Bestbuy and one x version at 1.85? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

My return period end date is coming up and I have decided its worth returning my one x due to the 3 bad pixels on my screen.
Just curious if anyone recently has bought a one x from bestbuy and if it came with 1.73 or 1.85. All the bestbuys around me just got more stock in last week so I would think its possible that they are still on 1.73.
Anyone luck out?
Thanks

it is 1.85 I just got mine yesterday there.

Canada or US? FYI Rogers, Bestbuy, Telephone Booth, Wirelesswave all have the HOX with version 1.73. Just thought I'd let you the Canadian folks know.

are they ever going to release an update for Rogers HTC One X???

Easy answer ... No Rogers will take usually about 4 months after initial release before any update that's IN GENERAL. So maybe if were lucky September we should see an update.
They aren't the fastest on firmware updates. I'm rooted, bootloader unlocked and I've flashed one of the rom's on here. So I'm not holding my breath on Rogers releasing any updates. Also FYI their bloat software ruined the experience of the One X.

Ya I am personally in the States.
I guess at this point its luck of the draw

It absolutely is. They could have half of each, they don't know..

all stock recieved once the customs ban was cleared, are on 1.85

I have till the 21. I guess I'll wait till then to see if 1.85 is rooted. Also can't hurt to peak at the gs3.

[Q] Poll: Will you hold from buying a sensation untill it is S-OFF?

This is a poll to see how many people are waiting for news regarding the Sensation's S-OFF before buying
I really don't mind. I've used my HTC Hero with Stock rom 1½ years and that phone is slow compared to all the other ones. It would be great however.
My option isn't in the poll.
"No, I want to root and install a custom ROM, but I can't stand waiting for this awesome phone!"
Yes I'm holding off til unlock

I'm pretty sure this phone will be S-Off sooner or later.
I will buy when i buy it. Doesn't matter if S-Off comes later.
The earlier the S-Off comes, the earlier Dev team to optimize it,
The earlier my life will be organize and productive.. The better.
Hope this phone is good built. Then this will be Epic of my life,
Hope will last for 3 years i hope.
I'm still not convince about its built.
Im afraid will fall and break immediately.
but sexy she is. When it falls, hope she wont scar.
Sensation conspiracy theory...
The problem for me is as follows:
I could get a sensation from vodafone at retail price since last week.
What scares me is that HTC hasnt made clear what they will do with the bootloader.
What if they provide an S-OFF only for the unbranded units that will start selling in Europe next week?
That will be a problem for me...
Maybe that is why they are keeping silent regarding the unlocking of the sensation's bootloader.
They could be waiting for the vodafone exclusivity to end.
The same could hold true for Tmobile as well....
Any comments on this?
I already ordered the phone...so you know my vote. I dont mind waiting for a way to manually unlock the bootloader and install custom roms. Until that happens, i will still have a pretty awesome device...win/win
I just picked up the phone last night...I couldn't hold out any longer. My G1 and HD2 were too outdated and I found this to be a worthy replacement (finally). I CAN wait for the S-OFF.
Its going to be hard to wait for me too as soon as the sensation is sold unbranded in Europe...

I totally agree! I love custom ROM's, but this phone is just awesome!
Yeah I'm going to wait.

I'm trying to check for the "s-off" (volume down + power button) but its not doing anything.
This is something ive done before with previous phones. Don't know what's going on.

I'm in the same boat
Just been holding off till the exclusivity ends :/
Bought mine today (Branded T-Mobile USA); and I love my MyTouch4G with Cyanogenmod on it...
We at least need to get temp root soon so we can get some of this damn T-Mobile bloatware off... Damn thing has more fat in it then container of pure lard.
I voted yes to waiting. But tbh, if it isn't unlocked soon, I'm just gonna wait for something else later. No point in buying it if there's a better phone coming soon after unlock.
Side note: It doesn't hurt me to wait, but it hurts HTC to take to long.
I'd love to get it but I'm waiting.. canceled my preorder.
Apart from the ability to customise OUR own phone as we wish I need root as paid applications are not available where I live. I also need to be able to backup and restore my data incase of a factory reset ... etc.
Let's see if that happens before a better phone is announced.

I'm still unsure. I bought the Incredible S a couple of months ago and sold it 3 weeks later because it was s-on and no root/s-off solution was coming up.
Now I'm torn between getting the Sensation when it's s-off or waiting for the European Evo 3D. I like the Sensation design better but Evo 3D has better specs.
I'm just keeping my good ol' Desire for now and see what happens during the Summer!
Bought mine on Sunday 6/12. I don't mind waiting

HTC One X purchasing tip

I just picked up my One X and my friend who works at AT&T said that all the HOX already upgraded to 2.20 have a green dot on the side of the box and those without a dot are 1.85. And I'm lead to believe him because he held onto one without a dot for me and it's 1.85
Think it depends on where you live to because i stopped by the store near me in buffalo ny and the display models were still on 1.85 I asked the rep why they had not updated them and he was like there's an update lol
Sent from my Nocturnalized Beast
The one I just got from costco's website about a week ago still had 1.73 on it outta the box!
Just got mine from eBay today and it is 1.73. It won't ever nag me to update because I'm using straight talk.

Once they're updated, sure. But the OTA update just dropped last week. It usually takes a few weeks for stores to cycle through enough inventory to get new shipments in, though with the price drop, it might not take that long.

A bunch of people have already reported buying One X's with 2.20 out of the box at various stores, for several days now. Every store is going to have different inventory, sure. Some may have old stock, but there are plenty with 2.20 in the pipeline, and in stock at many places.
I blame the price drop. We've been selling HOXs at a 3:1 ratio over the S3 since the price drop.
Hey I know there are people finding phones with 1.73 or 1.85 I'm just trying to give someone some help to know what to look for so they don't end up with a 2.20 out of the box.

AT&T Warranty replacements: 1.85 or 2.20?

Anyone that got a replacement recently from AT&T care to share if they are sending phones with 2.20 or 1.85? I was given this as an option to replace my phone with but if it's being sent with 2.20 I'm very reluctant to go for a phone that can't be rooted.
There are rhymes and reasons as to why there is a rooting snafu after 2.20, I would say hold on for a few days

PROFIT !!!!!
I had a defective screen and had to return/exchange for a new one on 8/22 and it has 2.2 on it. I am pissed and eagerly waiting for a solution to root. I am guessing they are selling off the 1.85 firmware first, so if you are going to take a gamble, the sooner the better.
Oh yeah, my refurb came with 1.85.

My Galaxy S2's USB port died on me and I got the One X as a replacement and it came with 1.85. I got it on Tuesday this week if that helps.
A bunch of us from the i777 forums ended up getting replacement One X's each have been 1.85 units.
Just a touch off topic, but since this thread is about warranty I thought I would post here.
I bought my One X about 2 weeks ago so it is still under warranty. Would just going into the ATT store and saying it's over heating qualify for an exchange? Seems like there is a chance that I can end up with a 1.85. I'm not really sure how the warranty/exchange program works though.
Also, first post! I've been lurking for about a week and will try my best to avoid the more common noob questions.

I did my warranty exchange by calling AT&T. Not sure how it would go by stopping at a store. If you are still within your initial 30 days you should be able to get a replacement in store just fine.

I'm going to stop over after work. I don't quite know enough yet to go through and root, but I want to learn and want the option to do so. I'll update later with how it goes at ATT and if I get something other than a 2.20
*Edit: Went into ATT and had a nice easy change to a nice brand new ...2.20 HOX. Guess it will give me plenty of time to learn about Android before I mess something up.

My screen was defective and just got a replacement phone (it was still under warranty) today. Software number:
2.20.502.7 ............****.
Question......I need to send my defective phone back to at&t for the warranty. Am I screwed because it is rooted/unlocked bootloader with cleanrom currently installed? The problem with the screen is that it seems to be stuck on sleep.....I can BARELY see it if I shine a very bright flashlight on it. I hope I don't have to pay the $500 or whatever it is (if I should be asking this question somewhere else, let me know)
Thanks
i just got a replacement from at&t and its 2.20 firmware. i too was unlocked rooted and had a custom rom, but my phone was completely dead. no charging and no turning on. flashed clockwork recovery from rom manager for htc one x (gsm). it saying gsm i thought it was for our but its not. wrote the recovery partition over m y bootloader partition. and to answer the question below, yes you just might have to pay for it seeing that they can still power on+volume up and get to your bootloader seeing it as unlocked and tampered. in such cases you should ruu back to stock rom if possible before sending it in.
something to check for since you get a refurb when you get a warranty replacement, see if it says locked or relocked and check if the CID is 111111 fastboot get var cid.

[Q] What should I expect root wise (2.20)

So I'm asking for opinions here.
I just bought moved from sprint to ATT, and since I loved my evo LTE on sprint, I picked up the HOX on ATT. Literally bought the phone, came home, and immediately pulled up XDA to see how to root it, only to be severely disappointed after reading about the 2.20 news.
So I have 14 days to take it back and exchange it for another one. I don't mind waiting a few months for root if that's what it'll be, but if it'll never be rooted, I don't want to be stuck with it.
So what are your opinions? Should I return it for something else? or wait it out?
Nobody knows. Opinions are opinions. I'd return it and try to get an older one somewhere else.
Sent from my HTC One XL
at this point. i would return it. until after the jb release on hox or until the hox+ comes out.
if you could get one with 1.85 on it i would take it though.
If you can, return it and try again. But it won't be unrootable, it will get rooted eventually.

Asurion Replacements?

Has anyone had to get a replacement recently? I haven't seen a post or discussion on this recently and Google only brings up the 2012 shortage. Just wondering if they are sending S3's or switching devices on folks. If they are sending S3's, are they coming with the 4.3 locked bootloader and Knox. If so does anyone want to buy a refurb S3?
I can count on one hand how few times I've dropped my S3 since I got preordered it. I dropped it in the grass in my yard, face down with the extended battery, and the screen shattered. UGH!

I've seen a few people who said they got a replacement. Only 1 said it came with 4.1.2 and the rest came with 4.3. I'd guess you'd probably end up with a locked bootloader.
Maybe you can call asurion and ask them to ship you one with 4.1.2.

After upgrading to 4.3 and its horrible battery life, I went and complained to my local Verizon store, and they put in a request for a free (yes, no deductible) replacement and it came with the MB1 firmware!! Instantly rooted and froze SDM
And this was within the last 3 weeks
Dang... Sounds like my only hope is that the local store doesn't suck. Either that or that someone eventually figures a way around the bootloader. I know there's the bootstrap method but I've had pretty miserable luck with bootstraps soft bricking.
Guess I'll look into the HTC One, their latest update to lock it down hasn't been pushing very long. Any mention of the S5 having Knox?

It turns out that if you have a white 32GB GS3, they are out of stock. Your picks are a 32GB pebble blue GS3 or a 32GB white GS4. I guess it really doesn't matter since the bootloader would have been locked down anyways. I wasn't ever impressed with the GS4 but maybe I'll be able to sell it easier than an S3. I'm done with commercial Samsung devices, especially with this Knox crap. I'll be sticking to Nexus or GPE devices.
