I think that this is due Tegra 2 in our device

Yeah.. Tegra 2 is the main Reason!!
Having a Tegra Processor Really Helps in gaming, but, when it comes to ICS.. Its different

Let Samsung must know this thing that its so special device for each n every person who is having it. then only they will update it to ICS..I m after CEO of Samsung India while mailing him daily for the update..

tegra2 is still tegra 2 haha. Samsung doesnt wanna update R to ICS but rockstar knows that tegra2 + 1GB ram is a powerful combination... LG2x is only 512 MB ram... but 1GB is massive.
May payne is a great game and hope we'll get the high graphics version. GTA3 runs at max specs flawlessly.

By using Ardatdat's kernel & Set CPU we can over clock our CPU upto 1.3 GHz ...
i will also over clock my CPU when ever i am playing games upto 1.2 GHz and Under clock it to 816 MHz at normal time to save battery ...

Ardatdat's kernel is the one, most of us are using now with our phone, i didn't face any issue until now its working like charm... when you are playing with voltages there may be some problem like you said but with over clock and Under clock i don't think we will face such issues..
based on the ROM we need to select the kernel version, so which ROM you are using...

[Q]buy nexus s or wait for dual cores ??

Help needed!!!! I am really confused what to do , whether to buy a nexus s now or wait for dual -core phones .I just dont want to buy something for 20k that might be outdated soon.
Nexus s will pretty much run anything out right now.. Don't play the waiting game, get it if the price is right? It's technology.. Every few months there is newer and more expensive **** out
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
If you want to play the waiting game, wait for the next Nexus. I wouldn't ever buy or recommend a non-Nexus Android.

I love my Nexus. If you wait then you will still be seeing something else better come out in a few months. If you like the Nexus, then get it. If not then just wait it out.

Ya...thats what.Even i dont want to wait because my budget was around 18k, i stretched it to 20k(current price of nexus s in inr)...the budget is so strict that i cant even stretch it to buy sgs i9000(which i dont feel is worth buying when compared to nexus s)...and my requirement is that heavy (gameloft-ish)games should work smoothly ...which i think nexus s with its 1ghz humming bird procc & PowerVR SGX 540 would handle quite well atleast for an year or so ..and plus there is a chance that nexus s will be getting ICS ...so i think i should just buy it now ...and 20k for nexus s is a steal i think !
The nexus s is an awesome phone for the price now (320 € in Germany). I wouldn't spend almost twice as much for a double core.
Btw, I'm not sure where you're from but in the states when you say 20k that k stands for thousands. So $20,000 is a bit much for the Nexus S. I only paid $200 for mine

Gaming? Nexus S is never your wrong choice. Haha.
You can use Chainfire 3D on Nexus S to play Tegra 2 games,
you can overclock your phone using Trinity 1.576 kernel to maximize your game experience.
What more do you want when the 1.576 kernel give a same quadrant score (or even higher) than duo core phone such as Optimus 2x ang SGSII??
In conclusion, get me to help you when you got your nexus, I will give you all the necessary file/kernel/rom/apps for maximum gaming experience
I am a gamer (only when holiday,LOL) with 24 hours charging my phone
after personally trying both optimus 2x and atrix for more than 2 weeks each. " brother has atrix and i got optimus 2x from my friend to use it since he doesnt want it " got galaxy s2", i would go for nexus S
the reason is simple. this is all marketing bs. there is nothing that can run on galaxy s2 or atrix or optimus 2x that cant run on nexus S . everything runs perfectly fine on nexus S. no lag. perfectly fine.
the only thing that wont run are the nvidia games. but as far as i know. they are all been ported to other phones.
however. what broke it up was skype. to know that skype was released for video chat only on 4 phones and nexus is one of them. made me note something. i have to get that phone. not because of skype. but because clearly. its a dev platform. when skype tested their video call. they tested it on nexus. even with the mods. skype till now cant run video calls on optimus 2x and tegra. do to the fact tegra cant read some codes. i think mods are looking into it but i dont have high hopes at all. because this is not the first time dev get stuck on something like that. " same code "
if you are talking about dual core phones as galaxy s2. then this is another story.
GS2 is superior phone. there is no doubt about it. better and bigger screen. thinner, faster. but u will also get stuck with 2 things
- google updates... u wont get any till samsung give their blessing
- some problems running some games " again. some issue with reading codes. while this is being sported out by devs here, its still not perfect. "

where i can download chainfire 3d ?
also. i dont advise overclocking your phone. it shorten the lfie of your cpu/gpu.
i would definitely choose the Nexus S .. its a powerful beast ..
1, 1ghz processor is enough for everything
2, gpu 540 - can handle all the games - much stronger than the most used adreno 200 or 205
3, updates directly from google! - how fast your phone is depends also on the OS ..
4,you get comparable scores when you tweak your phone vs dualcores -sometimes even more
5,the chipset used in Nexus S has one of the best audio chips used in a device - regarding that Voodoo Sound - it seriously killed my ipod, my Hi-Fi at home .. i just use that ..
6, you want more? you can play 720p MKV on this hardware - you cant do that on most dualcore - coz they miss the hq mkv profile - diceplayer
7,skype video calls? here we go
8, NFC - the future is already there
u know google decided to make "the phone" and when they do one .. they mostly put all the best stuff into it from that "time frame" ..

I agree.
NVIDIA Tegra2 dual core : Video decoder is too bad...Hard to play H.264 High profile.
Snapdragon dual core : Video is not so good but can play 720p MKV using diceplayer.
Exynos dual core : GREAT Video decoder. it can play 1080p High profile.
if you have HDMI-out cable, your phone turn into video player.

Hope they port it for Mid range devices
Bought it for my Live with Walkman, and have to say that gameplay is quit good, overall performance is nice, but sometimes game a bit laggy, I think that is too low memory.
I'm having problems with the game. After downloading the additional gamefiles (approx. 450MB) and pressing next, it just transfers to a black screen. Nothing's happening, tried leaving the screen on for a few minutes, but still nothing. Anyone else having similar problems?
Running SGS II (international version) on CM7 nightlies #115. I know the latest one is #116 but #115 is much more stable. Though I'll try updating to see if it works.
Runs on my Optimus ONE (V, armv6). It has no sound during gameplay, and is sluggish.
But it runs, which surprised me.
Hi,
i have no problems on SGS2 (CheckRom+Siyah) and Desire HD (ICS Beta 7).

Galaxy S2 or Xperia Play?

Hey guys. I will be able to change my phone real soon and I'm kinda in a dilemma on which phone to get, the Xperia Play or S2. I'm planning to use my new phone for gaming LOL. Xperia Play has 1Ghz processor and 512mb of ram, but has that fancy looking controller. S2 on the other hand, has 1.2Ghz processor and an amazingly 1gb ram, to compensate for the controller, it is a ridiculously thin smartphone and a better processor. I'm looking for the smartphone which is optimised for gaming.. I want to know you guys opinion!

The device you pick should really depend if you really want to play a lot of games on your cell phone. I have both the xperia play and the T-Mobile galaxy s 2 that I use for T-Mobile.
The galaxy s 2 is really great phone that you wont be disappointed in because...
.1 gig of ram really helps multitasking (compared to 512)
.2gb of space storage compared to 512mb(really like 400mb for you to use)
. You can connect the phone with an HDMI cable to an HD TV with the help from an adapter.
The xperia play is a really good phone because...
.to play so many games from the android market, emulators that play Playstation 1, N64, SNES,NES, etc.
. It has surprisingly good battery for gaming.
* I like both phones but since I am on T-Mobile I use the galaxy s 2 more because of the 4G connectivity. If I could use the xperia play for faster internet I would pick that one. Pick the xperia play ONLY if you really like playing a lot of games on it like me.
Since the galaxy s 2 is newer compared to the xperia play it is technically better but since games on the galaxy s 2 are okay, they are better with actual hardware controls.
I hope I helped. Sorry for the long post.

There's 2 different S2?!?
I just did some research on it. It's model is i9103 right?
Wait. On the first quarter of next year SE will probably launch a new play, probably with their new NovaThor SoC, which is just as graphically capable as the Exynos, but the processor is a little worse, eveb though is still dual core.

The xperia has a more outstanding design but I would get a SGSII (if I wouldn't be in love with my Optimus 2X), as the lifestyle factor is much higher ;-)
sgs 2 cause of performance and look
sgs2 wins in all areas
SG 2 is better in performance, and overall, but Xperia Play is made for games so it's up to you, obviously is more comfortable to have the buttons to play the games, so in the end you will have to decide between that, overall performance vs comfort in a specific area.
gs2 plus if u have a ps3 or Xbox 360 you can connect it via Bluetooth.

Galaxy S2 allthe way...SGS 2 is better in performance.

Get the galaxy s3. Trust me. You will regret not getting it! In america, it has 1.5 GHz processor with 1 gig of ram. It's also quad core. Everywhere else in the world, it's 1.5 GHz with 2 gigs of ram. This one is dual core. This is currently the greatest phone available.
REMEMBER TO SAY THANKS IF I HELPED OR INSPIRED YOU IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks b.huss2, ognimnella, and agrabren.:good:
Agrabren and b.huss2 will be missed by us evo 3d cdma users.
Actually, the american version of the S3 has a dual-core and 2GB of RAM. The international version is the one with the quad-core and 1GB of RAM.
As for a gaming mobile, I guess the S3 would be a great choice. And there is also the Xperia Play, which is more like a real gaming cellphone and there are many games optimized for it, including PlayStation games. But I think it has a single core processor.

Go with a HTC One X with the Tegra 3. Many games are optimized for Tegra processors as Nvidia has exclusive connections with them.
u can try HTC evo 3D or SGSIII or HTC One X

Not true. tegra games actually make themselves play worse or with worse graphics when they detect you are not using a tegra CPU. If you trick the game into believing your processor is a tegra, then it will play with all the spoils.

Games on acer a700

Hi together!
Today I tried some HD games on our tablet.
I was trying dead trigger and the dark knight rises, both lagged a lot.
I tried with high performance but didn't help.
How are your experiences with games?
Edit: I just installed cpu master antutu and put scaling on demand. I think it's better now.
Perhaps someone else can try this out and confirm this.

Hi matey,
I've been trying Dead Trigger and that one worked just fine with me. Both saving and performance mode. Dark Knight Rises (and the Amazing Spider-Man) lagged for me too. Can't really tell if this is a hardware or software limitation. Wild Blood (also a Gameloft game) lagged for me too but then after an update that was solved. I installed Modern Combat 4, which lags a little too. Especially in the cutscenes.
That's why I'm going to try out the app you mentioned, let's see if that fixes some things. Thanks for that.
I'm really hoping Vorbeth (awesome person) is able to overclock the processor (CPU). He's already done overclocking the GPU. I think after he succeeds overclocking the CPU, things are going a lot smoother.
The problem is not the CPU. on High performance, the cpu score is even better than on the Nexus 7.
The problem that causes the lags is the high display resolution since the tegra 3 is only designed to run fluently in 1280x800.
Vorbeth's custom Kernel to overclock the GPU helps a little. But I think the bottleneck is the vram speed since the framebuffer on the A700 is bigger than on other tablets.

Can you elaborate on the vram? I'm not familair with that, really.
The TEGRA 3 isn't specifically designed for that resultion. Optimized seems more applicable, since the CPU just processes the stuff. Overclocking would in theory process even more stuff, so that will include data from the GPU to the display, I guess. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Edit:
I've installed AnTuTu Cpu Master, but what is "Go MaxSpeed Load"? It's default value is 85,

The vram is shared on the main ram which is DDR2 only on the A510/A700.
All other Tegra 3 tablets have DDR3 that should bring a bit more performance.
The A700 is basically based on the A510. The only difference is the display.
So the Asus TF700 should bring a better performance at the same CPU speed due to a faster RAM type.

Which version OS are you using?
In my experience, When A700 is 4.04 Dead trigger is fxxking lag.
After update to 4.1, all performance becom smoother

dark knight... I haven't try it.
But A700 is using full HD screen... not every game optimized for this resolution...
TF700 also will meet this problem...

mmmm,
wondering if we can lower the resolution to say 720p.... just a thought
I already had this thought since I got the A700.
It would be nice if it's possible to change the output resolution to 1280x800 that it gets upscaled to 1920x1200.
I have read up about changing the resolution on android and the key might be the kernel start parameters in the bootloader.
but also patching the display driver could do it.
If we change the kernel, there is no way back, only flashing the original kernel.
I think the best way is to wait and hope that the game developers come up with some solution, hopefully.
When I bought the HTC one x, the situation was similar. There were only a few games working. And now, all of the HD games work.

I really doubt that the game developers will come with a solution for FullHD tablets, especially not gameloft since they care ****-all about the A700 or the Tegra 3 itself.

The One X got supported as it was HTC's Flagship phone, selling quite well, Full HD Tablets don't sell so well, so they won't even invest the ££ needed to support the lesser known tablets.
They may support Full HD for the nexus 10, but thats not a Tegra device

i'm also on JB, i play dark knight fluently. However amazing spider man lags big time, too bad i liked the game and my son also..
I've flashed that GPU kernel maybe that solves dark knight.
I'm on JB (RV18RC01_EMEA_FR, build 1.052) and the games you talk (expect spiderman wich I don't have) run smoothly on my tablet.
Some games received an update that solve lag but Acer make the system better and better.
One game lag for me it's NFS most wanted. It is playable but the car seem to run slowly.
I regret that some big developer (Game Loft is the perfect example) don't support HD tablet and their games don't appear on Play Store.
But if this game are downloaded with a supported device (my Xperia S) and loaded on tab they work perfectly (Nova 3).
Envoyé depuis mon A700 avec Tapatalk
with Iconian 2.4 they do appear on the playstore, but Nova 3 is still unplayable slow.
Perhaps because I buy Nova 3 directly from Game Loft.
