Nandroid backup, update your baseband with any of the guides or the one i have, check my signature, and then provide support for the new baseband to that rom if it does not have it. There is also a guide for this on my signature.

If I do this, then I would have to start with a fresh ROM install correct? When you restore the Nandroid, doesn't that restore the BB also?

Backup your current ROM restore a stock based ROM use the LG update tool to update the baseband, reflash CWM then restore your backup of HFP. Restores don't change baseband you need to use your computer to baseband (LG tool for updating/KDZ method)

I could not get Bluetooth to work, flashed Owsin's zip Some get music and file transfer to work but not phone audio.
Would be interested to know if anyone gets all BT functions working. What steps, sequence

Bluetooth calling is not working as of yet. It's a known issue.

Some posts seem to say all BT functions are working. Many say no phone audio. Wanted to be clear about my experience for others searching the subject.

Yes, I flashed that right after I restored, and I can make calls, haven't tried BT yet, I don't use it

just making sure didn't want you not knowing and then freaking out with no call audio.

[Q] New Baseband/Radio

Does anybody plan on posting the new baseband/radio or do we have to use that dangereous LG tool? Thanks in advance peeps!
as of right now, the only way to get it is through lg updater or flashing the kdz file.
Wheres kdz file?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
here's the kdz file
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP999DW/ATMODW/V21e_00/V21E_00.kdz
and here's the kdz flasher
http://www.mediafire.com/?3hd4ao113lx8gq4
Given how smoothly this went for me I have to wonder about the "dangerous" LG tool. Really think this might be user error in most cases.
Flashing kdz will update only baseband? so no need to restore back to stock?
that's what im trying to figure out... is that just for baseband? lose root?
I will be pumped if it is just this easy!
Sent from my butt using XDA Premium App
The kdz updater will put the entire gingerbread update, including the new baseband on your phone. So yes, you will want to be reverted to stock, unrooted, with stock recovery.
At that point, you can nvflash cwm and flash either of the pre-rooted 2.3.3 roms, or from what other's have reported, you could even flash either a froyo based rom like EB froyo 1.05, or a CM7 rom. I suppose you could nandroid your existing configuration right back over the updated baseband, and have the features you're used to using right now, with the added benefit of the new baseband.
But I'm not sure if the instant GPS lock is a function of the new baseband, or if it's rom-specific...anyone know?

I would be very grateful if someone could explain me how do I flash the KDZ file? Do I need to revert first to stock or can I do it right from my EB1.05 Froyo? I suppose I need to install first this KDZ flasher? I have never done this, so I don't know...
Much appreciated.

It seems to be the new baseband. I'm running a cm7 based rom with the new baseband and I'm still getting the instant GPS locks.

i used lg update tool to update last night... in under 10 minutes.. easy and painless... i got the new baseband now... i instantly put cm7 back on using nvflash flashing cwm... so do it if your rooted.. i wouldnt if i wasnt.. possible brick... rooted u can fix anything...
Do I need to go to unrooted stock before I flash this kdz? If so how do I root again as I have read that you cannot root with superoneclick

Follow these instructions step by step and you can update the baseband and then flash/nandroid any rom you like:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15949846&postcount=37
And the directions for using the KDZ tool is provided by the OP of that thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183168
Hope this helps.
edit: Of course, you realize that flashing roms is at your own risk, and although many of us have found froyo and CM7 based roms to be compatible with the new baseband, our evidence is anecdotal at best.
I updated using the lg update tool with no issues. Took about 10 min.

New baseband on Eagles Blood 1.05 Froyo

I downloaded the gb leak from LG when it came out. I liked it at first but I missed the LG camera. So I flashed CWM with nvflash. I did a nandroid backup. I was still not rooted yet. Then I flashed Eagles Blood 1.05 Froyo then did the supeoneclick root method and then flashed faux kernel. I happened to notice that I kept the new baseband the whole time. Which was a surprise to me. Do jot know if this will help anyone but just thought maybe someone might want to know if they wanted the baseband. I am not sure if this will work with other roms but I tried it with Eagles Blood 1.05 Froyo.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I'm pretty sure none of the ROMs in this forum have a baseband included in the .zip file. So none of them should change the baseband in any way.
Since no dev has uploaded a flashable update for the baseband (probably so nobody bricks their phone), the only way to get it is by using the lg updater tool.
It seems that the 2.3.3 roms and the 2.3.4 roms from cm7 source are working with the new baseband, I haven't checked to see whether any based on faux's aosp are working.
Hope that helps anybody.
Can you make a nandroid of Eagle's Blood 1.0.5 with the new baseband and post it here? I'm trying to do the update via LG's program but it's bricked my phone and crashed windows 7 twice. This is my first experience with the dreaded blue screen of death!

if you're thinking a nandroid will backup the radio, you're wasting your time. if that were the case, everyone could simply flash the rooted gb leak that is posted and instantly have the new baseband. FOR ANYONE THAT IS CURIOUS--AS OF RIGHT NOW, THERE IS NO WAY TO GET THE NEW BASEBAND WITHOUT FIRST FLASHING THE RECENT GB LEAK. not yelling at you tidewaterns, just wanted to make that clear to everyone.

I do not know how it got on there. The way I got it on there was by doing the steps above. I was not trying to achieve anything. I just wanted to flash Eagles Blood Froyo. It was a complete accident I just noticed that it stayed the same after flashing Eagles Blood Froyo.

once you have the new baseband, you can flash any g2x rom in the world and retain the same baseband. think about it. has lg or tmobile released a radio for this phone yet...separately? no. the baseband in the leak was flashed along with the rom. there is no other way to get it other than to go through kdz or lg updater. nandroid cannot and will not ever backup the radio .

I'm curious to know does the baseband contain anything that fixes random reboots and other issues that we are not getting in other roms that just came out without it's presence?

Doesn't have to pretend to be GB in build.prop.

If you want the latest baseband, you have to go through LG's flasher or the OTA update. However, this is not required for CM7. CM7 is happy with either baseband version.

I haven't noticed any improvement from old baseband to new, so just flash CM7 and don't worry about the LG updater tool.
1. Nandroid backup using cwm
2. wipe using cwm
3. flash cm7 (just get the latest nightly: http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=p999)
When you flash subsequent nightlies/RCs of CM7, you can flash right over the previous CM7 flash, just be sure to wipe cache/dalvik cache and do a repair permissions before booting into new CM7 flash. At least that's my little ritual, not sure how much it helps.

Well I did the "update" and flashed cwm and restored my 2.3.3 backup of bionix and calls work for me now (using grooveIP as my phone is disconnected at the moment) and before I'd get the static noise.
So I'm assuming it worked for me, I'm PRETTY sure I still got the popping noise when using grooveIP? I'll restore another backup and see if anything else changed.
Restored an ICS backup and call works through grooveIP still...
Hmm... wonder if they did just change something minor in the baseband to allow it to work?

I think the most likely thing is that they changed something in the ROM itself (like the RIL, or similar code), so flashing another ROM isn't going to benefit.
Okay, so finally after several hours of installing this and that, I finally got back to a stock rooted 2.3.4 v21y. I figured cool, its working now, no call audio issues. Proceeded to install EB (GB 2.3.7) and now I'm getting the clicking and popping sounds. Going back to stock again and seeing if I can run this update, then reinstall EB to see if call audio is fixed.

And guys this update is most likely supposed to be used on phones that have the latest baseband in conjunction to having the stock 2.3.4 rom. I doubt it's meant to make better audio quality if you're still on the old baseband.
I have gotten the program used to flash the update, smartflash. And the bin it used. And the dlls. It doesn't look very helpful though.

This is the first ROM I've used where I haven't had any issues with Wifi Calling. I don't need it since my signal is fine in my current apartment (is was a neccessity in my last apartment because the signal was so bad, though), but I always like to test it out anyway when I flash a new ROM. Usually what happens is it will work with a fresh flash, but, after the first reboot, it will start having issues and no longer work. With HFS 1.9, Wifi Calling has worked exactly how it's supposed to work with no issues.
Anyone else have similar or difference experiences?

You're not on the new baseband, so you never should have flashed the new baseband zip. I'm not as familiar with HFS as I used to be, but you may need to search for an "old baseband.zip" file and flash that (after wiping and reflashing HFS)

After Hellfire v1.9 wifi not working
ny time i flash an ICS or JB rom on my g2x the wifi stop working but resumes and work fine when i flash GB. My baseband is March 2012. Any help guys?
I flashed for_old_bb.zip (it can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...6&d=1339901539) in CWM and it fixed the audio issue in HFS 1.9, but for some reason it still shows the same baseband version in Settings>About Phone. Is that to be expected, or could I have missed a step somewhere?

This file is a fix for audio issues... it is not a flashable baseband.
