Wifi does not connect with new tmous update - HTC One S

my wifi does not connect to routers. it shows that it is on and it also shows the available connections but when i type in my password, it will not connect. i first noticed this when i was on the energy rom. thinking it was the roms fault, i then flashed an aokp rom and now i am running trickdoid and the problem still continues. any suggestions?

Update the radio or restore the radio?

Make sure you're using the 2.4GHz band. Rumor is that the 5GHz stuff doesn't work so great with this radio.

Android Revolution 4 g compatible?

Hey, im running 3.1 of Android Revolution HD on my new 4g Sensation and I don't seem to have 4g access ever since I've rooted my phone. Beforehand on stock there was a little plus next to my mobile data symbol but now its gone.
The speed test app also showed lackluster results, my download speed was like 534kb while upload was around 700 kb.
I am assuming there is an easy solution to this, maybe turn it on in settings or something. (I just checked the 4g coverage for my area and apparently I have 21 mbps download speeds.)
Thanks in advance for any help you can give!!!
(I am with Bell Aliant in Canada by the way)
May depend on the radio you have installed. Just something every user has to play with. H is also the same thing as 4G with t-mobile. You also cant go according to what they say you can get either. It's all in the hspa+/4G dispute.
Ohhhhh, yes it must be the radio then. Why does the Developer of Revolution HD recomend using the radio listed with his rom? Apparently I lost 4 g access by installing it.
So, by uninstalling it and reinstalling my old radio I should regain 4g access right?
Also, what downfalls are there to using a stock radio?
Thanks!

Not necessarily, the radio that Mike recommends with his ROM is the same radio that is coming with the OTA update from T-Mobile.
I would check to see what your RIL is, I bet it is 162 and you may want to change it to 169 and see if that helps first.
Wouldn't using non-matching ril file cause problems? Can you post the command to check what ril you have for reference please?

Mike's ROM by default has RIL 169 but when it runs the script to see if your phone is t-Mobile 4G or not it changes the RIL to 162 if it is a t-mobile 4G and leaves it at 169 if it is not a t-mobile 4G.
To check to see what RIL you have run getprop "gsm.version.ril-impl" in Terminal Emulator or adb shell and it will print out the RIL version!
Nice. I have 162 but have a tmous 4G sensation. I have the radio in his op so is it ok to run that radio with the 169 ril?

Yes it is, the default RIL in his ROM is 169 and when it senses you have a T-Mobile 4G is switches it to RIL 162. I ran 162 for a while then switched to 169 and am trying it out today.
Cool. Thanks. Will try as well

Same here, but with occasional wifi calling FC's. I did find with mine that GreenPower caused a low wifi signal for some reason. Turning that app off immediately increased signal strength.
I got the phone already rooted & the only ICS rom I tried was ARHD. Everything was good & all but I just couldn't never get my WiFi connected. I don't never use WiFi calling.
No prob here, I'm using ARHD 6.2.1. Previous version had a wifi problem. I also have wifi calling available.

The reason I ask is because there is two ways two s-off your phone one of the ways seems to be causing wifi issues, according to some users. Doesn't sound you know what method was used to s-off yours but sounds like it was with the htcdev site.

do you have any issues with wifi calling? Because I have the same setup as yours and the wifi calling connection drops every 5-10 minutes even if I'm not on the phone. Yet the WiFi maintains its connection with my router...

If you have a WiFi problem you may need to:
Extract the Rom file on the pc and it may have an unsecured boot.img file. If so then download adb and put the boot file in the same folder as the adb file. It has to be the same folder. Then hold shift and right click on the folder and press open in command prompt. The phone needs to be in fastboot, go into hboot and click fastboot and have it plugged in. Then on the command prompt type fastboot flash boot boot.img , after that is done type fastboot reboot-bootloader and then fastboot reboot. This flashing should be done after the Rom has been flashed, I do it before the first boot.

I've tried using wifi calling on at least 3 or 4 different ICS roms and it does the same thing dropping the call within a few minutes. I don't even bother trying it anymore, too bad as it would be really nice to have. Maybe when HTC releases a final version but I'm not holding my breath.
I found a ROM that works...thanks anyways.
Yeah, no problems here on V.I. 3.5.0

No mobile network at all randomly?

Hi, I am currently having this weird issue of having no mobile network at all, at first I thought it was a faulty sim card but when I changed from o2 sim card to a orange one still no signal, I then tried a virgin mobile sim card but with the same issue. I am clueless on what my next step would be in fixing this issue. My phone is S-OFF running ViperS 1.2.1 running firmware 3.33. I tried flashing a different RIL which matched my firmware again but same issue still persists.
Any help on what to do next will be greatly appreciated
Try changing radio and ril. I had the exact same issue once after flashing a recommended radio . I fixed my issue by flashing. Generic ics radio and ril .best wishes

Make sure your APN settings are correct. It's possible that the APN's got deleted somehow. If so, that will kill mobile data.
Alos, make sure there is only 1 APN to choose from. (Just make sure it's the correct one). If you have multiple to choose from the SIM card can go haywire trying to figure out which one to connect through, even if you clearly have selected 1.
Would you mind giving me a download link to the generic ICS radio and ril files?

do this ... on dialer *#*#4636#*#* and go to phone information and check the "preferred network type"
it will be normally in WCDMA preferred ..change it to GSM only or any other (one by one) and check the mobile network
also check the IMEI (verify it )..some times IMEI mismatches happen for some people

Thanks for your input, I tried changing it to GSM only but it automatically goes to WCDMA preferred not letting me choose any other options. I also checked to verify the IMEI number was the same as on the phone and it was correct. Confused why I'm experiencing this issue all of a sudden

Just reflashed the 3.33 firmware but same issue persists, no mobile signal :crying:
Very strange. Have you tried the different radios ril with no luck? Does it act like this with different roms also? Have you tried? Hope you get this resolved soon ! When my network went out a new radio and ril did the trick....wishing you the best. Hopefully you can get this resolved soon!

Issue is being resolved by my network provider, the incompetent staff blacklisted my phone as lost by accident meaning I won't get any signal no matter what sim card I insert.
Thanks for the help anyway guys

flashable stock tmo rom

ive looked and cant seem to find a flashable zip of the most recent tmo firmware. i found a nandroid but wifi didnt work. if someone knows where one is or can post one id appreciate it.
It's not going to work for you regardless. There is firmware you need included in update for Wi-Fi to work on that build.

very sad too cus my phone blows now.
2.21 runs great with awesome data speeds. I was on that for weeks till yesterday, giving this 2.35 a test drive. 2.31 gave me random reboots.
I'm on T-Mobile US.

Hmm. So I was having even worse data/wifi issues after updating. Like I said the speed test app wouldn't work, wifi calling wouldn't work. So I found the newest ruu which is posted here in the [email protected] section, like 2.85 or whatever. Ran the ruu and I'm having zero issues. Something with taking the updates ota didn't agree with my phone. If you're having issues after the ota I'd suggest just running the ruu. Seems flawless now.

Firmware differences?

I'm just curious. I'm running the newest elegancia 4.1 on 3.32 firmware. What exactly is the difference in 3.33? Would there be any noticeable change in operation or performance? Mainly just wondering if its worth the effort to change firmware as I'm not seeing any bugs with the Rom/firmware I currently use.
Also, I dropped my phone recently and my WiFi will no longer turn on. I'm assuming I somehow physically broke my WiFi, as I've tried restoring a backup and new rom and still nothing. Any other ideas?

The difference between 3.32 and 3.33 is that 3.33 updates your radio to 11.24 (you can check what radio you have by booting into the bootloader).

Actually it's radio 1.76 in 3.33. Also it changes the ril and hboot. But saying that there's not that much difference all roms that work with 3.33 work with 3.32 also
