Hi guys just to let you know that I got my sim unlock code for my HOX in less than 15 minutes for $5.98 on ebay. If any of you need to unlock here's the item number: 200762184642. They were other services and less expensive ones but after reading some feedbacks I went with this service. This is only for AT&T's HOX. Hope it helps any of you.
Thanks for the tip. Good one

Purchased one for myself.
I don't have another sim card to try it out unfortunately. So shame on myself.
Seems to be okay tho. Got the code in a matter of minutes. No problems at all, now I just need a sim card to unlock it.
Just go buy a prepaid t-mo phone from Walmart or a gas station and use that Sim.

Does anyone know if T-Mobile uses microsim? I am assuming yes. I would like to find a place which sells t-mobile microsim.
I just bought the code, itching to try it.

He meant T-Mo uses regular SIM and your HOX uses microSIM of course. So you can't borrow some one else's SIM.

I think, we are going in circles. My original question was in response to post #5. The post sounded like we need to buy T-Mobile sim (with phone) from Walmart. I assumed it is regular sim since low priced phones comes with regular sim.
I was wondering how I could get T-mobile microsim. I wanted to know if T-Mobile carries microsim. May be, I didnt word it right.
Can someone in this thread , who has already SIM-unlocked their phone, provide me the last seven digits of their IMEI and the unlock code , so that we can try to unlock the ONE x phones for free, based on the following threads ...

At this point we are unable to locate the "UNLOCK_CODE" for the AT&t HTC one XL in the partitions and the info I have requested above helps us to do it ...

Download the attached zip file ( thats for adb ).
Are you using a PC or a mac ? If it's mac ...let me know . ( the attached zip file will not work if it's a mac )
Unzip the file and go to the directory "adb-usb".
Open a command window and navigate to the directory opened above ( which is adb-usb)
For example: If you saved the file on your desktop and unzipped it there... you will have to open a command window and type :C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxxx\Desktop\adb-usb"
Once you are in the directory in the command window ... connect your phone to the PC via the USB cable ( and when prompted select the charge only mode in the phone ).
Then run the following commands....
Code:
adb shell "su -c dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p6"
adb pull /sdcard/mmcblk0p6 mmcblk0p6ORIG
You will see the file "mmcblk0p6ORIG" in the same directory you are in... pls attach the file
---OR---
You can run the following commands in the command window once you connect your phone ...
Code:
adb shell
su
strings -n 8 /dev/block/mmcblk0p6
and then copy/paste the output you get on the screen.

That's why you should plan ahead. I bought mine before I bought HOX. 99% of the SIM cards out there are regular SIM. So a sim cutter is almost mandatory if you ever want to unlock your phone.

Hello all. I found a thread on how to pull the unlock code off my tmobile galaxy s 4g using the embedded information on the phone. I tried this code with no success so I decided to give tmobile a call to get the code. So today I get an email with the code and it is the same exact one that I pulled off the phone and it still doesnt work. It this point I do not know what else to do. I tried both the apps from the andriod store with no success(helroz/ SGS Unlock) one says null and the other is blank where the code supposed to be. Does anyone have any ideas? My phone is the samsung sgh-t959v tmobile galaxy s which has been ungraded to 2.3.6 via klies mini and is rooted via superoneclick 2.3.3-shortfuse. Any help is appreciated.
Flash back to stock and walk into a T-Mobile store with your phone and the email.

You need to have a different carriers SIM card to use the code. Find a buddy who has ATT and put that SIM in the phone. Reboot and enter the code. Presto you're now unlocked.

I used a digicel sim card that I have still active in another country (Jamaica) with the sim unlock attemps. The only other sim that I have laying around is an old metro pcs sim thats deactivated. I doubt it is the sim the phone is just not taking the code.

So your running stock/rooted and you've tried another carriers card. OK. I'm not sure whether that SIM has to be able to get connection or not. Next step would be to borrow someones card. I know when I unlocked mine I just popped in an ATT sim. Entered the code and that was it.
So I just got off the phone with customer care. They are saying that the imei on my account dosent match the phone I am requesting the sim unlock for so they have to correct that first before resending the code again. But what I dont get is why when i pull the hex code off of the phone the code matches the first unlock code they gave me. Both these things seem to tell me that the code is correct but why isnt the phone accepting it? I have 5 attempts remaining left and I have tried to reset it from some threads that I see but with no luck. Hope I dont end up with a useless phone. If I run a custom rom on my phone will it unlock it that way?
You need to be on stock to get the phone to accept the unlock code so don't flash anything else.
not to hijack, I'm on remics rom. If i were to put in a sprint sim and enter the unlock code that would not work?

Hello All,
I recently received a recycled MPQ from Sprint and in attempting to unlock the device I am informed (via Motorola - Unlock My Device) that this device is not eligible for unlocking! Maybe it was already unlocked once before and Moto doesn't clear the system even though Sprint does? Like maybe it is already tied to another user? Or shows that its already been unlocked? In any event. I may be sending this phone back for yet another recycled device and I assume I will have potentially the same problem. Rather than going to that hassle, is there a work around method for unlocking the bootloader without going thru Motorola?
TIA
Matt
Hi there,
You may need to make sure you remove the spaces from the number sequence when you paste it into the web page. Try pasting them into Notepad first, then you can check for/delete the spaces, and copy/paste into the moto unlock page.
I was getting the same result until I worked this out.

Actually, I transferred the code 1 at a time. I did not copy and paste. When it failed the first time I went back and did it again, it was exactly the same, an exact copy of the code. I verified and re-verified. No worky.
Also, I dont remember having "#"'s in my code on my old device but this one had several.
I think the unlocked boot warning would show if it had been previously unlocked.
Sounds like something else.

No, think about it. The phone has already been unlocked thru Motorola once potentially (most likely, since its a recycled phone). Just because Sprint wipes it doesn't mean Motorola re-locks it. I think there's a glitch in the 'accounting' by Motorola whereby phones (hardware) that were locked by a previous owner are registered to that person and not valid for another owner. Unless a new code is generated on every FZX flash which is highly unlikely. Anyone know more about the Motorola code and if each device is tied to a single code for its lifetime?
Why don't you contact Sprint then & get them to sort it out?
Pretty sure the moto unlock site states that they consider it impossible to re-lock a phone once the bootloader has been unlocked.
Read some posts that talk about re-locking, but the device would prob still register as unlocked on the moto unlock site. This may be what you are running into.
None of the PQ's I have were disallowed, despite me not being the original owner, so the codes/unlock will undoubtedly tie to a device serial# rather than a registered owner.
Dude - both my handsets had #'s in the code number sequence. Why don't you try cut & paste like I suggested? What have you got to lose?
Sent from my XT897 using xda app-developers app
---------- Post added at 10:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:03 AM ----------
To clarify - I think a factory reset handset from Sprint would still show up an unlocked boot loader warning if it had been done by the previous owner. It would prob have to be re-locked by moto somehow to remove the warning (unlikely).
As an unlocked handset would have void warranty issues, would Sprint really sell a boot unlocked Q? (Also unlikely).

I think we're tracking just not on the technical terms.... although I think sprint has a way of like hard wiping the phone or something. A factory firmware flash. Bam. Back to locked.

Update: copy and pasted the exact code via yall's instructions.... and... "Your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking."
Also, the Motorola rep showed in his system that the device was "not rooted". He couldn't figure it out and said he would get back with my via email.
Maybe its some deal Sprint has worked out with Motorola? They tie my name (as a known rooter/unlocker) to the hardware and tell Moto to disallow unlocking on a particular device?
Does anyone know of another way to unlock the bootloader?

Well, unlocking the bootloader does void the warranty... so if you're getting warranty replacements after unlocking the bootloader, perhaps this is why.
I seriously doubt it tho. I would just make damned sure the code is correct - no spaces being pasted in, etc.

^This is why I suggested you paste into notepad first, so you can check for spaces. Pasting directly into the web portal will carry spaces across, even though it looks like you haven't selected any!
Try via notepad & see what comes up. I had this exact problem with my first one & solved it this way. The second one went through perfect, because I used the notepad method.
Good luck with it. I doubt you have been banned for rooting/unlocking, that is what the bootloader unlock portal is for.

I also was unable to unlock my device through the official method. I copied the text out of the command prompt into notepad, verified it was all there, made sure there were no spaces, removed extra text in the lines, etc. I rechecked the code about 10 times and Motorola kept rejecting it.
My phone was won in a giveaway. It was shipped to me directly from Sprint but I never activated it on their service. I'm a Ting customer. They're a Sprint MVNO (reseller basically), and they had some issue activating in in their system, possibly because it hadn't previously been on Sprint. I wonder if that perhaps kept it from being activated in Motorola's database?
Anyway, you should be able to use this tool to unlock your bootloader. It worked for me, though I can't promise it's as good a solution as the official way or that it will also work for you and not do bad things to your phone.
It works on Photon Q too! I just unlocked my Photon Q with it... No problems...

So there is a tool huh? GOOD.
I just got off the phone with "Motorola Level 3 Support" and a guy named Jonathan told me he ran into this issue before. There is nothing Motorola can do and he suggests I go to Sprint for another phone. I said, well isn't this a feature of the phone, an unlockable bootloader? He said, "yes, but it's not a feature we support, because it voids the warranty" So they don't support any problems with that feature.
But since it was a selling point of the phone I think someone is liable for denying me full features of my phone. But regardless, I am going to try this new method and hopefully unlock this phone. Will report back.

Spoke to 2 friends that are more into the CDMA stuff and they both said that there is virtually no locks for CDMA, unless its highly subsidized and then again its unlikely they've locked it.Anyway, that's not 100% correct for sure.
That code they gave you could be one that you provide to the provider you want to switch the phone to.
Imo best is to ask the operator how to use it, they may have some internal procedures we may not know of.
Um I flashed my h950 from eBay onto the pr5.1.1 that everyone has recommended. Now trying to activate my T-Mobile sim. Sim inserts fine, but it says network locked. Um now what? Wasn't this thing unlocked out of the box??
Sorry, very green at this, since I am coming from nexus devices...
If the phone wasnt unlocked since it was on 5.0.1 ATT, then it shouldnt be unlocked when you flash it to H950PR. You´ll have to order an unlock code and enter it.
Thats just a quick guess btw. Did you try your tmo sim on it when it was stock att_?

Sometimes the code is sent thru ebay messages or included in the box. Contact the seller and ask for code.
That way you dont have to spend on buying it.

Sometimes the code is sent thru ebay messages or included in the box. Contact the seller and ask for code.
That way you dont have to spend on buying it.

Try 2945*950#

to see if it asks for code?
No prompt...I got imei easily with the command...but this combo doesn't have any prompt

You just saved me A LOT of anxiety. THANK YOU SO MUCH
Alright man.
Thats what we're here for to help whenever we can.
Everything is fixed!! No need to rma. You're awesome Alex!
I'm a new and proud owner of 2 Ph-1s, both purchased from Sprint.
While I was browsing XDA i noticed that there are two specific variants of the phone one SPRINT and the other OPENUS.
I know that one of the difference between the two variants is that Sprint is able to lock and unlock the SPRINT variant at will.
(I got the phone unlocked by paying off the lease for it and buying it out. I checked the IMEI and it was all green and good. After a few days, the IMEI was flagged as not met financial responsibility)
Do we know if there are any other specific differences between the two variants, and if there are none, can the bootloader from OPENUS be flashed on the SPRINT variant to remove any connection to Sprint.
I was looking at: https://www.essential.com/developer/current-builds
There are Kernel and Wifi drivers. I see that there are separate ones for Sprint and telus and one for all other carriers.
Would flashing the latest build for OPENUS variant also flash the kernel and wifi drivers?
Sprint variant is two updates behind. Try flashing the latest nougat here.

Hardware is the same for all essential devices.

So you paid it off, Sprint unlocked it. Then relocked it after a few days?

I did a bit more digging around the Phone apps/system apps and found the following and would want to know if folks with the OPENUS variant (non Sprint) have the same things on their phone:
Settings>Apps>Configure apps>Opening links>Carrier Hub (Open deviceservices.sprint.com)
Settings>Apps>...>Show System
[no name] 112 KB version sprint_05.07.00.02
running
Code:
adb shell pm list packages -f -s
to show all system packages shows the following sprint associated packages:
package:/system/app/SprintHiddenMenu/SprintHiddenMenu.apk=com.ts.android.hiddenmenu
package:/system/priv-app/MobileInstaller/MobileInstaller.apk=com.sprint.ce.updater
package:/system/priv-app/SMF/SMF.apk=com.sprint.ms.smf.services

Thanks for checking friend, I appreciate it.
Regarding ADB, you dont need to be rooted to run this command, just make sure the phone has Deve settings enabled, and enable USB Debugging. Then connect your PC to the phone and use minimal adb and fastboot to run the command. You can do lots of other stuff to this way keeping your phone non-rooted and with locked bootloader.
When I look at the variant for my PH-1 (which came from Sprint, is UICC unlocked, and works great with my t-mobile SIM) it doesn't show Variant - Sprint or Variant - OPENUS. Instead, it just shows Variant - .
It doesn't list anything after Variant.
Does anyone know if there is a way to overwrite both of the A/B partitions? I think the sprint variant is reloading something from the install/backup partition that keeps the phone sim locked even if you flash the openus variant.

So, we did the same thing as you. I purchased 2. The black one was unlocked out of the box. The white one isn't (yet). Both are paid off as of yesterday, they gladly took my money, but then didn't want to issue the unlock for the white one. I may just install the NMJ32F build, and see what happens.
Where did you look to check the IMEI unlock status? Swappa? I would be on the phone ripping Sprint a new ass if they are flagging my paid for device as "not met financial responsibility". I would blow them up on twitter, facebook, etc, until the problem has been rectified.
*UPDATE* I flashed NMJ32F and it works fine. Still locked to Sprint which I figured it would be. Otherwise, it has the latest November security patch now and should get all the other updates.
Hi, I am in Ireland and got a PH-1 which was locked by Sprint but i contacted them and they told me they have unlocked it for me and i can use it in Ireland but i am actually not able to use it on any network here, it just says Invalid Sim every time i put the sim card in.
Can anyone help me please?

Invalid sim means that your phone is still locked to Sprint.
If your phone is unlocked then the UICC unlock will show this message:

If they have unlocked it, you still need to put a Sprint SIM in it and run the UICC unlock before you can put another SIM in it.

So if i could get a Sprint sim card here, will i be able to do it myself?

The way I understand it, you need to put a Sprint Sim in that has service activated on so it can connect to their Network to be unlocked. How you can do that overseas I'm not sure... You could buy service and have it sent to you, then you can connect through roaming. Sounds extremely tedious and expensive to do though...

Mine too. Does this confirm that it is a Sprint version?

Not sure if it confirms it or not. I asked essential, but they said it wasn't a big deal / not a problem.
