[Q]softkeys not working/auto brightness not working/ proximity sensor not working - HTC Inspire 4G

hi
a while back , i read a guide in how to mod H+ to roms , i did it work . i was happy
then i decide to think and change another images that look pale in sense and add some color to the rom . i put all the imgs from other roms that i like in there . they worked too, everything was fine.
then i put the images in the rctweaks.zip i had to flash and kept them . ever since then , the soft keys dont turn on . when they dont turn , the proximity/ auto brightness dont work .
after trying attemps and changing the settings in rc tweaks . i changed roms the keys don't light up anymore
that i rememeber i haven't let the phone drop
if anybody can help thanks . is there anything i can do short of returning the phone to stock , and re- running the ace hack kit again to gain s-off and root

First off what rom are you running?
Have you tried a complete wipe of phone when flashing a rom. Or even get the pd98 zip and flash back to rooted stock rom and see if that changes all your experimenting back to default. Always create a back up before you make any changes it would save you this headache.

This is the stock rooted gingerbread rom. If you want to flash it it will bring your phone back to factory setting without losing root. Just place in root of sd then power up into hboot holding power button and volume down at same time and let it do its thing. When ask volume up for yes then reboot when told to. Then flash whichever rom you want. Try using uot kitchen if you want to alter the look of a rom its usually safer. Hope it helps

That's a bit more of a process on the droid 2 than your average htc phone.
There are detailed instructions on flashing back to stock in the d2 general forum.

Any one have the Stock Kernel ODIN or zip

Could you post it somewhere? I've been looking for the same thing to no avail. I am about to root but I want to make sure I can unroot if necessary for an update.
I plan on applying the novoodoo Peanutbutta Jelly Time 0602 kernel after CMR. I would just go nuts(voodoo fix, check out some roms) if CMR had backup/restore working, but I'll settle for just root for the moment.

So i rooted my g2x and factory reset the stock rom, i backed it up into my sd card with cwm, and then i flashed a different rom. So after doing that i ended up running into someone who wanted to buy my phone so i restored my back up and it was successful.....until it rebooted...the lg icon pops at the beginning the screen then the screen goes black and it flashes on and off and on and off.....n i cant do anything..and when i try holding the volume down and lock screen button, all it does is show the little android dude and the download bar but it goes back to the same flashing screen.....someone please help i really am trying to get the phone working and this problem isn't helping...so any suggestions...?
Check the rom for recovery in development section, it will low level nvflash stock ota 2.3.3 gb rom on your g2x. Make sure you install apx drivers and you hold the buttons the whole time its flashing.

So install the other ROM first and then install R1 without whiping data or erasing cache....?
His post doesn't quite make sense, he must be thinking you're trying to run New Clip, not Weapon 3.0_R1. Of course, if you are trying to run New Clip then, yes, flash Weapon 3.0_R1 THEN flash New Clip.

Pretty sure you're right. When I ran 1.84 stock, even rooted, debloated with CWR, no message. Once I installed a ROM with modified kernel, it appeared.
This has been covered many times, just search. If everything is stock (ROM, recovery, etc) then you will not get it. Stock kernel + TWRP recovery means when you boot into recovery you will get it because it is not stock. Get it?
Sorry I forgot to mention it's not just happening when boot into recovery, it happens everytime I turn the phone on normally

Are you sure?
I think it's only due to the kernel because i had trickdroid with stock kernel and it didn't show the message, when i changed the kernel (not the rom) the message appeared.
I may be wrong of course

No, you're right. torxx is using the stock kernel on TrickDroid 7.0 and 7.1. As long as htc won't publish the sources for its Android 4.04 kernel, there will be no alternative kernels. So besides booting into recovery there won't be any messages using the stock kernel.

@others who posted - correct. Torxx uses the stock kernel. Stock kernel means no message TWRP recovery means message because it isn't stock.

Check your kernel version. If it's the same, there is possibly not much you can do about.
Most recent update of my issue
I have flashed the newest ruu (3 uk) downloaded from the ruu collection post and got rid of the message. I also rooted and installed custom recovery on my phone and the message still did not appear
I attached a screen shot of my software info
Btw I tried to flash trick droid 7.1 (without flashing the boot.img)after done this, the message did not appear however my phone is stuck with a boot loop just after the boot sound (and no boot animation). The last time I installed trickdroid I flashed boot.img and everything went fine however I got the development only message, so I suppose the issue is with the the kernel in the boot.IMG I flashed last te when I installed trickdroid
If trick droid is based on stock kernel how come I can't get it to work on my stock phone? (rooted and custom recovery installed)

It's based off the 2.21 Euro release. If you installed any other RUU, you need to flash the boot.img either via fastboot or TWRP. This may result in the development message again (not sure what ROM gave me the message, but it was still there on TD 7.1)
I have the same kernel version as in the image rootrider posted in post #13, but I always have the red text on every boot.
What may make the difference, is whether the boot image is signed. The boot image from a RUU is signed. I bet the boot image from torxx is not.

If that's correct you're in the right forum!
Check out the link that warren sent to you so that you can get the phone onto Gingerbread bootloaders, which you'll need to flash any Gingerbread and more recent ROM (GB, ICS, JB). Make sure you also check out the wiki for a lot of our guides.

Thanks guys, upgrade to GB 2.3.6 and rooted. Quick question Rom manager don't have cmw recovery for this phone, which recovery does this phone use and how do you boot into bootloader/recovery manually on Galaxy S 4G?
Sorry this is my first using Samsung phone.

I think you should keep away from Rom manager as it is not compatible on our phone, here check this out.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S/SGH-T959V/Flashing_a_kernel .flash the gingerbread kernel and you are good.. and this also it may help you with some trouble ahead... http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S/SGH-T959V .once you have custom kernel you can check some custom GB roms and ICS. head over to development section and you
can choose what you think it's best..

Depending on the kernel the recovery will either be CWM or TWRP. The easiest way to reboot recovery, if your on a ROM that doesn't support it from the power menu, is to download Quickboot from market. The other way is to power phone down then hold both volume rockers then press and holder power. Once the splash screen changes or gets brighter let go of power only. Either way works. For your own good delete the ROM manager app now.

An extra bit of helpful information - if you decide you want to restore your back up that you made, do from from the kernel/recovery you made the back up with.
You can always use the one click back to stock in lumins sig if u fork it up
