and ROMing was a breeze and also received CM support pretty quickly. If anything, I would think that the 4G radio would be the hardest work around. You never know though.

Tablet UI.

Could anyone modify some files in order to achieve tablet ui on our ICS Roms?

It seems that no one is capable of helping. "Devs" are just busy making hundreds of Sense roms, and kanging every aosp rom. One dev brings something new, the rest 99devs are just copying. Thats how it goes on our Sensation forum. Im gealous on the SII and GNex comunity.
Seems like that Japanese blog post has instructions on how to build a Tablet UI. Would be awesome if someone jumps on this for the Sensation. If only I knew how to code :/
I am looking into this now. I just got it going on my galaxy note and my buddies nexus, and I must admit, anything 4.5"+ is definitely better suited for the tablet UI. I havent tried it on anything as small as the sensation, but I am going to give it a go. I have already knocked the lcd density down to 213 with the Virtuous Rom and it doesnt attempt to kick down to the tablet UI. So finding the cutoff is step one...

What is the best/lightest rom for the HOX

What is the best vanilla rom and what is the best modified sense rom?
I want it to be light (uses a low amount of ram) and more stable/fast than the stock rom that gets shipped with your AT&T HTC One X... with better battery life.
Thanks,
Wir3d
This post is not going to be received well, FYI, but before they lock you down : I'm really enjoying CleanRom Lite. It's definitely more responsive than stock. It's Sense-based. Very stable (based on my experience, more stable than stock even).
I don't think any of them right now are going to affect battery life in any appreciable way.
There is no "best" ROM. The best one, is the one that fit your wants and needs, and those are not the same from person to person.
Also, just browse the forum or do a search. There are already lots of other threads like this.

There's no one answer because roms perform differently on different phones depending on usage and individual configurations. 500 people may love one rom to death, but you may find it doesn't work so hot on your phone. You have to test them out and see what's best for you.
Read the ROM threads, find one that you think looks good to you, flash it. Only way to find out.

This all comes down to personal preference so you'll have to go through and see what works for you, each ROM has pros/cons. I've tried 3 myself and I found that the Nocturnal SE 1.7 gives me a good speed boost and battery life, I'm getting about 22-28hrs total with ~3hrs screen time at 50% brightness.
Thanks guys, I know the rules of the forum very well.. the point of it was to see which one uses the least amount of ram and get some feedback at the same time. I was a HD2 owner for 2 years and was involved in the HD2 forums for as long as I have owned the phone.I just got the the HOX and wanted to get something on it quick..
I don't see a point of injecting every single rom into my phone just to find out which one uses the least amount of ram when I can start a thread and and find out that way and at the same time get some feedback..that is the whole point of a forum like this..to communicate with others that have similar devices and can help you out.. I've checked out the pages for almost every rom but I haven't seen one that clearly states how much ram it uses for example 341 MB/1000MB...

I didn't really mean it like that, not trying to detract from the hard work that Wildchild puts in. I'm sure it's an awesome ROM and I'm sure he works very hard on it. I just can't find any information on it, even on his own site. After a fair amount of searching, I have no clue what features it has, what kind of tweaks have been made, if it's been themed at all, or just how it differs from the stock ROM. I have seen lots of people mention his ROMs and how awesome they are, so I'm quite curious and would love to check it out but no way am I flashing a ROM that I know quite literally nothing about.
Aokp by rohan32 is best vanilla rom out right now...not even close. That is if you don't mind having a non working video camera. It's extremely light (about 140 megs) and very fast when joined with nova launcher. It has mods out the ying Yang too.

Basically his regular ROM is a tweaked stock ROM and retains all of the stock look with a nice increase in speed. The modded ROMs he releases are more themed and stuff. And it will have a tweaks app built for his ROM that will allow all kinds of customizations. Kind of similar to what's in the xi40 ROM. I used his modded ROM on my Vivid and it was rock solid. I would definitely give it a try, they are very solid ROMs. I saw you posting over there earlier.

Becoming a One X girl soon!

Hello fellow phone nerds!
I am transitioning from Samsung to HTC on Friday! I am so excited to get my One X and tweak it out!! I got a killer deal on it and am so excited! How does everyone like there's? Is there anything I should know about it? What battery life kernel works best for it?
Thanks!
-Jess
A couple things.
Hopefully your new phone hasn't been upgraded already. We can't currently root phones that ship with the latest update or have been updated OTA. Having said that... When you first get your phone on Friday, do NOT update it... dismiss it, cancel the download, postpone it, do whatever you have to until you are comfortable with the procedure on how to root it. That would be extremely unfortunate.
Aside from that, it will take some work on your part but the process of rooting/unlocking is kinda fun for this phone. There is no "all in one toolkit" for this phone. There are various tools you must run, to do various things, to get your phone all setup as the ROM flashing beast you want it to be (granted, its only once, but still). What else.. what else...
P.S. Congrats on the new phone! The community here is much closer nit and nicer (IMHO) than most on XDA..

I have to admit after 2 years of TouchWiz, sense isn't as bad as I remember ... on a tweaked basis. I prefer a fully functional sense based ROM (Venom because its the only one I saw with notification toggles the way AOKP or TouchWiz does it) vs AOKP with issues. I still use Nova because the Sense Widgets aren't worth being stuck on a 4*4 layout, to me.

coming from Motoblur on the original Atrix on AT&T.. Sense is pretty awesome. Motorola really screwed up with the way the made Motoblur in my opinion, i hated it.
As far as battery life, on the Nocturnal Special Edition ROM and ViperXL, I usually get awesome battery life, no custom kernels or anything. I do however, use Root Explorer or TitaniumBackup and remove EVERYTHING that I don't use, like, completely uninstall. i mean, EVERYTHING, like 80% of the sense stuff i remove, widgets, social networking plugins, GOOGLE MAPS i only install when i need it, FACEBOOK, i just use the browser, i like to think of it as flashing my "naked version" of these guys' awesome ROMs
On AOSP ROMs, like AOKP and CM10, I get pretty decent battery as well, but as always, it generally depends on your setup.
The Sense camera is AWESOME. the AOSP camera still needs a bit of tweaking, but has most definitely come a LONG way. i'd say that AOKP 2 that rohan is porting for us is the most solid AOSP we've got going on. I tried the latest MIUI (2.9.14) today, and it still seems very buggy (LOTs of FC's, very, VERY laggy, etc.) but the 4.1.1 JB based MIUI is still very very new
Welcome to xda and htc one x.. Nice to see a girl around here

I bought an S3 for $350 and a One X for $200. I sold the S3 three days later. 2GB of ram is the only thing I'll miss. That phone had battery life so horrible it wasn't even funny. The best I could get was11 hours. The display was way too blue too.
Now I have a mint, white, rooted One X on the way and my sick Rock Quicksand case. I'm psyched!
Here's the link to the case. Buy it. You will NOT be disappointed. I had one for the S3. Amazing case. Polycarbonate with a soft sand feeling. It won't scratch the phone.

Hey congrats and welcome to the crazy One X/XL community.
Hey guys, since I am in the same situation I'll hijack this thread a bit and ask my questions, too.
I am moving from VZW Rezound to the white AT&T Evita (can't bring myself to call it a "HOX") and am hoping I'll get a 1.85 version.
After having lurked here for about a week, my question is whether or not Google Wireless Tether app will work properly on this phone, after/if I root it. The threads weren't clear on this, and I know that the dev ROMs use it, apparently without issue.
I will also attempt to create a janky USB host solution to carrying my most needed music - I commute and I love Google Music, but it doesn't work well in the subway. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Can't wait to get this phone and looking forward to seeing how s-off plays out.

Down boy haha...
I've also tried other phones and in my very own opinion my OneX spanks any other phone that's near. In speed, looks, camera, screen and battery life. You made an awesome choice, welcome! I agree this section of xda has a lot better and friendlier community than the rest. There's the occasion troll, but I really haven't crossed anyone to push me over the edge. Can't wait to see the way you mod this beast

I'll give you a quick answer. Foxfi works much better. I've unlocked the full tether options in my roms and I'm sure other developers have done the same. If you want a good Rom, stay away from the att based ones. Pure junk and full of hidden.bloat. and I'm not talking about apps. And I call the phone a One X too, not a fan of the hox name lol. Join us and you will fall in love with this device. We are about to get jellybean sense 4.5 too...

Ask that out loud in Australia and see what kind of reaction you get.
Welcome aboard Jess. Hope your phone's on <2.20.

Oh and can someone point me in the right direction of the One X toolkit?

As already pointed out, there is no "toolkit" for the One X.
But everything you need can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
Is the phone the AT&T branded version? If you receive the phone with AT&T's 2.20 firmware, you're stuck without root (at least for now).
Otherwise, root tools can be found in the index. Then for installing custom ROMs, kernels, radios, etc. the process is to get SuperCID, unlock bootloader and install TWRP recovery.
