( ku5900 ) ICS official update for ku5900 - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

hi guys, seems like something it's gonna happen for optimus black, ku5900 ( the korean OB ) has now official ics..
This is the source:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1868405
i don't know if it's usefull but stay tuned! =)
IMPORTANT:
This first release is just the korean one but it comes with 3.0.8 kernel. I don't know if we can use it or not

This should had been in General Section...
But anyways, great news... Hope Our Kernel Devs port its kernel to our phone.. Then we'll have a stable and awesome CM9 and CM10...!!!

So, someone posted on OB forum that ics works on it if thay flash 2.3.4 first ( korean version) then the new update to ics, still nothing about kernel version

awesome news, the rom has a 3.0 kernel as expected!

Sorry for OT but EPIC green name frank

The Official Release won't help much without the sources. That usually comes a few weeks afterwards. The partition difference between the KU5900 and the P970 makes it impossible to flash to the P970. I can change the partition sizes and offsets of the bin file and get it to flash successfully but changes has to be made in U-boot to make it boot with the changed partition sizes and breaking U-boot can possible make us lose the ability to go to SW Update mode and that is not a risk anyone is willing to take.
I don't know about the I9003 and any of their developments but I think the same is true : Nothing happening without sources.
( We had all the files by extracting the BIN file so all we have now is slightly newer files :silly: )
EDIT : I looked at the link and it's a link to a test version not a release version. So why you even bothered to check if the sources are out... The mind boggles.

A question from a noob like me...
Hey guys,,,just a noob question...is it possible to upgrade from Froyo to ICS(Korean) directly...got a ku5900 from s freind and its still in
Froyo stage....if so should i do?
upgrade directly from LG Mobile Support Tool?
thanks a bunch in advance for you help...

my dear sorry but better refer to LG ku 5900 thread
this discussion is just for possibility porting kernel 3.0 from LG optimus black to our i9003
have a good day

the devs of i9003 community are trying to port a 3.0 kernel but it is very hard ( hillbeast are working on it ). Others like adi.pat and dhiru are working on a mod 2.6 kernel porting elements from 3.0 kernel. This last way seems to be easier than the first.
sorry for my english, i hope i've explained it =)

No new kernel just use coutts sense kernel...same as I used in wildfire s Rom for booting.
Got booted but with lots of bugs (automatically reboot after 10 to 15 seconds)
But this Rom is 3 months old...also its fully Deodexed...
Anyway who care the main thing is, its working on my device.
Gr8 job robo...

from what I've heard, Bumble-Bee stated that Sense has memory leaks, after a few hours of usage it was using 300 mB of ram (this on Ace). For now i can't even make the rom boot ) at least i've optimized the apks, gained about 30 megs. if anyone wants them i'll share
Wow, all the big guns starting to appear in one thread!
After months with compulsive flashing disorder i thought i had managed to cure myself with Oxygen 2.01 but after reading this i fear the worst!
Please developers, move quickly on this one, or i fear my marrage could be over.
Only joking and thanks to you all for all your great work.

NOTE :: you have to use NORDIC as base like you were using in CM7 and then restore the nandroid.
Some people are also having problems with GPS :: for GPS fix refer CM7 FAQ and its solutions.
for video playback :: Jboogie says, This is based on RC1. Only problem is mp4 playback is jumpy at times. Other than that, for me everything runs perfectly

Oh, there is first negative thing I've found - no T9 Dialer :/

[Q] *NEEWB ALERT* better battery life with new kernel?

hi
im kind of new to som of this, although i have knowledge about root and custom roms, ive come across something i've never considered before, namely kernel :/ as i understand that the right kernel can extend your battery life and such, i get raather curious about wich kernel i should use or if i actually would benefitt at all.
at the moment i have icecoldsandwich 2.0.0 custom rom installed with CM9 kernel (installed it 30 min ago so havent had time to check battery performance on this rom).
what should i do? would i benefitt from another kernel?
cheers, and thank all of you for engaging in this community ive learned alot from just reading
you can't change kernel on CM9 coz there's none compatible with that ROM apart the one shipped with it; that rom is in deep developement you have to wait a while if you want other compatible kernels.
cheers

Yep. All the ROMs have their preferred kernel anyway so you don't have much choice when it comes to kernels (at least not in the desire s section, not to say there's anything wrong with our kernels, Lowveld has done an amazing job with the kernels).
AOSP- Reaper kernel
Sense 3.5 - Endymion Kernel
Sense 3.0 - Hyperion Kernel
There are also two more kernels, Tiamat for AOSP and Unity v9 for sense. However, both these kernels are outdated now.
i see
well.... i have a reaaaaaal good feeling that there will be released a new version of the tiamat kernel veeeeeery soon :>

I wouldn't do it from a developer unless they gave you permission. But if it were from HTC I'd do it! I think a screenshot would suffice. Going to about phone can show you the kernel version.

You will get more respect if you make a PERFECT custom rom/port .
Not by lunching every month a new project .

Anyways, OP, I don't see any major difference between AOSP and CodeName, and update the credits to codenameandroid, its wrong there!

These are neither questions nor helpful/useful/related to topic
Sorry if it's a dumb question, but why requests? Who are they addressed to? Is a dev working on ICS for our device? Because I don't see LG checking this thread for user requests. At most they'll remove from their version of ICS everything that gets a request here . Having lived through the ghost call drama, I really wouldn't be surprised.

If people keep creating new threads requesting an ICS alpha build or have questions on when it'll be released, it'll clutter up the general section.

Accidentally clicked thanks instead of quote, but whatever...
Anyway, this is an old video, proves nothing other than na CM9 alpha already exists, which we knew months ago. We also know that CM9 development is halted because compatible DSP firmware is missing. It wouldn't make much sense to release CM9 if audio is broken wouldn't it?
nope ill gladly wait for a better working rom
