[Q] ICS ROM on GIO fails to start - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I have a Samsung GIO S5660 (no carrier, no lock or branding or something, originally GB 2.3.4, stockware updated to 2.3.6), rooted and installed Clockworkmod Recovery (5.0.2.6) and followed the instruction to the letter when I tried to install an ICS ROM: this one here.
I tried others too. But unfortunately the result is the same everytime. Installation successfully completes, wipe data / factory reset (tried that several times before and after installing). And when rebooting, the SamsungMobile logo is shown, the screen flashes white for a split second and goes dark but is obviously still powered up (glows a little). And then nothing happens. I have to remove the battery to bring it back to life then, which right now is of course nothing more then another reboot into recovery.
Any ideas? Am I using the wrong ROM versions? It says something about format failed when doing the wipe because of missing ext4 access ... ?! Do I have to use a different CWM Recovery? But I do use the one mentioned and linked to in the tutorial ...
Regards,
Mac

Uhm, I just had to wait a little longer for the ROM to start up. Sorry, ROM works alright.

[Q] Help my SGS went wrong, probably dead

Hi, i have a SGS (originally) GT-I9000T but then i updated to Froyo 2.2.1 with XXJPY and now is GT-I9000.
Everything was working normally, then i install Darky's rom and working fine, but today i was about to upgrade to Darky's 9.0.2, but i though that was a good idea to clean all the installs and updates i've installed.
What i did was to format the internal SD from the phone options what i've read about this option it's that it will erase all my media content and data from my internal sd, so i did it, then i went to recovery mode and i did a Wipe data/factory reset and i clear the cache, so reboot the phone and at that point was everything OK, but when the phone was booting i realized that the Voodoo LagFix enables itself at that time the phone was working fine but without of personal data, so i turned off again and went to "download mode" because i though i will need again the CF-Root (BusyBox), so i flashed with Odin and when the phone restarted it won't boot normally it was locked on the SAMSUNG screen, i did try to take the battery out and restart several times, but nothing happened.
At that point i remember that the lagfix was enabled i though the LagFix create a conflict with it, or i don't know why, so the story doesn't stop there, in my desperation i try to go back to my original rom, so what i did was to download the Telstra FW for GT-I9000T model (850 band) so then i was to be able to update my original rom, so i flashed with Odin, when the phone boot the model number was GT-I9000T again, and go through the Samsung logo, play's the music and it show the Telstra logo, but suddenly turns in to black screen and don't load the OS.
I will appreciate it if anyone can help me.
UPDATE: I just fix the problem, how i did it: i just flash the Froyo 2.2.1 with XXJPY again and when the phone boot for first time it wont load, so on the RECOVERY mode i selected the format SD, factory reset and that it, reboot and works 100%
Many tanks for the attention.

I finally made it, Soft-Brick in another Way... -.-

Yeah, i finally made it. I bought a TMO-DE One S (With S4 Processor) 5 Days ago, unlocked the Bootloader (HBoot 1.09), rooted and SuperCID´d it, installed CWM Touch and installed TrickDriod V8.0 incl. its Tweak Package. After that i installed another Radio and everything was fine. It could have been SO easy, but i just HAD to do more, and now its soft-bricked.
At all TrickDroid is a really good ROM, but i hated the thingy that it shows G symbol instead of H when getting HSPA speeds. So i decided to dump it and go for a 4.0.4 / Sense 4.1 Stock Rom without branding instead until a JB / Sense Rom comes out. And thats were the trouble started. i flashed the stock rom with CWM, installed the boot.img that came shipped with it and booted it up. I did a full wipe before flashing. It booted up, Sense Stock Background Image came on and it showed "Unfortunately Wiper App is closed" at the "Preparing phone storage" stage. After OK´ing that another Screen came up about some system service wouldnt respond (dont know the exact Text anymore) wich i could close or wait for it. No matter what i do, or if i do nothing, after ~20 seconds the phone crashes and restarts. After the first restart the phone only boots into a black screen but with the Android bar at the top is working with time, battery-charging and a warning smybol. But the Phone wont react to anything i do except for lockscreen button. When its "online" i can push files via adb to the internal SDCard so i thought it wouldnt be a big problem. i pushed ONE MaximuS V2.5 ROM to the SD Card, booted into CWM and installed it. then flashed the boot.img of it via fastboot and booted it up. but nothing happens. still black screen with bar on top and not reacting phone that reboots every 20 seconds. i allready tried full wipe, cache wipe, dalvik cache wipe and i dont really know what to do now.
A broken SD Partion cant be since i can push files via ADB to it and install them with CWM. But whatever i try to install every ROM boots only in this blackscreen. its clearly not hanging in bootloader, but in android itself. I dont really know what to do, and returning to my dealer is no option since Rooting, SuperCID´ing and flashing another ROM. You maybe have a Idea what to do now?
Peace
TK
PS: Sorry for my bad english, hope you can understand it
Edit: Okey, i got something. i formatted everything i could in CWM, and now (as its now supposed) it hangs in bootloader since no system is there for booting. The good thing is in CWM i get ADB Connection so i can still push files to the SDCard. Im now trying installing a ROM again. So at least i have a starting Point if it fails again
Edit 2: Okey, found it. The "Stock" ROM is broken, not my Phones Fault. and MaximuS just doesnt install right so nothing was changed. Installed TrickDroid again for testing and everything is fine again. Close this one...

Stuck in a loop, need help

Hi all
I’m a complete noob at this and it seems like I have got myself into a bit of a pickle. Sorry for the massive description but I thought it would make it easier to get a good answer.
My Phone:
Samsung Galaxy S4 GT 19505 LTE
PDA I9505XXUEMK8
CSC I9505BTUEMK5
MODEM I9505XXUEMK8
I successfully rooted my phone using Odin. In Odin I added the "CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.tar.md5" file to the PDA field then rebooted the device. Then I added the "openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.1-jfltexx" file to the PDA field, rebooted the device and the phone automatically opened in TWRP recovery. In recovery mode I wiped the cache, system and dalvik cache. I then went to install, browsed to the "I9505 Official_Google_Edition_4.3_by_Jamal2367_Finaly_v2.0" file on my SD card, rebooted the device and the Google logo came up on the screen for a few minutes and all was good. Got my new ROM, ran a root checker and all was good.
After some research I decided I wanted to use the Pacman ROM as it seemed to a lot more customisable. Using the same method I went to TWRP recovery wiped the cache, system, and dalvik cache. I then went to Install, browsed for the pacman ROM and the Gapps file on my SD card and everything installed ok, the phone restarted and the pacman logo came up everything was fine. Although I did notice on start up that I got this message.(and have had this error message ever since)
kernel is not seandriod enforcing
set warranty bit : kernel
After using the Pacman ROM for a day I noticed a lot of bugs like my apps would disappear, I couldn't use my banking apps and my phone was generally performing very badly. So I decided to remove the ROM and use CyanogenMod ROM under the recommendation of a friend. So again I pressed home+power+vol up to enter recovery mode but this time it didn’t enter the TWRP recovery it entered the stock recovery mode. This was slightly concerning but I proceeded to use the list menu and cleared the cache etc, browsed the SD card and went to the CyanogenMod 10.2 ROM I previously downloaded. It began to install but in red I got the error message stating that I didn’t have the right permission or signature. The phone rebooted back to the Pacman ROM. I tried the above three times and it still continued to boot back into Pacman ROM sometimes I struggled to even get back into recovery mode.
Soooooo I decided to try and go back to the Google Edition 4.3 ROM and play it safe, using the method from my first paragraph. But when it installed through TWRP I got an error message saying cant find MD5 file. The device rebooted and the Google edition logo came up on the screen but it seems to be locked in a loop. The Google logo wont go away and the phone vibrates once then three times quickly every 10 seconds.
I can still enter both TWRP recover and Download Mode. But I don’t want to mess around with it anymore without getting some advice. Any help would be much appreciated as I really need my phone working.
Thanks again
Aiden
Did you create a backup while on your first run with google edition? If so wipe cache, system, and dalvik and restore to your backup. Should put you back to where you began.

I know I should, but I didnt. Is it still fixable ?
*Update*
Couldnt help myself had to have a tinker around. Managed to get Cyanogenmod 10 working with Gapps. Gonna see how I get on with this. Although still would like to know I have been having all these problems.
Sometimes things just dont go as planned: p I have easily soft bricked my phone around 10 times and always able to fix it. You really should have made a stock backup before flashing anything. I recommend doing it now so you at least have a known working configuation backed up for future use. Trust me backups are your friends!

Thanks for your replies.
Ye gonna that right now Cyan Mod so far is running very smooth without any problems.

[Q] Badadroid on Samsung Wave GT-S8500 not working

Hi there,
since I am not (yet) allowed to directly post into the developer fora I'll try my luck with this one here.
My first attempt was the installation from here. Everything worked fine but I got stuck within the cyanomod boot screen - nothing helped: No wiping with factory reset + wiping cache nor flashing twice afterwards. Also none of the tips mentioned elsewhere did work out.
Then I tried the files and installation from here. I strictly used the files for Badadroid (not the NAND-Version) but Badadroid got stuck within the XDA boot screen. After nearly 10 minutes of waiting I rebooted into recovery mode where I was presented with lots of error messages of missing files and mounts (I can retry and provide all of them). Installing the zip failed afterwards.
Now I tried boot files and FOTA from first attempt with zImage and zip of 2nd one. After flashing red output showed loadfile ERR (not found) and system did not even boot into XDA boot screen of Badadroid.
I always chose LSI + BOOT checked + Full Download checked and flashed both in combination.
Now even Bada 2.0 does not boot anymore and my Wave gets stuck in a reboot loop. After Wave startup screen only a scrambled screen is shown where nothing can be recognized! Will try to flash latest Bada Version on Phone again (while I do not know how to get the file on the phone!)!
Does anybody have a helpful hint on how to flash which combination of files in order to get a working Badadroid version with latest possible Android version?
Many thanks in advance!
Bye
Solved
Ok, finally got it to work. After reflashing a new Bada onto my no more working phone I downloaded and reinstalled everything from CM11 again.
Now Wave boots fine into both OS versions. Unfortunately CM11 seems to be little bit unstable since it often crashes for example when using the browser.
But so far it is really impressive and exciting! Thanks to all involved for that great work! Really awsome!

Problem with BlissPop: Stuck at "BlissPop is starting..."

Hello to everyone, posting this here as I don't have access to ask in the forum post for BlissPop - I.E fresh user
I'm having issues with my "recalled" shield tablet (wifi), I had it flashed to BlissPop successfully previously but when I tried reflashing it the other day I was met with a major roadbump: It just won't load the ROM.
The tablet freezes at the screen following the installing and optimization of each application - basically my screen is stuck at a small wall of text saying the following:
"BlissPop is starting...
Powered by Team Bliss
Starting apps.
Please wait for the optimization process to finish."
And before you ask, yes I have waited long enough (left it on through the night just to be sure - this thing won't load).
My procedure is as follows.
Bootloader is CWM and it is rooted beforehand.
1st off going into recovery mode.
#2 Wipe data/cache/dalvik cache - done
#3 Installed BlissPop via sideload, then gapps_pico afterwards (I've tried wiping cache+dalvik before installing gapps to no help.)
#4 Rebooting from CWM, here I've tried both allowing and denying CWM to "fix" root settings.
I've tried the first ROM I installed (when wifi/lte versions were available) and the newer releases - same problem with both.
After this I am met with this screen that won't budge, anyone got a possible solution to this issue?
Hey I just received my replacement tablet and was going through this process too. I did some digging around and found / remembered that having an external SD card socketed can cause this problem. So I powered my device off, removed the card and then rebooted without major issue.
Hope this helps.
I don't have any SD card in my tablet though, thanks anyways.
Did you format system?
If not then do format system/data/cache

Tried doing a format of system as well as data/cache/dalvik, still getting same result :/
Not sure its still helpful or not...i saw the xda thread regarding to this thread and whoever tried to flash the last zip got stuck at boot. So I'm guessing if you will flash a different one (by this time maybe they upload a new one) maybe you could get rid of it..

When I switched to BlissPop I had to format /data because TWRP was unable to wipe it. TWRP offers that option unter "advanced wipe". Might be the same with CWM.
any help my phone stuck on this boot loop and i dont know what to do now , any fix ? i dont wanna have broken phone i did everything that u guys said nothing works
