Is there a kernel that works preferably one with OC/UV, that works with a completely stock phone, its rooted but i like the feel of stock so i havent flashed any roms yet.
By stock, do you mean stock Gingerbread? If so, I'd suggest Zen Arcade's Infusion-Z:

SGS Kernel Flasher from the Play Store is an easy way to flash the zImage on the phone.

I want to root and overclock my ns4g but I don't want a ROM is this possible? I'm running 2.3.5 and I just came from a epic 4g, what is the safest kernel and speed? Thank you.
What do you mean you don't want a ROM?
You are running a stock ROM lol. However, you can continue to run it and flash kernels without using a custom ROM

you dont need setcpu to run some kernels on stock rooted
Yeah I meant non custom, ok just wanted to make sure because on my old epic you had to be careful about what kernel you used some for ext4 and some rfs, anyone recommend a fast kernel for a stock ROM?

I think you need to grab an OC kernal, and there is an app you can use for your processor. I think in development if you look at a sticky it tells you everything.
Just download and flash a custom kern that's OC'able and then install an app (I use setCPU) to over clock to your desired clock speed.

I've download a couple of kernels like teuv, matrix, and air kernel. But I keep switching between them because I feel as if none of them are working....can someone suggest good solution?

If your phone is like mine, you might want to make sure that the kernel you use is set for default voltages. Matr1x in particular won't run correctly unless I reset the voltages.
Eat at Joe's

+1 on mathkid's suggestion. You're phone might be a stock-lover.
I attached the stock ICS kernel here, or you can check out the stockish kernels such as (click for download sites/link):
_thalamus
SimpleKernel
Franco's
Hope this helps!
I don't like the stock kernel either.

trinity t132.. cant go wrong with that one http://goo.gl/q3CnT
well, unless your phone cant handle it. its great at 1.32ghz, and its great running at 1ghz.
Thanks for your suggestions!!! I think I'll try the stock kernels and see how it goes

My phone only likes stock/simple, thalamus, and Pete's kernel. Every other one always gives me issues after a few days. Just stick with stock or modified stock, like thalamus as stated in another post.
Have you tried SimpleKernel by terryhau? Its the stock kernel with Voodoo and BLN added. Seems like a great solution for you.

Hi my skyrocket is currently running 4.0.3 ics leaked rom, and I was wondering if i could flash custom kernel on ics rom, or would I have to stock gingerbread to use custom kernel. I just do not want to get bricked etc. Thank you.
It depends on the ROM, if it's SKY ICS or some other modded Samsung rom, then you pretty much have to stick with stock, or do some research because I don't really know what Kernels are available for it. Maybe someone with more knowledge will chime in...
If it's AOSP based (CM9, AOKP, Chimaira, etc), then the only other option I know of is InstigatorX's kernel, which seems to work quite well. Pick a stable version, since the latest has issues with the camera. The stock kernel for CM9 is also quite good, but the CPU governors added in Instigators are great for saving battery.

You can flash cymbaline. Don't try to flash instigator's cm9 kernal you aren't using an aosp rom. Cymbaline fits your deal nicely. You'll dig it.

I also use this kernel and in conjunction with System Tuner for OC/UV.
Can I flash the Infusion Kernel 1.8 onto Emancipation A: 1? For all intensive purposes I'm asking if the kernel can be flashed onto any rom.
I don't want to ask a stupid or noob question but, I haven't been able to find my answer anywhere. When I first started the rooting/flashing a rom process I was gonna go with Zeus Z-TR which I believe has voltage control built into it. After a bit of reading I settled on Emancipation but, I still wanna be able 2 OC/UV.
Also, I'm wondering about the beats audio that is built into the Z-TR rom. Is that because it comes with 1.8 kernel?
So, if someone can answer that question I would really appreciate it a lot.
I'd just flash the new synthesis kernel and as long as you're on gingerbread, you can flash another GB kernel you wish

I'm thinking Infusion is Froyo and Emancipation is GB. If those facts are correct, then NO, you can not

Thanks for the answers. After looking into it some more its safe to say I'm stuck without OC/UV since its GB.
If youre on gb, flash the synthesis kernel. Its oc/uv with working mhl on gb.

I'll not familiar with synthesis.....must be new within the last year.
There are several kennels named infusion. The one you (op) mentioned was Froyo.
But developer/member Zen has two GB kernels named Infusion that allow overclock...Zen's Infusion A and Zen's Infusion B. 1600 for A and 1400 for B
