[Q] Boot Animation Modificiation? - General Questions and Answers

Can someone direct me to a tutorial on how to change the boot animation either from modifiying the .zip file ROM or just doing it after installing the ROM?

Instructions are available for nearly every phone if you search your device's specific forum. This one is for the (g2 and desire z) basic idea. I'd do some searching in your thread though.
**ROOT Is Required**
For BootAnimations:
The usual notice i am not repsonsible if you brick your device but this is pretty easy to do... follow the instructions below:
1. Follow the link to download.
2. Download and rename the file to bootanimation.zip
3. Put it on your sdcard
4. Open terminal enter these commands: (for Cyanogen and Stock Rom)
su
cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /data/local/
For those of you who have it the root explorer.apk also works to install
1. Same as above
2. Same as above
3. Same as above
4. Open Root explorer
5. Select bootanimation.zip from sdcard
6. Select move
7. Find Data folder
8. Find Local folder
9. Paste into Local folder
SENSE Roms Instructions: (Absolute System.apk Needed)
1. Download and install Absolute System.apk
2. Select download bootanimations
3. Press Menu
4. Change Install Location
5. Select EVO4G
6. Download Bootanimation
7. Use a File Manager to move Bootanimation into sdcard/goodies/bootanimations
8. Open Absolute System.apk
9. Select Downloaded Bootanimations
10. Select the Bootanimation you just placed in the file

[BOOT ANIMATION] - Mortal Kombat " Scorpion face off Kratos " -

this Boot Animation is Base on the new Mortal Kombat Game....well this is a special case my favorite character from the series " SCORPION " face off Olympus god killer "KRATOS"
using Liberty ToolBox is the easy way to install the animation or any boot animation IF YOU ARE USING LIBERTY ROM...rename the zip file as " bootanimation.zip " as need it
if you are using LIBERTY 1.5 ROM do the follow :
*- copy the animation zip file to your Root SDcard
*- then run "Liberty Toolbox"
*- goto "Liberty Tweaks"
*- goto "Manage Boot Animation"
*- then "Install /sdcard/bootanimation.zip"
Reboot and enjoy the animation ...
using ADB :
1. download files below
2. put the file in your sdk/tools folder
3. rename the file to "bootanimation.zip" if is need it
4. go into adb and push file as follows:
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
adb reboot
Reboot your Droid X and Enjoy
Using ROOT EXPLORER to the follow :
1. copy the bootanimation.zip in your SDcard.
2. using Root Explorer copy/Move the bootanimation.zip
3. goto " data "
4. goto " local "
5. copy/move file here. NOTE: if there is another "bootanimation.zip" file here rename it sample = original_animation.zip
6. long press "bootanimation.zip" and click Permissions then select every single checkbox there click OK.
7. press BACK till you're out of Root Explorer.
8. REBOOT and enjoy

[Guide] Change system apps icon without apktool

Hello all , i post my new guide to change icons without using apktool . This guide is for newbies though other all advance developer may think this useless or may be they known this a very ago.
# Note :-
1) This guide is for all newbies who want to edit there app icons , but dont have apktool or have no knowledge about it .
2) This guide is only applicable for system apps .
3) You should have knoweledge for flashing zips by CWM .
# What is needed ?
1) A must have computer with paint (opptional) [ some phones with Zarchiver app can be used . ]
2) WinRar
3) A flashable zip file supplied by other developer .
4) A icon Set which you want to replace with .
# Procedure :-
1) Make a directory called " stock " .
2) Paste your app in it .
3) Below i have taken SystemUI.apk.
4) Rename that app to SystemUI.zip ( just make .apk to .zip format )
5) Then go to options (press right mouse button) press Extract to SystemUI
6) After extracting go to the extracted folder " SystemUI"
7) Browse to res / drawable-mdpi / you will find all icons there . ( In my case its mdpi , it may be hpdi .)
8) Note that the resolution must be same or it may not look good . [ Expiremental ]
9) Replace the icon which you want to from your icon set .
10) Go back to folder where you will find folders like META-INF , res , & files like AndroidManifest.xml , classes.dex, resources.arsc .
11) Now select that all files and press the right button of the mouse ( the options button) .
12) Select the Add to Archive option .
13) Now keep the same name of the app you are modding and select " zip " .
14) A new zip file is created like " SystemUI.zip" . Rename it to SystemUI.apk ( just from .zip to .apk )
15) Now your modded app is ready .
16) Take the flashable zip provided by other developer .
17) open that zip and replace your file with his . ( in folder system/app/ " replace here ." )
18) Save the zip . And Flash it using CWM !!! Enjoy now you can see your modded icons .!!
I will post xml editing guide for newbies afterwards .

Dolby Atmos [ All Android above 4.3]

DOLBY ATMOS​
For Android 4.3x​
Since this is a software, it should work on all android ( 4.3 and above ). Also contains two types of installation 'one with custom recovery and other without custom recovery' . If you have installed other dolby, it may conflict. Links are given at the bottom. .
***WARNING***​1. DO THIS AT YOUR RISK. (I am not responsible for any damage).
2. MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR ROM/FIRMWARE
3. BACKUP THE AUDIO_ EFFECTS.CONF into your sd card as there is some reason. ( located in the path /system/etc/audio_effects.conf.)
REQUIREMENTS​1. Rooted android device. ( compulsory )
2. Custom recovery if you have. ( not compulsory ).
3. If you dont have custom recovery, then download ES file explorer from playstore open it and given it permission of root with superuser . Steps below.
INSTALLATION STEPS​
Install Without Recovery​
1. Open ES file explorer
2. Go to left top and tap menu.
3. Go to the bottom to the tab 'tools' .
4. In the 'tools' tab, tap on 'Root explorer' and give permission to superuser.
Note:- whatever you paste( the files of dolby) , then you have to change that file's or folder's permission, ( only to be done after you paste each file and make each folders) steps below =
I. ( for the files) keep holding on the file you have pasted and go to 'properties' and tap 'change permission' , now tick all in the first column, in second column only the first to be ticked. Now tap OK ( these are for the files you create or paste).
II. ( for the folder) same steps as above, now in the first column tick all, second column only the first to be ticked. In the third column all to be ticked.
5. Now go to path /system/app
6. Make folders 'As' and 'AsUI' ( only if other apps are in each folders / if all the apps are mixed then skip this step).
7. Paste As and AsUI in apps (if other are mixed. Any doubt means feel free to ask).
OR​
7. Paste 'As.apk' in the folder 'As' and 'AsUI.apk' in the folder 'AsUI' ( if other apps are in each folder).[ Any doubt means feel free to ask.]
8.Change those folders and apps permission as given above.
9. Go to path /system/etc/ and now paste audio_effect.conf (if already exists take a backup of yours and paste there. If you want me to edit your phones original audio.conf, then upload it and I will add dolby to that for you, so that everything in your audio_effect.conf remains same ( I will just add some lines there and it's still your audio_effect.conf.
10. Change permission of that.
11. In the same path, make a folder 'dolby'. Change permission of that folder.
12. In the folder 'dolby' paste the file 'ds-default.xml' and change its permission.
13. Go to path /system/lib and paste the file 'libdlbdapstorage.so' and change its permission.
14. Go to path /system/lib/sounds and paste the file 'libswdap-mod.so' and change its permission.
15. Go to path /system/vendor/etc (if path not available make a folder and change permission).
16. In the above path, paste 'audio_effects.conf' and change the permission.
17. Just reboot your device and you have successfully installed.
Install with Recovery​
1. Just flash it with your custom recovery.
2. Boot your device and have successfully installed.
UNINSTALLATION STEPS​
Uninstall Without Recovery​
1. Just delete the files you have pasted to install dolby atmos with ES File Explorer. ( only the files I gave )
2. Replace the audio_effects.conf with your backup and change permission as defined above. ( delete the one I gave you and paste there with your old one.)
3. Reboot your device and you have successfully uninstalled.
Uninstall with Recovery​
1. Just flash the UNINSTALL.zip with your custom recovery. ( links below)
2. Reboot your device and you have successfully uninstalled.

[ANDROID][BOOT LOGO]Watch Dogs Flashable Boot animation for Mediatek Devices

Hey Gyzz here is cool boot animation for most of many Mediatek devices this succesfully tested my me.
Requirements
*Rooted phone
*TWRP unlocked
*ES Explorer
*ROM tool box lite (available of playstore)
Downloads:

(Replace the spaces between the links with dots and then paste it into the browser)
Procedure
1. Switch off your phone
2. Go to TWRP recovery mode then go to install
3. first you have to install boot animation file and then boot logo zip file
4. reboot your phone you will get the boot animation but not the sound
5. Open es explorer then go to home,system,media
6. There will file as bootanimation of stock sound juzz rename it by adding 1 i.e bootanimation1
7. Paste the sound file and rename it by the stock file name
8. Open rom tool box then root browser then system then media then press and hold the file of WD sound file
9. Goto properties the only tick the option as shown in image i.e is ss while chaing sound file
10. All done juzz restart the phone you will get the sound too

[TUT] Change H+ Network Status Bar Icon Manually to 4G for 3G Devices

Required:
1. Devices Rooted
2. Root Explorer
Steps:
1. Please do backup your device before to do this tutorial for just in case system failure.
2. Open Root Explorer if has installed.
3. Find SystemUI.apk file at System -> Priv-app folder.
4. Then copy and paste in the root of Micro SD Card.
5. Click and hold SystemUI.apk then choose to Extract All.
6. Go find SystemUI extracted file folder on SpeedSoftware folder -> Extracted folder.
7. Open SystemUI folder -> Res -> drawable-hdpi.
8. Find this 6 files on Drawable HDPI folder:
stat_sys_gemini_data_connected_4g_orange.png
stat_sys_gemini_data_connected_4g_orange_roam.png
stat_sys_gemini_data_connected_h_plus_orange.png
stat_sys_gemini_data_connected_h_plus_orange_roam.png
stat_sys_gemini_signal_3g_orange.png
stat_sys_gemini_signal_4g_orange.png
9. Copy those 6 files from Drawable HDPI folder then paste on new folder to edit.
10. Please do not confuse it & here's you must to do:
Rename "stat_sys_gemini_data_connected_4g_orange.png" to "stat_sys_gemini_data_connected_h_plus_orange.png" (without ").
Rename "stat_sys_gemini_data_connected_4g_orange_roam.png" to "stat_sys_gemini_data_connected_h_plus_orange_roam.png" (without ").
Rename "stat_sys_gemini_signal_4g_orange.png" to "stat_sys_gemini_signal_3g_orange.png" (without ").
And if it ask to overwrite or replace, just click or choose yes.
11. And if it has done, you just choose and copy only 3 files:
stat_sys_gemini_data_connected_h_plus_orange.png
stat_sys_gemini_data_connected_h_plus_orange_roam.png
stat_sys_gemini_signal_3g_orange.png
12. Paste back to folder SystemUI folder -> Res -> drawable-hdpi on folder that you've been extracted before & please click or choose yes if it ask to overwrite.
13. When everything has done, then click on SystemUI folder & hold to choose Zip this folder.
14. Rename from SystemUI.zip to SystemUI.apk then copy & paste back to System -> Priv-app folder and please click or choose yes if it ask to overwrite or replace notification.
15. Click or choose and hold SystemUI.apk and please edit permission to R-W-R-R or enter Octal to 0644. Click yes if it appear notification "The current file system is read-only, do you want to remount as read-write and continue the operation?" and put it back to read-only mode if it has done.
16. Reboot your device if you has ready for big surprise and some "Forced Close" notification, and please reboot again your device for more stable & please let H+ data network become 4G on your Android device status bar.
(Tested working fine on Acer Liquid E700 Triple SIM - MTK6582 - Android Kitkat 4.4.2 Stock ROM)
PS: Please do it at on your own risk. i'm not responsible if your Android device bootloop or system failure because this modifying.
why i cant find "drawable-hdpi" ???
