i personally hate the update.. no changes to the UI or the lockscreen or nothing,... u shouldnt have to D/L other programs just too change the UI, the update should do that.. just my personal opinion
I did the update and I seen a lot of changes Like speed when you install aps they added some more setting and the phone don't lag speed increase
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
The only reason i updated was for gingerbread and quicksettings. Speed-wise it seems to be about the same as froyo.
I agree with you on the speed. Everything seems to fun better. Like browsing cnn.com on desktop mode. Before the update it would lag pretty bad for me while scrolling. Also noticed that using my bluetooth headset works better.
It would have been nice to see changes to the default UI but I am totally happy with the update.

Why would they change the ui?
Take a minute and think about it. How many people have this phone and do nothing to mod it... or have any clue how to.
So... if they changed the ui from what the phone was sold with... do you think the average dumbass human would take the time to learn.... or just take the phone in or call freaking out.
You don't buy a car then expect a new paint job when you took it in for an oil change do you?
Just saying. Topics like this make me want to boat over a dolphin and club a baby seal.

do any of your guys facebook contacts sync with your phone book contact after the update?
lol, facebook won't sync with 2.3.4 facebook refuses to follow the android standard, google gave them a ”grace period” to comply and they haven't so it's not going to work until facebook gets off their high house. I lol because this is really old news, guess you don't follow tech blogs/sites

My facebook sync's just fine on 2.3.4
From what I have read facebook is going to put out their own o/s for phones. I don't see it going very far though.

Mine syncs fine with 2.3.5 too.
Battery life. AMAZING. I would get 10 hours on froyo. 1gb data a month..web browsing YouTube Facebook etc.. hundreds of texts a day. Push email. Take a couple pics a day with flash.sync and auto brightness on. Occasional GPS.
16 hours of battery life. 11am - 3am. Wow. Today I only charged it a little to 65%. I got 9-10 hours from that with the same usage.
If I use it from 7am on, im confident it'll be on low battery at 11pm, rather than after dinnertime.
lucky bastards
Interesting, it shouldn't.. Do facebook contacts appear in your contacts list?

lol awd?[All wheel Drive!] The launcher is called ADW[Anderweb] named after its developer. Just thought it was funny seeing awd here.
Unless ya are referring to overclocking.

On the MT4G launcher pro is the fastest for me and then it's GO launcher after it, both have no lag for me.
Overall I'm definitely loving this phone
One thing I've noticed is that in a dark room this phone is ridiculously bright on auto
And that the high level of brightness are causing a little bit of color washout
Swype worked initially, I switched keyboards and then switched back now it shows up half the size it should be
(Another thing I hadn't realized is how many apps wouldn't be coded for ics yet, looking for native ics app suggestions)
(Also is there a way to make the battery in the notification bar have a percentage)
Is anyone else having these issues?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I agree with you on the brightness. Once we have the bootloader unlocked there are ways to change the auto brightness sensitivity. Same with the battery %.
The swype issue is an issue with the swype beta. I have already posted on their forums reporting the bug.
As for apps, they're being updated for ICS slowly but surely. Be patient

Lol but instant gratification is awesome.
Btw you see the thread about a possible perma root method being found?
Any good alternative swype like keyboards found?

No I haven't seen that thread.
Swype alternatives? Nothing is quite the same as Swype, but Swiftkey X is pretty damn good for standard touch typing.
Idk I just find it surprising that even huge apps ex. Facebook haven't been updated yet. Then again barely any devices have ics so......

Actually the default keyboard is swipe enabled. I actually like it better because the auto correct seems to be more accurate. It had its flaws but it is great for swipe and touch typing whereas swype sucks for touch typing.

Just an fyi, if you use notification toggles, you get not only the toggles but you can also set the app icon in the status bar to show battery with percent . It's kinda a bandaid for now but it works for me till we can get some custom Rom goodness.

which is weird, but then again other apps have darker blues
anyone elses facebook app (across the top bar) look like brighter then it should?
What internet browser do you use on your One X, and why? I used stock ICS for about two weeks, using Chrome beta now and enjoying it.
I tried to put a wide variety of browsers I found in the play store, choose other and please tell us what you use and why.
Thanks

I still use and prefer Chrome beta over the Firefox beta due to the interface. Chrome just "feels" right. But the latest Firefox renders pages stupid fast. Chrome's not bad, but I really wish it was that fast.

Chrome feels different than the desktop version obviously, but I really like how they did the tabs. That's one thing that annoying me coming form an iPhone was having to go to a menu to open my tabs instead of a single button on the screen.

You can also swipe at the edge of the screen to change tabs.... Anyway, my problem with chrome right now is that its a little too laggy for what I was used to on my galaxy s ii so until that gets fixed ill be using dolphin HD, which runs very smooth for the most part.
Stock..
- great battery life
- renders more sites correctly from my bookmarks 100% stock vs 95% chrome
- Labs feature

So the one thing I loved about the gs3 was the fact that the dropdown was perfect...60fps no matter what was going on..always perfect. Well of course Samsung had to absolutely ruin that with jb and it's now like half the framerate than ics was, and it's slow and clunky and downright bad compared to ics. Are there any jb roms out there running the ics dropdown or a modified version? I'm pretty sure that whole fading background as it comes down is what lags it out.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 2
nobody, huh?
they seriously took 2 steps forward and like 4 backwards with this update. don't understand how this doesn't bug anyone else. the notif dropdown on the lockscreen lags to all hell and just isn't smooth at all. it's worse on lockscreen than it is when you're unlocked, but it's still choppy.
Looks pretty damn smooth to me...

Smooth as can be for me. Rooted and not rooted.

Jayochs has vision that sees in 120fps... Lol. It is slightly slower but that is the trade off I guess.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I agree that the drop down is noticeably slower and pretty choppy at times.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
im glad other people do notice it. It's nothing like it was on ics. i actually went and flashed cm10 then put on a touchwiz skin just so it looks stock but is quicker. cm10 isn't even smooth but it's better than touchwiz.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 2
it's always laggy for me after first unlocking the screen. On synergy 169 with lean kernel 1.6
I've flashed various TW ROMs (Hyperdrive, CleanROM, and BoneStock) - all of them exhibit the same stutter with pulling down the Notification drawer. I'm also using Stock Kernal and the stutter exists regardless if I'm running at 1.5ghz Max (Performance/Noop).
I have been tempted to flash over to an AOSP ROM with a custom kemal. Can anyone comment if that'll fix the issue?

I also am seeing similar issues with the Twitter/Contacts issue. An update was just released, but did not fix that issue for me. It seems everyone I have seen that has had the issue is running an AOSP ROM... hmm.
Gingerbread sure misses out on a lot of the hot apps these days. I wonder why they made it 4.0+?
They are definitely using APIs that are available only in 4.0+

It is uber buggy, has evidentally crashed Twitters API, isn't posting to Twitter, can't use front camera and crashes constantly.
Puh-lease!
I've also noticed the bugs and blatantly missing features like searching for users. Hopefully they fix this quick. It was definitely rushed to the market.
