I really need help on this issue!!! I switched from a iPhone 4 back to a nexus s and I was taking the micro dim card adaptor out of the nexus s and 2 of the pins broke. They are not just bent they broke off completely. I was wondering if anybody knew a fix or a workaround that I can use to get my phone working again.
Here's what it looks like:

My Xda/Qtek's charging slot is loose or bent and as such I am now not able to charge it or synchronise at all. Brought to the repair shop and was told that I need to change the whole mother board as the slot is attached
to the board and it is as good as getting another one than to fix it. Seems to me that the 2 pins in the centre or the slot is bent and I cannot get the connection on when I plug the charger in unless I twist the charger to one side I then get the yellow/orange light which indicate charging.
Appreciate if someone could help fix it. Cheers.
The charging socket is part of the mainboard, I have had this in the past with ipaqs, I got a jewellers eyepiece and a very slim pin and managed to get them lined up again, I am sure there was a post today about this very problem.
Thanks for info. I managed to strip apaart the xda and then soldered the
loose charging slot. It works fine now and I save having to pay for the replacement of the main board which is not worth it and also the service
costs.
help for newbie pls?
Hi, I currently have the same problem. I also want to try the solution that cruisin-thu suggested, unfortunately, I'm not much of a techie and I'm afraid that I might damage the mainboard if I don't know which parts to move. Does anyone know of any sites that have a picture of the xda II mainboard? I'd really appreciate the help.
Hi everybody,
some days ago my Macbook PSU fell on the screen of my beloved Nexus 5, crashing it without mercy. I bought a new screen and proceeded to change it,.
Opening the phone I discovered that the PSU fell exactly on the connector for the 3G antenna cable, bending it and disconnecting it from the mother board... i reassembled the phone anyway. Now i have a nexus 5 with a shiny new screen but without 3G connection.. 2G works fine but it's quite frustrating, 4G still isn't a viable option here in Italy.
Do I need a new motherboard or there is anything I can try to fix that? I still have the small metal ring that fell from the motherboard, and the connector on the cable looks ok
Or maybe I can try to sell my N5 and buy a new one? How much could mine be worth, without warranty and without 3G?
Thank you to anyone wishing to help!

hi,
i recently bought a magic-sim dual adapter but having trouble installing. The problem is with the sim that goes into the phone
when inserted, the other sim is on the inside of the tray (towards phone)
this is it http://www.magic-sim.com/product/id...ICRO_SIM_DUAL_SIM_ADAPTER_for_LG_NEXUS_5.html
any help appreciated
Don't know if this will help, but looking at the picture it seems the flex cable needs to wrap around and under the sim that goes into the phone.
Micro sim adaptor got stuck in the sim tray of my 2 year old nexus 5 (yes stupid mistake) but I very carefully followed instructions by droid life and recovered the sim tray. But now phone doesn't recognize the sim anymore...
I am sure either the pins are damaged or have loosened leading to no contact with sim... I think my options are:
1. Try to add a piece of shim to the sim tray to create better contact - should this go above the sim or below?
2. Dissemble the phone following ifixit videos and try to solder the broken pins - i don't have any soldering equipment and its been ages I did something requiring such precision
3. Buy a new motherboard sim tray and replace - does this also need soldering?
4. Buy a broken nexus 5 and do the same as above
5. Or use the phone as an android pod.
Any suggestions appreciated!
I have zero fine soldering skills. I called a few cell repair shops and, even though they will replace power buttons and USB ports, none would replace the sim card tray because there are very fine components and solder points on the other side of the sim tray. Had to buy a phone with a busted screen to use in the phone.

Thanks for replying. Did you follow any particular guide to replace the motherboard + sim tray like iFixit teardown etc.?
I am not an electronics engineer nor a DIY expert and hence a bit worried that I might damage something else in the process and make the phone even more useless...
Replacing the motherboard was very easy. The sim tray, wi-fi chip, memory, etc. are all attached to the motherboard. The sim tray and motherboard are not separate pieces.
It's very easy once you watch a few Youtube videos about removing the plastic back, removing screws, etc.
Hi!
Last week I damaged my display of my Nexus 5 and therefore I decided to change it with this guidance, which worked really good.
But now I've the problem that my Mic and my internal Speaker of the Nexus 5 doesn't work anymore ....
That's why I thought about buying a new Mic and Speaker for my Nexus 5 to replace the "old" ones.
I found a new one on Amazon (Microfon + Speaker).
But I'm not sure if I should replace this one.
Does someone of you had this problem also?
Thanks a lot for good tips and for your help,
Maze-M
Did you check all of your connections? It's possible that the USB flex cable was damaged during the repair process.
Is there any method to test if the cable gets damaged during the repair process?
All you can really do is examine the cable closely for any breaks.
But isn't it possible to have a look at any errors in an Log-file? Or to look in the output of dmesg?
