To all the people owning HTC Raider/Holiday are you seeing the device backside warms up very quickly.
It is not as bad Samsung Galaxy S2 , where it gets too hot, just wanted to be sure that its just not my device.

Whoa, you have the Raider/Holiday/Vivid(AT&T) on Bell already?
I know this is off-topic, but do you mind telling me how battery life is? If it's the same phone as the AT&T version, I'd like to know the LTE battery drainage.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Got mine from Rogers this morning.
Worked for a couple hour, now i cant get data anymore, upload arrow beside the 4g icone is light up constantly and three no download arrow ever.
Since that issue appear, my phone stay awake constantly(from battery info) and the bottom is warm. Not sure if it was that warm before the issue.
I know it's only partially related, but there not much info on the Raider out there right now, and i wanted to share in case someone else end up here like me while looking for my issue.
Not sure if i gonna exchange it or return it yet...

Whoa, the exact same thing is happening to me as we speak. Been like this since about 5pm this afternoon. Weird, I called Rogers and they said nothing's wrong w/ the network. Wonder if it's the phone...
Edit: Yup it's the phone. I put my sim back in my Evo 3D and no problems whatsoever with data. Ugh!!
How do you guys like the screen on it. I might be taking my atrix 2 back this Sunday for the att vivid.
You guys definitely got the better name that's for sure.
So screen and feel of the phone are my concerns and I guess these issues being found.
Thanks
Don

The screen is great, 4.5 qHD is huge when coming from 3.7 Desire Z. (No Gorilla glass mention anywhere thought...)
Feel is great also, but again, Desire Z is a big heavy phone (physical keyboard), half the ram and single core.
2 phone with the same issue dont look good, if you think of the probability of us finding each other...
My guess would be bad batch or bad phone... wish i knew which one...
@icepixie, Any chance you got your from the store in Joliette?
Yes, whenever I'm gaming I notice the bottom, back-side of the phone gets warm. I wouldn't say its hot though.
Personally, I am able to get through a whole day on the phone with medium to heavy usage. I'm sure you can get more with better power management (task killers, screen brightness, turning off data and wifi, etc.)
Overall, I am very pleased with this phone. I was initially afraid that the phone may be too large, but now I don't see myself ever using a screen that is less than 4.5" again.
I agree, it gets a bit warm when you use it heavily but it cools down pretty quick as soon as you stop to the phone goes to sleep mode.
The battery does last the whole day, and I think it will get better as now I play or show off the features.

No, I got mine from a Rogers Plus in Ottawa. I've packed mine back up to take it back to the store today, so we'll see what they can do for me.
Were you able to get your phone working again?
Honestly coming from an Evo 3D I don't know if the Raider is much of an improvement. They're very similar and although I like the look of the Raider much more I don't know if it's a worthwhile upgrade! I read some reviews of the new Telus HTC Amaze and I wish I got that one instead.
Went back to the store today, the replacement had the exact same issue, i did'nt try a third one...
Either a bad batch or a bad model, it suck cause i really wanted HTC Sense on a dual core, 4.5 screen.
Seem i gonna need to wait for a different model or some more online feedback on that issue...
wow that sucks... who woulda thought htc has these issues... think i'll try to contact htc about it.
i ended up returning mine today too.
Now I am getting random reboots, especially after a txt message. Is any one else seeing this.

Is there something wrong with my phone if it heats up no matter what custom ROM i use?
I tried Primadonna Sense 4.0a and its super hot
Then i tried new Miui by mikroms and also heat i had to go back to stock for now should i restore with stock img and reroot again?
Stock battery?
If so - sorry, but, blame HTC. The stock battery is unforgivable and crap.
If using an aftermarket battery like an anker or mugen, then as long as you aren't overclocked it shouldn't be too bad.

So my only problem would be the battery? cause it feels hot around where the Sim and SD card are at? so if i buy one of those anker or mugen u think that would fix the issue?
Read through some of the battery threads here, you'll find quite a few first-hand accounts of this problem magically vanishing after replacing the battery with one that wasn't designed to break your device so you buy a new one.
A crappy battery I could forgive HTC for, they make phones, not batteries.
One that physically damages and ages the device into a premature hardware failure? Shame on you HTC, that's slimy business practice.

The stock battery is worthless. Like blue said, as soon as i threw my anker in the heat problem went away.

I think that's more of a processor problem. Are you overclocking a lot or for extended periods of time?
I've never had a specific overheat issue due to the stock battery

Stock battery with stock speeds overheated while playing games or during heavy multitasking.
Last night i noticed my anker was dying faster than it had ever died so when i went to turn the processor down some i noticed it was on 1.5 performance. Then it hit me that earlier that day i had been running linpacks and forgot to turn it back down and i didnt even have a heat issue then. I usually run underclocked around 800mhz-1GHz and always have because i dont need more than that. So the stock battery is what causes the over heating.

120+ is in my eyes overheating, because back when i had the OG evo anything over 117 would damage the phone. So its a pattern with HTC to overheat phones. No big though my problem is solved, but for other users who have the same issue across multiple forums/sites they should know how to fix the problem.
Sent from my HTC MyTouch 4G Slide using Tapatalk 2
on the stock battery my phone's gotten to 122+ while usb tethering and fried one of my sd cards. t-mobile ended up replacing the unit and giving me a new sd card.
the new phone/battery didn't help the overheating problem so i bought a mugen battery. since switching to mugen, it hasn't gone past 114 and battery life is much improved
---------- Post added at 08:44 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:57 AM ----------
also, my htc amaze had a less intense version of the overheating problem until i replaced them with ankers. so yeah, htc has really sucked with their batteries lately. i never had these issues with the g2, just their dual-core phones.
I got my phone into the 140s once while driving through New Mexico and North Texas earlier this summer. Set it on the dashboard for a good 30 minutes while playing music lol. I had screen caps, but my sd card didn't make it.
Thanks

Why are our sensations rebooting like crazy these days?At first, I thought it was just my phone, but soon realized everyone has the same issue.
No matter what ROM I install, my phone turns off randomly. Whats going on? Someone please help if they have a solution cos I am seriously beginning to hate my sensation.
It has been about a year since most sensations were bought...
That's 500 charging cycles and for some batteries that's enough
Take your battery out and see if it got swollen or some liquid oily marks are visible, or even tiny silvery cracks.. those indicate the battery is dying.

Could this reboots be caused by bad radio or firmware? I am getting them too, pretty often and the story is same - different roms, nothing changed.
Have you tried This or This?

Need more information. Are you overclocking too high? Undervolting? Flashing back and forth between kernels without reverting some of the files they change? Mixing 3.32/3.33 firmwares and ROMs? Matching radio/RIL combos? Restoring old data through Titanium Backup? There's a whole bunch of stuff that could cause reboots TBH.
Have you tried running stock (firmware, kernel, ROM, radio) for a few days to see if the reboots keep coming? If they do, then it's your hardware and you should look into warranty if you still have one. If not, then it's something you're doing during your setup process.
I've just been running rooted stock ICS lately and my phone has been incredibly stable. I did get some reboots last week, but it turns out they were caused by the recent update to Google Maps. I uninstalled the updates and the problem went away.
Had mine a year and never had reboot issues!
You know what I love most about this thread?
The complete lack of usefull information like logcats, last_kmsg, and other logs as well as kernel info, firmware info, UV status/OC status.
@OP get those things then we can help more
My guess is you've updated your gmaps. Anything that uses any oart of gmaps/location service is fubared on the last update.
Thanks guys for the replies. Well as suggested I have formated my sd card, super wiped (using ARHD superwipe script) and installed the viper 1.1 ROM.So far no reboots, and I will not update google maps.Have been changing ROM's like crazy, so this must have messed up my phone. I will post logcats and other info if I get reboots now.
Again thanks for all your inputs guys, was about to throw away my phone.

Hello everyone I have a HTC Sensation XE, which mounted Android jelly bean with Rom CM10 Kang Alpha, everything worked perfectly until one day the battery has reached the 2% and the phone is turned off, as there are no longer on, and connecting the power does not turn on no led, I tried to leave it attached a few hours, remove the battery for a while and I also tried it with a charged battery (my friend's) but to no avail.
Connecting it to the PC recognizes it as qhsusb_dload, (but can not find the driver)
I discovered that the qhsusb_dload mode means that the phone is a brick.
Now I wonder: is it possible that my phone is a brick just because the battery is completely discharged? or is it more likely to be a hardware problem?
In your opinion, support HTC notices that are S-OF?
When they call and ask me what I was doing with the phone, what do I tell him?
Thank you all! :good:

its because the battery drained too much (the internal power )
i may be wrong ..but thats my guess
Sometimes if battery drains to zero the battery goes into a deep sleep and this possibly is causing this. I lost battery down to zero once and no charging light or anything came on. I did not try to see what my phone was recognized at so I'm not sure about QHSUB_DLOAD but I do know it had no vital signs not even charging light! What I did was immediately put another battery in my device and it came back to life ! If you do have another battery put it in and see if this works for you. It worked for me! But like I said, I don't know if device was QHSUB_DLOAD or not because I did not test it. All I know is it had no charging light or anything! It's sure worth a try ! I wish you the best and hopefully this issue will be resolved soon.

I doubt if its a brick, What I think is that HTC put some code into the kernel and other things that means if the phone has run completely flat then it wont boot up until at least 40% charged - This is what has happened to me and lots of others

Very strange. What were you doing before the battery died? This could be an important factor in what is
Happening. Were you flashing anything ? Or changing anything ? Were you in the middle of anything? Very strange it would do this from just the battery draining ? I've heard of this happening to others also when battery drains to zero. It kind of makes me afraid of draining my battery to zero. I do wonder what exactly causes this. You say you tried a new battery and the charging advice given in posts and still no joy. I wish I could be of more help but I'm not even sure why this would happen .I do hope you get this issue solved soon! I wish you the best.

I also can not understand what happened.
Before the phone is turned off, I was playing a game. I was not fleshad it, touching it with sensitive data.
I flashed a Rom for weeks and everything worked without any problem.
I have NEVER done any overclocking the system.
The only thing I think is that it is a hardware problem and the battery was just a coincidence.
I think I'll try with the assistance hoping to be adjusted with the warranty.
I attach the phone to a sheet where I describe what happened, what do you think I can write to you to be as convincing as possible and do not put a check in the bottom of the story?

I tried this solution but when I run the script to find the phone (. / Brickdetect.sh) misses the phone and I can not go on.
Just tell the warentee people that the phone just simply died. I wouldn't go into the part about it being bricked if I were you. Then they can say you somehow caused it. Actually the less you say the better! Don't tell them its rooted, don't tell them its bricked just play ignorant and say it died and won't charge. They will replace it then. When they ask questions play as ignorant as possible ! This will work in your favor. If you go into the part about it being bricked it will raise a red flag up and likely they will blame you. Simply say it died.. ..it won't charge. .....that's it. I don't think you will have any trouble that way. And surely it will be replaced ! No worries friend. But between us how the hell does a dead battery brick a phone? Its bizarre. Now I'm going to make sure and never run my battery to zero again! It makes me worried. So strange don't you think ? Oh well I know they will replace it and all will be good. Please keep us posted on what happens OK. Best wishes to you and don't worry they should replace it without any problem.

That usb mode is for RIFF box resurection. Mode in witch u can flash bootloader, it must be done with riff jtag box! Trust me, i know what i'm talking about... For some reason, bootloader is corrupted. You can aks that in any mobile service shop that have riff.

I read somewhere that some batteries when brought down to zero or one percent have a deep sleep trigger that most chargers can't bring the battery out of and I'm wondering if that happened and effected the device somehow? Somehow bricking it? This is just a thought, I don't know for sure but it's all I can think of that could have possibly happened. Just guessing here but it's possible ? Perhaps? I can't imagine what else could have happened?? I now will try to never bring my battery down to zero. Just in case....it could be completely unrelated but it seems suspicious. Also having heard this happening before makes me wonder?? I do Hope you get your replacement soon and all goes well for you! Please do keep us posted on what happens and good luck!!

****** PROBLEM SOLVED ******
"I decided to buy a new battery from Amazon which didn't cost that very much. My phone is back to normal so it was my battery I'm guessing like the battery exploded because it felt all lumpy & stuff."
** Thank you everyone who left suggestions & answers to help me with my problem much appreciated! **
Okay I've recently rooted my Samsung Galaxy S 4G for about 2 weeks now & I am currently having some problems with my phone. I'm not sure if its my phone or the ROMs that I am flashing. The problem that I am having is that when I'm using my phone that has a full battery my phone just shuts off completely. I turn it back in on the battery is almost dying so I charge the phone. When its done charging I unplug it & continue to use my phone, but for some reason it keeps turning off on me. I can't use my phone at all because of this the only way I can use my phone is if its plugged in to charge. I thought maybe it was the ROM that I am using which was Valhalla FINAL so I flashed it again & I get the same result. So, I decided to download a different ROM which was HebrewValhalla3.5_AROMA & guess what I get the same result. I really want to use my phone, but I can't so if someone can please help I would really appreciate it very much!
So what do you think could be the problem is it the ROMs that I am flashing or what? Please give me some tips & what ROMs do you recommend? I really need anyone's help...Thanks

It's the battery.
Battery.....can buy em all day long @Amazon.com for $5.00
It can't be the battery because it works normal when my phone is not rooted

Its not the battery my phone works fine when it isn't rooted.

So you unrooted it and it works fine now?
Yeah it works fine like normal when it isn't rooted, but when I root it again it does the same thing

Well if you really wanna find where the problem is, assuming it's not the battery, try running on stock unrooted for a day, then flash just a rooted kernel, and then try a full rom.
Okay I will try that, but what would you recommend I'm kinda new to this stuff.

I would have to say its not Valhalla final because i am running it with no problems. I have 1day 12hrs 35mins on a single charge. With 38% left on battery. Simply rooting your phone would not cause massive battery issues. Gotta be something more going on.
just wanted to chime in. i was having the same issue, but my sgs4g has been rooted with froyo 2.2.1 since i took it to a guy to root it for me(i had bricked my first one ha!) when KD1 was still the thang. and just a few months ago i started having this problem out of no where, just as used described it op, except i haven't been flashing anything on or off it, and i thought it had to do with a shetty app i had installed. i put a 'new' battery in and had the same issue, eventually the new battery(which was a very sensitive 1500mAh i bought for $20 at a local phone spot) blew up when a gf sat on me while it was in my pocket. the batteries seem really sensitive, there's a warning label to not apply pressure to the battery and it's easy to do with the sgs4g. anyway i went out and bought a 900mAh from best buy for 40 bucks :"""( but it works fine now. battery slowly creeps to zero like its supposed to. i haven't flashed anything or changed anything app-wise, still rooted.
when i was having this problem i also found that there's a battery calibration app for when you flash a new rom, but it didn't help me. worth a shot when you flash a new rom though i reckon.
hope that helps!
Sensitive? Really? Lmao
That's a load of crap.
I have 4 batteries that i charge on a continuous basis with an external charger and 2of them have been thru hell and back and still work as good as new. And for your info battery calibration apps do nothing good for your battery.
I'm not saying they don't go bad cuz I've had several that have....but sensitive? I'm not buyin that.
I am an ironworker and keep my extra batteries in my pocket all day every day and always have one in the charger.
As for rooting your phone causing the battery problems.....not buyin that either....that my friend is in your head....or there's more to it than your telling us.
