[Q] Anyone know how toUnlock a Samsung Galaxy S that is phone locked? - General Questions and Answers

Hi all, proper random but i went out about a month ago now, got in a proper mess and randomly woke up with someones phone in my pocket, its a samsung galaxy s i9000, wasnt sure whether it was a mates or not so announced it on my facebook seeing if they would come forward, but no one has, so i must have found it, im not the type to steel, promise! i have an iphone 4 so ive taken it me being a complete w*nker and taking it from someone as an option. i was thinking may as well try and put it to use rather than just chucking it, its on a 3 network, but its not got sim lock, its phone locked, just asking for a password to get into it, ive spent an hour or so trying to find out if theres a way but havent yet come across a way, if there is one. Help would be appreciated

I have the same phone dude its simple, search threw here (in the i9000 section ,first you'll need to root it with Odin, after you have root go to market and download Samsung galaxy unlock and follow the steps and your done.
*very important once your rooted make a copy of your efs folder(contains your imei number)it can/will change depending on if you flash roms.*
Good luck

Galaxy S found

The other day i found the Galaxy s and dont use android cause i have a HD2 but was wondering if there is a way to reflash the phone so everything gets deleted off it, was gonna possibly give it to my brother or sell. I know Verizon uses CDMA as a band but is there anyway to use it for tmobile? Dont think so but someone might know more. Thanks!
first thing, but this is not a dev question, please post in the correct section next time to keep the dev section uncluttered
secondly, there is no way to get a VZ phone to work on tmobile. Two completely different network technologies. The ESN on the phone you found is probably blocked anyways
"Found" phone?
Might want to call Verizon with the IMEI and they can probably return it to its owner. Or the registered Google email address. Or...
5 Finger discount.. maybe be a decent person and call one of the saved numbers in the phone and try to find the owner.
Try booting into recovery and wiping the phone.

[Q] Getting my Samsung Galaxy S2 tomorrow

Hello everyone,
I am getting my Samsung Galaxy S2 tomorrow from a guy that has used the phone for less than a week. He told me that the phone is like brand new, no scratches, etc. I am kind of worried, because he told me that he installed the latest version of Cyanogen 7. He told me to NOT reboot the phone, because I am going to encounter problems ; he told me that the android setup (or whatever) is going to pop up. Also, I don't know what he was talking about, but he said he couldn't delete applications.
I don't know anything about android, is it possible to change the OS or even fix the issues he has mentionned?
Edit : He told me that he unlocked the phone, using an ''illegal'' application. Will the guarantee still work ?
If I change OS, is it still going to be unlocked? Or will I have to re-unlock it?
Thanks in advance,
heyangel
Yes it's possible. I suggest you take a look in the forums including guides regarding your new phone.
You've got nothing to worry about, enjoy the best phone on the market

Thank you for your fast and nice reply. I really appreciate it.
A friend of mine told me that it might brick, if I am unlucky while changing OS. I am really afraid, since I am paying 500$ for it. Is it worth it? Less than 3 weeks of usage.
Edit : He just told me he fixed the issue, he can delete applications.

[Q] Trying to find my phone and how to root it etc

Hi there guys im completely new to this, as only the other day my father told me about rooting my phone and upgrading the software as only now the software on my phone has started to fail me and I think its time for a change.
On the phone its model number is the Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9003 so I'm not entirely sure which phone to choose on the Samsung Android devices on the forums, also I was told there was a noob guide on here on how to root the phone and then being able to upgrade it.
I apologize if I have posted in the wrong area, but any help would be extremely grateful, as my phone keeps switching itself off everything keeps crashing and basically its just acting like a piece of crap.
Thanks again

Never mind ive found it and figured it out now hehe
Next time , do a search on the forums before creating a new thread .

[Q] Missing IMEI number on Galaxy S

Hi all, I am a complete noob and have gotten myself into a big hole.
I was messing around with my galaxy s to root it and install roms, I followed all of the instructions but I think something went wrong in the back up process and had no esf file any where. Now I have a phone that is stuck in flight mode and have been using it as an iPod basically.
I did this about 6 months ago and can't really remember what I did. I don't mind sending it back to Sammy if I need too but would rather not have to pay if I can get away with it. I know messing around with IMEI numbers is highly illegal but any help would be greatly appreciated. If it is of any help to the situation, my gf has a galaxy s as well, don't know if this would be any good to get any files I need but at the same time I am scared to ruin her phone. I know I am an idiot and I promise I will never play around again.
Galaxy S or Galaxy S 4G (SGH-T959V)?

[Q] To root or not to root

wrong placeHi,
I am new to all this so please forgive what's probably a repeat. I have had a browse but can't find an answer to my specific problem.
I got a nearly new note 3 on e-bay and only saw the 'doesn't work in UK' warning after I bid (I know, stupid or what, but I swear it wasn't there before I bis as I was looking out for it). Anyway, I decided to take it on the chin and do what I needed to do to make it work.
I read around, this site is great, and decided that I would need to root and was quite prepared to do so but, then the phone arrived and the confusion set in.
The phone doesn't ask for an unlock Sim password or have the screen shown in the 'How to... you youtube videos' I don't have to dismiss anything to get into the phone and play with it. It's connected to my home network fine and and I can play with it to my hearts desire. It does everything in fact except make phone calls (my Dad thinks this is hilariously funny, a phone you can't use as a phone hahaha).
When I do try to make calls it says it is not registered to the network but when I have gone into settings to check it says it is!!!
I don't want to go to trouble of rooting if it doesn't need it but, what do I need to do!?!
Also there is the new kitkat thing that's thrown more confusion into my little life, if I root will I get that and if I don't, do I or should I care?
What good is a phone that doesn't make calls?
Any advice, hints or tips with this would be great x
So implying from what you've written on nearly new note 3? So it's secondhand? Why not try to factory reset it? If it that didn't help might as well flash a new firmware on it before you go rooting.

I say root that sucker! Then try the app Region Unlocker from Chainfire so that you can make phone calls.

when phones are tagged like that in the UK (especially on eBAY) it generally means they are IMEI Blacklisted, therefore they won't work on any UK network ever.
If you are lucky, it's not reported stolen, cause if it is then there can be issues, I have seen people buy stolen phones and have their GPS on only for the Police to show up about it.
My advice, is go through eBAY and claim for goods not as advertised and stolen merchandise, the seller probably won't reply to the dispute and you'll get your money back.
Lol. Root it, otherwise what's the point of having a phone you can't use as a phone

root it
To maximizes capability of your Note 3... Root it...
