Soooooo, ever since the release of the nexus galaxy sporting the new adroid 4.0, i wondered, will we get the update, and if not, is there a way to replicate the look of the deivice theme wise,i love the way it looks!
HTC has not confirmed nor denied the Inspire will be getting ICS. I'd bet not, and if we do it will take a LONG time, or one of the devs here will port it.
In the mean time, if you head over to the Android Development and Hacking section, and check out the Android Themes sub-forum there are a lot of different launchers and themes with ICS flavoring.

I agree with him on the themes portion. There are MANY themes that are ICS, and many of them work well, and look VERY smooth.
Concerning ICS and the HTC Inspire. Looking at the specifications of the Galaxy Nexus, the Inspire has the internal components that can handle ICS. The processor for the Inspire is faster than the Galaxy, and so on. The only difference between the two is that the Inspire has dedicated soft keys on the home screen, whereas the Galaxy Nexus will have the home screen buttons as part of ICS itself.
Also, after talking to HTC, they're currently looking into how they can roll out ICS updates for as many phones as possible. I also read somewhere that most of, if not all, 2.3 phones WILL receive the update. Until then, continue looking at the forums and wait until a recognized developer ports to Inspire. Hope this helps!

Not sure where you got your information from but this isn't even close to be correct.
But, I'm sure we will see ICS on the Inspire fairly soon after Google releases the source. Whether its from the CM team or a different dev.

I wish all we had to worry abut was when HTC was gonna release it but we have to wait for ATT as it will be them that finally releases an official release for our phones. It may not happen and we will have to use a port from the DHD which only has to wait for the HTC
thank yoiu alll! and i didnt know we could go to the general android theme section and use themes from there lol, i thought we had to use the themes in our designated section only

Yeah, hopefully this allows for a bug-free Gingerbread/Sense ROM on our mt4g's.
I take away two things from this. First, it shows just how much T-Mobile SUCKS. Why they insist on having a fugly, customized (read bastardized) version of Sense on their HTC phones. Second, why they can't come out with a Gingerbread update in a timely manner is beyond me. The EVO will have Gingerbread in two months, and that phone isn't near as powerful and came out long before the MT4G! Rant over.
This is actually awesome news. This could give us the kernel source we've been waiting for forever, in addition to a ROM that can be directly ported (much like the Desire HD ROMs).

Is te HTC Inspire gettin ICS?
sent from something called...i think its a computer...not sure
As of right now, the Inspire is supposed to get ICS, but it is still up for debate. I bet there will be ICS ports though, so we will get it one way or another
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I thought HTC denied the Inspire would get ICS
Unless they denied it within the last week, it is still floating in limbo. Some say the HTC Ace and Stallion, which are the code names for DHD and Inspire, should receive ICS
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Even if the inspire doesn't get an official update to ICS there will be a custom rom
I don't think there will ever be an official release. We may get a newer gingerbread upgrade since the last on bites, but development for the inspire leaves us with better roms than stock anyway. I bet there will be a better more stable release through xda before ics ever hits officially for the inspire, but I don't think it ever will. I emailed HTC and asked if we would be getting ics or any other upgrades and they said they are working to make the experience better for the inspire but do not have anything in the works currently. This lead me to beleive they are long past worrying about the inspire. We will probably not even get a better gingerbread build imo.
HTC already released the list of devices that are getting ICS, Inspire4g/desire hd not in it.
Sorry.
If it doesn't we will still get it with ports from other devices... and of course cyanogen so no worries man

This is ICS behaviour - it replaces the pop up that appeared when you long pressed in a text box component on earlier Android versions that allows you to configure your input method.
If you test and/or use alternative keyboards or other input methods that shortcut is a blessing imo... if you don't need them, it could be annoying but you get used to it almost immediately.

We will get Jellybean someday...that's why we have XDA!
No seriously but I have to admit, HTC have no quality control. HTC sense looks pretty, but slow as hell, even with tweaks.
Touchwiz 4 is so buttery smooth, even if it isn't as attractive it is efficient and when i payed for this phone back when both came out I expected some decent usability and speed.
Timescape UI is also so refined. My dads Xperia arc runs smoother on a single core on timescale compared to dual core powered sense. This was my first and last HTC device

Yeah the Sensation will never see an official Jelly bean in my opinion. But there really is no doubt that the Sensation will have ROMs with the next I would say two too three Android OS versions. It just has the hardware specs to be a device that will handle future OS updates.

You have a point, but I personally feel like the Sensation has the ability to continue to get every new Android versions like the HD2 does. The development community for this device is pretty outstanding in my opinion.
Oh and remember the Sensation, as well as all Android smartphones, got locked out of Android 3.0 as it was just for tablets. I mean Google did finally drop the source code on it when the released ICS. But with ICS being for both phones and tablets, I do not really see anyone making the effort to get 3.0 running on a phone now.
I don't see fully why not. I know for a fact it will be able to handle it because the desire c or whatever will definitely get it along with the one v and they are single cores. HTC brought ics to the desire s, why not jellybean to the sensation?

This will take a longer time for sure, as HTC is still busy to release ICS
Jellybean dev kits are supposed to be released mid july. At least that's what this source says: http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012/06/27/google-announces-android-41-jelly-bean/
But it may be a while before we get a working ROM.
Given the time it took the CM team to release CM9 RC1, I'd say 6 months!

HTC didn't cancel the Desire update, Canadian carrier Tellus canceled it due to bad performance. Even with Tellus jumping the gun and canceling the update, HTC has said it would move forward with developing updates for all Desire models.
Quite frankly this is a big part of the problem, instead of the carrier pushing HTC to do better and not accepting failure, they decided to screw their customers.

Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
I personally don't think jellybean is going to run worth a crap in this phone. The vsyncing that was thrown in jellybean is resource intensive and I don't think the hardware of the thunderbolt can handle that. Ics will run good I'm sure but jellybean throws a wrench into things because of vsync timers.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Wouldn't devs just be able to disable the VSync feature? I mean, CM has a lot of under-the-hood tweaks. I'm sure with full source they'll be able to port forward the ICS code, worst case. I can't imagine 4.0 to 4.1 as being anything but incremental.
That vsync feature is one of the things that makes jellybean great because the phones that can handle it and can utilize that feature will see great improvements to the smoothness of the ui.

Thanks, that's the funniest thing I've read today... oh, wait, you were serious?
Looks like ICS may NOT come to the T'bolt and, as we all should know by now, if we don't get a T'bolt ICS the devs can't make ROMs for us.

That article adds no new information and is just speculation. Regrettably I tend to agree with what it's saying, but it's not like someone dropped the other shoe. Hopefully we'll at least get a leak with a working ril, even if HTC decides to puss out on us too.

Unless HTC and VZW release ICS for the T'bolt there can't be a leak with a working ril, can there? Any ril that works for the T'bolt would exist ONLY in a T'bolt ICS release unless a dev can build an ril from scratch?

If we get a leak it will have the ril we need and the kernel too.

Agreed but there won't be a leak if HTC and VZW don't create a ROM. The rumored soak test has produced no leak so far, I heard (who knows if it's true or not?) that the NDA had sufficient teeth in it that none of the testers would leak it.... so *IF* the soak test really happened or is happening then we can believe in one hell of an NDA because there is no leak AFAIK.
FWIW, I really don't care much, HTC's website says IF the T'bolt gets ICS it'll have Sense 3.6 and will NOT get sense 4.x because of performance issues and that makes me think two things:
1. The T'bolt really doesn't have the horsepower to run ICS with Sense 4.x and so
2. We're better off with a good ROM and Gingerbread than we will be with ICS.
However, I can upgrade in... well, never. So.... I'll keep running my current ROM(s) and see what happens and what shows up on Ebay!
If Desire HD can't handle ICS, what's with the Desire C??
Well,.....I call BS on the Desire HD or the Thunderbolt not being able to handle ICS or Sense 4.0.
It's clearly a marketing strategy to sell new devices and nothing more.
If it were true that the Desire HD could not run ICS and Sense 4.0 acceptably, then why in God's name would HTC be releasing the Desire C?
Has anyone checked out the specs on that ICS Sense 4.0 device?
CHECK IT OUT
So yeah, I call BS!!!!
That desire c is really low end hardware but yet can run the newest software. Definitely a marketing strategy on htc's part by not giving us the best software. Our phones are more than capable of running it. Another example is the one v. Same specs as ours
