got my HTC Sensation back from HTC yesterday
they replaced the main board.
all seemed well, today when I took it off the charger it does not seem to have charged the phone
it then very quickly died as the battery went
now it won't even flash the orange light
completely dead
have ordered a genuine battery
failing that its back to HTC
any ideas ?
totally stock phone, genuine battery and charger and cable
Do not use a HTC battery. They have their issues.
Buy a Anker battery. You can find these on ebay at fairly decent prices.
Got an anker too, same result, still kaput.

Check the pins that connect to the battery and make sure they are not bent any.
pins are A'ok
tried a 2nd genuine battery that was 60% out of the pack.
phone fired up, put it on charge, 1h 30m was down to 48%
so it claims to be charging, but is not
anyhoo, its back with UPS on its way back HTC for the second time.
Come tomorrow HTC has had it a week, strange
1st time they had it just a day before they sent it back with a new mainboard.
HTC tracking say repair complete
should be on the UPS wagon tonight and here tomorrow.
back in repair
must have failed QC inspection
Now marked as shipped
should be here tomorrow.
Got phone back
Not fixed
marked as no fault found
they must have only plugged it in to see if it said charging and the orange light came on
plainly did not check to see if the percentage increased
back to HTC a 3rd time

Have you tried a different charger/cable?
Have tried all the below
and home and at work.
x2 HTC chargers and cables
x1 Samsung Galaxy S charger
x2 HTC batterys
x1 Anker battery.
Wow 3 times! I really hope they fix the issue correctly this time! They say three times is a charm, hopefully it will be repaired correctly!

Tried a HBoot mode charge, no dice
HTC tracking saying repair complete
bets on it not being ?
Hope its sorted this time
sadly the repair proccess can be a bit hit and miss for charging issues and normaly there is no 24 hours soak time to check, all down to keeping the costs low :crying:
I used to work for Virgin on the mobile tech side and the repair centre could be great or rubish they use UTL in the Midlands somewhere. The most common issue was sending the phone back incomplete (not counting when it was sent in requesting the wrong repair of course)
well if its still knackered Im going to demand to talk to a super and get a new sensation or better.
OK

as if they are still waiting for it to arrive
They've had it near a week as was claiming repaired earlier in today.
I have just received my phone back from HTC today and I had the same issue's with the repair tracker, after staying on "awaiting device" for about a week it just changed suddenly to "repair complete", the next day it went back to "awaiting device" then it went to "in repair" before they finally shipped it back, took my phone about 2 weeks intotal. The whole thing was confusing and not really informative but they fixed my phone so I can't really complain.
Hope you get you phone back soon and fully repaired!

I have my sensation back
it now charges :victory:
we all know what happened here
mobo went faulty
1st Replaced by techie failed who failed reconnect a small ribbon cable
So it refuses to charge due to small ribbon cable not being connected
2nd Techie choose to believe what the phone said it was charging, rather than just wait 10 minutes to see if it did.
3rd a letter was enclosed telling them the fault exactly, hey presto its fixed

Well, my inspire started the rebooting randomly thing a few weeks ago. I didnt think much of it because it would only happen maybe once a week. But that got a lil worse, started happening more and more. A couple of days ago my Inspire would not stay on. Right after powering on, it shows the HTC logo and actually boot all the way to the home screen, then shuts off. The only way I can keep the phone on is if connected to power. I suspect the battery died. The battery indicator says battery is fully charged. Tried wiping battery stats, did nothing. Unrooted and returned to stock and S-on. Went to ATT store and was given a number to call for a replacement or i can go to 1 of 3 service depot locations where I can get a replacement.
Can't wait to get a new one. Just sharing

That sux. You're the first person I've seen here on XDA with that issue, that I can recall, at least, so I think it's safe to say it was an isolated incident...
Unlike the Samsung Captivate, where it was a frighteningly common occurrence.
Did you actually try another battery? Just curious.
(Your better off getting a replacement, as you are doing, because you don't want to be paranoid 24/7 of your phone shutting off, if indeed it's something defective internal to the phone itself.)
Inspired Ace 1.0.1¦ XDA Premium
replace it, easier troubeshooting. that way you'll know if its the inspire or just that one phone
1st Inspire - speaker died, SD card would not mount
2nd Inspire - camera would not autofocus
3rd Inspire - crooked screen, battery cover sticks out or right side about 1 mm, snags
I LOVE my Inspire, but I don't think it's the highest quality HTC device...

I suddenly dont feel so bad lol
My inspire's bottom cover sticks out about 1mm on the right side. I love the phone, but the covers are just bad design.
Update:
It is the battery, went to ATT and they put in a loaner battery and phone is fine. Sucks though they didn't have a battery in stock, or a new one to give me well anyway, they're shipping the battery to my house. should be here tomorrow or saturday.
Kinda sucks i had to return my phone back to stock and unroot and s-on. oh well... rooting is fun

Yeah, unfortunately I have to agree. I have 2 here and both have different issues. One has a perfect screen but the covers fit like ****. The other has a screen that is totally out of whack and other little quarks not worth mentioning. Nothing to get worked up about but man. I also know that allot of inspires get returned for bluetooth issues and you may have guessed battery is **** issues. I love this phone, hell I have 2, but man what is the deal with htc's quality control. And whoever the fluck decided to put this tiny ass battery in this hog is wonked in the head.
The only thing I don't like about my phone is the stupid battery cover. The first time I tried to open it back up after installation I think I broke or bent a guide tab, because the door sticks out a hair more than original. But I have a case, so its not bothering me.

Finally received my battery replacement from ATT warranty. Phone is working again!! woot! Already re-rooted So Happy!
Just sharing.
Replace the battery, clearly its the problem..
COuldve been worse. I should complaint to At&t or HTC and get a new battery so I can replace if my Inspire died hahahaha.
I woke up this morning and found my phone (7 Pro) was mildly wet on the bottom. I slid open the keyboard to make sure it wasn't wet everywhere and it wasn't. After I dried off the bottom and started using it it began getting wet again. When I opened the battery cover to investigate I found the source of the liquid and immediately pulled the battery out. There is now discoloration on the battery and inside the battery hutch. The battery appears to have stopped leaking this liquid but it has only been an hour. I am obviously concerned that this has damaged my phone. The phone was working though when I checked my email and discovered it was wet.
When I researched it said Lithium ion batteries aren't supposed to leak but this is the only explanation I can come up with. The phone wasn't near water and since the top half of the phone wasn't wet, this must be the case.
Is my phone damaged?
Can I use the old battery from the TP2 (both batteries say RHO160 on them)?
you can use old battery... also if under warranty, complain...
I already wrote to HTC but I don't think I'll hear back from them until tomorrow. I hope they don't pull some **** about it being water damage...
How did it end? I've got a similar problem

Well now I'm using my old TP2 battery and it's working fine. There doesn't appear to be any damage to the phone which is reassuring, but who knows in the long run. What happened to your phone exactly? Which model do you have etc?
Also HTC were very understanding (though I got a female service rep) and they're sending a new battery my way. I'm too scared to try the old battery again.

I bought my phone on ebay and it's an unlocked unbranded htc 7 pro, so no I can't just go get a replacement.
It must have just been the battery since I have tried 2 old TP2 batteries and neither have leaked so the phone is not destroying batteries .
After having problems of randomly shutting off and having to take off the battery and put it back to turn it on, my phone got to the point of not even turning on even if I pull and reinsert the battery.
The phone was less than a month old.
I searched over the internet and found that the problem could be the battery so I bought a pair of new batteries (hyperion) from amazon but that didn't work.
I don't live in the US so my question before giving up and buy a new phone is... Is my Inspire 4G dead??
Call HTC its still under warranty

HTC does not warranty phones out of the retailing country. Unless you know someone in the US that can make the warranty claim for you.

Have you tried powering up while plugged in to charge to make sure if its the battery or not?
Not living in the US
By chance are you a US citizen that is a student, federal employee, or U.S. military? If so you might have a reasonable chance of getting them to honor the warranty being "out of country" as you are. If you are a foreign national, try one of the methods mentioned above. It sucks that your phone is having issues.
You won't believe what happened.....
Suddenly my phone started to work. I reinserted the new battery and the phone started to charge it. The phone was off but the animation of the battery appeared (htc battery widget). I left it charge to 100% before turning the phone on again.
I had removed the original micro sd card (I forgot the thing in my office), so I inserted another one that I had in home.
The phone worked, finally!! But suddenly it started to show error messages with android sense and other stuff so I decided to do a factory reset.
When I did so, the phone stayed in the screen with the screen that shows the 3 android figures on skates and I thought it had frozen, so I pulled out the battery and now it doesn't turn on again. :'(
Going back to my original question.... is it dead now???
Hey Guys. I was charging my Sensation XE, and after about 3 hours or so, when I picked it up, the touchscreen wasn't responding (but the power button was working). I pulled out the battery and after that I was able to turn the phone on just once. After the touchscreen still didn't respond, I tried pulling out the battery again. The phone didn't respond whatsoever (PC, AC charging).
I did go to get a new battery today, but while the phone did turn on with a new battery, the touchscreen still wasn't working. The store didn't have an XE battery (I would get it tomorrow), so I wanted to ask you guys if you have any suggestions, or ideas?
(Details about the device are in my signature).
Thanks in advance.
The same issue happened to me some days before and after doing so much research on the matter I found it was the charger pin which was doing this..I changed and touch screen works fine since your touch screen isn't working completely mine was working but not comfortable enough....

Eureka!
UPDATE: So after struggling for days a with battery problem (my country just doesn't seem to have a HTC Sensation XE battery, and I didn't wanna degrade to a Sensation's), I got the idea that since my battery has gone days without any charging, it might, just might, be able to hold some charge again. So I put it back on charger, and voila, it was able to charge. I tried going to fastboot, but my PC couldn't identify the device (FASTBOOT warned me of a very low battery level), but in the end it didn't even matter (Love LP).
Initially, android was able to boot on battery, but it didn't recognize the AC charging, and the phone shut down immediately after pulling out the charger. After multiple tries, it finally recognized the charger, and I am afraid to touch it lest it dumps me again.
Apparently, it also solved my touchscreen issues (I didn't have to reflash the firmware). Taking a guess, I would say that the low voltage level cannot allow the touchscreen to operate at all (the POWER and VOLUME buttons worked fine). After my phone recognized the charger though, the touchscreen came to life as well.
I am posting this so that anybody who runs into similar issues can benefit..
What didn't help me:
A similar HTC battery (for Desire I believe) with 3.8 V rating (Sensation XE has a 3.7 ~1700 mAh battery).
The HTC Service Center. The guy told me that the battery is dead. Fair enough. Apart from that though he put the above mentioned Desire battery and when the touchscreen didn't respond he told me told me that it would cost Rs 8000 (~$126) to replace he whole screen). So better watch out at the HTC Service Center (at least in India, I am very disappointed with their service).
just to know any kind of services are following specific politics about fixing issues
that's why in most cases they are saying we have to replace this,we have to replace that etc....

Yeah, but $126 is kinda lot (I need to save for Galaxy S5). They are ripping people off with misdiagnosis. This is very bad practice on part of HTC. Samsung, Nokia have great customer service compared to HTC. When I asked if I could get a new XE battery, the guy flat out told me they didn't have one and since the phone is discontinued, no batteries (seriously!).
I could get an Anker, but overseas shipping makes it unresonable.
I bought my Pixel 4 XL when it first released and pre-ordered,. I soon after got my phone and everything was lovely I had a screen protector ready for it and a good case to protect it from any falls or any damaged. I've had the phone since the phone released and now my phone is refusing to hold a charge.. It seems to be stuck at 50% but dies as soon as I take it off the charger. At one point I was able to make it actually charged the battery from 0 to 100 if I squeezed the bottom G portion of the back of the phone. That seems to have stopped working now.. now my phone even on the charger is literally at 0%, and the only thing keeping it alive is a charger itself. As soon as I take it off it will turn off randomly but when I plug it into the charger in powered off , it will show a battery with a ? Within it. My phone is under the one year manufacturers warranty and Google advise me that I could take it into uBreakiFix to get it fixed.. mind you, the place is almost 60 miles away from me. I have never dropped my phone it's been in a case and the screen is a virgin screen because I've had a screen protector on it since the moment I opened the box..
This kind of reminds me of the Nexus 6P shutting off at 30 to 40% because of a faulty battery..
I've googled around for solutions and apparently this is a known issue in Google tracker and apparently it is a hardware issue with a flex cable that comes out of the battery... Not only does the battery have a negative and a positive terminal it also has a data terminal that reports battery health battery temperature battery voltage and anything having to do with the battery. Well apparently the soldering in that part of the cable is faulty and cracks according to them due to dropping the phone or damaging it but again mind you I've never dropped my phone it's been in the case since day one..
I've taken really good care of my device like I'm pretty sure a lot of you have...
I have a feeling that before the Pixel 5 is out many people will be experiencing these problems because this is not a software problem this is a manufacturing problem within the phone itself.
again I took a really good care of my phone this was not supposed to happen so expect it to happen in yours even though you've taken good care of it.

I would push for in advanced RMA. Be civil and respectful but also set boundaries, like the fact that a 60 mi trip is absolutely insane for a product that is under warranty and is experiencing a manufacturing defect. If you're getting nowhere with the current rep, ask to escalate the case to a manager and proceed to plead your case. They should do it, I don't see why they wouldn't under your scenario as you tell it. Good luck.
I've had my Oh So Orange Pixel 4 XL since probably the same time as yours and no battery charge and usage issues here. You're within the one year warranty so I would go for a replacement.

I've had this problem. I took it to ubreakifix to have it repaired. No problems since.
The service I received at ubreakifix was subpart today the least.
Google will also let you send the phone in for repair. You would just have to wait.
Fyi I had to take my phone in to ubreakifix they didn't have parts, then wait for parts to come in. Then their online tracking said the phone was done and when I came in had to wait an hour for it to actually be repaired.
If they are that far away save yourself a headache and just send it in to Google.

I had replaced my Nexus 5X twice with Google and both times they send you a phone and THEN you send back the old one. The only wait time was receiving the working phone which was no more than 2 days.

Here is what happens. See the picture of the Pixel I just had fixed. And why pressing on the G on the back glass helps.
Look at the new battery on the ground under the phone. Notice the gold connector. Then look at the used battery in the air. The connector comes off the battery.
In my case, the connector was stuck in the board, and the main board needed replacing. Thankfully google approved it.
I honestly feel like that with time this will start beginning to happen on a lot of pixel 4 xls

I think that only works if you bought directly from Google or Fi. 3rd party, i.e. Verizon, BB purchases do not have advance replacement. You can't even put a credit card hold on a device to get AR if you didn't buy it from them.
