Publicity for our phone - LG Optimus 3D

So lately I've been asking developers for specific main stream roms so far this is what I've got accomplished but anyone just remember devs are ppl too and don't be afraid to ask them for a rom if they are not busy and have access to the device most will gladly help out
Trying to find out if 3D Max roms are flashable for us - 6/19/2012 - completed (possible) used Acura 3dmax kernel and rom
Asked for Ubuntu - already works with background. Img and vnc - COMPLETED
Asked for miui - someone is currently working on this (WIP)
Asked for AOKP - they need the device
asked to get our picture up on the main cyanogenmod devices site - they said it will be up soon its on there Todo list - COMPLETED
Asked about CM9 - they have alpha port but awaiting certain drivers to ensure a clean smooth rom
Any other ideas you can ask around to the devs on here and different sites and see what you can get out of them lets see if we can make a great phone one of those that gets the attention it deserves

Yeah we also would like to have in our hands the omapflash for o3D.. many users have/had to send their phones to LG for boot repair. but the Gnex has a 7mb script that repairs the bootloader in 2 mins.. LG changes whole board

I thought I saw that on the boards the other day actually

SlimICS 3.6 port in the works!!!

ive been working on this off and on for a while, and ive finally managed to get SlimICS to boot!!!
unfortunatly there are many major bugs...the biggest one: Launchers are not working so i cant test any apps
the status bar is working and i managed to enter settings through the status bar and was able to connect to my wifi network, however i can not actually test the internet as i can not access any apps
now that i have it booting though i will be devoting alot more time to it...and it looks like theROMinator and i may be working together on this one so hopefully we should have a stableish version up soon!
well. nobody tryed before because we didn't have any kernel that supported ics.. i don't know if jt's or entropy source kernels will work...

I heard its pretty easy to port aosp roms. This shows it lol. I may try it myself if it is reported working, makes getting aokp and others a lot easier.
That would be great. I am running slim on my captivate and really like it.

Its definatly not as easy as it sounded...first they wernt flashing at all, i manged to get them to flash...but now it sends me to a boot loop. I tried to read the logcat to see what was causing the bootloop and to my suprise...logcat isnt working!!!! Ill definatly put more time into this though, i am determined to get it to at least boot up!!!! No ETA though, this is the first time ive ever ported a rom...maybe i shouldve ported some gingerbread roms before i tried porting ics...

sorry guys, ive been grounded...so i don't have my phone so no progress has been made, as soon as i get my phone back ill continue to attempt this
and glad to here an aokp is in the works and being tested
A lot of ics roms are beginning to pop up...and Ive gotten slim ics to flash however it bootloops. But I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is and after I pick up my sister from school I'll get back to working on it...if I'm right on what's causing the bootloops then we may have another ics rom coming our way

i got it out of the bootloops!!!! but alot of stuff need fixing...i used the following guide to get it to where it is right now:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630237
wifi is connecting though cant really test it as the launcher that came with slim (ZEAM) isnt working) so i cant access any apps...i can get to setting through the status bar though and was able to connect to my wifi
gonna reboot and do some logcats and see if i can figure out whats going on
if you want, i can upload what i have and pm you a link if you want...get two guys working on the bugs at the same time
If you can get BT audio to work I am all up for helping with testing. Just need it because of local laws.

unfortunatly this is being ported using entropys latest CM9( build so whatever doesnt work on that will not work on here...)
i doubt i could even come close to fixing bluetooth...but once this gets more stable i may look into it...but once again the chances of me getting bluetooth are very poor, pretty much impossible...even our best devs have been unable to get bluetooth to work :/

i used both! what i did was this:
got entropys latest cm9, deleted the app, media, fonts, framework folders
then i replaced the deleted ones with the ones in the 3.6 base
i then took the i9000 3.6 essentials and instead of copying the folders i copied the files to the apropriate folders
i then flashed itthe reason it was bootlooping earlier was because it was missing the libandroid_runtime.so
the problem with the launcher is there is still some stuff from the /lib directory needed...flashed one with all the .so from lib and launcher shwed up however touch screen wasnt working...so now to go those logcats and see which lib i need

[Q] gingerbread

As of right now, what is holding us back from porting gingerbread to our sidekicks? Is it drivers? Or a 2.3 kernel that runs? I need a list of what needs to be done exactly.

And, here:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/22310-wipcm7-for-sidekick-4g/
Hope that helps!
Thank you, but I've seen both of those and followed them to the end. I'm looking for a specific list of what is needed to port gingerbread to our device. As in i may take up the task of porting it
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA
Would probably be a good idea to continue where windixxi left off since hes the closest person to get ginger working on our phone.
i think i remember Sduvick explaining that the drivers for this device are not exactly generic, so we really need an official Gingerbread kernel from Samsung. i'm pretty sure he tried porting a gb kernel from another device, but without updated drivers for the SK4G, it was basically impossible. that's how i understand it anyway.
Thank you yogi for the info and yes pintek im aware of windxixi great work but i cant figure out his github at all. Its not labeled well.. so more or less its a drivers issue?

Basically? That's what I understood as well.
So instead of trying to port drivers we would have to write new drivers in theory since we don't have a source to build from?

As mentioned previously, maybe windixxi can provide some insight as well.
You're probably going to need some experience and knowledge of coding (i.e. C, Python, Java) and access to a Linux rig of some sort as well..

I recommend installing a hard drive specifically for your Linux environment and using the bios to switch between your boot OS.
But, I also have Ubuntu installed inside of VirtualBox. It's a bit slow, but it works inside of Windows.

I might try that to get me back into the groove of things, things are going slow with classes though so nobody should get their hopes up yet. Frankly speaking I am not impressed with ubuntu os. Everywhere just swiping here and there is ridiculous. Also most of the basic apps still dont work in it. We should wait for official release of ubuntu with major impressive imptovements. And most imp we have major issues with kernel 3.0 which has to be first solve for stable CM rom. Only then we should proceed with ubuntu.

Hmm. I see so that's the story. Well, people here are too impatient. Its not like other ROMs can make their phone 2x as cool and fast as stock. Hell, I actually prefer stock. The only difference I see is Theme Chooser (Except ParanoidAndroid's total UI Customization and different modes). which by the way is already available for non-CM/AOKP ROMs. The only reason I want to get CM for this phone is for hopes that even when Sammy abandons this phone, we'd still be able to run a recent version of android. 4.2.2 is no big deal for me, its still jellybean for chrissakes. I'd tear the world apart if we were still on GB and KLP or whatever 5.X will be called is already out.
I guess its best to wait. We waited a pretty long time for jelly bean but why replace something that's not broken? Still is just software, I doubt those ROMs can satisfy me.
.end mOpinion
Sadly, there's no one left, OsamaGhareeb knows programming (he can help with the sources) but he's MIA here on Ace II section. Then there's hafizduddin, who builds the kernels. Aaaaand there's OldDroid who said he'd be getting an Ace II and build something for it but he's MIA now too (i think he's active but I don't think he'd get this phone IMO)
So, that said, anyone else here who knows programing/Linux operation?

Noob Help Needed (Custom ROM Building)

Hey,
I am jumping the gun a bit but I was going to be getting involved in building custom roms for the S5 (once SS is available.) I figure I might as well start now and if we never get SS (I'm sure we will in due time) at least I will have started with getting experience.
I've searched the internet and found some great guides to building custom roms. I am not a total noob but am new to building roms.
I would like if you all could help me out and point me in a good direction on xda or the web for rom building information so I can give it a go!
Also, I would like it if you guys would comment as to what you look for in a custom rom (stock touchwiz of course) so I can begin researching different mods as well!
I know I look for a good theme with themed apks, adblock hosts, bloat removed, call recording mods etc..
Thanks for helping me out!
