But not on cellular network and not in that nice black theme. I'll give it a go.
Edit: works great ! Dropped it in system/app and it auto installed. Looks great in black theme and hd world over cellular network.

What will happen if i install and then there's an update available from the play store, will the update destroy the HD over cellular function?

I think YouTube has a higher quality setting tucked away nicely that is only on wifi. The differences between high quality ("HD" on mobile) and real "HD" are very small and also dependent on what video you are watching. It is nice however to have the option now that we have blazing fast LTE.

Movie tab not showing in Market 3.3.11 nor 3.3.12

I have a non rooted Inspire 4G running Gingerbread, it has the Google music showing now but not the movie tab? My wife's Captivate running Fryo has both though? I uninstalled 3.3.11 update and then found the 3.3.12 update apk, also no fix? Any ideas on how to fix, I looked and didn't see any other post, but apparently movies were out with 3.1 update and I've never had it this whole time.
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G using XDA Premium App
mine doesn't show movies either
ive the same problem with the market as well, its the most recent one too
I believe the Movies tab is region specific.
Maybe try to allow google to see your location or something.
I'm in the US and it's on my wife's Samsung Captivate.

Apparently Google support says this phone is not supported with video? My buddies Evo has it and I think the Sensation also. Wth

No DesireHD/Inspire whether rooted or not rooted has the movies tab in the market. Has nothing to do with being rooted or not or because of what region you are in. It is simply because you have a Desire HD/Inspire. Google or HTC never said why.
Here's my answer from Google .......
Hello Marcus,
Thanks for contacting me today. As it turns out, the HTC Desire is currently not compatible with movies on Android Market at this time, which is why you had trouble seeing the videos section.
Since you will not be able to watch rentals on this device, we encourage you to watch movies from market.android.com through a browser on your personal computer instead.
We appreciate your enthusiasm for Android Market Movies, and look forward to providing a stellar movie rental experience to you in the future.

Why don't movies show "rent HD" in play store

I was just wondering why when I use my galaxy nexus and want to rent a movie from the play store it gives me two rent options, HD and non HD. When I use my HTC One X, I don't see the "HD" option. Don't the One X have a HD screen? Does this mean the screen on my galaxy nexus is much better? Just curious.

If you own both you should be able to tell us which is better? But yes, the HOX has a 720p display.
Well yes I prefer the One X screen over the nexus. I was just curious as to why I don't get the rent HD option on the One X like I do on my nexus.

Very odd, maybe it defaults to 720p? I use netflix so I can't say much other than that it may default. Yeah... I tried to see if I could find resolution options, found none.

Doesn't work for me even after I hide root with OTA RootKeeper. This used to do the trick with my old Evo 4G. I wonder if the device/ATT itself is black-listed? Anybody with a clean unrooted stock device can try and see if Google Movies/TV works for them?

doubt it. they'll probably update it to 4.1.1, and then that'll be the last update we see from them.

I read this on a google news search might be BS but I'd love it. And most phones usually get at the most one or two updates small or big doesn't matter too the companies, seeing as how they would want there customers to upgrade their phones in the name of making more money.

i'm growing increasingly impatient with htc. Once you go Nexus nothing really compares after imo
I think that is the main reason why jellybean is so late. They are going to give us that one update and that's it.

Its a tough call for me. Nexus devices are supported pretty darn well. I mean, nexus s got jellybean and it can barely run it. (read run it smoothly for longer than two weeks)
But on the other hand, I tried a phone with no sense available, and I realized how much I liked sense (even though I'm only on it like half the time)
But my point is, sense is the slickest, most coherent ui overlay, and that has got to take time to do properly. Yeah, yeah, they drag their heels so we upgrade...but in all fairness, I do think they put a lot of work into it.
I think in the end I've decided that a stable version of sense is worth two of aosp. That's just my personal opinion.
After a decent aosp jellybean was released for desire z, I found myself still running gb sense 2.1. It was just a great OS that was hard to fault.

ATT is run by an arrogant ahole who only cares about the stock price(Randall Stevenson I'm calling you out). Why actually spend money on getting us JB when he can continue to line his pockets. "Eat the rich, its the only thing that they are good for"-Aerosmith
Couldn't be truer. Do nothing paper pushing thieves. He cost att billions in the failed tmo merger and got a 20+ million bonus and then they re-elected him. Ponderous to say the least. If anyone of us cost their company billions, we would be fired and probably brought up on charges.

8mpxl Camera Comparison

I've been wondering about the camera quality of different HTC phones. I've used a desire HD, Sensation 4G and a HTC Vivid and all those had 8mpxl snappers , I've ordered a one x off ebay and it too has a 8mp camera, (camera in One x is loaded with features though) Are there any real difference in quality?
I've been using xda for over a year and today I thought why not be part of the community. So here I am,
Don't you remember what HTC kept yelling a few months back?
Pixels don't matter!!
But seriously, you should notice a huge uptick in photo quality in comparison to those devices listed. I believe an HTC device that comes close, but not to par, with our camera is the HTC Amaze 4G, a little while ahead of the devices you mentioned.
Here's the HOXL thread for community contributions of their photos, you'll find these all over XDA likely in their specific device forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1639324
I'm guessing with the more popular international HOX, there's a way more active thread that you can use to aid your comparison.
Also, here's a comparison thread between the Sense camera and AOSP camera I started a while back, in case you're interested.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943160
As I have stated in various threads the HOXL has one of the worst cameras I have ever used. The color balance of the stock photo app is terrible regardless of how you set it - the skin tones are either too red at the default saturation or too gray one ticket down. There is NO happy medium, with the exception of blazing sunshine outdoors. You can make passable images if you either tweak the colors after the fact, eg with the mobile version of PS or with a photo app that gives editing options immediately after taking a shot. And the front camera is worse than useless unless you clean the lens at least once a week. I seem to be in the minority here, yet most people I would send pics to would tend to make similar comments.

Your opinion is definitely in the minority.
@OP
I've owned 2 of the phones you mentioned and the One XL camera is definitely an improvement. It does have some minor issues with low light and some indoor lights but it's still easily the best phone camera I've ever used.
The camera is good no doubt. But I miss using the image sense chip. Until there is a 4.2.2 version sense, I will not cone back. The updated stock camera app and frame work is awesome. However the generic android camera app is good too. In my opinion I think sense has the edge sense the software is built around the hardware obviously. That's just me though. But to non-photographers like me, the camera will suit you just fine and your draw will drop.
