I have begun to get frustrated with a problem im having, and thought it worthy of addressing here.
Whenever I plug in the micro-usb connector (several, including original), to either charge or connect to PC, it auto-mutes the sound on the device, displaying the muted sound icon on the top bar. It stays that way even after disconnecting the USB. Its causing me to miss calls due to me having to remember to manually re-enable the sound after each connect and/or disconnect.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is this a feature? Any fix? I could not find any similar threads by searching. This is a stock OS unhacked. with TMO.
Thanks for any assistance.
Dave
Never seen this, never had a stock TMo ROM though

I got a bluetooth dongle (http://dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11866) and I got it working and its working overall pretty well. But now all the sudden when I plug my phone in though USB it doesn't work anymore. It still charges but now it doesn't do anything when connected via USB. Activesync doesn't recognize it and doesn't do anything at all when I plug in my HTC Fuze through USB.
I like bluetooth but I like using my phone for tethering and not to mention bluetooth burns through battery.
So what could be going wrong?
I have no idea what could have messed it up because it just all the sudden stopped working. I have tried everything and yet nothing helps. I uninstalled and reinstalled a couple times and looked through all the drivers. Usually I hate posting threads like these asking for help but I really have nothing left to do anymore.

In addition to the problems many of you are having with reboots and ringtones, I was wondering if the other problems I'm having are common and documented or whether I ought to exchange my handset for another one.
A few days ago I noticed that many of my thumbnails in the gallery pointed to the incorrect image. That is to say that a thumbnail of one photo, when clicked, opened a different photo than the one in the thumbnail. Has anyone else experienced this or issues with other pointers ?
The second issue that I'm having is spontaneous disruption of the USB connection. I tried to copy a 1.5gb file from my phone to my pc (running Win7). No more than fifteen seconds in, the USB connection is closed or lost and the file transfer halts. I had the same issue copying a much smaller (about 100mb) folder. I then turned off the phone, removed the battery, and replaced it after a few minutes. I tried to transfer the 1.5gb file and, again, the USB connection terminated. I re enabled the USB connection and sucessfully transfered several 100-200mb folders. Odd.
So should I exchange my phone or are many of you seeing these issues ?
not seeing any of these issues on my NS, not even the random reboot.
The gallery bug you described is mentioned here in at least one other thread, so it's a "known" issue in my opinion.
Your the first I've read of any USB data transfer issues, though.
Thanks, distortedloop.
Now that I think of it, the PC that I was attempting to perform the file transfer with is built with a really cheap case and PSU; its quite possible that the front USB port I had the phone plugged into was intermittently delivering insufficient power and causing the phone to dismount the sdcard/end the usb connection. I'm going to try transferring the file to some other PCs to verify.
EDIT: Confirmed, the file transfers fine on my work machines.
I've been experiencing the same usb transfer issue lately, but I think it's more of a software issue.

Have you tried it on another machine or, if you don't have one available, even just tried it from a back port ?
USB ports are definitely not all created equally. On my Mac laptop, one port provides more voltage than the other. Definitely worth trying on a different port on whatever machine you use.
So do you guys think these bugs are at all hardware related; would returning the handset for another one make me less likely to experience these issues, or are the issues affecting all users regardless of hardware ? Its getting near the deadline for returning/exchanging the phone...
the gallery bug is getting annoying, i also get data unknown when i try to use the scroll on bottom of the screen
hello,
some of users have a big problem, the usb ports and the sd card not recognize any storage device we connect. the sulotion is to shutdown couple of times and redock again, and then only maybe it will back to work, is very annoying, who have a dock, know what i talking about.
i really want to solve this issue with asus, can anyone want to share his experience with this problem?
thank you guys

Not development.....at least attempt to read the rules first.
Hi all,
I apologise in advance if this has been answered somewhere here before, but I couldn't find anything on Google or using the forum search.
Background:
I usually have USB connection set to Media device (MTP) and this works for 99% of devices. The one thing that's causing me issues is the USB connection on a Hyundai i30. As soon as it is connected, it starts to scan for music to play. However after approx 5 seconds the connection drops, then it attempts to reconnect again. This causes the radio to toggle off in the car repeatedly each time it tries to reconnect and worse, ends up draining the battery on the N5 instead of charging it.
Current Workaround:
I've been able to avoid the issue by deselecting both MTP and PTP in the USB connection settings which allows the phone to charge properly.
TL/DR - Hoping for an easier way to change USB mode:
Does anyone know of any widget that exists that can toggle this from the homescreen? It's a pain to have to go all the way to USB connection each time I have to get in the car, then to remember to change it again next time I'm using anything else. Bootloader unlocked and rooted BTW.
Hi all, sorry if this thread is in the wrong place, but not sure where I'd actually put it, so feel free to move it to the correct forum if needed.
Basically I've got an android head unit in my car which claims to be running android 10 (the unit is a PX5 I think), and have multipe USB connections which allow me to plug in a memory stick to transfer MP3's onto the inbuilt storage, plug in a USB DAB radio receiver, or an OBD adapter, TPMS, etc. Problem is these devices are to be left plugged in permanently, and whenever I start the car I get a pop up notification asking if a device should be the default adapter for a specific app, etc. I've attached a photo to show the type of pop up I mean. There's an option to make it the default, which it doesn't want to be otherwise none of the adapters work with their respective apps, but there is no option to say no and never ask again? So it asks every single time I start the car. Is there a simple way I can stop this pop up from appearing? If I cancel the prompt, all works fine with each adapter and app, but I'm sick of having to cancel it every single time. No idea if the stereo is already rooted or not, so not sure if that would hinder me.
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
