Are you serious? Ive posted about various phones using GB kernels. This was done so people could get ICS while the devs finalized the ICS kernel. Its also done on phones that will never see official ICS support.
As for tediously upgrading, that shouldnt be a issue. Once ics roms are released people will stop asking for eta's and if there are some. It will let people port things like CM9 and possibly AOKP and allow bhundven and co focus on building the ics kernel.

Quick question...if there is one special bit my Valhalla Rom gives me that I don't want to live without, it's the Mobile AP option that allows me to turn my phone into an access point. Will that be possible in ICS?

What made me want to make this rom is while scrolling through the forums you know just enjoying my day i started to realize something ...Where are all the GB based roms? So what i wanted to do was completely make a rom not a port and i wanted to have fun doing so i called up some devs to help me out and began to take some action

I flashed dta2sd without checking first but it worked fine for me.
Only thing weird is that some of the status bar icons sometimes, randomly it seems, revert back to stock ones and then after a bit go back to the ones you have on by default...weird.

hi guys, seems like something it's gonna happen for optimus black, ku5900 ( the korean OB ) has now official ics..

This first release is just the korean one but it comes with 3.0.8 kernel. I don't know if we can use it or not

So, someone posted on OB forum that ics works on it if thay flash 2.3.4 first ( korean version) then the new update to ics, still nothing about kernel version

Sorry for OT but EPIC green name frank

The Official Release won't help much without the sources. That usually comes a few weeks afterwards. The partition difference between the KU5900 and the P970 makes it impossible to flash to the P970. I can change the partition sizes and offsets of the bin file and get it to flash successfully but changes has to be made in U-boot to make it boot with the changed partition sizes and breaking U-boot can possible make us lose the ability to go to SW Update mode and that is not a risk anyone is willing to take.
I don't know about the I9003 and any of their developments but I think the same is true : Nothing happening without sources.
( We had all the files by extracting the BIN file so all we have now is slightly newer files :silly: )
EDIT : I looked at the link and it's a link to a test version not a release version. So why you even bothered to check if the sources are out... The mind boggles.

the devs of i9003 community are trying to port a 3.0 kernel but it is very hard ( hillbeast are working on it ). Others like adi.pat and dhiru are working on a mod 2.6 kernel porting elements from 3.0 kernel. This last way seems to be easier than the first.

What the funk? User error, not kernel panic, upload mode.(is that what it says? can't read it that well)
Those IRQs make me think that it's something used for development. Except only Samsung (and Google) knows what it does and how to use it.
How long does it stay there? Is there anything else?
Edit: a quick google turns up that its a corrupt kernel, causing a lockup on boot (kernel panic) but not enough to brick the system. Odd that it says "not kernel panic".

Hey, it's a beta, so there will be bugs. But i don't have the time to flash other Roms at the moment, sorry.
I need Testers to tell me the bugs, so if you want, you can flash this and tell me the bugs

So the first bug - im getting an really low network signal. (everything works fine on DK CM10.1 RC5) However I still can call and my data transfer is quite fast so I think that it is just an graphical error. Reboot and second flash did not solved the issue.

HE was (maybe) a kanger, but now he makes fantastci ROM, and since he was banned from XDA, i doubt why did he make an account here !
