Is a Ics bricked kernel for sense or a nonsense Rom.a orc bricked kernel is a sense kernel correct?could someone please explain how to tell the differences.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
No, I saw Bricked only for Sense.
For the difference I do not know the exact changes. Probably in the driver files and settings for HTC made stuff.
Thanks that good to know so basically bricked kernels are only for sense roms.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
Yes, correct. For more information visit: http://bricked.de/
That's not right I ran a bricked kernel on cm9 nightlies and that's a aosp Rom nonsense.

This does not mean that you can not run CM9 with a sense kernel.
I ran CM7 with a sense kernel and vice versa on my desire - but that combination was causing issues and depending on ROM - freezes.
But for the Sensation it is a bit different - I remember CM9 with the stock ICS Sense kernel running, so maybe bricked is universal, you should ask the dev

The developer of the bricked kernel has yet to release an aosp kernel... So if you infact did flash his kernel on an aosp ics rom then it was either his aosp gb kernel, or his sense kernel! Either of which will likely not have full functionality! So you come here and asked questions and receive the answers and then tell us we are wrong...
I'm sorry I was not aware that you can run a sense bricked kernel on aosp roms sorry.and that's for the information.

Is it true that a Irc kernel is a sense kernel?what does Irc and gb bricked kernels stand for?and as of now bricked kernels are some what universal.

Hi, does anyone know if faux or bricked kernel builders are working on ICS kernel?I just loved their work on gingerbread
I think it's wrong thread, u should ask in Q&A. As far I know there is no source code so they can not work on it. SebastianFM has hex modified stock kernel for ICS builds.
Q & A should have been a better place to ask. I'm on SebastianFM for ICS 3.30.401.1 and is running smooth as hell.
My guess would be that these devs will create a kernel once the source is out officially. That's what I remember hearing n their threads a while back. Everything is looking like we should get an ics update by end of march. Let's hope..

No source code = no custom kernels (with the obvious exception of SebastianFM's hex edited ones)

When the official ota is released will the ROMs be any smoother/different? I want to switch to stock Rom(sense eats up my battery) virtuous inquisition is only senseless. I want a completley stock Rom.... If so any idea of when this will happen? I love sense, just not the battery life
Sent from my insertcoined Sensation 4G with Beats Audio
The official OTA has already been released, ROM's like ARHD 6.5 are based on it.
But the official ota is also only in certain areas right now, but there r some stock roms out there already. Just browse the development section
I know but I don't want sense... And most are just sensless though... The only true stock I've seen is virtous Quattro but its out dated
Sent from my insertcoined Sensation 4G with Beats Audio
There is never going to be an official stock or AOSP ROM...

You do realize that ANY stock rom for Sensation will come with sense don't you??? I only ask cause you state sense eats the battery but stock will come with sense as well. Not to mention bloatware that will probably use some battery too.
If you are looking for battery saving stuff, you are better off with a modded rom from some dev here.
Actually rooted roms run way another and faster than stock roms since must if them are stripped of bloatware and other ram eating applications.

Yeah, which? I'd like t know... There are some, unfortunately they all come with something broken, I wouldn't consider them super stable yet! Correct me if I'm wrong but CyanogenMod isn't even available for the sensation! (I think I'm wrong.. I think it works but tons of bugs. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong!)
Senseless Roms don't count either
Sent from my insertcoined Sensation 4G with Beats Audio
You're confusing people with the terminology you're using. Official means from the manufacturer and stock just means untouched. With HTC being the manufacturer any official stock ROM will come with Sense.
The real point is when HTC release their ICS kernel source and drivers, then developers can really get to work and hopefully release fully-functional AOSP ROMs.
Ok sorry for the confusion..
I mean like a Rom that's ICS with no sense... But not a senseless Rom like inquisition...
Sent from my insertcoined Sensation 4G with Beats Audio
of course HTC won't release it OTA. Because they're always with their Sense. Maybe they will update to sense 4.0. but not to AOSP.
u can wait or try the avaiable CM9 though

Has anyone had the same problem.I was running cm9 nightlies with bricked kernel 3.0-v1.1 badass kernel that tops out at 1944.I had it set at 1.512-1.782 and it was so slow I couldn't even get 2 mbps downloading speeds.my sense Rom with a faux kernel gives me 9.90 down and 2.75 up.I can't figure out when the barebones cm9 nigjtlies Rom was so slowwww...

If think you need to go back to thekernel thread and read where it says it is for sense based roms... This is the 4th or 5th thread you have started today asking about bricked kernels and it is getting out of hand!
Please keep all your questions in one thread rather than opening multiple threads...
I completely understand and I apologize.

Ok... So i just flashed the new Mik version of sense 3.6 ics... And I'm slightly confused. The kernel version shows 2.6.35... Is that a modified GB kernel or a fully ICS kernel? A friend of mine said it's modified GB... And if so what makes it GB? (wasn't sure if this belonged in Dev or general so posted in general lol)

I believe that GB is all based on the 2.X.X series of kernel, whilst ICS and JB are coming from the newer 3.X.X series. There were quite a few changes in the mainline Linux kernel around this, which I expect is also true of the Android kernels (since they are very very very very similar).
If you haven't already then you should try CM9, it's based on ICS. Might not have the SenseUI stuff you like, but I found it to be an incredibly smooth OS.
The Sense 3.6 Kernel is a modified GB Kernel, just like the poster above me said. Most of our ICS Roms all have 3.0 Kernels. MikXE can have a Virtuous 3.0 kernel, but it has not been built.

Maybe this will make Sense 4 ROMs for the pyramid fully functional.
The VilleC2 codes are listed as One S but the build number for them are 1.11.xxx.xxx

Hi Namit1994,
You didn't reply to my question in thread about my kernel.
Why you think that Sense 4.0 based ROMs (e. g. ViperS) aren't fully functional with kernel based on HTC Sensation.

for some ppl, just like me they aren`t fully functional, as MHL link support is missing. So there are ALMOSt fully functional, but not in 100% hope that`s what OP mean
well, i'd love to see sense 4 with STOCK kernel.

I thought porting the VilleC2 kernel would enable features like the picture taking while the phone is recording a video. I don't know much about kernels so I was just making assumptions.
