Has anyone heard when this Rom will approximately be hitting devices.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
It's an operating system not a Rom. It's like ics is a operating system 4.0.3, but I can't wait for it to arrive! All I've heard is it's near .perhaps someone else has more detailed information. Hope this helps.

Prolly a good bit away from that since ICS just hit a bunch of devices
JB is supposed to come the the nexus (whichever itiration is newest) before the end of the year IIRC.
I don't think there's much difference except under the hood and support for more APIs. We've seen a screen shot of it running on the galaxy nexus (Google it, you'll find it on Android blogs) it'll be like froyo to gingerbread. Not much visually but beefed up under the hood.

I read that its suppose to hit devices in Sep,Oct of this year.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
Jelly Bean is likely to be first released on the Nexus tablet within a few months. We'll know for sure in a few days at Google I/O, as many tech websites have been expecting Google to announce this Nexus tablet with JB then. JB will then hit the Galaxy Nexus next, and we could reasonably expect to see JB ROMs for the Sensation before the year's end.

Soooooo, ever since the release of the nexus galaxy sporting the new adroid 4.0, i wondered, will we get the update, and if not, is there a way to replicate the look of the deivice theme wise,i love the way it looks!
HTC has not confirmed nor denied the Inspire will be getting ICS. I'd bet not, and if we do it will take a LONG time, or one of the devs here will port it.
In the mean time, if you head over to the Android Development and Hacking section, and check out the Android Themes sub-forum there are a lot of different launchers and themes with ICS flavoring.

I agree with him on the themes portion. There are MANY themes that are ICS, and many of them work well, and look VERY smooth.
Concerning ICS and the HTC Inspire. Looking at the specifications of the Galaxy Nexus, the Inspire has the internal components that can handle ICS. The processor for the Inspire is faster than the Galaxy, and so on. The only difference between the two is that the Inspire has dedicated soft keys on the home screen, whereas the Galaxy Nexus will have the home screen buttons as part of ICS itself.
Also, after talking to HTC, they're currently looking into how they can roll out ICS updates for as many phones as possible. I also read somewhere that most of, if not all, 2.3 phones WILL receive the update. Until then, continue looking at the forums and wait until a recognized developer ports to Inspire. Hope this helps!

Not sure where you got your information from but this isn't even close to be correct.
But, I'm sure we will see ICS on the Inspire fairly soon after Google releases the source. Whether its from the CM team or a different dev.

I wish all we had to worry abut was when HTC was gonna release it but we have to wait for ATT as it will be them that finally releases an official release for our phones. It may not happen and we will have to use a port from the DHD which only has to wait for the HTC
thank yoiu alll! and i didnt know we could go to the general android theme section and use themes from there lol, i thought we had to use the themes in our designated section only

As of right now, the Inspire is supposed to get ICS, but it is still up for debate. I bet there will be ICS ports though, so we will get it one way or another

I thought HTC denied the Inspire would get ICS
Unless they denied it within the last week, it is still floating in limbo. Some say the HTC Ace and Stallion, which are the code names for DHD and Inspire, should receive ICS

Even if the inspire doesn't get an official update to ICS there will be a custom rom
I don't think there will ever be an official release. We may get a newer gingerbread upgrade since the last on bites, but development for the inspire leaves us with better roms than stock anyway. I bet there will be a better more stable release through xda before ics ever hits officially for the inspire, but I don't think it ever will. I emailed HTC and asked if we would be getting ics or any other upgrades and they said they are working to make the experience better for the inspire but do not have anything in the works currently. This lead me to beleive they are long past worrying about the inspire. We will probably not even get a better gingerbread build imo.
HTC already released the list of devices that are getting ICS, Inspire4g/desire hd not in it.
Sorry.
If it doesn't we will still get it with ports from other devices... and of course cyanogen so no worries man

Yeah i saw it somewhere it wasn't the complete list, but i find it hard to believe an 1 year old phone get the second update of its existence; the phone is technically 1 year old, considering its a variation of the DHD (released in september '10 I believe)

It wont matter really what HTC releases. It will be up to ATT to release a build built for the inspire or the best we can hope for is a port from the DHD. ATT normally has done a One OS update per device and thebinspire got theirs already. Hope I am wrong but history says I am not.

This is ICS behaviour - it replaces the pop up that appeared when you long pressed in a text box component on earlier Android versions that allows you to configure your input method.
If you test and/or use alternative keyboards or other input methods that shortcut is a blessing imo... if you don't need them, it could be annoying but you get used to it almost immediately.

That's the smallest thing htc had to do! A phone that comes out with a certain version of android will always be updated to the next one... The problem is when htc has to update the sensation to jellybean... Imo the sensation won't ever receive an official jellybean update unfortunately

So we're paying for updates now? God forbid we actually enjoy the phone, but screw that noise, can't enjoy a great phone if I know I've only gotten one major OS update.
Get real. Who cares? The phone launched with 2.3, you got an update that bumped it all the way to 4.0.3, I'd say that's plenty.
We will get Jellybean someday...that's why we have XDA!
No seriously but I have to admit, HTC have no quality control. HTC sense looks pretty, but slow as hell, even with tweaks.
Touchwiz 4 is so buttery smooth, even if it isn't as attractive it is efficient and when i payed for this phone back when both came out I expected some decent usability and speed.
Timescape UI is also so refined. My dads Xperia arc runs smoother on a single core on timescale compared to dual core powered sense. This was my first and last HTC device

Yeah the Sensation will never see an official Jelly bean in my opinion. But there really is no doubt that the Sensation will have ROMs with the next I would say two too three Android OS versions. It just has the hardware specs to be a device that will handle future OS updates.

You have a point, but I personally feel like the Sensation has the ability to continue to get every new Android versions like the HD2 does. The development community for this device is pretty outstanding in my opinion.
Oh and remember the Sensation, as well as all Android smartphones, got locked out of Android 3.0 as it was just for tablets. I mean Google did finally drop the source code on it when the released ICS. But with ICS being for both phones and tablets, I do not really see anyone making the effort to get 3.0 running on a phone now.
I don't see fully why not. I know for a fact it will be able to handle it because the desire c or whatever will definitely get it along with the one v and they are single cores. HTC brought ics to the desire s, why not jellybean to the sensation?

This will take a longer time for sure, as HTC is still busy to release ICS
Jellybean dev kits are supposed to be released mid july. At least that's what this source says: http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012/06/27/google-announces-android-41-jelly-bean/
But it may be a while before we get a working ROM.
Given the time it took the CM team to release CM9 RC1, I'd say 6 months!

HTC says they "don't yet have an announcement" for Jelly Bean on existing devices.
... I can't post a link because <10 posts, but there is an article on pocket-lint.com

Now that I'm tempted to buy a media device to have the latest and greatest software, I can see how fragmentation can actually work for Google because now more and more people will look to buy nexus devices.

They look pretty similar, here's the spec sheets for both though if you haven't seen them yet. Looks like your Inspire has more RAM but Nexus has a way bigger hard drive. I've had my NS for a few weeks now and I'm happy with it despite it being two years old. There are some great roms for it too, HTC was a let down for me on the development side. Plus it's just a sexy looking phone I would make the trade if the condition is similar on the two but that's just me, I'll take pure android over Sense any day.
