I would like to request a forum for the care and feeding of the Asus Transformer Infinity:
http://eee.asus.com/eeepad/transformer-infinity/features/
The Asus Transformer Infinity will be the best Android tablet available this year. It will be one of only two Android tabs with 1080p resolution, and it will be the only one with a docking keyboard. As thus, it would be the flagship tablet for Android, replacing the Transformer Prime.
With Asus as Google's launch partner, the Infinity will likely be the first to get Jelly Bean after the Nexus 7. But unlike the Nexus, the Infinity's 10.1" outdoor-usable display, combined with keyboard dock, is a more versatile and useful device, capable of replacing laptops.
I realize that this isn't the official "channel" for a new forum request. But I think the Infinity is more than just your typical Android tablet, and deserves to have a few words spoken for it, more than the basic "+1" response. Given XDA's major role in advancing Android development, the Asus Transformer Infinity deserves to have a place here.
Thanks in advance for your consideration.

This is going to be a highly popular tablet and probably many ppl will want to play with its firmware and OS, so it should definitely have its place @xda.
Good Idea
I too would like to see a section for the Infinity. Asus is known for making great tablets, and speaking purely specs this is their best yet. I cant wait to see what awesome stuff the dev community creates for it, and I'm sure I'm not alone.
Just think... who wouldnt want a 1920x1200 touchscreen netbook running native linux? Or a light, high DPI device with CM9 support?

I believe its now appropriate that the Infinity gets its own sub-forum. Many XDA members have one now and it's only a matter of time before people start tweaking and modding:good:

Pretty run of the mill inside, but that's one hell of a chassis. what i'm amazed by is that toughbooks and toughbook slates have always been these horrifically huge things, but this actually has a decent thickness (hello toshiba thrive), isn't fugly, and manages to keep a 10 hour battery!
anyone here considering dropping $1300 on one? anyone?

You can run over a Toughbook with a Hummer or something like that and it will still work. If the Touchpad is anything like that, I can definately see the Touchpad selling well to those super paranoid types. I wouldn't drop $1300 for one, but I guess it is cool that Panasonic is making tablets.
Touchpad was 99$ /troll
However, it looks nice, but what about screen? Is it tough enough?
how is the user interface? never seen panasonic come out this technical

... I just realized that error.
I am assuming they are using gorilla glass for the screen. Panasonic really needs to reveal the specs on this thing (besides the usual stuff obviously).

This.
Not for your everyday user. This would be invaluable in some business applications as well. Many restraunts have tabs implemented with their ordering systems, this would offer much more reliability. I've seen city employees with iPads mapping the sewer systems etc. Pretty exciting product for me

mmm... square, maybe withe... watch out Apple has a huge law department and lotta lawyers...
but to be serious your idea is good but it seems like something just looked at, I know it's difficult to be original but go ahead..
see the nexus line with curved display, maybe you don't like it but only that phone is curved so I think we need on design study otherwise in next years my phone will be different from you just for the manifacturer logo
Its a tablet?

it's tablet.
it does not like a apple.

There's just nothing original or outstanding to it.

Yeah took the words out of my mouth. the design is simply too bland and, if i may, cliched. If you are pursuing designing (OMG I love you, the one art type i could never do even if my art grade depended on it), then i suggest you redesign. I can't help you sorry, as from what my post implies, i am very uncreative. xD
Or maybe just lacking in designing talent.
X2, totally agree.
a 4" screen, 4G (LTE) data connection and the ability to have 5 icons in a row. Sounds familiar? It took Apple 5 years and their best minds research to make an SGS 4G...
So who needs to sue who now?

That's the thing about Apple. Their most current success is mostly due to marketing, and not their product. You can give Apple consumers a iPhone 4 (or whatever the previous version is), tell them it's an iPhone 5, and they'll believe you. Not only would they believe you, but they'll swear it's better and pay full price for it. Apple is genius, really, but not ethical or innovative.

If you ask me all these patent suits just show that apple feels very threatened and instead of competing the good ole fashion way they are playing dirty and being little bit**es.

Apple releases software updates for three-year-old phones and has yet to ship a phone with carrier-mandated apps. They were also the first to make a usable touch-based smartphone, without which Android would be nothing more than a BlackBerry clone (remember me?).
They're alright in my book.

Their updates are so minimal even a 3 year old phone can run them. That's a bad thing. Android updates make major changes. And not only that, many of the older iphones run stripped down versions of ios, like how the 3gs can't have siri.
the earpods took 3 years of r&d.
Android fanbois vs. Apple fanbois... ATTACK!
With Android 4.4 KitKat, Google is aiming to bring a better Android experience to the masses through features such as reduced memory consumption on low-memory (512MB) and low-cost devices, and that has had a lot of people hoping manufacturers will bring the new version of Android to some of their mid-range devices that may not otherwise be eligible for another update. Well, according to an image we received in our inbox, Samsung is thinking of doing just that, and is considering the update for some of its mid-range and low-end devices.
In a document SAMSUNG has decided to release KITKAT 4.4 Update for SAMSUNG GALAXY S ADVANCE in near future.
You can find the name of SAMSUNG GALAXY S ADVANCE in KITKAT UPDATE LIST down below :

Hello. The post you mentioned was opened by me. I reported to delete the post. Just wanted to tell everyone this news. Cheers.
they are only considering it and it will take months to bring it as before this many newer devices are in the queue , and i am pretty sure before that we will have custom roms very much usable based on 4.4 ....
brother,
the source also says that samsung 18 month policy of update n our s advance have already covered 20 months so.....chances are getting lesser day by day....
According to this document, s3 mini, fame and s4 mini will be getting updates too, and s4 mini is a very good candidate
Now our phone was released on 2012, our phone is old in the eyes of Samsung...
Yeah... they stopped making updates for the good old S2! So I highly doubt that our device will get the 4.4 update... but if we do get it then it would be awesome
Sent from my Calculator using XDA Premium
It's simple, some of these phones in that list are novathor based, including our i9070. If they can be bothered to update one device to kitkat, they'll probably do the rest... The other ones are quite diverse. Much more work to do there.
But yes, it's been 20 months since it was announced... it doesn't look good. But who knows, time will tell!
Nice
Yeah ..News is great.. n feel better as owner of S advance......But.... who will gonna use stock rom..... hehe Customs are Best....
Have you read at the top of the paper?
"Under investigation". It may not be official still.
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app
I would use official rom, despite everything I love touchwiz
And if have smart volume (a feature that I would love to test!!) I would go for it
Anyway, i still doubt it, but who knows?? Time will tell...
