Is there a way to not show the google+ contacts? There are so many duplicates in my list its crazy
You can merge them by clicking on the contact and then going to menu and selecting merge contact, or you can go to the sync menu, click on Google, and uncheck sync contacts.

I have been trying forever to get the contacts on my phone (synced to my google account ) to sync up with my facebook friends. It will only sync a select few for whatever reason I cannot find. Any tips?

I had to manually associate each Google Contact with the correct Facebook contact. I did it through the built in "People" application.
If memory serves correct, you open a contact in "People" and it should show a broken link icon. Click on that and you can select the correct FB contact. After you select the FB contact the link icon changes to a "connected link" icon.
From there it should auto update status and pictures accordingly.
Ah I am using an AOSP rom so that might have something to do with it.

Go to All Apps> People> Menu> View. You can choose which contacts show.
Also, within the facebook app, once you sign in, hit the menu key and go to settings. I thing theres a setting for contacts there also.
Thanks for the response but it didn't work

You can go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All> Scroll down to Contacts storage, tap it once and select clear data. This will clear all of you contacts, so back them up first if you want to keep them for later use.
try settings>accounts & sync> fb> uncheck sync. then next time you log in on fb app click don't sync or only sync existing
Is there a reason that when you slect a contact and choose any of the options History, Activities or Media.... nothing ever shows up under those menus?
I thought it was supposed to sync with your SMS and facebook and show recent messages, sttus updates, etc.? And I do have my contacts synced with Facebook.
is this a breoken feature when running a custom ROM? Or am I just missing something?
Thanks for any info!
Anyone on this??

You have to sync with the integrated facebook sns and not through the facebook app from the market. If you go to add account you will see facebook under the integrated accounts header.

I am synced through there as well. As, even if I wasn't linked with facebook, I should still be able to see call and text history with my contacts... that's not showing up either. Thanks though...
Anyone else?

I logged out and logged back in on my Facebook account on my One S, and now my Facebook contacts aren't having their birthday displayed.
This had happened right when I'd begun using the phone too but somehow, until now, it had begun, and was displaying Facebook birthdays.
Is there any toggle button anywhere ?

make sure your app is sync correctly and dont forget to display the facebook on your contacts.
How do I make sure it's syncing "correctly" ?
Other Facebook stuff like "view Facebook profile" is displayed once I open the contacts. Just the birthday missing.

Have a look in settings then accounts and you should see facebook there.
Everything - Calendar, contacts and live feed is checked.
There is no other setting.
You have your birthdays displayed ?

Hi All,
This is my first post in xda-developers!!
Having an issue with duplicate contacts. I dont know how it happened but I have my contacts replicated around 5 times in my "People" app. I am using an HTC Explorer modded with Cyanogen 9 mod.
I tried some remove duplicate contacts app from play store but none is of use.
Please help me remove these duplicate contacts.
Thanks,
Starz
Your contacys are synced with google also so it shows two times one google.contact and one on your phone and maybe one on sim
So select the option to select what contacts to show and unselect google/phone try both

If you are on sense rom, use manage option and select de-duplicate contacts from People App.
Common way:
Login to Gmail
Just below Google Icon(Top left) you'll have "Gmail"- Click it and select Contacts.
All Contacts will appear(if you have synced to google account) .
In selection box, select "All"
Then Click on more option and use "Find & merge duplicates..."
It'll remove all duplicates
sign in to your gmail account. On the top left u will see an option GMAIL.click that u see an option contacts.click that your phone contacts which are in sync with gmail will open.click find and merge contacts (seen under MORE option).
also sync ur phone contacts with gmail account.all the duplicate contact will automatically gone.click thanks if this hel:goods
