[Q] Help my SGS went wrong, probably dead - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hi, i have a SGS (originally) GT-I9000T but then i updated to Froyo 2.2.1 with XXJPY and now is GT-I9000.
Everything was working normally, then i install Darky's rom and working fine, but today i was about to upgrade to Darky's 9.0.2, but i though that was a good idea to clean all the installs and updates i've installed.
What i did was to format the internal SD from the phone options what i've read about this option it's that it will erase all my media content and data from my internal sd, so i did it, then i went to recovery mode and i did a Wipe data/factory reset and i clear the cache, so reboot the phone and at that point was everything OK, but when the phone was booting i realized that the Voodoo LagFix enables itself at that time the phone was working fine but without of personal data, so i turned off again and went to "download mode" because i though i will need again the CF-Root (BusyBox), so i flashed with Odin and when the phone restarted it won't boot normally it was locked on the SAMSUNG screen, i did try to take the battery out and restart several times, but nothing happened.
At that point i remember that the lagfix was enabled i though the LagFix create a conflict with it, or i don't know why, so the story doesn't stop there, in my desperation i try to go back to my original rom, so what i did was to download the Telstra FW for GT-I9000T model (850 band) so then i was to be able to update my original rom, so i flashed with Odin, when the phone boot the model number was GT-I9000T again, and go through the Samsung logo, play's the music and it show the Telstra logo, but suddenly turns in to black screen and don't load the OS.
I will appreciate it if anyone can help me.
UPDATE: I just fix the problem, how i did it: i just flash the Froyo 2.2.1 with XXJPY again and when the phone boot for first time it wont load, so on the RECOVERY mode i selected the format SD, factory reset and that it, reboot and works 100%
Many tanks for the attention.

***Soft Bricked Samsung Galaxy S i9000 Please Help***

Hi,
My phone's a Samsung Galaxy S i9000M bough from Bell running Eclair 2.1 and here's how I managed to soft brick it, step by step:
1. Downloaded Galaxy S Tweaker app from Market, installed on phone, used the root option and rooted phone, installed Voodoo lagfix beta 4, also an option on the app. This is where I should have stopped, as everything was working great .
2. Downloaded SGS kernel flasher app from the Market, and backed up Voodoo lagfix beta 4 to sd card.
3. Downloaded Voodoo Control App from the Market, selected option to download kernel. Browser opened, downloaded kernel. Went ahead with installation, robot voice lady came from speaker announcing the steps. A few minutes in, robot lady says: "Not enough space left on partition". Went back and deleted cache, same error message.
4. At this point I went to recovery screen using the 3 button combo. There was an option to back everything up. This took some time but it completed successfully.
5. Back to recovery screen, selected option to boot .zip from card. Found the original .zip I had backed up with SGS kernel flasher and selected it. This was the same kernel I had installed with Galaxy S Tweeker, namely the Voodoo lagfix beta 4. Nothing happened. Tried update.zip, that didn't work either.
Since this happened, I downloaded a number of kernels (Voodoo-lagfix-3.0-GT-I9000-odin-pda, Voodoo-lagfix-3.0-SGH-T959-odin-pda and Voodoo-stable-5.4.1-Froyo-2.2.1-GT-I9000-odin-pda).
Installed them one by one by putting phone in Download mode and using Odin but despite no errors, I'm stuck at the Galaxy S GT-I9000 screen.
Actually one of these kernels sends the phone in a rebooting loop and then the robot lady comes back with "not enough space on partition".
Is there a correct kernel that I can install to get things back to normal? I really don't want to wipe all data on phone. Thank you all in advance!
*A few hours later and now the phone keeps re-booting itself to the Galaxy S screen, voice says "convert data partition/not enough space on partition" then reboot, over and over again. Is there a way to free up partition through Odin? I've already tried deleting cache memory.
**I can access ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.1.3, through there I can partition the SD card to 128M, 256M, 515M, 1024M, 2048M, 4096M. Would doing any of this give me enough space on partition to install the right kernel?
Search some information about flashing a i9000m with odin. Its different than flashing a i9000. Then try to flash it with odin. I had a some what same problem yesterday with my i9000 and i didnt find another solution.
So im afraid you cant get it working without a wipe. When it boots again look in the clockworkmod map on the sd card. I had like 2gb of backups there from previous flashing attemts.
Oh btw maybe you would be more succesfull with your question in the galaxy q&a sub forum

[Q] Phone issues after flashing Gapps.zip

My friend has a Captivate. He lost all his google apps, android market, gmail, etc. He flashed gapps.zip from his recovery and now his phone is not working right. When he flashed a new rom to his phone, and it brought up the welcome screen it shows it for about 2 seconds and then reboots. He is also almost unable to access the recovery becuase of this, but even when he finally was able to access it and wipe everything, dalvik, cache, data/system, it still has issues. Nothing is fixing the issues from the gapps.zip. He was wondering if there is a way to wipe his entire phone from a update.zip file. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Please note that even when he wipes everything in recovery and flashes a new ROM, it still reboot on the welcome screen and he is unable to resolve this issue.
Ok, so he has now wiped all cache and system files, now instead of showing teh galaxy S logo with the cyanogen logo underneath, it shows just the AT&T screen, but it will not go any furhter, it just sits there. He says that because he is now unable toget into android he cannot access the recovery and the volume up/down is not responding. Is his phone Bricked?
Have you used Odin 1-click to revert back to stock?
had my friend use the Odin 1 click and he said it still did not work. He cannot get the volume up/down trick to work, when before all this it worked just fine. I am going to guess that the only thing he could try is the jig method. He swaers that Odin3 is not doing anything

Infuse stuck in boot logo loop

My infuse is rooted with zues. A few weeks ago, it was stuck on the samsung boot logo and it keeps looping. I wiped data and cache and installed zues again and it was fixed. Last night, this happened... so my phone turns on for 2 minutes max, then turns off and starts the loop. I can only keep on for 2 minutes before it starts looping again. by saying keeping it on for 2 minutes, i mean everything works! talk, text, games, ect...
so i turned it off, went to clockwork or root menu, whatever you guys call it, and i wiped data and cache. Whats weird is that even on boot menu or clockwork, it still wont stay on, it keeps turning off and turns on and loops!
i installed zues again, still turns off and loops
next step? is my phone dead?
Did you have any undervolt settings applied?
The phone is not underclocked, it is not overclocked. It was rooted, I unrooted it. its currently unrooted absolutely factory stock and still doing that. What can I do to fix this?
warranty is over as of 3 months ago
Forgot to mention the most important thing!!!
When I am on the phone with someone, it works perfectly forever, as soon as i hang up, it ends the call. this key thing might help someone find the solution!!

Click to collapse
Don't panic just yet... I doubt your phone is dead.
You say you've "wiped data and cache". Are you also making sure to wipe /system and Dalvik Cache?
Try flashing Zeus again.
Boot to CWM, Wipe EVERYTHING (/data, /cache, /system, Dalvik Cache). (Alternatively, get "Clean Wipe" from Qkster's Scripts and flash with CWM to easily wipe everything.)
Flash Zeus and go.
If you're still having problems, perhaps try a different rom?
okay, I read everything you guys wrote.. This is where I am, I am open to suggestions
I am on the stock rom and unrooted. Phone still boot loops. What should I do now? Step by step instructions would be great. Im unrooted, so should i root again? even though im having this problem?
bump! really need help with this guys!
Have you tried going back to stock?
If it keeps looping while on download mode then I would say you are dealing with a hardware issue.

It just came to me that it doesn't loop in download mode. It does loop in clockwork, I flashed the stock kernel using ODIN and went completely stock through ODIN.
How do i fix this? i'm pissed that i had it for a year and three months and right after the warranty ended, the phone stopped working! Samsung never again unless this issue is fixed
I'm a newbie to flashing, so take it with a grain of salt. At least two more things seem worth trying to me:
1 - Try factory data reset (assuming you already tried the wipe Davlick and wipe cache). I'm not positive what this does, but I think you may lose some of your data if it's not backed up.
2 - If that doesn't work, try qkster's Heimdall UCLB3 stock (since you can get into download mode...shouldn't be a problem). This is complete back to stock so should be able to clear any software problem I'd think. I know you may think it's redundant since you are already back to stock, but worth trying imo since some things just take more than one try, and you may have had a bad flash the first time around.
Why zeus? try latest ones with jelly bean
Hey,
Try other roms based out of jelly bean. They are pretty stable. CM10 with 09/14 build is the latest
Here are the standard steps if you have CWM enabled.
1. Factory re-set (only when switching between different roms).
2. Cache partition wipe
3. Dalvik Cache wipe
4. Install the zip file
5. Re-start and wait until it re-starts. Initially it will take some time.
I have tried various roms and versions as well. Best would be the CM10 Jelly bean.
Thanks Kran.

[Q] Factory Reset Did Not Wipe Anyhing

I'm trying to remove apps that's on this phone (GT-S7500) because some of the apps always force close and not working. Firstly, I tried uninstall the apps one by one, all went good until I rebooted the device, all of the apps are back again. Second, went to privacy>erase everything including SD card content, device rebooted and went straight to recovery. It was weird because normally it will reboot itself straight to home screen. So I select the option factory reset/wipe data, after that wipe cache partition and reboot. Device does not reboot but turned off completely (weird again) Turned it back on, and only saw that none of the apps were removed. Even the wallpaper are still the same. Next thing I do is manually boot into recovery menu and factory reset again, still the same thing, (device turned off without rebooting itself, turned it back on and everything was still the same) after few tries again, I finally decided to flash a stock rom with ODIN. Flashing was successful ODIN shows PASS, waiting device reboot but it shut off completely again. turned it back on, but nothing changes. wallpaper are still the same and every single downloaded apps were still there. Went to settings> about device only to found that it wasn't the same rom that I've flashed earlier using ODIN.(flashed 2-3 times again, results still the same) Very confused right now, suspected that the internal SD card was corrupted/damaged. Does anyone experiencing such thing on your galaxy ace plus? searched on xda forums and found that this issue was also happening on few other devices. This is not my phone, just helping a customer. Thank You.
After flashing stock rom
Go to recovery (stock of course)
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Reboot

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is not booting even after a factory reset

My Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is not booting even after a factory reset
A mobile app. for Android was installed successfully and since then I’m only having issues with my Samsung mobile:
- Since the installation of both the Hockey & Mobile Banking apps, my mobile freezes during any regular action and after a few seconds the device auto-restarts itself intermittently; this happened during the weekend while in use;
- Sunday night I uninstalled both the Hockey & Mobile Banking apps and the phone continued to freeze and restart intermittently. I was able to boot in SAFE MODE.
- This morning after the phone was turned off and turned on, the phone is not loading; the boot is looping and unable to reach the menu. I’m able to boot in SAFE MODE.
- This morning I did a Factory Reset, when done I get the “welcome” screen and right thereafter, the mobile freezes, auto-restarts and the boot keep looping.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Hey guys, any suggestions...? I tried last night restoring the OS using Samsung Smart Switch application and the process went just fine the first time and during the setup process the phone just restarted against and for stuck in bootloop again.
I did a second attempt but after the PC is don and the phone boots it gets stuck.
Sometimes after restoring stock firmware and you get a bootloop, you have to boot to stock recovery and factory reset then wipe cache partition.
I know you said you did that once before you posted, you did that before you used SmartSwitch. Have you tried factory reset since restoring with SmartSwitch?
Yes, I did with SS last night; I did it again this morning and after completing the 100% software download, it started updating the device and at 97% it stopped and got the message "FAILED".
now as we speak, I restarted it again and now it's at 66^ downloading the files.
How can I perform a clean install using SS...? or do I need ODIN...? I want to keep the mobile as original as possible.
If you can find your stock firmware, download it and flash it with Odin, it's more reliable.
Maybe a stupid question: Where can I find my stock firmware...?
My info:
PDAIX / CSCI2 / PHONE: PHH (XFA)
I found the Firmware on SAMMOBILE: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s6-edge/SM-G925F/XFA/download/G925FXXU4DPIX/108273/
Is this a stock Firmware and reliable source...?
Sammobile is a very reliable source, if that firmware is the newest one for your model number and country/region/carrier then you're good to go.
I did install Firmware corresponding to my phone (PDAIX / CSCI2 / PHONE: PHH (XFA)) using Odin, I can use the phone for like 2 or 3 minutes and then it freezes, restarts and gets into boot loop.
Any more drastic measurements to take...? Is there an online tool to test the hardware function(s)...?
After flashing stock firmware, have you tried booting to stock recovery then do the factory reset and wipe cache then reboot.
Yes, I did...!
In ODIN, do I load only the "AP"...?
In most situations, AP is all you need if the firmware is an all in one firmware file, if you have a 4 part firmware then you need to put each part in its corresponding tab/slot in Odin.
Sometimes you have to flash more than once to be successful.
My phone is running like a horse now...! No more intermittent restarts nor boot looping.
I just did a clean install of Android 7.
The clean install of Android 7 went fine and now it's working back again, was because I changed the "Reactivation Lock" to OFF; I think this helped.
