Kernel version question - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

Ok... So i just flashed the new Mik version of sense 3.6 ics... And I'm slightly confused. The kernel version shows 2.6.35... Is that a modified GB kernel or a fully ICS kernel? A friend of mine said it's modified GB... And if so what makes it GB? (wasn't sure if this belonged in Dev or general so posted in general lol)

I believe that GB is all based on the 2.X.X series of kernel, whilst ICS and JB are coming from the newer 3.X.X series. There were quite a few changes in the mainline Linux kernel around this, which I expect is also true of the Android kernels (since they are very very very very similar).
If you haven't already then you should try CM9, it's based on ICS. Might not have the SenseUI stuff you like, but I found it to be an incredibly smooth OS.

The Sense 3.6 Kernel is a modified GB Kernel, just like the poster above me said. Most of our ICS Roms all have 3.0 Kernels. MikXE can have a Virtuous 3.0 kernel, but it has not been built.

Wow I forgot i posted this... I've run literally every ICS rom on this site now... Thanks for the info guys mods can delete this post

GB Rom with Sense/OC?

Im trying to find a rom but I cant I want it to have OC and Sense and have Gingerbread can anybody help me out?
there isn't one yet. All the sense based gingerbread roms, are based off of the leaked desire hd/desire s rom, and source hasn't been released yet, hence no kernel development.

So is there anyway to port a Desire HD Kernel to Inspire 4g?
They are ported for froyo not ginger.

[Q] What Roms are you waiting for?

Since the current break thru on Fr3vo and soon Fre3dom.
My excitement level is getting higher and higher everyday.
Don't get me wrong I am enjoying what I have at the moment.
I have had no issues at all with my Sensation.
But XDA and being an owner of the HD2 I have become a flashaholic.
I am wondering what roms everyone is waiting on?
I personally can't wait for a Cyanogen or MIUI Rom to flash.
And you?

AOSP 2.3.4 ROM of some sort, CM and a deodexed bloatfree version of 3.0.

we have a winner!
same thing for me, the optimizations in 2.3.4 would be quite the boon for the S4G
Anything Ice cream sandwich based.
OP said it already... CM7 (!!) and MIUI. I'm switching over from a G1, so I'm looking forward to MIUI just to play with, but CM7 as a daily driver. Can't wait!

same here, cm7 will probably be epic
Villainrom!
Would love to try miui sometime.
Else, just a very very clean rom like CleanDhd was for the Desire Hd.
All bloatware removed, as clean as it could possibly get
One of these days pretty soon I'm going to do a deodexed bloatfree Sense 3.0. First HTC phone for me, but I've gotten to quite like Sense. Just needs some optimization though.
Maybe a quicker kernel too.
CM7 will do for me... Or any rom that does not use allot of battery to run
Bring em on...all the great cooked dinners by our chefs! Happy Flashing
I am looking forward to CM7

me too.
Looking for a Sense-based rom that is optimized.
Might install CM7 on it to play around.
But right now, I am pretty much used to Sense.
MiUi = Best ROM for performance + functionality + eyecandy. (those Chinese know their ****)
If no MiUi then CM for sure!
I like Sense, but it's not the most practical.
I agree. I have always had CM7 on ny HD2.
Then I got the Sensation I tried out a MIUI Rom and love it.
I'm wondering why I never with MIUI as a daily runner before.

Difference between a sense and aosp bricked kernel

Is a Ics bricked kernel for sense or a nonsense Rom.a orc bricked kernel is a sense kernel correct?could someone please explain how to tell the differences.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
No, I saw Bricked only for Sense.
For the difference I do not know the exact changes. Probably in the driver files and settings for HTC made stuff.
Thanks that good to know so basically bricked kernels are only for sense roms.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
Yes, correct. For more information visit: http://bricked.de/
That's not right I ran a bricked kernel on cm9 nightlies and that's a aosp Rom nonsense.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
This does not mean that you can not run CM9 with a sense kernel.
I ran CM7 with a sense kernel and vice versa on my desire - but that combination was causing issues and depending on ROM - freezes.
But for the Sensation it is a bit different - I remember CM9 with the stock ICS Sense kernel running, so maybe bricked is universal, you should ask the dev

The developer of the bricked kernel has yet to release an aosp kernel... So if you infact did flash his kernel on an aosp ics rom then it was either his aosp gb kernel, or his sense kernel! Either of which will likely not have full functionality! So you come here and asked questions and receive the answers and then tell us we are wrong...
I'm sorry I was not aware that you can run a sense bricked kernel on aosp roms sorry.and that's for the information.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
Is it true that a Irc kernel is a sense kernel?what does Irc and gb bricked kernels stand for?and as of now bricked kernels are some what universal.

Cm9 nightlies Rom slow with bricked kernel

Has anyone had the same problem.I was running cm9 nightlies with bricked kernel 3.0-v1.1 badass kernel that tops out at 1944.I had it set at 1.512-1.782 and it was so slow I couldn't even get 2 mbps downloading speeds.my sense Rom with a faux kernel gives me 9.90 down and 2.75 up.I can't figure out when the barebones cm9 nigjtlies Rom was so slowwww...

If think you need to go back to thekernel thread and read where it says it is for sense based roms... This is the 4th or 5th thread you have started today asking about bricked kernels and it is getting out of hand!
Please keep all your questions in one thread rather than opening multiple threads...
I completely understand and I apologize.

Sense 4.0

Are there any sense 4.0 roms available?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA
Yes but only for the one series. Ours will never have sense 4 as its a pain to get 3.5. O won't use any 3.5 as it requires flashing radios that are not tbolt
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
Huh? We will see sense 4 once we have an official t bolt ics leak or ota. The problem is atm that we dont have a ril to use with ics roms so data will not work. As far as 3.5 goes.... Eternity works just fine. I dont have a clue what you are talking about with the radios coming from a different phone.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Totally agree. We have 3 sense 3.5 roms, all run fine and NONE require non thunderbolt radios. ICS will have sense 3.6 when it comes, but devs will likely be able to port as much of sense 4 as the thunderbolt's hardware allows when our ICS source is published.

Wrong, uses the same radios as ANY GB thunderbolt ROM. We don't have 4.0 because we don't have a working ICS ril yet. We won't have anything ICS with working data until we get one
Believe what you want but their are clear warnings on the faq on how to install and that not flashing the correct radio for a sense 3.5 Rom will brick it.... So no sense 3.5 should be used.

It says nothing of the sort in the eternity faq.... It says any gingerbread radio will work. Which makes sense because you could brick by flashing a froyo radio to a gb rom anyway.

You can't brick this phone flashing any radio made for it, as long as the download isn't corrupt. Worse case using the wrong radio with a rom is a boot loop or no working data.

Just in case anyone missed it, ICS will probably NOT have Sense 4.0, the OTA version will most likely drop with an earlier version and update to Sense 4.x in a few months or so. At least that's what's happened with other phones that got OTA ICS updates.
One other note: Some folks on other HTC phones have expressed disappointment with ICS because with sense 3.x it looks/acts very much like Gingerbread.
The key is patience.
I'm sure that ICS with Sense 4.0 WILL be coming to the T'bolt and, if you're under 25, possibly within your lifetime!
I only see sense 4 on this phone through rom development. I don't think htc sees it functioning well enough to please their pallette. We didn't even see an official sense 3.5 so I don't expect there to ever be an official sense 4.

ill working on porting my inc2 sense4 roms to the tbolt, though until you guys get an ics leak (inc2 had a china one) and get the 3.0.16 kernel camera isnt happening (rom will work sans camera w/ .35 kernel and hacked ramdisk)
and lte is no guarantee, but i have some experience editing RIL (got cdma working on inc2 miui4) so we ll see

memory doesnt make a difference...the sensation and rezound have a gig of ram and they only get sense 3.6...sense4 (full) is reserved for the one series and inc 4g currently and sense4a for the one v
all phones that werent native ics that are getting upgraded are getting the same sense 3.6...although the rhyme/bliss is getting a version of 3.6 similar to their previous 3.5 (ive seen the screenshots)

So you read that on eternity faq? Because what I read gingerbread radios only. Please post a link to the forum you got this info from for future reference. Oh and nitsuj you are an awesome dev maybe you could help get data working on our ics roms. From what I've read about our ril is that it's tricky because we have svdo which allows for simultaneous voice and data and it makes the ril more complicated than others.
