Official kitkat for s advnace !!!! - Galaxy S Advance I9070 General

With Android 4.4 KitKat, Google is aiming to bring a better Android experience to the masses through features such as reduced memory consumption on low-memory (512MB) and low-cost devices, and that has had a lot of people hoping manufacturers will bring the new version of Android to some of their mid-range devices that may not otherwise be eligible for another update. Well, according to an image we received in our inbox, Samsung is thinking of doing just that, and is considering the update for some of its mid-range and low-end devices.
In a document SAMSUNG has decided to release KITKAT 4.4 Update for SAMSUNG GALAXY S ADVANCE in near future.
You can find the name of SAMSUNG GALAXY S ADVANCE in KITKAT UPDATE LIST down below :

Hello. The post you mentioned was opened by me. I reported to delete the post. Just wanted to tell everyone this news. Cheers.

they are only considering it and it will take months to bring it as before this many newer devices are in the queue , and i am pretty sure before that we will have custom roms very much usable based on 4.4 ....

brother,
the source also says that samsung 18 month policy of update n our s advance have already covered 20 months so.....chances are getting lesser day by day....

According to this document, s3 mini, fame and s4 mini will be getting updates too, and s4 mini is a very good candidate
Now our phone was released on 2012, our phone is old in the eyes of Samsung...

Yeah... they stopped making updates for the good old S2! So I highly doubt that our device will get the 4.4 update... but if we do get it then it would be awesome

It's simple, some of these phones in that list are novathor based, including our i9070. If they can be bothered to update one device to kitkat, they'll probably do the rest... The other ones are quite diverse. Much more work to do there.
But yes, it's been 20 months since it was announced... it doesn't look good. But who knows, time will tell!

Nice
Yeah ..News is great.. n feel better as owner of S advance......But.... who will gonna use stock rom..... hehe Customs are Best....

Have you read at the top of the paper?
"Under investigation". It may not be official still.
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app

I would use official rom, despite everything I love touchwiz
And if have smart volume (a feature that I would love to test!!) I would go for it
Anyway, i still doubt it, but who knows?? Time will tell...

Oh then den of children on this forum that lurk and seem to pop out at the most odd times.
I spoke with Tmobile tech support, they stated havent been selling many of the WM7 phones.

A Dead Horse Yes but still some info none the Less

I know this has been discussed and talked about in the past but every new bit will hopefully get us closer to a source for more fantastic roms to be made. The article made me laugh with the first line of the article but like i said hopefully there is some truth behind it.

Those Froyo upgrades are coming real soon now, a Samsung exec repeats.
BARCELONA—Samsung's chief strategy officer said Froyo updates for Samsung's Galaxy S phones are "imminent" and explained why the company chose Nvidia to supply a processor for its Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in an interview here at Mobile World Congress.
Samsung has sold more than 10 million Galaxy S smartphones, but most of the ones in the US are still stuck on the older Android 2.1 OS. The 2.2 update is finally really, really close, Khan said.
"Major carrier upgrades are imminent. They're right around the corner," he said.
Samsung has come under a lot of criticism for not delivering the updates, which the company originally promised would arrive in 2010. Future updates will come more promptly, Khan said.
MWC (Mobile World Congress)
"We're competitive and we plan on remaining competitive. We're like to be as quick as possible," he said. "The only way we can prove ourselves is by delivering future upgrades."

Laughing their asses off
We have heard this for how long now? Not flaming the OP, but Samsung that continues to regurgitate the same old line.
So, what part of this "info" is of any use at all? Same crap, same Craptivate.

They have been saying that a FROYO release is really close for almost a year and now 2.4 is to be released by the end of this summer. Do you really think that 2.2 is any closer to being released after another article was put out to the world.
KHHHAAAAANNNNN!!!
I've read this whole article a few times now and it never says the guy's first name, just calls him Khan.
The Epic forum has a thread running wild with sprint official retail screenshots from actual employees saying froyo will be released 2-21-2011.
Damn, it is gone now. Disappeared! I mean deleted not locked.
These threads need to be deleted this is worthless ****

Ain't that pathetic..

a 4" screen, 4G (LTE) data connection and the ability to have 5 icons in a row. Sounds familiar? It took Apple 5 years and their best minds research to make an SGS 4G...
So who needs to sue who now?

That's the thing about Apple. Their most current success is mostly due to marketing, and not their product. You can give Apple consumers a iPhone 4 (or whatever the previous version is), tell them it's an iPhone 5, and they'll believe you. Not only would they believe you, but they'll swear it's better and pay full price for it. Apple is genius, really, but not ethical or innovative.

If you ask me all these patent suits just show that apple feels very threatened and instead of competing the good ole fashion way they are playing dirty and being little bit**es.

Apple releases software updates for three-year-old phones and has yet to ship a phone with carrier-mandated apps. They were also the first to make a usable touch-based smartphone, without which Android would be nothing more than a BlackBerry clone (remember me?).
They're alright in my book.

Their updates are so minimal even a 3 year old phone can run them. That's a bad thing. Android updates make major changes. And not only that, many of the older iphones run stripped down versions of ios, like how the 3gs can't have siri.
the earpods took 3 years of r&d.

No more Samsung. Which manufacturers aren't as slimy as Samsung & Sony about rooting?

No more Samsung. Which manufacturers aren't as slimy as Samsung & Sony about rooting?
Hello all and welcome to my first thread, nice to be part of the community.
Now then I've Rooted my SG4 and flashed various ROMs and had lots of fun doing so.
Unfortunately for me, that device was stolen and I was given a new one.
Upon flashing that device I had realized this one had security I wasnt familiar with, KNOX.
(Not a post asking about the KNOX or Galaxy)
Anyhow upon further research of this unknown function, it is the devils bane to all Samsung rooters.
I find the creation of KNOX enough to encourage me to not purchase another Samsung device.
And now the plot unfolds
Id like a powerful phone that I can root with little consequence (Other than bricking or corrupting my phone)
While rooting voids warranties, at least it was possible to reset the counters in the past. (B.K)
The LG G2/3, Nexus 5 & HTC One seem to be the best devices fitting my criteria.
What phone would you choose for your rooting fun?
I have faith that someone will find a way to work around KNOX. I've been exploring different routes to getting root on my GS4 with 4.4.2. I never would have updated if I would have known. I guess I should have researched Kit Kat a little more.

Well I would stick it out with Samsung, but since it won't end with Knox, I'm jumping ship now.
I'm leaning a lot towards the g3 when it comes out. Same processor as the s5 but better everywhere else.
I just wonder if LG, or HTC have contingencies like Samsung does.
well thats all very sad. Samsung is turning into the new apple, and if LG lags on support, IDK about Sony phones never considered buying one.
That just leaves what HTC and Motorola

If you want something that will remain anti-root security free, and is both powerfull and affordable, as well as has massive official and custom developement support, the Nexus is the obvious choice.

LineageOS 14.1 by AndroidAndi

Hey @Android-Andi
didn't wanted to OT one of your threads but I feel like saying a big fat THANKS for all the work on Android for Espresso/SGT2 and the recent updates, especially since you find time for this old, old Lady again, besides your troubled times...
When there was the last blackout I didn't expected to ever see anything from you (yes, I read your github entries) and I would have completely understood that but it's just a joy to see you working again!
This feels a little like you winning the fight or at least decided to take the fight and give your iron fist to whatever stands in your way (metaphorically) - and that feels good to see, the new builds are just a side effect of you healing!
So that's just a few thoughts from my side...
Yours sincerely
Thanks for your words!
Sometimes you have to accept an challenge, even if it's hard and there's no real end to see. There's more parts which make life not easy atm, but can't say public.
I'll have to trust in myself that things go better in future, at least the financial part is one I could change myself in future (share the apartment with my girlfriend and stepdaughter? or finding a better paid job?). Until that I have to stay strong and enjoy the time of things which still go right.
Some donations made to me for development helped on paying parts of the vet bills, releasing new builds from time to time is a way to say "thanks" back to the community. So yeah, I have to say thanks too and it's one coming directly from my heart!
I've never been the one asking for help in the past, I always have been one of those being glad to help others if I was able to. those changes are hard to accept...
And Shorty says "thanks" too. His blood test results still aren't good, but he's out of a critical part and if it's better on Wednesday we can lower the cortisone in the evening a little bit.

Shorty is a real beauty actually!
Having two cats myself I know the pain when they get sick and need treatment from a Vet, also this moment when the Vet's bill for said treatment arrives... Ahrr
Here's a Pic of my hairy friends from around 2 years ago, didn't manage to get them both on the same picture together again... ever!
Much love Andi!
Keep up the good fight and your great work!
