Most OC kernels come with cwm anyway

Gallery3D? Every kernel can support it
Recommended kernels that already includes CWM are (1) Kyorakernel latest test version (CWM5), (2) Astrum kernel, and (3) G3MOD rebirth. But the MOST recommended kernel by me is Fugumod Just install fugumod v2.4 OR the ultra version, and then install CWM recovery (Download installer) through ADB

Hi. I want to overclock my i5800 but i don't want to install new kernel. I tried CM7 ROM and I liked more the original one.
So... Have any possibility to overclock without install a new kernel? Or... Install a kernel with ONLY a modification to overclock.
Since you are using CM7, you also have a new kernel.
The new kernel was required to make CM7 work.
If you also have Update 1 for Alpha 6 installed, I believe you can Overclock to 100 MhZ.
Dympy.
No. I'm not using CM7, I using a original ROM from samsung again. CM7 has a lot of fails at the moment.
I rooted my phone, so I can install kernels. But I don't want to change all kernel, only I wanted to overclock the CPU. It is possible? There is a kernel with the only change is the overclock?
First, you should flash new kernel ( recommend g3mod v2.2.1 OC). Then, install setcpu for OC. And link to download g3mod:
Code:
g3mod.com/g3rm/index.php?about=none
Yes, I know that if I install new kernel like g3mod I can overlock, the question is about don't change the original kernel....
Or the possibility to modify the original samsung kernel to ONLY open the possibility to overclock.
as far as my knowledge u wont OC ur process without install the kernel which supports over-clock...
You are saying that you want to drive a car at 400kmph but you don't wanna drive a veyron, and that's impossible
To overclock, you need to make some changes in the kernel, although it is possible to have a kernel with nothing more but overclocking, but why don't you use fugumod or g3mod.
I tried the CM7 ROM. And I don't liked the menus, the aspect, and the power button functions. I like how is from samsung, only I want more speed on CPU
I'm looking for the same solution! I like the original Samsung ROM, but I really want to overlock the CPU! I used Kyrillos' ROM v9.4, but I was not satisfied with it, so I've reinstalled the original ROM.
So pros, please give us a solution!

Flash a oc kernel with odin and keep your stock rom
Sent from my GT-I5800 using xda premium
on my test mobile I have installed the XXJPU stock ROM
flashed the G3 performance 1.9 kernel, works perfect
by default the kernel runs at 800MHz
install setcpu (root required) and you can adjust the cpu
so in two words:
stock ROM with stock kernel -> no cpu adjustment possible
stock ROM with other kernel -> set your cpu in a range you like
What non - OC ROM are you using and what's the best non - OC ROM you've ever used?
Also answer the questions if you use OC ROM's.
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App
I use the non-oc version of VIVEK's ROM v5.2 JPU. It's fast and the battery last more due to the latest fix made. If you want fast go for Kyrillos' ROM v9.3 JPU non-oc version.
For faster roms get the oc ones of each rom, but i don't recommend as the higher frequency will stress you cpu.
Try ether one and you will chose the one that sits you the best.
Absolutely kyrilos v9.3 + G3MOD v2.2.2 OC (with SetCPU)
but you can always use the Non-OC version of this kernel
non-oc than oc good
well i ve used many custom roms ..but i m on stock now with g3mod oc kernel .....
Hey Guys.
I have a question about which OC kernel is the most lagfree Kernel for Purumod. Is it possible to change Kernel without loosing data like the apps on ext4 partition? I use link2sd to put the apps on this partition.
Probably i can't post it in the official thread because i don't have the access for that.
Sorry for my very bad english. I'm a 17 years old german guy
Thanks for wasting your Time

well I'm not using purumod, but I'm using another froyo ROM and finding the g3mod 2.5 oc kernel working well. you can get it in zip or tar format.you won't need to do data wipe, but wiping cache is recommended.
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA
I highly recommend you to use the default kernel provided in Purumod! Fugumod is the most stable kernel for galaxy 3, and I hope you don't want to loss that awesome battery backup which is caused by the kernel
I too go with the fugumod
Not only for the battery backup but also for the 1366 MHz overclock.
In fugumod I got around 13 mflops per second (linpack) and in g3mod I got around 10.
Ass for your ext4 apps you wont lose them by flashing kernel.Link2sd creates a script in init.d
but the Fugumod is non OC kernel, right? So how to get on 1300mHz?!? Like you'd say??

Use fugumod ultra or bleeding edge. And you will not lose any data, but its good practise to wipe cache and dalvik cache after flashing a kernel.
Cheers

You need to download fugumod ultra to get 1366 MHz

yes, you can go for the OC fugumod but just notice that you wont get a better battery backup if you overclock :\

As I am on ics could you please check whether the link is fugumod or not yourself
If not you can download 1300 MHz version of it by raja4sure

You can use setcpu or tegrak to use those 1366 horses when needed or give rest to some of them and use 800
oc kernel
i now testing purumod rom 2.5
and my opinion is fugumod kernel is very good, but not enough optimal
changed by g3mod 2.5 oc kernel and the performance is amazing!!!
now i used main 200-600Mhz or 200-700Mhz and that is abundant!!!
i use data2sd and i maked file system is following:
DO NOT MODIFY THIS FILE, YOUR SYSTEM WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BOOT
mmcblk0p2 ext4
stl6 ext4
stl7 ext4
stl8 ext2
the speed is dizzying!!!!
Hi,
I have the rom revolution HD 3.4.2 on my tf101 and I would like to change the kernel. Which is the best for this rom? I tried guevor kernel but it doesn't work.
Thanks.
Any kernal ibwould use stock kernel because with tthqt rom stock works best
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Ok, thanks for your answer.
There should be no reason why guevors kernel didn't work. Raymans kernel is close to stock with the addition of over clocking and more governors if you are worried about radical changes.
Actually, it's just when I flash kernel in CWM (wipe data and dalvik cache), my tablet reboot in the recovery each time and I have to reinstall my rom.
edit: testymeh and harmony kernel work but not guevor.

The only other kernel other than the stock one ive used is Guevor v22.6. If that one didnt work as well for you then you should try his v1.1 kernel. Just install it through your custom recovery. Best of luck sir!
I flashed the kernel but when I conect to my PC, my tablet is not detected.
Someone has an idea?
I'm using guevor's kernel v22.6 with ARHD 3.4.2 and it's working fine.
No SOD no RR. Team Rogue touch recovery.
Thanks, works great
kernal is fantastic. ..but one thing that

For Fugumod, you can only use CWM 2.5 (click here to download), but if you really want both the kernel and the recovery, then PM "Arakmar" and other devs for more information about adding it to Fugumod kernel. I also recommend you to use Kyorakernel, it has CWM 5 with some other features.
