I got my Atrix 2(MB865) in mail today and i found a folder named "logger" inside the given sdcard, which has some log files dating back to 08 December 2011.I had attached those log files in a zip below. Please can anyone tell me what it is?I find my Atrix 2 screen to be dull in comparison to my Defy. The whites are so yellowish. Anyone think that the screen would be refurbished?(But good on moderate brightness)
And secondly my default lockscreen is different from the one that i saw in many reviews. My android version is 2.3.6 and my system version is 55.28.37.MB865.AsiaRetail.en.03.
And is there any way to open the RTN menu in Atrix 2. I've tried the '#' method and the "activities" widget method, but none of them worked.
Please Help.
Any ideas anyone?
Please can anyone tell me what those log files are? Is there any way to see the com.android.hiddenmenu/com.android.RTN menu?
If it don't look like the ones that are new.. like lock screen and such..its probably been fiddled with IMO

i hav got same logger file with exact date in 2 gb memory card....nothing refurbished .......its all brand new
Thanks for the reply guys!
I am glad to hear from GaganPla that the log file has nothing to do with my Atrix 2 being refurbished.I asked a motorola support guy about the log files and he told me those files are created when they first install android into the phone.
And about the screenshots: I cant take screenshots now because i haven't rooted it yet.The motoblur and the homescreen are same but the lockscreen is different from the ones that i saw in many reviews.I got these images from the internet and they are close to what iam saying. The image "images.jpg" is what i saw in many reviews, and the image "Screenshot2.jpg"(The clock is center aligned in this image, but in mine it is left aligned) is the one that came with the phone.
Those screenshots are not mine.
Screenshot2.jpg : From Prasanna V L: PVL-StockPlus
images.jpg : From google search
That's the new lockscreen that got pushed out to SEARET and (I think) MEARET phones a little while back via an ota update.
Oh..... thank you so much for your reply..
So all Atrix 2 now has the different lockscreen.
I am kinda relieved now....

Where did you buy your phone? If it is from a trusted seller, they would say if it was refurbished.
I bought my Atrix 2 from an online store here in India called "Flipkart". I talked to them many times but they told me that they would never fiddle with the box, and if mine happens to be refurbished then it is Motorola's fault. The customer support for Moto in India is the WORST.When i asked them if my phone was "REFURBISHED" they filed a support ticket saying "customer wants to know if his phone is REFURNISHED". And they replied to me saying that "all information about REFURNISHING can be found in the Motorola website, thank you for contacting customer support" and they close the thread. So i gave up and thought that i could find it here... So anyone knows how can i find the refurbished status of my phone like RTN menu? Anyone?

You probably aren't ever going to be 100% sure, especially since you seem to be convinced of it already.
The "Logger" folders etc. frequently are put in place during an initial system install. Your desktop or laptop has several of them, unless you have someone who cares enough installing your system to remove them for you. Most don't.
The "lock screen difference" that you noted is simply the updated lock screen that it seems like everyone but AT&T customers got. You're essentially upset that your phone is more up-to-date than mine.
What other reasons do you have to believe that you have a refurbished phone? That your screen doesn't appear to be quite like you expected? No dice there.
If you're really wanting to get into that RTN menu, I believe that the Romulus/Remus roms have them unlocked in them. Restore one of those and check through that.
Thank you very much for your reply RowanOak. Ya i am now convinced that my phone is not refurbished. I initially got the doubt because of those log files.
But just for the sake of conformation, i am going to try the rom you suggested. Thank you so much for your help

First off, yes I did a search, both on XDA and via Google, and I turned up plenty of mentions, but no actual links.
The official AIM app for Android was released a while back, and it worked great (for me anyway); well, lo and behold my N1 was stolen on Sunday (bastards... WaveSecure's gonna put'em in jail tho), and I just got my replacement today. After rooting and flashing CM 5.0.6 and trying to restore everything to the way it was pre-theft, wouldn't you know it, the app no longer seems to be on the market. Anybody got the APK? Got it installed and can link up a copy from an Astro backup? It'd be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Yes I know there are other apps that provid AIM functionality. Yes I know about the issues many have had with the official app. Yes I'm still pissed that my N1 was stolen. Yes I'm gonna be selling an N1 for a low price once I get the stolen one back (and I'm praying I do). Thx for your concern and your help.
Can't help you with the actual AIM app, btu I can suggest eBuddy as an alternative.
I got the apk but I'm put right now. too bad I don't know how files.

^it's no rush, my dude. If you get around to uploading it when you get home or whenever you have time (assuming you meant you're "out" and I'm not misunderstanding), I'd greatly appreciate it.
When I can't find an app in the Market I can usually get the app wit Market Enabler and switching back and forth with T-Mobile and AT&T. It will usually work for at least one reboot if I fake a provider, reboot, fake the same provider again after the boot, open Market. T-Mobile is 310260. At&t is 310410.
BTW and off topic, does anyone know a place to find a list of ALL the different gsm.sim.operator.numeric values for all the world's Android Markets? That would be a big help.
Anyway, here's the official AIM app. Enjoy.
Hmmm, I just typed AIM and it was the first app in the Market to download.
As for selling the stolen phone, doesn't the IMIE or whatever its called get blacked listed/banned?
That's interesting... it's now showing up for me as well. It looked like a newer version than the one I installed though, it prompted me to "update" to 1.5.5.1 I believe it was; Astro shows the version I downloaded yesterday as being v1.5.5.1 however. Wierd.
I kid you not though, it wasn't showing up yesterday. I even went to the AIM mobile site and tried to get it via the QR code on the page, market found nothing. Odd.
Edit: Also, about the other phone... that's a good question. I guess we'll see if/when the other N1 is returned to me. *shrug*

Yea I got a text running perception 5. Not sure its froyo or a really late text for jh7.
I've been getting them for the last few days, though I'm not willing to flash to find out lol....
I got it shortly after flashing to cognition 2.3b6 - checked for new OTA updates and didn't get anything.
Just tried and failed to connect to server.. though it's probaly nothing. Been a lot of posts about people getting texts to update (I haven't gotten one, I'm running stock JH7). I think it's just AT&T trying to get everyone to update to JH7.
From androidforums.com:
"This has been happening for a while now. People who are running anything other than Samsung/AT&T firmware have been getting these notices."

Nope. Stock.
1. AT&T doesn't know what firmware you are running. They are STILL sending out general update notifications to remind people to update to JH7.
2. There are two other threads in the forum, on the front page discussing the same topic...LOL. Come on guys.
For whatever it's worth, I spoke with three AT&T techs today, from common answerer, all to UPPER LEVEL WIRELESS TECH, and the answers I got from all three, screwed my thinking, which at times, AT&T does well. The OTA to side-load they been speaking of, IS NOT A SOFTWARE UPDATE, as I thought it had to be, but online instructions, on how to make am adjustment, Menu, then Settings, to stop BLOCKING the install of NON MARKET APPS, like from Amazon. I thought the OTA, was a software 'patch' that would fix the blocking of apps not from the Market, but they all told me, that the OTA, was really a set of steps, that showed you how to make the MANUAL ADJUSTMENTS, on my Captivate. Maybe I'm the only one feeling like an idiot over this, but that is how I was left feeling. They sent not one, but two different text mess., that for some reason, didn't do a thing, so the upper level tech, tried walking me through the adjustment, his own self, but he flat failed to tell me how. He finally suggested, that since it was Amazon's appstore app I was trying to install, and my Captivate still was BLOCKING the install, to ask AMAZON for help, in case THEY KNOW how to make the adjustments on the Captivate, or better, to ask SAMSUNG, since it's their phone. The guy was nice..., but why do I feel shafted for paying outrageous premiums for service from AT&T, but when I ask for help, I get shoved along to someone else, for them to help me?
Has anyone heard, that the OTA, is NOT SOFTWARE, but actually instructions, to make in your phones settings? If anyone could give a rational explanation of this to me, I'd appreciate it. My AT&T Samsung Captivate, is a great phone, to me, but AT&T, leaves a lot to be desired. Any suggestions?
Please don't hijack threads.
Anyways if it is instructions then they will need to push out an ota to even enable the option. They removed the option to prevent people from enabling it to begin with.

Last night my wife's phone completely hung. Had to use 3-button combo to get into recovery and reboot. After reboot, Device Management was running endlessly. Tried to kill it but it wouldn't stop. Tried to use TIBU to freeze it but TIBU wiuldn't open. Finally killed it by clearing Device Management data. Went into TIBU again and froze it. Unbelievable. Her phone is stock 2.2 but rooted. 2 hours later, I noticed on my phone that Device Management was running (notification bar). Went through the same sequence to kill it and freeze it. I will never defrost this!!
On my stock 2.2 not rooted cappy it was enabled just by turning the phone off and back on a couple of days ago.

Hello everyone,
Im planning to get this phone off craigslist but im afraid that the phone that i am about to purchase is going to have the reboot/freeze issue. Im not worried about the screen bleeding though. So can you tell me an easy way to identify if the phone has this problem? I know il come to know eventually once i purchase it but i wanted to see at the time of purchase from the seller. So please any suggestions are welcome. (some specific manufacturer date, or packaged date or location on the box etc ) any details that will help me if there is any specific pattern for this.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the response. yeah i have seen that it is coming soon (and i like the way it looks) but i dont want to wait for it a month more(to be available with out contract by the same way).
Also,
1) i want to have an unlocked bootloader as a precautionary measure just incase i get to start to flashing roms
2) Heard that Sense eats lot of RAM and i want an option to remove it if i feel the same
3) Im sure it is gonna cost lot more than the G2x.
4) And i feel G2x's GPU would be powerful than the sensation.

The only thing I can think to do to check the phone is ask the owner not to reboot the phone for any reason and when you go to purchase it look and see how long the phone has been on since reboot and If it doesn't match up with what the owner says it is probably rebooting. I have had two so far and had no real reboot issues plus from what I have read LG is aware of the issue and will be issuing an update soon for the bugs. I also debated on the Sensation but decided to stick with the G2X. Hope this helped
So here's a guy who has gotten both the galaxy s 2 and the htc sensation.

From what hes been saying on twitter and the videos Ive watched i think apart from the animations and ui I think id rather have the g2x
The ui is very ram heavy but its very beautiful so I guess its a trade off.
Apologies if I'm breaking any forum rules here, but Costco currently has the G2X for $49.99 if you are adding a line. You might use this info when dealing with your CL seller! Comes with a car charger and BT headset. I'm off to Costco right now to get one!

I have confidence that the sensation will get root access eventually, but the process to root may be harder compared to say the G2 or the G2x, and that's still an if it gets rooted. Htc and battery life is always an issue, and the sense ui plain sucks. It does not even look good and I don't know why htc insists on making it so you are forced to use it...it should be optional.

I sent my Nexus S to get fixed and when I got it back it was completely different, it was like they left a developers version on it.
I don't want to send it away to fixed again.

Your photos look a lot more legitimate than the OPs. I'll forward this link to an ACS member and see what he thinks of it.
I think this is fake. I don't think that 2.4 would have the same kernel version as 2.3, but maybe it is a minor update or something.
If this is real do not try to customize/wipe/reset and keep it as is until you can make a full backup.
u could adb shell into it and get some more information from there.
Could they extract the whole thing using Odin?
It's legit, but it's dead old.
2.3.3 is newer.
in all honesty it feels way smoother...i mean absolutly no lag on the home screen with widgets i know you guys feel a bit of lag on the 2.3.3 home screen...if not your lying lol but ...the launcher feels like its Launcher pro...it doesn't do the reel thing..if you know what i mean...yeah i really want to extract this...we boxed it up and didnt even put a sim in it...let me know what to do guys...
+1 On the wallpaper. Actually no, it's a fail.
1) The phone wouldn't even boot if the OS wasn't installed completely not to mention I've never seen an Android phone throw up the 'warning' like that. It just writes it to the log and reboots, crashes, carries on, or doesn't boot at all.
2) It's an obvious wallpaper because the widget sits in front of it. A warning would pop up in front of every other task if that's what Android did (normally it boot loops or crashes).
3) The phone info screen makes no sense. You can also edit the build.prop file to make the info screen say "your_mom_is_hot 5000.00.543.158" and the kernel could say "pot.head 2.35.420".
4) We've seen this sort of thing before. If you're going to fake it - make sure you don't have a bunch of Android geeks around to call you out.
5) If it's really 2.4 (which may not even be the number for the next version) then tell us, what's new? Oh it's smoother? Great, so is CM7 and MIUI. Smoother doesn't cut it, sorry. New features that we don't have are where it's at and are what proves it to us. So do it....

Then again, if you're going pose it in a way like you're extorting us or are some picky, middle aged lady at Jcpenney threatening totake her business elsewhere maybe they should help you. Google has already announced only version 2.3.5!
So why we are talking about 2.4? It is easy to change you android version in build.prop =)
Hey,
I have exactly the same problem with my nexus s. Not going to bother with photos because people will say they are fake but it looks the same. I took it to get repaired because it was freezing, they didn't repair it but it came back with what I think is a developers/maintenance version of android. It's called 2.4 but it's not a new version. It has lots of developers apps e.g. 'Dev Tools'. It doesn't have Android market though so you can't really access any new apps.
Does anyone know how to get back to 2.3.x so I can just have a normal phone.
I've tried updating to 2.3.x (1, 3 and 4) and it fails every time as it's not really an update. I think I need to do a 'full' install of 2.3.x. Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks for your help.

Hello everybody,
First time posting but great job with all the advice given on this forum.
I recently bought a BLU Pure XL phone online (not sure I can post where I bought it from). When I was playing around with it, I found some ringtones that go on for about 30 seconds and have names like turkish_music or persian_wow_music. This is my second BLU device and I can recognize some ringtones also present on my other phone (Life One), and their naming is, for example, HalfwayHome and the length of those is not more than 10 seconds. I have screenshots if this would help, but again I am not sure if I am allowed to post them and I would like some guidance on how .
I was wondering if they are part of the default ROM or if someone was using my phone before I purchased it, because I only bought the specific one that was listed as new. Do they exist on anyone else's phone as well?
I was offered a free exchange but I would like to make sure the phone is not new before I proceed, since this will probably involve paying the shipping costs, and having to wait for the new phone to arrive. Is there a definite way to find out if the phone was used before I got it? I have searched for hours upon hours and also tried all the relevant secret codes but most of them didn't even open the respective menu they were supposed to open.
I would much appreciate your help or your view on this.
Thank you

I can assure you those are the default international ringtones you speak of. If you factory data reset the phone, you will still see the same ringtones. I personally would visually inspect the phone along with its packaging to ensure it is new and not used. Good luck!

There are no visible marks on the phone or the box. I just was thrown off by the existence of those ringtones. No other data/apps or anything else exists on the phone. I already tried resetting and they are still there so I guess you must be right. Do you have the international version as well? Are those ringtones present in yours as well?

I already tried resetting and they are still there so I guess you must be right. Do you have the international version as well? Are those ringtones present in yours as well?

I honestly wouldn't worry about it then. I bought my phone from Amazon here in the USA. I am 100% positive it's brand new and I have the same ringtones. I wouldn't exchange the phone for that reason alone. I had to exchange my first one since it had a small screen defect. My second one the fingerprint sensor started acting up. I'm on my third one and (knock on wood) it's been perfect. I've had it for over two months now. All three phones had the same ringtones. I personally think it's cool how it has such a variety of ringtones.

Thank you very much for your reassuring answers. :good: I hope that your 3rd is the charm. I also think it's cool to have lots of ringtones. I may even have some more on it in the near future. Oh well, for now, let's get comfortable with the new phone first
