Get the galaxy s3. Trust me. You will regret not getting it! In america, it has 1.5 GHz processor with 1 gig of ram. It's also quad core. Everywhere else in the world, it's 1.5 GHz with 2 gigs of ram. This one is dual core. This is currently the greatest phone available.

Actually, the american version of the S3 has a dual-core and 2GB of RAM. The international version is the one with the quad-core and 1GB of RAM.
As for a gaming mobile, I guess the S3 would be a great choice. And there is also the Xperia Play, which is more like a real gaming cellphone and there are many games optimized for it, including PlayStation games. But I think it has a single core processor.

Go with a HTC One X with the Tegra 3. Many games are optimized for Tegra processors as Nvidia has exclusive connections with them.

u can try HTC evo 3D or SGSIII or HTC One X

Not true. tegra games actually make themselves play worse or with worse graphics when they detect you are not using a tegra CPU. If you trick the game into believing your processor is a tegra, then it will play with all the spoils.

[Q] Tegra Zone not compatible?

I thought this phone had tegra inside. Why can't I download any tegra games (pinball) or use the Tegra Zone?
It's a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, not the Nvidia Tegra 2
Why in the world did I think this was a Tegra? Dang. Buyer's remorse.

if the sensation was tooted, we could play some (most of ?) Tegra games on our devices, unsing Tegra fix, Chainfire 3D drivers, etc
So far, and as I had no choice, I just found a "special" version of Pinball HD for Tegra2, that is compatible with non-Tegra devices.
So yes, I installes a warez, blame me, fire me, but I didn't have choice, I would have bought this game if my Sensation had been rooted and then I could get this game legally.
Tegrazone
Hmm i can install the tegra zone... and the game "Dungeon Defenders" works good...
i dont know why the tegrazone are @ the market 4 me )
games like samurai II vengance are only locked but playable with patches from XDA (i think)
you can install Tegra Zone, sure, but it won't let you install the games.
And to apply the patch you're talking about, you need root

Tegra 2 is arguably the worst dual core chip when compared to the snapdragon and Samsung dual cores, but yes, it has the best exclusive games.
I wouldn't be upset with having a Sensation. It's far better than the Optimus 2x and Atrix. More reliable too.
My Sensation is on its way. I'm surprised to hear that the Tegra games won't work w/ non Tegra phones. I don't remember reading that when I bought them. Had most of them on my G2X, but I didn't play them all that much though. I always seem to go back to Angry Birds.
Maybe I'll just sell those Apps.

Good to see you made the leap ickster - I couldn't get rid of that G2x fast enough myself - after four bad ones I was OVER IT.
Hey guy...Yeah, but I'm holding onto the G2X for awhile to see how it plays out. I still hold out hope for it. I picked up (held) a Sensy at the tmobile store today, felt pretty nice.....I think I'm gonna like it! Can't wait.....already purchased the hdmi adapter and spare batteries and a charger. I'm ready to go.

LOL... please elaborate, tell me you've at least done a little bit of research before forming an opinion like this?
maybe the sensation will be able to use The newly announced "Playstation Suite" that allows us to play touchscreen optimized playstation roms for like $20 or game or something crazy like that I'm sure
Some games like Dungeon Defenders will work because there is actually two versions of the game. The market checks which hardware you have and downloads the right one. I ran it on my MT4G and Tegra 2 tablet and it downloaded a HQ version on my Tegra 2 Tab but SQ on anything other. I know some games are strictly for T2 and will install on other phones (side loading of course) but will not run

[Q] What is the best GPU? (between today's dual core droids only)

I finally have enough money to buy a new dual-core droid and I have a few units on my list. I already made some research on other aspects and I'm left with just another question: What is the best GPU in today's dual-cores?
Please take note that I'm not interested in quad-cores simply because I can't afford them! And I'm not into tablets too. Please limit the answers based on dual-cores only.
The GPUs I'm comparing are the ff:
-MALI-400
-Adreno 220
-PowerVR SGX540
As I said, I already did some research but the threads I saw are all outdated. Also, we have a lot of phones that came out last year having the above mentioned GPUs so I'm guessing we have more accurate info now.
I need help. I'm not a rich guy, I'll be buying a phone with my savings and I really want to be satisfied with the device I'll be getting 'cause I'll probably be stuck with it for the next 3 to 4 years.
Your help will be really appreciated!
*Again just a reminder, I'm only interested in the GPU performance. Nothing else.
a galaxy s2 gt-i9100 its very fast it has a 1.2ghz processor Samsung exynos dual core 1 gigabyte of ram
no doubt, the powerVR SGX540, with the Adreno coming second (not a close second however lol, a far one).

See. That's why I was getting confused. In dual-cores, some say the MALI is the best, some say it's the Adreno 220, and some claims it's the PowerVR SGX540.
Is there any way to determine the best overall? I know they have strenghts and weaknesses but what I want is the overall best. If you can provide facts or links to support your claims that would really be appreciated.

I know it's fast. It's bigger brother, the Note, is actually on my list. But what I'm interested in is the GPU. How does MALI-400 stack up against Adreno 220 and PowerVR SGX540.

Actually, google is my best friend. I already tried googling for what I was looking for but I can't find the exact answer. I'm getting mixed reviews.
Thank you guys for sharing your thoughts. I really appreciate it. I guess what I'm looking for is real life performance. Of course a MALI-400 on a 800x480 screen have a performance advantage over a qHD/720p screen Adreno 220/PowerVR SGX540 though you might have to sacrifice image quality.
Soooooo I came to this conclusion: All the these GPUs are good enough for running almost every, if not all, apps on the Play Store. I was actually contemplating on whether to buy a Samsung Galaxy Note (5.3"), Xperia S, LG Nitro HD, and Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
These phones are all dual-cores with HD screens which I consider a must for my multimedia needs/wants. I ruled out the Galaxy Nexus first because of it's 5MP camera and non-expandable capacity. Next I ruled out the Nitro HD. It's a good phone but the around 3hours of talk time is a big no-no for me (I make a lot of calls). So I got down to the Note and Xperia S.
I now choose the Xperia S! Hooray! Reason: I believe the 1.5GHZ dual-core, 1GB RAM, Adreno 220, will be good enough to run almost everything smoothly for the next one or two years. Bonus: I get a 32GB internal storage, digicam quality 12MP shooter with excellent 720p/1080p vids, marvelous HD screen (though the SuperAMOLED is luring me towards the Note), and Sony's reputation of giving out updates even to their old devices (the x10 came from Donut land and got as far as Gingerbread country).
So there it is. I'll just probably save up again once there are Apps that my Xperia S can't run! Thanks for the help again.

can I have some advice?

Guys ive been reading on net bout android phone ive been wanting to buy sgs3 but when I saw some forum saying quadcore is useless on sgs3 that its better having dual core and now I saw Xperia tx verion that won benchmark test that saying has better performance that sgs3 so guys what is the phone?
For me im into gaming RPG on android phone and net surfing music etc
I'm pretty sure only the international sgs3 has a quad core... but I may be wrong on that.
As far as cpu performance goes, I prefer the tegra processors over the snapdragons. LG optimus hd has one of these in a quad core version available oversees.
This isnt about opinions though, trust the benchmark results.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Well it really depends on what you feel. Benchmarks are pointless. only real world use matters. I would give up the quad core for the 2gb of ram the US Moslem comes with but for gaming the spores line is your best bet as those are gaming devices
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
Eh same could've been said about dual core when it first popped up for us. Its more about taking advantage of the cores that's the situation. Later versions of android are surely to take full capacity of the cores as more and more phones adopt. As for the phone, the gs3 is perfect for gaming, media, browsing ect. Although its plastic, the way its shipped makes it comfortable to hold in the hand

The best overall performance for a phone has to be the Galaxy S3. It comes with a Snapdragon S4, which is an entirely NEW architecture. That means snapdragon is half a generation ahead of the tegra 3 and exynos 4 in terms of cpu design. The only drawback of the S4 is its gpu, as it only has an adreno 225, which is a slight upgrade from it's old gpu. Otherwise the Galaxy S3 is still a powerhouse.
As for gaming, the Tegra 3 has a slight edge due to NVIDIA forming partnerships with game developers and they optimize some games to run well on the tegra 3.
http://androidandme.com/2012/05/sma...erformance-gpu-battery-life-and-web-browsing/
Overall, real-performance is the almost the same for both phones, One X and GSIII, but with a slight edge to the GSIII for its superior S4.
i think sgs3 dual core version with 2gb ram wont be released in europe i only saw in italy is quadcore with 1gb ram T_T but ithink 1g ram is still good coz my father has sgs2 ^^
so if we will base on experience sgs3 is still the best ill gonna save a bit more for that phone XD
Anything Krait is good, the S4 is a very capable chip. The quad pro version will be a beast.
Exynos is fast as well, Nvidia is better for gaming. But it also depends on how well the manufacturers optimise their software to run on the hardware.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Xperia TX. Go for it. No TouchWiz, better camera and design. Jelly Bean almost after launch.
it is very important to know if it is quad or dual cored. If it is quad then it will run faster because there is less stress on the cpu, then if it was dual. but, honestly, i ahve been using my droid incredible for a very long time. This is a 1 GHZ single core cpu and i use it heavily. i play n64 games on it without over clocking (the max cpu is like 1134 mhz, but i set it to about 600mhz and i can play with absolutely no lag.) so, what i am saying is that it doesn't matter if it is dual or quad cored because it is fast enough already. but, i know the international version, or at least the one i saw in india when i went there for vacation is quad. i think the USA version is quad as well. and btw, i have played with it. it's a great phone. the display is beautiful. the battery life is amazing. flash a kernel on it and i think you can run for 2-3 days with light/medium use in a single charge. go get that phone!
International galaxy s3 is quad core with 1gb a ram and is 1.4ghz which can be over clocked to 1.7ghz. I have an international galaxy s3 as I am from UK.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
quad core might not be fully usable at the moment but it will get better.
the main thing is the i9300 (international version) will have far more vast support then any carrier specific models us versions.
Benchamrk results are not that important
Get the S3 because its good for gaming with bigger screen and nice comfy shape :good:

I am also looking at getting a new phone. I am leaning towards a quadcore because I tend to have phones for a while. (Still rocking my captivate...) I figure that even though applications are not optimized for the quadcore yet, they will be in the future, which means I can make use of the phone for longer without feeling the need that I "have" to upgrade.

S4 or Tegra3?

which one X should i buy?
tegra has the nvidia graphics and quad core
but the s4 uses a15 arch and the solid adreno 225

I am developing graphics apps for android (like live wallpapers). I have a lot of phones and tablets for testing including HTC One X (Tegra 3), Aer A701 (Tegra 3), Sensation (Andreno) and Samsung device (Mali400P).
I can say Tegra 3 is the slowest platform over all top devices. NVidia promoted it nice, so people think that Tegra3 really the best if not the bestest. But, my expirience of development disapprove it.
Floating point ops on Tegra3 is very slow. Rendering speed and filling operations EXTREMELY SLOW.
GPU is slower than Andreno or Mali. HTC One X renders scenes slower than Sensation or any Samsung device with MALI400P.
On Acer A701 stock android launcher lags (coz of tegra3 cant handle such resolution for fill ops).
Compared to all other platforms Tegra3 overheats device most of all. If you launch any real 3d game (Shadowgun for example), HTC One X will become very hot in several minutes and you get your fingers hurt while touching the screen.
So, DO NOT GET TEGRA3 devices at all till NVidia make it much more better.
And remember the number of apps that cannot be ran under tegra3 devices. It's just because tegra3 currently completely sucks :cyclops:
Also remember, you do not need quad cores CPU coz currently there are no apps that use parallel processing. And the situation will not change until OpenAL mobile support.
2 cores is enough most of the times (1 for interface and 1 for background tasking).
Have a nice time
Why do you think the One X+ has a tegra3+
hmm.. mixed responses so far. hopefully the one x+ fixes whatever tegra3 lacks

Sorry tegra 3 is overrated. It's more of a battle between quad core exynos and dual core S4 (yes I am talking about the galaxy s3), but tegra 3 is no match for either of them. Same with tegra 2. It would appear that NVIDIA makes the first dual or quad core CPU for a phone but later on other CPUs surpass it.

Adreno 225 at 720p and mali400?

Hey guys was hoping you could help me out since I am a big newbie when it comes to the mobile world
I am looking to buy a new phone, and one of the phones I've choosen to buy has adreno 225, 1.5ghz krait and 720p 4.7" screen (its the pantech (or SKY) a830l ).
Was hoping you guys could help me and let me know which games and/or apps (if any) I wont be able to run because of gpu bottle-neck on this resolution, and how future proof the adreno 225 will prove to be..
additionally, my alternative choice is htc One X
One X is almost twice the price of the pantechm , so I want to know whether its really worth it in terms of cpu and gpu power (ignoring the better screen for a bit).
Also, I've noticed that many 'very' powerful cell phones have mali400 (including galaxy note (1) and SIII). I've heard people say that adreno 225 is better than mali400 AND that SIII outperforms in games cell phones with much more powerful graphics card. So now im really confused. Am I missing something?

mali 400 easily outperforms adreno 225... that's why it is in galaxy s3
and it has capability upto 4 cores so it is better
more comparable to it would be adreno 320!
the "pantech" one is a good choice if pricing suits you! You'll be able to play many games but i assume 1.5 ghz krait is either dual/quad core!! If yes you are good to go!

Ive seen a couple of benchmarks but benchmarks are just benchmarks. Based on current games an apps, how many games and apps are there that wont be able to run because of the gpu? and can you give me some examples? hope I'm not asking too much
the pantech 830 is Super IPS LCD 720p (4.8"), krait dual core 1.5ghz and adreno 225
Samsung galaxy Note (N7000) is Super Amoled 720p (5.3"), cortex A-9, mali400, about 25% more expensive than the pantech
HTC One X is about twice the price of the pantech (and I really doubt I need the quad core)

Well the pantech phone will run almost all games.. Games which have state of the art graphics like nova3,wild blood and latest nfs, asphalt releases might be a problem.. But those can also be made working by rooting and enabling hardware acceleration
Note and one x will run all games but i understand they are costly
Then again it comes to u, how much u want to pay!
