I'd recommend any of SanDisk Mobile Ultra MicroSDXC Class 10 UHS-1, I'm using it and it's way better than any MicroSD i have every used before.

have you formatted the memory when you first put it in your device? try to backup your files and format it again then restore your files, if there is no difference in speed, go for class 8 or 10, but a class 4 is fast enough. make sure you unmount your memory properly
Lol class10... here in Brasil it would be soooo expensive. Using class4 32gb

Is there any difference in the read/write speeds of these two cards? Since I'm only using about 4G of the SD card on my HD2 (part of which is for the system ROM to run DL's DesireZ port) I think it makes sense to use the faster of the two cards in my new Inspire, but I'd go with the HD2 16G card if they're the same just to give me the extra room if I ever need it.
Look on the SD card for a number with a half circle around it. This is the speed of the card. For everything except moving apps to SD a class 2 is fine. Class 6 is what I have and I have no issues with slowness.

I agree with Gunnyman. Look at the class of the SD first, then choose accordingly. I would recommend a class 6 or higher if you can, and a class 4 minimum. Class 6 and 8 seem to be the sweet spot for people wanting to buy a new card without breaking the bank, and are perfect speeds for doing anything on the mobile device.
Where would most of the speed increases come from anyway? I have a Nexus 1 and it pretty much has to have a micro SD card in it; I move as many apps as I can to it and everything runs pretty fast now.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I have a class 6 8G that came with my Inspire, as compared to the class 2 16G that came with the HD2. So I guess I'll stick with the 8G.

Same here, so I just use the 16gb from my HD2
Mine came with a 8GB Class 4, I then put in a 16Gb class 4, and it worked great and then found a great deal on a SanDisk 32Gb class 4 and that is what I have in the phone and it works great.
Got my 16GB MICRO SDHC card and I love it.
Got my memory card from Walmart. I got it for $10 with tax because there was a pricing mistake on their part
It was on the correct hook and UPC code matches the product. Regular price was $39.
SANDISK 16GB CLASS 4
It also came with MICRO SD to SD ADAPTER
I was debating getting a 32GB card but the 16GB is plenty for me for now.

Nice man that's a pretty good deal. I ordered my class 10 16gig patriot from newegg for something like 40 I think , l don't like to buy stuff like that in stores because its way over priced usually. Unless you're talking Fry's they frickin price match from store and online like newegg,Amazon and tigerdirect.

Locally the highest you can get is class 4 and 16GB. For now it will be good until 64GB cards come out. And all the other prices for lower.

Usually when they come with a SD Adapter, they are fake. I bought a Class 10 16GB PNY from amazon for $33.

The 64GB cards are MICRO SD XC
The cards this phone supports are MICRO SDHC.
I love passing storage milestones, but don't get too excited, only a handful of devices currently have the architecture to support microSD cards bigger than 32GB, so make sure you have a compatible device before you empty your wallet. Don't have one? Don't sweat it, Your phone sucks. LOL

I have a 16gig A-Data class 6 that I bought from Newegg. It works perfect and I have no issues with it.

The truth is sdxc and sdhc have the same hardware and every thing else the only difference is the file system moving from fat32 to exfat which is an improvement of fat32 current used on all mobile devices and alot of limitations like only holding file of 4gbs
For all current devices all they need is a firmware update to work with sdxc but manufacturing company are introduction it like a new thing if u bought one and formatted it to ext4 or ext3 it would work on android or Linux
Or wait it exfat drivers are out for android
Just do some research and will see

You have two choises:
You look on your card. There should be a little number in a circle. This is the class specified by the company (if this is true is another question)
You use a very good sd card reader so that it will not lower the transmission rates of the card and measure the speed. The up and down transmission speed specifies the class:
Class 2: 16 Mbit/s (2 MB/s)
Class 4: 32 Mbit/s (4 MB/s)
Class 6: 48 Mbit/s (6 MB/s)
Class 10: 80 Mbit/s (10 MB/s)

im using class 4 8gig and the transfer rate is above average and im happy
so if yr happy no probs ,
i get minimum of 5-6 mbps.
For 8 gig card a class 4 is suffice, but for 16 gig, 32 gig class 6 or 10 works best as it needs high speeds for data read/write! Hope its clear enof! :what:

For anyone thinking about buying a Micro SDXC for their Photon Q...
I can confirm it works on my XT897! (See attached pic!)
Sandisk Part#: SDSDQUA-064G-U46A
This is the Class 10 card, not the cheaper class 6 card.
Nice! As of right now i dont have a need for storage that high so i'm still rocking my 16GB class 6, but that's definitely good to know.
Nice.. ima buy one.. did you have to reformat it in the phone? Or you put it in and it was ready to go?

I, too have a 64GB SanDisk and it works just fine. Only issue is it sometimes causes the phone to think the SD card is corrupted when I take it out of mass storage mode, but popping the SD card into my computer and running a disk checker tends to make that stop.

Yes, I did. Originally the phone said the SD card was corrupt (it had an exFAT partition).
I recently bought a galaxy tab 2 7" 8GB, but I can only use 4 of it. Would installing a custom rom give me more space? Its a shame that they really only give you 4gb

No, you will need to jump through a couple hoops and leverage your sdcard slot, by using a swap script, or an app like foldermount, gl2sd, or similar. Personally, i used the swap script when i was using 4.1.x, but now i use foldermount. The p3113 swap script is on these forums, and foldermount is in the play store, or the thread for it, which are in the android apps and games forum, or software development, i forget which.
Oh yeah, every option requires root access.

Just a quick question since it's brought up. What class sd card is suggested for doing this method? I've read that class 4 is better than class 10 for doing this, but that was on my Xperia Play. Just wanted to make sure before I invest in one.
Thanks.

I don't know if it is true, but I had a class 4 SD card on my xperia mini, and i when I bought a class 10 16 GB,the phone was about 30% faster with swap then class 4 with swap.
So I believed in classes ;D

I have a 32 GB U1 which U1=Class 10 fyi.
My tab has 16GB storage but only about 12GB useable so it would make sense a 8GB only has about 4 useable.
Sent from my GT-P5113 using XDA Premium HD app
Class 4 will never be as good as a class 10. I am running a Samsung Class 10 UHS-1 70MB/s read and 20MB/s write card and that is about as good as it gets. Anything higher is not supported by our device (read and write speed-wise you would be over-compensating way too much).
I read somewhere that when using the sd card for apps and the such.
Ah, here it is:
This higher class # = higher speed across the board is a bit of a misnomer. Lower class (4&6) seem to have higher random access speeds, so when pulling up files lower than 6MB, it may behoove you to have a lower class card. Seems handy when pulling up photo and MP3. If you're transferring large files you may see speed increases for things like full movies or apps. Is it worth 10 seconds every now and then? I'll let you decide.

Yes, it definitely gives u a lot more space because stock roms are filled with bloatware (pre-installed apps), which according to me are useless. If you flash a custom rom it is not filled with all that crap and will give u a lot more of storage like if you have an 8gb tab 2 u will get only about 3-4 gigs of free space on stock but if you switch to custom rom you will have around 6-7 gigs of free space.
Sent from my GT-P3100 using xda app-developers app
No one has tried repartitioning space from system to data? System takes up over 1.4 gigs, so with most ROMs your wasting a gig of space.
